I am thinking the 'tank' on the tracks was more of a 'half track' driven by a 'half wit'. Memo to the 'half track driver', Better get those tires, rims and alignment check.
SUV on the tracks and two minutes later a train comes through. I’ve got one that tops that. In 2014, in the morning, a female stops her car on the tracks at a grade crossing. A train is approaching at approx. 20 mph. This crossing is controlled by the appropriate signals including lights, bell sounds, and crossing arms. With the freight train bearing down on her, she chose not to move her car. The resulting collision resulted in her car being totaled but she only received minor cuts and bruises. When asked by the railroad police why she didn’t move her car forward or backward, she replied “I thought the train would go around me.” A Darwin Award would be insufficient for incident.😮😅😂
I'm here to watch the trains but I'm from Oklahoma and I watch for the train OKC and parts of Texas as well have a wonderful weekend and Thanks VR Grab Bag.🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃🇺🇲🇨🇦
14:57 Scenes like this one from Colorado make me glad to be a Floridian (well that and the fact we are the freest state in the nation), particularly, a South Floridian. I'm freezing just loking at the scene. BRRRR!
5:48 I have several screen captures of Amtrak passing through Folkston then Plant City headed toward Tampa and away from Tampa. I also have the northbound headed into Tampa, out of Tampa, then passing thorugh Folkston.
Prior to CSX railroad names came and went fast. A model Railroader article in 1997 suggested the day of boxcars was history but in 2023 I see a lot of new boxcars being acquired by CN to UP.
More likely a warning: Hotel Roanoke cam showed workers in a crossover across from the Amtrak platform for a couple hours, starting about 11:20 am RNK time. At least three trains sounded horns as they neared them.
Yeah, when I've filmed in Christiansburg VA near the MOW facility and alot of times when NS employees are working on the signals or relay cases, etc.,the Engineers will sound off the air horn even with an air horn restriction in Christiansburg!
Holy crow, I thought for a minute that SUV was just going to keep on going...!!! The Arvada footage was surreally beautiful. I first read the name on the barge as "Prairie Dawg" but on looking again I think it's "Prairie Dawn." Did anybody else catch it? Thanks for another great one--a lot of these cars and engines are beginning to seem like old friends.
0:07 warbonnet and CEFX doubleheader 0:18 P42 at the rear of a Surfliner 1:16 I've never seen these CP MOW cars before 1:48 Business car Beech Grove on the Capitol Limited (again at 3:48) 2:27 one GEVO and one transformer on a 8-axle flatbed 2:31 CSX 1776 leading 2:43 CSX Do Not Hump boxcar 5:16 I haven't seen an AOK car in awhile. this train also has Seaboard and Family Lines hoppers 5:34 ALC42 331 trailing on a Silver Service 6:12 NS 1069 leading 6:34 two tugs working one cut of barges 7:09 NS 8099 leading 7:22 ALC42 333 trailing too 7:57 switch pieces being moved 8:41 that's a small low-center flatcar 8:57 this 'tank' is lost, but gets out by itself 10:38 someone tries to beat the train at the same location. Maybe the person who ran in front of the train was the driver who tried to drive down the tracks. I guess road is in the name. Trains do have wheels. Grandma said they'd use rims on the car to drive down the tracks.
Couple of reasons. Aside from pulling the train, the locos have to provide head-end power to the train for "hotel functions" (lights, A/C/heat, etc.) Those P-42s and Chargers are designed more for speed than torque/hauling heavy loads. Also, it's never a bad idea to have a back-up unit.
It's especially worth having a back-up unit when you're carrying several hundred people through inhospitable mountains or deserts. A stranded train without power, lighting, heating or aircon would quickly become a major welfare issue.
14:10 Note where many of the new/refurbished box cars, etc are having to place the railroad name, reporting marks, car data on upper half of car body in order to minimize the damage caused by the % & @ ! $ # car taggers.
Some are great artist's. Still not cool damaging others property. Maybe go ask if you could put cool pictures on the rail cars. Like coal mine pics on coal trains or farm pics on a grain train.
@colorado1088 Well, and also because of the expensive high quality paint the car manufacturer and/or the railroad applied to the equipment to begin with before the tagging. You couldn't be serious with that comment anyway!?!
Around 3:00 pm today I saw some new looking (no graffiti yet) gray coloured hoppers with the new CPKC logo on the side in Winnipeg Manitoba. The loco was a KCS unit, still in traditional colours. Has anyone seen the new paint scheme yet?

Some nice Fallen Flag catches tonight, thanks VRF.

Sheesh. That's the worst one I've heard yet!!
I thaought i had ingested something when you showed Averado.
That was a good size MOW train in Lagrange.

Recalculating….. TURN RIGHT NOW!!! -Chaos
Wow! Great catching all the trains, especially the Heritage Units, Virtual Railfan, thank you and happy late-Thanksgiving.
nice trains thanks
Those two goobers turning onto the tracks are probably related. 😄

5:48 I have several screen captures of Amtrak passing through Folkston then Plant City headed toward Tampa and away from Tampa. I also have the northbound headed into Tampa, out of Tampa, then passing thorugh Folkston.
I saw 1776 passing Folkston live on the south camera. It's my favorite CSX locomotive until the Atlantic Coast Line unit comes out.
Are people that oblivious? Unreal! It's amazing that can pullout of their own driveway safely.
Prior to CSX railroad names came and went fast. A model Railroader article in 1997 suggested the day of boxcars was history but in 2023 I see a lot of new boxcars being acquired by CN to UP.
Nice footage!

Nice horn salute in Roanoke VA from the Engineer running the GE AC44C6M black mane unit, like the MOW train in Lagrange, Happy Thanksgiving!🦃🛤🚂

Wow all the Darwin candidates
148 cam back through SJC today 😊
I always see the Amtrak trains with two engines and about 12 cars or less. Why two engines on a lite weight consist?

A FB friend who is an American trucker posted the temperature was 16 degrees where he was last night.
Nice

i love when cars are covered in graffiti. who cares about a company name, i’d rather see mobile art instead of advertisement.
The cars don't rust where there is graffiti.

No Kenneth, not a serious comment. @@kennethhanks6712
4:40 pretty weird how this can happen when the ditch lights are flashing at the back and not the front of the locomotive
It must of been the Thanksgiving Turkey 🦃 wish not to get hit at Fairport, NY.
Classic Amtrak Paint Returns In 1:49
I don’t understand when people stop on the tracks.
I don’t understand why they turn onto the tracks in the first place!!!
California transplants at 11:00, three of them!
Voleva prendere la scorciatoia!!
Oh Fairport, NY.....what in the world....

NO WAY I SAW THE FIRST ONE AND TH THIRD ONE!
Who makes these SUVs? I want one!!!
Why There's Alot Of Siemens Charger Amtrak ALC42 In This Video Something Change Is Going On ?
The new Charger locos replacing the obsolete/worn out P40/P42 units on Amtrak system wide.
Well just a snapshot of what I have to deal with on a daily basis 🤨
Seems to be a lot of Darwin candidate's around railroad crossings 😅
I believe there may have been some alcohol involved.
2 cents for the thoughts of those car drivers (before they turn)... What goes on in their head?
👏👏👏🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷18:22
