Retromation, just to note because you skipped several busted jokers, when something says it gives a +4 mult, it increases the multiplier by 4, but when something says it gives a x2 mult, it MULTIPLIES the multiplier by two.
Ah yes! The demo is so much fun. Can't wait for the full release. I wouldn't mind a playthrough series at release 😊
The Balatro Paradox:
If a card has an ability that makes it a club, It can be debuffed by the boss blind that debuffs clubs. But, if a card is debuffed, it's ability is disabled, which means it's not a club. However, if it's not a club, the boss blind can't debuff it, etc...

I guess it would be a paradox if it started debuffed but what you're saying is like the order is given to execute a prisoner, the guard executes them and says "I can't execute them, they're already dead." To which the warden says, "are you okay, Eugene? You've already done it, you killed them. Do you think you'd benefit from counselling?" and the guard, Eugene, is like, "No, I'm good. I'm just demonstrating a paradox" and the Warden, let's call her Patty, is thoughtful and eventually says, "well, I'm going to send you for a psychiatric evaluation... STOP MESSING WITH THAT BODY. He's already dead, Eugene." Either way there's no paradox

There's a setting to speed up the game and it really helps with the later hands.

Edit: the final boss is always the cerulean bell in this demo 😅, you just need some busted jokers to win
Kind of interesting how much this borrows autobattler mechanics. The genres are slowly becoming one.
Edit: Last boss was definitely a Time Eater moment.
I ignored the hype and waited for Reto's veteran coverage of this awesome game.
Yeees more Balatro! I've been playing the hell out of this demo myself, looking forward to the full release.
I think the final boss encourages keeping the tarot / use cards around so you can change the card that gets selected for you into something better if it picks a bad card
So excited for this game to finally release, it's a super fun game even in the demo. I'm also waiting for a similar-ish game that for some reason didn't pick up as much called Dungeons and Degenerate Gamblers. I'm not sure why, but it could be the difference in art style and mechanics.
yep played D&DG a few times now, it is probably my preferred, but it also isn't out yet so who knows!
That was a good run... Would be interesting to see someone buff like their two pair to the moon or something. Super cool game.

@31:30 idk play much of poker, but I would've thought that straights joker was 🔥. I'd think it make straight flushes easier?
hey rito, I was trying to find a specific video, but i'm having trouble. It's a Revita video, where you were doing a shard 30 run I think to get gold for one of the guns, and you ended up not getting hit up to acceptance, and you decided to end the run there to get the no hit achievement. I've been trying to get that same achievement for awhile lol. Just a reminder of how much better you are lol.
I love Balatro and I love Reto, which is why, I guess, UA-cam waited until Valentine's Day to give me the notification for this! (I would also love to see a serieeees!!!!
Kickers don't score but they can be useful for discarding cards you don't want.

On the last boss: couldn’t you just submit more than 5 cards so your auto-selected card doesn’t really matter?
Nope! 5 is the maximum played hand size.
