Searching For Ganja In Azerbaijan 🇦🇿

- Опубліковано 2 гру 2019
- 🇦🇿 The truth is I did not know anything about Azerbaijan before I arrived except that it was rich with oil money and had an incredibly modern capital city called Baku. But I wanted to see beyond that and get to know the country beyond the glitz a little bit better. And so I hired a car, bought a map and set off in search of Ganja. Join me!
So what was the fighter jet guys?
it's Sukhoi Su-15. One of these that shot down couple of boeings during cold war.
Knackered is what it was Bald... Also no seat because ejector seat prob saved the pilot !!!
SU-15
Why you don’t use the GPS to find easier Ganja town?
@UCIIRkpen2-x8hdbs4yztVRw Wrong, it's a Su-15
This guy is playing a real life rpg.
PLEASE, Mr Bald, go back to that family and visit them again. Perhaps bring a gift back. People like that deserve to have their heart warmed more often.
'People who seem to have nothing, always gives the most.'
This guy is on a whole other level of socializing. The way he befriends strangers left and right is amazing.
That kid says "is England better than Azerbaijan" and then answers "both are good".
Thanks for the translation
Çok sevimli oğlanlar
This is like Dora the explorer for adults
I was almost crying when you left that house. What generous people. A lot to be learned from them. Money is not everything.
I teared up a little when that couple and their grandchild offered a meal and entry into their home. There’s something so remarkably human and decent about how they were that I think a part of my soul recognizes and misses from a past life or something. God bless them.
This channel is far better than any travel show on tv today.
"I did not expect this."
Why not?
Wow...such beautiful people. Man...got me at a loss for words
I can't begin to explain how much it teared me apart, knowing that such kind people could be so unfortunate
The why not got me aswell
I felt something in that as well
8:46 .. beautiful lady. A similar thing happened to me in a Bulgarian town 20 years ago on a snowy winter night. I was lost and sick and an old lady dragged me from the train station at midnight to her soviet era apartment block. Wasn't sure what to expect but she woke her husband and son who grabbed some vodka and prepared me a meal. I stayed there 3 nights she washed all my clothes and her son got a friend who spoke basic English to translate. my hotel had closed (my lonely planet book was outdated) and I was gonna freeze at the train station. wonderful hospitality and great memories.
And now imagine how would the western world treat the tourist from Azerbaijan :)
The bit with the refugees was heart warming.
It really is astonishing when you talked about how the generosity of those people inviting you into their home and preparing a meal for you, how it wouldnt happen here in England. It speaks absolute volumes and its sad
coc re-evaluate your response mate
@@edmundblackaddercoc8522 The people inviting him were literally refugees, you hopeless idiot. You're ten times more likely to be invited by one of those than any native British.
@@edmundblackaddercoc8522 How is a person like you even interested in this channel? :/

I'm from USA and i watch this channel to understand the real world out there i have to say that the media portrays this parts of the world as dangerous and here you have people so nice and polite
The kid is awesome, he showed u the way and in the end he said Sagol Dost, meaning Thanks, friend.
Bring those folks a gift like with the Chernobyl folks - what beautiful children!
VanIsleNuckFan I agree
Do it Bald
Funny part is ganja means bald in Urdu 😂
They are refugees, they are poor but they have rich heart than any 😢😢 swiping my tears
The lady inviting him into her home was like a cutscene from a video game
I think bald was emotional after leaving thst familly
"People who seem to have almost nothing are the people who seem to give the most"
Very well said Mr Bald
And people wonder why they have nothing...

The man growing flowers and smoking cigarettes while he miss his country... Looks like a real life poem... And what a hospitality sense... 10/10 bald for discovering and also showing us the part of humanity that make ourselves trust other humans. ❤️💯
This video tore me up, in a good way. First of all I'd like to thank you so much for what you're doing.
I'm an ex karabakh refugee myself, left Baku 25 years ago, travelled to Moscow and after 5 years went to Spain. Now I'm in Germany, but even after these extensive migrations, I still think about this place, as my home, where everything started. And my parents are just like the people you showed, hospitable and friendly. I can even remember the smell of crude oil in the air when you deboarded the plane.
This channel is worth so much. Thanks Bald.
*hears gunshots*
“Let’s check it out!”
I just wonder who started this weird trend highlighting segments - bizarre
the most logical thing to do when you hear gun shots
Steven Liao Those werent gunshots if you watch the video, it was kids with firecrackers.

Well said bald.
Yes, Because their the least effected by the materialism of capitalism ..

Just announced today Azerbaijan is getting Shusha. Maybe this old guy can move back. Sad thing is, even though he could I bet all his friends are gone, the stores are different, everything would be different.
1:32 A 1960s Shelby Mustang in Azerbaijan?
'The people who have nothing are the ones who often give the most '
That hit me real hard
The children were trying to warn you about the rooster, you're lucky to escape lol.
man-do you want vodka
baldr-i'm driving
Man-don't see the connections
God bless that beautiful family
I love how the poorest have the richest hearts
Well said
Absolutely brilliant!. I am Polish, I am 48 years old, this channel takes me to young years, helps me learn English and refreshes Russian. Respect for the autor.
"The people who have nothing - seem to be - the people that give the most" cut me a little deep, fam.
I saw Shusha trending on twitter today, and remembered this old man saying that his life will not be long enough to see this day
Bald: "Where is this road? M4?"
Azerbaijani man: "Go straight ahead"
Bald: *ends up in Cardiff*
... but refuses wodka, because he's wiving.
Outside in could be worse. He could carry on to Swansea.
@@BumOff24 Swansea is beautiful m8
The old boy in the cafe was trying not to laugh when you refused alcohol because you're driving! haha
It is too terrifying to drive sober there. Take a shot of vodka every 10 miles to keep yourself in healthy mind.
I want to travel like that. Have a drink too :))
Watching this as Ganja was just shelled, crazy world we're in today.
the Azerbaijan family is so welcoming.
I hope they are in good shape today!
I'm from Azerbaijan. Living in Canada. Thank you for visiting my country. Thank you for all positive comments. I wish war with Armenia will be end soon and everyone will live in peace.
I'm from Armenia, have same thoughts about that :-)
This man travels with a frickin map, and asks people for directions, when we live in the technology era. Give this man a medal, this is what i call a true travel channel.
Edit: forgot to mention: this man focuses on the most important thing in a country, that is the people. People make a country, not the government, the aspect of the cities, the economy, etc. By far best travel channel on UA-cam.
Almost never see him on phone, hes a great comedian for sure
Brian Roberts he's got that true British sense of humour. Smooth and witty, but at the same time funny as hell
I still use a road atlas.
Absolutely agree! He's
Always so pleasant with great charisma

I watch your channel because I need and want study English.
Today I subscribed on this channel. Sorry for my English, if wrong.
Good luck!
Azerbaijani here👋. Fun fact: I'm from Ganja. It's so fascinating to see how our country thrives and how many tourists like our country. 💜💜💜
Those people taking Mr Bald in at that apartment complex and feeding him had me hella choked up. What awesome, good people
Occasionally, you can tell when Bald is genuinely humbled by an experience, and this seemed to be one of them.
I think that he should take that man back to at least see his homeland 1 last time maybe it might get his butt in gear to move back.
They were wonderful. Take away the focus on possessions and people are human.
Aaron Rodriguez 90% of Azerbaijani people would do that 😌
This family should be next to receive some money, let's try and raise it through the channel.
Bunu seyreden Azerbaycanlı kardeşlerime Ankara’dan selamlar.

The refugee family is very generous and polite ,look how they are welcoming him as special guest 🌹👍
I hope you go back and visit that family some day : )
And now the Azerbaijani people got their city Susha back. I hope the people in de video are back home safe.
"The people who almost seem to have nothing, are the people who seem to give the most."
So true, and so awesome. Bless those people.
dmacwith those sheperd dogs can kill anyone. He was lucky that the shepherd himself was there.
I've discovered this channel two days ago and it's the best thing I've seen in a long time
Some here are surprised by the ride at 1:33. They don't realize that Azerbaijan is not Belarus or where ever else bald has been. Azerbaijan is an extremely wealthy oil state with lots of fancy places and things, a +100k usd car doesn't impress anyone there.
19:15 A former Soviet cat!
They might live in small houses but they have a big heart
When you lefted THERE home you seemed EXTREMELY HUMBLED BY THERE KINDNESS.....BRAVO TO THEM.
their, not there.

Lefted is incorrect left leave leaving
Past present and continuing
I stand corrected

I can see the emotion in your reaction after you leave peoples homes after being invited in and treated so friendly. That you are truly thankful. It is a fact “Some that have nothing, will offer everything”.
Always have had good impressions from azeri people. Love and Respect from Bulgaria
Also that family is heart warming, brings a tear to the eye
I think he teared up as well, but we couldn't see behind the black glasses.
Me too ...
They deserve a return visit with a little gift.
holy shit that window where the old guy smoke his cigs is so cozy
Where? Timestamp pls?
Looks like everywhere now you have to hang out of a window to smoke a cigarette LOL
timestamp?
14:52 is a Suhoi Su-15 Interceptor !
Had tears in my eyes watching this. We have no idea how lucky we are.
The sad part about Balds videos is that it has to end ...
No comments from Azerbaijans?? I am from Azerbaijan also, thumbs up for the Azerbaijan people :)
I've logged into my 3 youtube accounts, to like this video three times
What a beautiful family,so loving. Breaks my heart, if even half of humanity had hearts like them-all of us would be living heaven on Earth together. Also that part of how the herder will be surprised when I popup over the hill only for Bald to be surprised by the 2 giant dogs.😂😂😂
I like how Bald and the kid managed to communicate while speaking in their own languages and not understanding each other 😂
Ngl I about cried when the refugees broke bread with you that was heartwarming
We do the same thing in Romania. If we see someone (especially foreigners), we invite them to eat and drink. That's the way we were raised.
The derelict (crashed?)"fighter" plane you encountered at 14:40 is actually a Sukhoi 15 interceptor. These were based in Azerbaijan in the Seventies to ward off aerial incursions from NATO's Turkey and from the Shah's pro-Western Iran.
This aircraft was phased out in the mid-eighties, and was superseded by the vastly superior MiG-31, which is still in Russian service today. This is the same plane that tragically downed Korean Airlines' flight 007 on 01/09/1983.
I met this bloke on Kibbutz back in 1976, who had done his compulsory military service in the Soviet Air Force in the Caucasus and was from the Tat Persian-speaking Jewish community of Azerbaijan. He was totally enamored with the "Su-Pitnatski"!
That family got me like 🥺 you can only see this kind of thing on Bald’s channel. You’re a good bloke, Ben.
That hospitality was absolutely heart-warming!
Yea, choked me up a bit. Such kindness in such a financially suppressed place. As an american, I see we have it too good here. Because we lack that humanity. Subbed.
Mr. Bald still uses physical maps I like that he's old school.
maps cant run out of battery
Probably old Soviet maps
@Fonzie wow, great logic buddy
A real boomer
Maps are fun, you can learn so much about a country with a map.
You should definitely go back and visit them when you can.
The kids absolutely love him wherever he goes. He just has such great social skills. Been binge watching for 3 days and absolutely love his videos.
I love Azerbaijan and its people, I was just there this summer

I'm always so touched when people not only invite you to their homes but also give you tea and food, it's so incredibly kind of them
And these hospitable people were made to leave their motherlands - Garabagh! This short video shows how hospitable people we are - inviting stranger to home 🇦🇿

This was one of my favourite Bald episodes ever.
those were the nicest people in that flat, everyone was like that until money took over..
The small humbling gesture of how you grabbed your sunglasses perched above your head and clipped it in your collar before meeting the refugee family members was such a gentleman gesture. 👏🏼
In Urdu and Hindi Ganja actually means Bald guy 😂
lol
Anyone asks me to go inside there house in England shit I'm running lmao
I picked a girl up from her parents' house here in America(for a first date) and they asked me to come in. I was scared for my life. I straight up asked them if they were going to rob me as I entered then they made fun of how strange it was that we feel weird to go into other people's homes. I got out of there seconds later.
I hate being a grammar nazi, but fukk it: THEIR! Not There!

@@JoeMoses3 wow, never occurred to me that would be strange to some people, I always just considered it polite
How sad
They invited him into their home without a second thought. Such great people.

'I'm a tourist from England', I bet she doesn't hear that often. It's so interesting to see what life is like outside Baku. Anytime I've ever seen anything about Azerbaijan it's always about Baku.

I had to come back to this video to understand more on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflicts. When I watched it the first time nothing made sense but now, I understand a great deal. Many thanks.
