  • In this video I run through my 5 lb braid setup and then launch my tube out at Lake Mamie. This was the first morning for me on a one week trip to Mammoth Lakes just before 4th of July weekend.
    Find the braid and fluorocarbon leader line on our website at

    Dude I can't believe all the toads you slay from Mamie and Mary. I've had a little luck at Lake George, but Mamie and Mary so far I am skunked after numerous attempts. Good job Bro!!

      Mamie has been my favorite lake for a long time. It can be tough to fish because the lake is soo shallow the fish get spooked easily. But there are big fish in all of those lakes as well as twin lakes on the loop.

      Thanks for the feedback! Yes the missing 411 stories are crazy! I start work at 1:30 am and first heard those stories on the George Noory coast to coast am program. What really intrigued me was that the biggest clusters are very close by at Yosemite.

      Awesome! I love the braid. If you go with the double uni knot for your line to line connection I would do some extra twists through the loop since the line is soo thin. The knot calls for 5 twists through each loop I go with 8 just in case the tag end slips a bit. I will be packing that order today I’ll throw some stickers in for you 🤙

    Just bought some of that braid and I wish it came in 300 yard spool that way you can fill the entire spool but I guess it will be worth it. Great video though 🔥

    • @socaltroutcartel574
      @socaltroutcartel574  3 роки тому +1

      Yeah it’s not a lot of line but a hack is to leave about half the reel spooled with the regular line and tie the braid to that so you can fill up the reel close to the edge 🤙

    • @KimchiJerry
      @KimchiJerry Рік тому

      @@mattnguyen1672 if you use 4lb backing instead of 2lb it’s quicker obviously but just so you know 👍 and make sure you re-tie your knots after not using it because the braid will get frail.

    Great mammoth action! Always love watching you killin the toads. I heard there was some infection with the trout fisheries up north? Have you found any difference in available catches?

    • @socaltroutcartel574
      @socaltroutcartel574  3 роки тому +3

      I heard that happened again this season, what I have noticed is there does tend to be less of the small fish around, but coming across the bigger fish when I do find a bite thanks to the private stocks that have been provided. Since there has been less fish around this season I myself have been keeping less fish so that hopefully some other anglers will have the opportunity to catch some of the big fish for themselves as well.

    Used to buy my jigs from Trout King, but I think they went out of business. Usually get em from Sierra Slammers as well. Where do you get yours? Also what was that pearl colored soft plastic… almost looked like an atomic teaser from Berkeley.

    • @socaltroutcartel574
      @socaltroutcartel574  Рік тому

      The pearl colored plastic if it was the tubes were the mini jigs from Gorditos Customz, he calls his color queso fresco. Yeah haven’t seen Trout King for a good while now. I carry most of the stuff I use in my shop in Ontario, some is also available on my website SoCalTroutCartel.com

    • @socaltroutcartel574
      @socaltroutcartel574  Рік тому

      I usually run about a 5 foot leader of 4 lb fluorocarbon. I have been using a double uni knot because it’s easy to tie but when I run the braid through the loop I do 8 twists instead of 5. Works for me, some people say it’s not strong enough, in that case the fg knot would be stronger but it’s harder to tie
