Thanks for honoring my request ( Yes it's me, changed my name on UA-cam) he switched leading foot's throughout the song, at some parts his right foot is playing the high-hat and his left foot is playing the kick, and at some parts it's the other way around.
Thanks again Andrew. Been a fan of this channel since day 1!
His feet are what I noticed right away. At first I thought the camera may have been backwards, but nope... 😆
Thanks for the request👍🏼
Sorry for the delay Thome!
Life has gotten crazy.
GREAT PICK
@@AndrewRooneyDrums no biggy, i enjoyed watching it and it seems you and everybody else did too, thats all that matters
you prolly dont care but if you guys are bored like me during the covid times then you can watch all the latest series on InstaFlixxer. I've been streaming with my brother for the last months :)
@Colten Braxton Definitely, been watching on InstaFlixxer for years myself :D
Both Alex Rudinger and Anup Sastry studied under Travis.
Wow! Thanks Leon
Would explain why they are also savages on the kit. Honored to live in the same state 😂
Actually alex rudinger got some pointers from orbin but never took lessons with orbin. He doesent know why people keep saying that
Travis orbin was the original drummer for periphery.
Travis Orbin was in Periphery before Matt Halpern but also before they released any albums, Periphery had hundreds of demo tracks on the internet from this era though and Travis was doing drum playthroughs back in 2008/9 on his youtube
Fun fact Alex Rudinger was one of Travis' students
@@Nephzi ...and Anup Sastry as well, if I'm not mistaken.
Thank you!
he was playing the kickdrum on his left foot and keeping the hi hat time with his right. dude is extremely ambidextrous and one of the most creative drummers out there he taught alex rudinger. Please react to Periphery- Light from him!
YES! His interpretation of Light is so god damn amazing!
@@MattJFilms thats because it is not an interpretation, but the original version as intended
I hope to get to that one Jason!
I’ve always loved watching Travis’s video’s. It just amazes me how much of a machine he is when it comes to his technical ability on a drum set, and also how he pulls so much sound out of so little equipment.
The fills are really unexpected and kind of mind bending. Really cool. Also I love sound of that china.
Yeah he's great Michael!
3:55 When he transitions from left foot bass / right foot hats to left foot hats / right foot bass. 4:14 -ish double bass part that yields the swap back the other way. (I pretty much only watched his feet) :)
This guy has more views and subscribers from watching drummers and going "Wow", than many of the drummers he is watching in 10+ years of performing
Honestly any of his Periphery play throughs are just amazing
I bet Jonny!
I really really hope you get to his playthrough of unleash the pwnies, that track was made with no real drummer performing it in mind, and was made to be insane technicality wise. Yet travis just does it anyway. A real treat to look for, hope it happens.
Hey! Sounds good!
This song may or not be the meaning behind my moniker. It is AMAZING to see how effortlessly Travis can still play the track.
Hey rooney. That clean break in the middle is part of ow my feelings and in the mix of the actual track its really cool because the guitar melody there actually plays through a HUGE PORTION of the song and when you listen to the track and that break hits its like this moment of "this is the first time I can hear this melody but for some reason it's super familiar" because it's buried in the track.
Travis would record live drums for the parts that Misha from periphery would program.
His hats are remote hats.
He currently plays in a band called darkest hour which is a bit of a heavier metal band but still on the melodic side.
Thanks for the info!
left foot is his leading foot. aux hi hat pedal is next to the right kick drum pedal. he did a video about why he plays that way. essentially he wanted his less dominant side to be on par with his dominant side. basically he forced himself to play ambidextrous.
Insane... just checked what Travis reactions you had a couple of hrs ago! And yes, Travis Orbin was a member of Periphery from 2005-2009.
The sticks he uses are marching band sticks, haha. Vic Firth Hammers.
And to answer your question about his right-hats. He is playing them with his right foot. I think you missed the foot cam up in the right corner ;)
I knew they were massive sticks LOL
Travis Orbin is my favorite drummer!
A very unique setup indeed, obviously it sounds absolutely amazing. Love it!
Please checkout some of Travis' solo stuff like Projects or Projects III. Your jaw will be on the floor in a matter of seconds lol. He's one of the craziest, most technical drummers out there that doesn't get the recognition he deserves!
Thanks! I'll check it out
Actually you should check out his playthrough to Sky Eats Airplane. That's the one I was thinking of
Thanks!
He is playing the bass drum left footed !!!! It looked like hi hat clicks but he was beast mode doing the bass line lol I used to barely get it with my right foot cause the doubles are tight and need precision. Was crazy he did it with his left 😳 , very ambidextrous player and one of the greats ! I used to think this guy was the best djent drummer besides halpern !
If he leads with his right hand, he uses his left foot on the bass drum, vice-versa. Through most of this track he used the right hats with his right foot while leading with the right hand.
Nice! Thanks. That makes sense :)
Actually no, his right foot is controlling the hihat, because his leading foot is left one. But he likes to switch it from time to time, like the actual cyborg he obviously is.
That's nuts
Literally best album
Please react to travis Orbin "Cancri 55 - Impact" session.
Thanks Matthew!
Yes he was the original drummer. He is wild. He wrote all the drum parts for the songs on their first album. Check out more of his stuff. He is in my opinion better than Chris Turner, and approaches Matt Gartska. I believe he also taught Alex Rudinger.
Nice info. Thanks!
This album has crazy long songs, all new materials is a whole different song. This album is so good, but Matt Halpern blasts it too. I have a torn love between travis and halpern. And yes, travis is an open playing beast
funfact... i had two friend guitarists that were into heavylifting. speedly they fall in their finger dexterity. but i've played with drummer that even started hormones doses and started in heavylifting tournaments. it was only six months that he coulndn't play anything that he played before :D even scratch his back without a drumstick :D
reminds me of Luke Jaeger... damn tough guy that, even with all those muscles, can play riddiculous...
Yeah I've often wondered about muscle mass vs dexterity!
3:55 - 4:15 me too Andrew, me too
HAHAHA
Haha nice, just found out bout u thanks to the Pisces video,u are cool
Thanks for the sub Paul!
I'd say mostly plays as a lefty, but pretty damn close to ambidextrous! Great video, thanks Andrew
Thanks Kelvin!
I believe they're the " hammers" series/size can't remember the brand......big barrel tips and HEAVY
I wonder who would win in a brawl; El Estepario Siberiano or this guy? Honestly, the drumming has an almost trance like hypnotic thing going for it. A bit splashy for me cymbal wise, but really interesting song and complexity.
Good comparison! Both jacked dudes!
No.......it's Leonidas of Sparta playing drums in the Classical Periphery Era....🧐........😅
P.S. : You should also check out his 'Unleash the Pwnies'.......Yeah! I know!😒😁
Thanks Ashesh!
Honestly you need to react to UNLEASH THE ARCHERS - Awakening (Full Band Playthrough Video) | Napalm Records.
What the drummer is up to will make you sweat.
Above the kit and foot camera angles are present.
Everything going on in that song makes me sweat. Bass is wild.
You gotta check out Ben Harclerode, drumcam from Whitechapel!
Thanks for the tip!
You need to do a video on Travis barker from blink 182.
Hated this....the guy is so jacked, full head of hair and plays that good. What hope is there for the rest of us? :)....As a left hander who plays a right set, I've got to say I'm intrigued by this set up. Great recording too.
No hope for us Phil! LOL
You should look at KRIMH negative (instrumental) 🔥
Please please please react to the new alex rudinger Nile cover! His feet endurance is absolutely insane!
i wished you pick the walk instead of this video, travis is so good
walk is impressive, I think OMF is more technically difficult and impressive however. the walk does have a lot more flare with the kick flams and such.
Hey Tyler! I was just going with the patreons pick :)
Travis orbin again please
Danny Seraphine - I'm a Man. Drummerworld!
if its like harry miree his right highhat is on a hydraulic
Travis is Awesome in his Periphery playalongs he plays tracks from an album which had originally only a drum machine and its awesome but he isnt / was never a member of Periphery
He was definitely in Periphery for a few years before Matt Halpern replaced him after Travis left to join Sky Eats Airplane
@@Nephzi hey thank you for the Information I was wrong informed then sorry
he even played a few live concerts with them.
Thanks for the input/discussion guys!
So I says rack tom, damn near killed tom.
HAHA Jason!
Check out Periphery and their new drummer Matt Halpern. He's crazy free flow from their early album like this. "Buttersnips" is incredible. From this album. Really hard to find live
Travis is obviously an amazing drummer and technician but I just don’t feel anything from his playing. This isn’t to throw shade, I’m just curious who else felt this way
Sorry but i didn't like it!
Sure it may be technical but it sounded like a tape loop with minimal dynamics and feel.
Give me Gavin, Virgil, Neil or Larnel.
I understand everyone can have opinions, but that is a pretty ignorant comment, especially when Virgil has featured Travis on his website as a skillful artist. You literally could not have played the song more perfect than what he does in the video, and so, its unfortunate that you didn't like it, but to say it was played with minimal dynamics and feel, well your just wrong. Not many people can get the drum set to sound like he just did.
