When playing a secret android you're supposed to do all rolls as if you were human. So the fact that they can all see his rolls adds to the illusion that he was indeed human.
@@phaolo6 no spoiler for Ep.6 yes spoiler for Chariot of the Gods Scenario but that's basically this whole series, I deduced it like 2 episodes ago using my knowledge of the game (and scenario) and the way ravs was acting. Look at the date I commented and the date they uploaded.
I love that Ben’s early panics actually gave all his teammates stress but since Ben has recovered his, he is almost fine. everyone else is panicking instead.
Quickly becoming one of my favourite channels on UA-cam. The constant variety of players and games keep the content fresh, but Tom's excellent DMing weaves it all together with consistent quality.
24:14 Fun Fact: In the Year 2468, Weyland-Yutani Corporation changed the official timekeeping unit over to Freeza Minutes to allow a lot more actions to be performed in a shorter (perceived) length of time.
So concerning to hear a computer voice say your ship is about to explode but they don’t sound sure of how long is left on the countdown timer. “T-minus…six? …minutes?”
Honestly it's super interesting to have characters that have their own motivations, yet still kind of work together. It's not a simple "blast your mates" but more sneaky like, yet you still kind of want a good outcome for all. Very nicely done with the edit as well, love the sneak bits after the fact. No spoilers, but we're still being kept in the loop! Love it!
Massive Props to the editing team on this series, the eerie sound effects of the ship, the screams and alien noises, whilst im loving the RPG of all the players (Go wilson!) i do have to say the editing team really puts it all together for me! Well done!
This playthrough has been my favourite so far on MysteryQuest and just cant wait for the next part. I would love to see more of the alien rpg scenarios in future, the setting and aesthetic are just some of my favourite. The editing, especially the sounds make it so easy to imagine these scenes playing out. Is it Tom Bates editing these? Whoever is editing well done on making it so immersive.
This has been my favorite series by far, enough so that I actually bought the alien rpg for myself to run a game of, thank you Tom you magnificent bastard!
Just a small plug for the membership on this channel - if you are fan of the game Microscope or liked when Yogs played it years ago, there is a new microscope playthrough that was released on Wednesday as members only video featuring Ravs, Lyds, PFlax & Tom. Highly recommend!
Tom should do a mystery quest where the players don't know what genre it is. Just watching people playing a horror game when it's really noir or something would be cool, especially with misdirection towards other genres.
I'm in the planning/prepping stage for a space campaign that's gonna blend aspects of Shadowrun, Classic DnD, and Alien. I'm not telling them its gonna be horror, all they're gonna know is they make deliveries and deal with shenanigans along the way
Yeah, I feel like playing in a setting like Alien really makes it hard for the players and audience to get into a spooky mood. It’s obviously gonna be a xenomorph and maybe a facehugger encounter on a space ship or a space colony.
Not even just mystery quest. Horror is at its best when its an unexpected twist in another genre. Its crazy how rarely i see this happen in any medium.
Thats one of the neat things about the Aliens RPG. You can start as a game that could go more towards Gravity or The Martian, and not even have any xenomorphs despite being incredibly stressful
I always though Noir with a sci-fi twist would be great. Apart from Dark City I can't really think of an example. But it would be cool to be chasing a McGuffin and it turns out its actually something alien.
I love how ben always plays his character exactly how they are meant to be played, no matter what the risk is to everyone else, in every role play he does. I would find it hard to do that but he seems to relish in it.
Trying to avoid spoiling, but when you watch the ending of episode 6, come back to this one and rewatch from 43:38. Trust me, will be worth it by then.
Thank you so much for this. I’ve been trying to go back and listen for those subtle “rosary” references. That surprise, just adds the cherry on top of this whole series.
Man the weekly installments are killing me :D haha. Wilson nearly being pushed by the corpo lady was sweet justice :D haha But all are playing their characters so well also :D
Of course they did. It's the 3rd best Alien film to date. There is never going to be another Alien film that can surpass the first 2 films. The position of Alien & Aliens has ossified in the public consciousness, so the best place any future Alien films can compete for is 3rd place. Romulus is currently in 3rd. Hopefully, we'll get future films that will displace it to the 4th or 5th.
The previous Alien RPG story you ran was brilliant, but this might be my favourite series on MQ you've done so far. All the set pieces are brilliant and excellently navigated by the team, the characters are excellently roleplayed (if a little tropey- but that's not a negative for this setting!) and believable in their roles. I'm devastated when I get to the end of each week's episode, but at the same time relieved that there's still more of this story still to come! Just pure *chef kiss*
I’m so happy this channel popped into my algorithm, you’ve made my job like 100 times better and people just turn and laugh at me when I crack up out of nowhere, the acting and delivery of lines is so infectious and absorbing, absolutely in love ❤ 🙏
I love how the most dangerous thing in this playthrough so far haven't been the massive killer aliens, but just corporate people blowing reactors up for the sake of profit and the company.
Well.. It's Alien! The Corporations have honestly always been the most dangerous thing, as they're literally why the Xenomorphs and their cousins keep becoming a problem haha
It's never been more worth it to be a member than RIGHT now, this was so good it flew by, and I'm happy that we get a WHOLE OTHER GAME SESSION of microscope to tide me.over! More than worth the $5!!
Wilson's great because of Trott's acting and the interplay with Lyds. But by god, chaos agent Ben playing Davis is my favorite character. Tweaker pilot stuntman coward. He's the Bill Paxton of this campaign.
My work schedule has been so off this week that I forgot to watch this until now. But boy howdy am I gloud I remember this was a great episode. I'm really waiting for like the ultimate eel twist from our lovely Androids going to be amazing.
Been a fan of mystery quest for sometime now, and after watching and rewatching countless sessions I finally hosted my own Chariot of the Gods with my own group and it went amazingly! Just finished the first Act, and really cannot wait to see how the team manages to tackle this campaign in comparison to you guys. Love the work, will deffo be a member soon!
You settle your bags and start to unpack, but an alert from your phone unsettles you. It seems, in your hurry, you let the alerts go and get wild. It's a long list, and it's mostly populated by Angory and Yogscast videos but... what's that? A couple Mistery Quest vids? Are you hallucinating? Or are you on a... Mistery Quest?!
loved this series! Great setting and great character choices thanks for the continued great content! TWO Great members episodes too, an entire one shot dedicated for MEMBERS as opposed to just extended cuts is AMAZING work.
When I ran this one, I ran the 10-minute timer in (close to) real time with an active count down timer. Also a fun way to do it to put some stress on the players. Both ways seem fun to me!
The intrigue and the sheer horror from paranoia in this adventure are absolutely great! *Spoilers* The description of the footsteps ON the outside of the umbilical *chef kiss*
Every mystery quest intro is either "you've stumbled into a horrific scene of violence and madness" or Bingus and Bongus stole your pies
And I wouldn't have it any other way!
And i eat it up every time
and I'll f***ing kill Bongus while Bingus watches for it!
The duality of rpg’s-often experienced in a single session.
Both in the openings and in the episodes too.
"Are you not alarmed by this?!" "Well, it's Order 966." I'm secretly cheering for Wilson.
An absolute fantastic corporate character
"youre gonna scoop it up with your fucking hands" i love that after all these years it still goes around 😂

Two a week would be awesome!
