    Tourette's syndrome is a neurological condition and disability which causes involuntary movements called tics. I use my platforms on social media such as TikTok, UA-cam and Instagram to advocate and raise awareness for the condition and show what it is like living with a disability as a teen in school.
    My name is Zara Beth (zeezee25 on tiktok) and I post videos about tics, tic disorders and what its like to be a teen living with Tourette's syndrome, Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) and a seizure disorder (NEAD/NES).
    I show what its like having tics and Tourettes in class and in school and college, vlog, and I also bake, do other challenges and answer all your questions in Q and A videos.
    I am also an ambulatory wheelchair user so I show what life looks like using various mobility aids and how needs change from day to day!
    I am also a musician! My newest release is my first single (original song) called "She's Mine" which is now available on all streaming services - I sing and play piano, guitar, ukulele and I write, produce, mix and master all my own songs and content myself!

      I can go about an hour without ticing, but then I get thinking about ticking in class or during a test. I had a tic attack during a test and had to leave the room till it was over. 😩

    This is why it’s also unhelpful if people are constantly treating you differently or reminding you that you have tics. then you’re thinking about the tics and trying to suppress them which just makes everything worse.

      I know, people need to remember things like this (I was thinking this: If she suppresses her tics it'll make them worse) there Is a girl in my guides unit that has tourrettes and she help out in rainbows so she usually holds in her tics so she doesn't scare the little ones so later that day when guides started her tics were worse since she'd been suppressing her tics so they got worse this shows that they can get worse

      @SystemError1466 Рік тому +2

      Actually it’s not impossible to tic in your sleep, it’s a more recent scientific discovery though. Studies showed anywhere from 13-100% of participants had tics during sleep (I can provide a source if anyone wants). It seems to be more likely during active sleep phases and if you have moderate-severe tics, but a lot of people don’t realize it happens because they’re asleep. (Also my partner told me I tic in my sleep a little bit, and I’ve seen one of my friends tic in their sleep, so I’m pretty sure it’s not impossible😂)

    Can you feel when your tics are coming??

    • @gloambug
      @gloambug 9 місяців тому +1

      someone with tics here: some people can't, some people can, but with therapy you can learn to recognise when they are coming and do things called 'repeating responses'. So once you are trained to regonise when its coming, you can then do something like stretching your arms or fixing your posture which usually can satisfy the urge, and greatly reduce the amount of tics you have (sometimes the repeating reponse doesn't work but its a useful way to keep your tics in control in public spaces and stuff like that)

    We tried this with my dad a while ago as he also has To it and it's true that when you're not actually thinking about suppressing it. It takes a lot longer but it isn't as verbal. It's more physical meaning. He could go about 5 minutes without a shoulder twitch or Neck twitch. If you get what I'm saying, but I suppose it's different for everyone. This is severe in a way that he can accidentally cause physical harm to himself by dis locating something. Ultimately, try to suppress it for too long. so ultimately I find it quite interesting. Help different everybody's to write screenacts and how some people can suppress it for a long. of time. And some people just can't.

    I just went through a period of like a week without any tics, and they're coming back for revenge XD
    These past few days I've ticced double what is normal for me.
    I find they're like sneezes, you can try to hold them in but it will not be pretty.
    Also they get worse with stress so when I'm on phone calls with friends or in class its a lot more often than when I'm alone.

      Some people do (studies showed around 13-100% of participants had tics during sleep) but most people don’t even realize it happens. Zara here has said she doesn’t know since she’s sleeping😂

    hey so I need some advice
    my friend has recently been diagnosed with toretes after having symptoms for a while. one of her tics is putting her middle finger up and she gets super upset with herself. so I want to know how I can reassure her that its not her fault. ❤

    • @earth-
      @earth- Рік тому +5

      Maybe showing her videos of other creators with Tourette’s? So she can see that it’s not her fault, she’s not alone, it’s ok etc. Also make sure that she knows that you know she can’t do anything abt it. The worst feeling is thinking others think you’re doing it intentionally :’)

      would check back through both this channel and ticcingtogether. 90% sure one or both creators has the middle finger tic too, but it's early morning so can't remember which.
