Tourette's syndrome is a neurological condition and disability which causes involuntary movements called tics. I use my platforms on social media such as TikTok, UA-cam and Instagram to advocate and raise awareness for the condition and show what it is like living with a disability as a teen in school.
My name is Zara Beth (zeezee25 on tiktok) and I post videos about tics, tic disorders and what its like to be a teen living with Tourette's syndrome. One of my bandmates has tourettes and during band the other day she just went still and was leaning over and one of her friends who plays euphonium said that she might be having a seizure because when she has one that is what she does

Me and my friend both have Tourette’s (well I have Tourette’s they have a ticking disorder). And when we hang out it’s a grand old time. It can get stress full when we hurt ourselves or each other (that’s always a concern but when we r together tics get really intense). But most of the time it’s fun and we laugh at the pain. And laugh at ourselves and each other. And copy each other.

My friend Claire has had Tourette’s since 2012 and it’s been so hard for her but I have been by her side since 2012 and she’s been getting a lot of hate but when she saw your vids she feels more safe to express who she really is so thanks Zara for helping my friend Claire out❤️🔥

I wish more than anything I could meet people going through the same thing as me. I did know somebody with TS but they moved away. I followed Neve a while ago (i think she had abt 500 followers at the time) but I just can't follow people with tics becuase I just pick them up. I'm so glad that you guys are able to meet eachother and be friends. Maybe one day I will meet other people with tics too xx
That’s a big issue for me. So I watch videos like this every now and then when I’m not having an active tic day, so it’s not as intense :)

I think I should go to some type of tourettes meet up. Feel so out of place in the world not knowing anyone with issues like mine. Seen others when I was young, but never really known and talked to someone else with tourettes. Great idea!
I love how Cece has a name for her Tourettes. I love the idea of people's tourettes being like a mischievous alter ego XD curious to know what your tourettes would be named now a years gone by, zara!
In order to help my younger sister understand, I explained it to her with the idea of Venom from Marvel in the sense that they do what they want without me really wanting them to, so that’s what she calls them when they start acting up:)

Something that always happens is that people with Tourette’s near others with the same syndrome will trigger eachother’s tics and so your group of Tourette’s people will become kind of loud and will cause triggers-
I don’t have Tourette’s so if I misunderstood something then feel free to correct me!
also noticed that this happens to every single nuerodivergent person with stims atleast once!

It is so interesting to watch and I appreciate you guys for bringing awareness. I am a nurse and came across a tiktok of you on Facebook, Zara, (your covid test) and now I’m on a full blown deep dive to educate myself. It is as if there is another person inside of some of you guys that tries to steal the spotlight and take over. There is a gamer girl (I can’t remember her name atm), but she is so nice and sweet and then her tics are almost always vulgar and sexual. Involuntary of course. What were you guys wearing around your necks?

it’s not for mask exemption, it’s for hidden disabilities
It's not a face mask exemption, it just signifies that they have a disibility, it's called the sunflower lanyard, but people who aren't disabled will use it to try to get out of wearing a mask

hi, I also have Tourette’s. I don’t have tiktok but I noticed a lot of the youtubers with Tourette’s that I follow wear sunflower lanyards and I was just wondering what they say
they’re a symbol for hidden disabilities! mine has a card explaining tourettes, a card explaining FND and my seizures - they’re for anyone with a disability that you wouldn’t automatically “see”
it symbolises that the person may need extra help when out and about💓

I've been on the planet a very long time as have my parents and none of us EVER saw, met, heard of even the slightest mention of anyone ever having this giant list of ridiculously mild, quirky symptoms and needing a wheelchair for some nonsense "disorder" and coincidentally has EVERY FASHIONABLE TIKTOK DISORDER! The fact that disorders have become fashionable is insane on its own. How people can't see that you are one of these fakers is insane

I’m sorry to ask but what are those green sunflower lanyards?
They show that the person wearing them has an invisible disability. You can google it to get a list of illnesses and disabilities it can include.
The people wearing them may need assistance, patience or wear it in case of a medical emergency. The card can have some information about their condition on it
They are hidden disability lanyards they symbolize that you have a disability that's not 'noticeable' at first sight, and that you may need assistance❤

Also, don't you think those "absence seizures" can be a form of your nervous system's "defensive reaction" for a sensory/emotional overload? Like in there's so much going on around you and you experience so many emotions in a short period of time that your brain goes like "Hol'up! let's take a break now. I need to sort all this stuff up and process it... ... ... ... Aight, I think all done. Let's proceed gathering information from our surroundings."?
I have moments that look liké Tourette but the doctors found nothing and Say that i don't have Tourette, do toi van explain ? Why I have that ans what I have ?
