Purple Joker SEEMED really OP, but you articulated it really well. Your goal is to assist the joker by playing as few hands as possible - and in so doing - causing you to use more discards. It does still seem quite good though
Two kinda connected questions about Extra credit: Is there any sevens jokers in the mod or planned? I remember sevens not having any jokers for them opposed with 2s that get like 3? (Wee, Hack, Fibonacci, last 2 aren't only for twos, but there aren't ANY jokers that work with sevens rank) Would be interesting to also see "middle" retrigger, like hack and sock and buscin If we say that "Ranks" means there is joker that retriggers these ranks, it looks kinda like this: A "K Q J" 10 9 8 7 6 "5 4 3 2" I can see how the only joker that would benefit from the middle retrigger is crystal ball and possibly sevens joker, but I still think it would be cool
One question I have about the extra credits mod is about joker synergies. Having not seen the full list i'm curious if there are any pairs similar in scope to midas/vampire from the base game?
Go Fish and Ship of Theseus have strong synergy. Werewolf has soft synergy with "suit changes every round" Jokers and more firm synergy with Prideful Joker. Forklift + Clown College. There's a bunch, actually. It's great!
In addition to all the Wild/Suit switcher synergies... Eclipse/Starfruit and Eclipse/Accretion Disk (though 2 Rares isn't that relevant). Forklift benefits Clown College and Ambrosia, Ambrosia and Espresso can trigger at the same time, Ship of Theseus works with Go Fish and Warlock, the latter of which is improved by re-triggers (Double Rainbow in EC). And then, of course, all the Jokers are compatible with the original 150 and any synergies therein (Eclipse anything that gives levels; Forklift Blue Seals, Ship with Trading Card...) Making sure the Jokers could contribute without the presence of other EC Jokers WAS part of the design consideration. Part of what the Doc means when he says "fit into the vanilla game". There's even a little more coming in Wave 3, stay tuned!
I think I know how to improve the Corgi. Have it eat a consumable when you play a hand. That way you can eat more than one a round, and you have a chance to use them before they get eaten.
An idea I got from watching this run is a joker that scales off of unused consumables. If fortune teller scaled, say, +2 mult per unused tarot card in your inventory at the end of a round, that would be pretty fun. It synergizes with purple seals and crystal ball and 8-ball, which feels thematic. It also incentivizes picking up deck building cards, which could help lead you away from pairs and towards more interesting hands. At the same time, it does disincentivize actually using those cards, but maybe halfway through the run when you start transitioning away from pairs to your straight flushes, that little extra bit oftarot magic helps you get your build quicker. What do you think?
ok, I think this idea is garbage. This joker wouldn't actually be that fun, because holding tarot cards isn't fun. It's using them which is fun. Ok, redesign. Fortune Teller now gains +4 mult for every tarot card used in an ante, and is now an uncommon joker. I still like the direct synergy this has with purple seals and 8-ball, which generate tarot cards during an ante (as opposed to hallucination, a slightly weaker synergy), but now we also get to use these cards right away, which is both stronger and more funky (hence uncommon) but also more fun. I don't think you take this joker every time, certainly in early antes it's expensive and slow, but this kind of plays the role of JJ, where maybe you pick it up in ante 3-5 and it quickly catches up to your bus/grimbo.
There exists in the extra credit mod a joker that does something like your original idea, named Toby the Corgi. It eats your held tarot cards in exchange for +mult. So far the doc has hated it lol, for much the same reason you gave in your follow up.
Kangaskhan in Pokermon mod does the same thing that forklift does, but has -1 hand. I like the way the forklift does it without the -1 hand, but is there any reason why there is the -1 hand in the pokermon mod equivalent? (i'm not super keyed in to pokemon, i thought maybe it has to do with the design/character of Kangaskhan rather than balance?)
Ship of Theseus puts the copy of the destroyed card back into the deck, the card is destroyed like normal, so copying sixth sense wouldn’t destroy it twice since the 6 isn’t being kept in your played hand
@@ROL4NDpkmnguide Small blind 1 becomes very rng heavy thanks to blue stake, and big blind 1 requires you to luck into a saturn card or scoring joker to win
The interesting jokers incentivise you to play differently. Purple joke rewards you for playing normally. It also is a joker that rewards itself, the bigger it gets the bigger it helps it get. Theres no downsides. As it is it does not bring anything to the game.
Purple Joker is actually quite a big divergence from most scaling /and/ value-generating game pieces which reward you for repeating an action as many times per Round as possible (Bus and Square and Rebate and Gold Seals, etc). In fact, "sandbagging" is the norm, and Purple requires you sacrifice all of that.
the video was like the best case scenario for the purple joker. i'm not sure what you mean when you say purple incentivizes you to play normally because usually it can be very clunky because you want to save both hands AND discards to maximize its scaling, but lower value hands need more hands to play while higher value hands need discards to get to. he was able to get to a set of jokers that not only allowed him to one shot the early blinds but also merry to scale up purple much faster. i would say that's a unique enough combo for one to "bring something to the game" even if it ended being just another pair run or whatever.
Yeah, Merry Andy was a fun surprise. Gratification and Banner reward you for being conservative with Discards, but Purple scaling from unused Discards is novel.
great example of how to transition out of pairs into a winning hand
that's the fun part; you don't
So from pairs to pairs

Unclear! Maybe it was an homage to Troubadour
46:25 spooky skeleton deck
I'm a very casual player and honestly don't understand this game too much... But this shit is so relaxing and hypnotizing to watch 😂😂
Welcome to the team.
Purple joker does seem kinda OP
Question: with Ship of Theseus, is it possible to copy sixth sense with BP/BS?
Ship of Theseus puts the copy of the destroyed card back into the deck, the card is destroyed like normal, so copying sixth sense wouldn’t destroy it twice since the 6 isn’t being kept in your played hand
Is ship of Theseus compatible with copying? Can you use sixth sense with ship and a bunch of bps as a sixes printer? That would be hilarious
@@nemo53 It is copy-compatible, but you might wind up bloating your deck very quickly!
@@Expelsword so it is a sixes printer
I had this random idea
Purple Deck:
All blinds have the scoring requirement of a small blind (1x)
Violent Vessel and The Wall in shambles
The small deck?
i feel like that's insanely op (and also kinda boring to play since you dont have the constant feeling of 'keeping up')
Purple deck: all blinds are doubled, no cards can be debuffed, +1 joker slot, +1 consumable slot
would need a huge downside tbh because otherwise that's way too strong
@@ROL4NDpkmnguide Small blind 1 becomes very rng heavy thanks to blue stake, and big blind 1 requires you to luck into a saturn card or scoring joker to win
Random but I will say I’d love to see you play ballionaire it’s a rogue like pachinko game
I saw Murphy and Roffle play. It's new; seems fun!
