I love that the rest of the crew's secret agenda is somewhat selfish and mildly evil (find drugs, get money, etc.)... Meanwhile, Cham's is just 'be the best crewmate possible'.
I love how the characters can have secret sessions with Tom and even pass off notes to him to do things without the other players knowing. Really keeps the suspense in the room as even the players don't know everything that's going on.
I’m really enjoying this Alien RPG. The nervousness of the players, wackiness of their schemes and great GMing is making it a really fun spooky listen.
The foley work on these episodes are just so fantastic and add so much to the atmosphere. Like adding the sound of ravs exiting the locker? So subtle but adds so much
I think I've mentioned this before on Forget Me Not, but I always really appreciate every player's dedication to their characters/secret objectives, it keeps the games really dynamic and unpredictable. Even if the table has the same players, it's like watching a group of entirely different people, love you Mystery Quest! Always love high stakes/dangerous TTRPG systems 🧡

I want to run this adventure because I love the Alien franchise, but the only thing I don’t like is that it runs on the Year Zero Engine which I’m not much of a fan of, it’s fun listening to compared to playing.
HAHAHA YES this was such an amazing episode hihi Introduced my father to the first episode of the series while going for a car ride. He’s been roleplaying him self since he was 15 years and is still doing it. He really loved your content. Much much love to Lydia, Trott, Ravs and Ben ❤️ and all the love to Tom ❤❤
This has been amazing. Can't wait for episode 5 and post-game chat. Also, loved the Alien TTRPG you guys played on Games Night (the members cut was super fun as always). I highly recommend to everybody to give it a watch.
you forgot the sarcasm tag...........I dont think a veteran leader and good space captain would lose the plot every 20 seconds and shake a person numerous times, but ok
I kinda disagree. I like Lydia, and her performance here is good, but Miller is a terrible captain! She isn't decisive, and barely has control of her crew. At the start of the episode, Miller had an effective crew of eight people. By the midpoint, she was effectively back down to four (herself, Davis, Cham, and Dr. Flynn). By the end of the episode she had pushed Dr. Flynn away, and didn't even consider bringing the seemingly very loyal Cham with her in the escape pod. She let Johns storm off by himself to fix the air scrubbers with only an unarmed crewmate for backup, and she continually antagonized Wilson to the point where he has little reason to ever side with her, despite their goals being remarkably aligned in many ways. Miller is greedy, self-centered, shortsighted, and petty. She picked a loose cannon junkie to be her confidant, and is well on her way to pushing all other reasonable help away. A terrible idea in a survival situation. All that being said, Lydia is doing a fantastic job of playing this character! She's clearly loving being this absolute slime-ball of a captain, and I'm interested to see how she winds up.
@@irregularassassin6380 Agree with the other comment, I love Lydia, but Miller didn’t bring any gear onto the other ship, she’s incredibly hostile, indecisive, has no control over the crew or people that she’s not threatening, and to be honest, borderline constantly cruel. Her character condemns the corporate side of things, yet turns around and does the exact same thing, trying to betray half the crew to sell the weapon for herself while always trying to uplift her person in one way or another. Miller is genuinely awful lol. Again, Lydia is awesome, but this character is petty, arrogant, violent, and doesn’t seem like a good captain, or a good person at all, pretty much on par with the other corporate stooges. Except she thinks she’s better than them. Gotta separate Lydia from her character here to really make the distinction imo.
@@irregularassassin6380 Well that's what I mean right? I don't mean she's playing the best space captain, I mean I believe her as a space captain, flaws and all, in a fun little ttrpg campaign.
@@MartinDubuque That's the thing, though. A platonic ideal of a captain has few of these qualities, therefore Miller is not "the best space captain." Miller is, in fact, a terrible space captain. Lydia's performance _is_ fantastic however, and I hope she's having a blast.
I had seen every episode of Mystery Quest before they started their Alien RPG series. And their channel (and a few others, shout out to The Panic Table playing Mothership that was pretty great) has inspired me to try my hand at Gming, and the game and scenario I had chosen as my first was Chariot of the Gods. I am hoping to get out first game later this fall. My only other experience with ttrpgs is that I have played DnD regularly online with some friends for the last four and a half years, 150 sessions according to our log. From that and various youtube channels (Glass Cannon Network to name one) my enthusiasm for the hobby has blossomed forth like a chestburster breaking through the ribcage. So seeing episode one of this pop up was fantastic! I had literally just ordered the Starter Set and am now reading the Core rulebook. Decided to wait reading through the Chariot of the God scenario until this series was finished (not going to get the first session going for a month or two yet anyway). Love this channel and love this series. Mystery Quest and now The Panic Table are the only two ttrpgs I support of patreon and I hope they keep this up for many more shows, and I really hope we get to see them take on the other Alien RPG cinematic scenarios in the future!
Nice, I've been waiting for this video to get posted. Also who's ever making the thumbnails for this series is doing a bang up job! Great job everyone, keep em coming!
What a great twist. Glad to see the Asimov programming finally got a few of the kinks out. Waiting for new episodes of this series got me feeling more suspense than the Golden Gate Bridge.
this series is fantastic, have dipped in and out of MQ in the past but this is the one that has got me hooked! always been such a huuuge alien fan and you guys are all nailing the vibe and tropes while telling such a good story together ❤ went back and binged mothership haunting of ypsilon 14 to scratch this itch while waiting for this episode, i guess i'd better start watching the other MQ eps to cope with the wait to the next alien episode!!
Wild twist at the end there, I'm loving this series. This system seems like it can be rough if not done properly, but Tom and crew are doing an amazing job

Trott is always such a phenomenal Roleplayer. His commitment to the "stiff, horrible corporate romance" bit was amazing
I love that as the company guy, he's more cold and unpersonable than the actual robots of this universe
I love that the rest of the crew's secret agenda is somewhat selfish and mildly evil (find drugs, get money, etc.)... Meanwhile, Cham's is just 'be the best crewmate possible'.
Hilariously, Ravs spent most of this episode playing Cham as a coward acting seemingly in their own best interest.
