Ford produced those generation medium duties from 1980 through 1999 & what's amazing about them is they have the same interior as the 7th generation light duties "1980 through 1986".

Always liked the 7th gen dash design minus the gauge cluster, 8th/9th got the gauges better imo

Yes it does,but it's not good to rev them while running a pto,you have a greater chance of the pto gears coming apart,and taking out the trans.and also running a chance of building way to much line and ram pressure's

Yes, they kept the old stuff for longer in the medium duty trucks as they weren't subject to newer laws/regulations.

mite be the rear axle gearing ,check for any tags on the rear axle .check the oil filler tube for any blow by ,bad rings seal
