    Great video !! I grew up in Parrish and worked for the railroad museum for 20 years which was headquartered about 20 miles up the old Parrish spur. before my wife and I moved our family away for another railroad job in Tennessee. From the time I was small kid in the 90s I used to railfan all of the spots you showed in this video! Even owned a percentage of the railroad switching company that operates the old piney point rail spur So much nostalgia is real in this video because how they back onto the train at 26th st was just how they did it when the Reefers were orange and the GE wide cabs were new ! Seeing Real ACL purple on that stretch of home rails where my love of trains formed almost brings tears to my eyes because I was always fascinated by the stories my Grandaddy who I railfaned with when I was little used to tell me about the railroads in town. Though of the two lines I am very preferably as Seaboard man (SAL) the only thing better would have been seeing the seaboard heritage unit back up the old Seaboard Parrish Main. Till about 2001 one used to be able watch trains on the spur cross the old SAL/ ACL diamond there bringing one or two covered hoppers for the heartland fertilizer company in downtown Palmetto behind the old Police department this was the old site of the SALs palmetto Ice house and engine terminal the yard took up most of the downtown area around 10th Ave. west and border by 9th St. W. It was all removed Minus the single track to heartland fertilizer between 1967 post merger and 1989 it’s all gone today I never saw it more than just the single track but it’s still cool to think about. The railroad used to be soo much busier than it is today but it’s good to see some of the practices have made their practical comebacks !
    Keep up the awesome work really enjoyed this cheers!

    Only minor corrections I would make to this would be that TS Tampa Southern was a wholly owned subsidiary of ACL meaning that ACL owned it at the time it was charted and just used the name to run a route to compete with the SAL to Sarasota which was built in 1903 almost 2 decades earlier

    All these years of being a railfan, and I had no idea that ACL ever had purple/silver locomotives. And IMO, and many others, CSX fell short on their paint jobs. I would hope that they would correct this on future heritage units, but doubtful. Great job capturing the beauty of 1871. And just FYI, I presume the juice cars are destine for North of Cincinnati where Tropicana has a big warehouse. I know this because I watch @1960gambit(s) videos from the Glendale, OH, and he catches them almost daily rolling through there, and calls the local "the orange juice express" .. thanks for another great vid, Christian.

    Great job! Your use of graphics is exceptional, and is one reason why I always enjoy your videos. The graphics really help me understand the operations, as I am unfamiliar with the area geography. I look forward to your next production!

    Outstanding video! Excellent commentary, really detailed coverage of the entire run, and very cool spooky fog for some really unique footage, especially for Florida.

    Dude! Your lucky! I saw the Seaboard System heritage unit and the Chessie System unit. I still have many more to catch on video. By the way Danny Harmon lives in the Tampa area and I think he is very excited to see a ACL heritage unit on the A Line pulling a freight train on home rails.

    Wow Christian-first of all your intel source(s) are great! I saw the 1871 on the VRF Waycross cam - noticing the exceptional high-gloss paint. So catching this unit, with its shiny finish was extraordinary. The drone shots of the Tropicana Yard are very informative regarding the massive size of the Tropicana plant complex. I have parked at that same location under the highway and watched the action but by no means could see the entire complex. Very well done!

    I’m not a big fan of CSX’s Heritage units. They should of painted the whole engine in Heritage Colors like Norfolk Southern and Union Pacific did. The paint jobs look good up until it reaches the back part of the cab. Just my opinion

    • @multicolorfilms
      @multicolorfilms  10 місяців тому

      I agree, but the heritage part of the engine is still quite impressive.
