You forgot one important thing: despite staring into each others eyes while dancing and "falling in love" during that short period, the Prince could not remember Cinderella's face. If he had he wouldn't have needed to have every girl try on the glass slipper. Just one look at her face would have told him since Cinderella doesn't have a twin sister. There are only two possible explanations: the Prince is either cares more about a girl's feet and footwear than her face OR he has some sort of condition that prevents him from distinguishing people's faces, which would actually be kinda sad.
I think this story element could be fixed rather easily- have the prince be sick. That would explain the king's obsession with heirs, and why the Prince coudn't go looking personally.

+Penny Lane Interesting insight. +Matt Richardson While I don't think that this would be an appropriate message today, that's actually pretty significant change of mind for 1950. Not right, but a very prudent way to make a huge change in direction, even if it is so subtle today that we can't make out the difference. Also, I would like to point out that everyone has strengths that they can use to achieve their goals. Or maybe it has something to do with befriending dark mice XD.
Matt Richardson Well, I think as they humorously pointed out here, the prince wasn't really interested in anyone until Cinderella. Personally, I was kindof under the impression that her charm was balanced. She wasn't a try-hard like her sisters, but she wasn't totally shy (been a while, so maybe she was). And circumstances beyond the prince's knowledge probably made her come off as quirky as well. She definitely stood out personality wise, whether this had anything to do with the prince's decision I guess is a matter of interpretation.

Am I the only one who thought that the message of this movie was not "Be a complete pushover," but "Work hard, be kind to everyone, and one day, al your hard work might pay off"?
It was Walt Disneys favourite fairy tale, because it showes hard work payes off. But obviously that Movie was from the 50s, where a woman reward is a rich, handsome dude. Like InkHeart17 I think they tryed again with more modern values for girls.
Hard work didn't save her though, the prince and the fairy god mother, and the animals did. My gosh, her life goal was to go to the ball for crying out loud.

Have you guys seen Cinderella 3? It's essentially Cinderella's stepmother trying to overwrite reality to get one of her daughters into Cinderella's place, and Cinderella, without the fairy godmother's help, hiking up her boots and sorting out the whole mess by herself. It's kinda badass.

Fun fact: The oldest known version of Cinderella is a thousand-year-old Chinese fairytale. This is likely why Cinderella is famous for her tiny feet - foot binding was really popular when said version of the story was created; it'd be a cultural shorthand way of saying "she was a total babe".
I thought the message of Cinderella was not to lose hope? Anyway, what else was Cinderella supposed to do in her situation? During that time period she simply could not leave. Women in those days would not have gotten very respectable (or financially stable) jobs so they could support themselves. I know that really sucks, but that is just the way it was at the time period. I know its sad that she had to resort to marrying a guy for her problems to go away, but that was pretty much all she could do. By the way, Frozen was hardly the first Disney movie to have strong female characters. Mulan, Pocahontas, Esmerelda, Belle and Tiana were all better role models than Anna and Elsa.
JJdaPK You've voiced everything I've been saying for years about Cinderella! Even Snow White doesn't deserve the flak she gets. Does nobody remember when she demanded the dwarves wash up or else they weren't eating at all? And they listened to her. Pushover? Weak? Puh-lease, she is _boss_. Also, Snow White actually repaid her gratitude by being useful. She wasn't cooking and cleaning because it was her "place", she did it because after being forced to be a scullery maid for her stepmother these were her strongest learned skills. She cleaned the filthy cottage and cooked supper for the inhabitants because she said herself that if she does something in return for them, maybe they'd let her stay and keep her a secret (you know, so she doesn't get her heart carved out and placed in a box). Fair trade, I'd say. Even though she was royalty, she never just sat around while the dwarves waited on her, she actually worked for her keep in exchange for their kindness. Personally, I think the earlier Disney princesses are way more awesome than they're given credit for. They knew the meaning of rolling up their sleeves. You don't even have to stay around the 90's renaissance for those. 1985 had Princess Eilonwy of The Black Cauldron, she wasn't really a slouch, either. And even further back, was Perdita staying at home while Pongo went to save their children? Nope, she was there too, and she was even alongside him to crash through a window and attack Horace and Jasper. People who say Frozen was revolutionary for Disney are clearly reactionary people and are talking out of their asses. Most are in serious need of a refresher course in Disney movies that came before.
I agree with everything you said! Ok so what was the message of Snow White? I never got it bc she's always been a bland character until once upon a time.
There were a lot of single women working on their on in the 1950s. But this movie isn't about realism. It's a fairy tale about a young woman that wanted to marry her one true love, a Prince.
JJdaPK To be honest, I think it is more of a case of begin in abuse family then begin a women. I mean, sorry, that story in more realistic maner could happen in any period of time. As child gets abused so grown up weak and can't properly protect herself and when she meets someone who wants to help her and love her she find power and confidence even if she still afraid. Cinderella is a simple tail and it's timeless becouse of that.
The best strong, female Disney princesses are Mulan and Belle. Mulan blows off an arranged marriage, saves her father's life by taking his place, defends her family's honor, defeats the enemy, and saves China. Yes, she had to use some deception, but no one is perfect. Belle values intelligence, is unwilling to settle for Gaston, gives up her freedom to save her father, and just generally gets things done.
Leydi Morales treasure planet, brother bear, probably most of pixar movies (like Brave), alice in wonderland, pinocchio, dumbo, the jungle book, winnie the pooh, the great detective mouse, fantasia...doesn't revolve on a romance story...
Actually, Mulan didn't blow off the marriage, she got kicked out because she was clumsy and spilled tea on the matchmaker x'D Mulan is my favourite too, but I don't think people give Cinderella enough credit. She's very strong as well, albeit in a different way. She endures abuse from her family for years without ever growing hopeless or harboring any bitterness towards them. Despite her trying circumstances she remains optimistic, kind and patient. That takes a lot of strength, and though it may not be as heroic as saving China, it's still worthy of admiration.
Cinderella was and still is a inspiration to me. She was Walt's favorite princess because he seen a lot of himself in the tale. Coming from the ashes and rising to accomplish what he always wanted.
TDR CGM Maybe Esmeralda's eyes represent her being accused of being an evil woman performs dark magic. Based on how her and the other Gypsies are looked at by Frolo.
NeighborhoodCatLady honestly i think they did that to make her stand out, disney does that a lot it gives either a distinctive hair or eye color to its protagonist that almost no other character in the movie has ariel if i recall well is the only redhead, rapunzel in tangled the only blonde etc plus her name is esmeralda which is spanish for emerald a green gem Though this guy is right green eyed people are apparently evil i mean even in game of thrones the lannisters are known for being green eyed blondes 😂
Cinderella is a very misunderstood character if you ask me. She's a domestic abuse survivor who despite having been traumatized and manipulated for so long manages to retain her dignity and inner beauty. Cinderella was very strong to advocate for herself and assert her right to go to the ball like everyone else.
“We are mice as smart as people We could kill you in your sleep-le Go ahead and tell somebody No one will believe you~” Gets me and my sister every time.
Thank you for Showing the Rodgers and Hammerstein Cinderella with Brandy version. I love that version. But no-one seems to know it. It is excellent with a great divers cast!
HannaOreos ™ Enchanted is an affectionate parody of Disney princess movies, which themselves are pretty different which you'd see if you'd bother to watch them. The morals are pretty much the same though.
Just remember times were very different when this came out. I loved Cinderella as a child, but I never grew up thinking that was an accurate representation of life. I know this is just for humour, but I wish people would stop reading into everything so much and realise kids just see a fun movie.
When I was a kid, my favourite part of this movie was watching the Grand Duke trying to do his job without being executed by the senile king. And I admit that it still is.
I don't think Cinderella is demeaning at all! The poor girl is forced to be a slave to her evil step family and just wanted one night out for pete's sake. It wasn't her intention to meet and fall in love with the prince, it just happened. It taught be as a child that even if you have a shitty life, anyone can have a happily ever after, and that good things happen to those who are good and true.
Yeah, I think we've gotten to the point where we just presume all old movies send terrible messages and don't actually examine them. A poor girl gets the chance to leave her situation for a night to enjoy herself. Does send a good message that even if things seem bad there may be chances to find some happiness and get out of your situation. That was a medieval kind of situation thus limited means for her situation to realistically improve. You want a modern spin just have Cinderella be a poor person who thanks to some kindness from outside gets the money to have some fun and happens to buy a lottery ticket, wins the lottery and escapes her bad situation.
It was an animated kids movie, kids enjoyed it because it was a nice story with a happy ending, they didn't worry about whether it was demeaning or not

"Thank for the dress, lady, but it would've helped so much more if you had called Child Protective Services, like, twelve years ago."
I'm sayin'. 🤷
this is the best honest trailer ever
Alejandra Arias without a doubt😂
1:34 That bit was just priceless. the two falling scenes actually do look pretty similar. :)
I agree
"gets bran stark'ed out the window" lmao bye

Yeah, it's really not too hard to defend this masterpiece. It's just that talking about it like it's the worst thing on earth is funnier.
Best honest trailer in a while. What would i do without you guys!
watch someone that isn't screen junkies
Nicholas Cardenas but they exist.
"Unrealistic expectations of relationships that girls carry into adulthood" - you're SO right! :) LOL
What about Jasmine from Aladdin? I thought she was pretty strong for a Disney princess.
Don't forget Merida!! The only Disney PRINCESS movie where there is no romance involved, but shows the relationship between a girl and her mother!
what about esmeralda?
Leydi Morales treasure planet, brother bear, probably most of pixar movies (like Brave), alice in wonderland, pinocchio, dumbo, the jungle book, winnie the pooh, the great detective mouse, fantasia...doesn't revolve on a romance story...
Actually, Mulan didn't blow off the marriage, she got kicked out because she was clumsy and spilled tea on the matchmaker x'D
Mulan is my favourite too, but I don't think people give Cinderella enough credit. She's very strong as well, albeit in a different way. She endures abuse from her family for years without ever growing hopeless or harboring any bitterness towards them. Despite her trying circumstances she remains optimistic, kind and patient. That takes a lot of strength, and though it may not be as heroic as saving China, it's still worthy of admiration.
please do "mean girls"
YESYESYESYES!!!
Hmm... I can't envision a parody trailer of a movie that pretty much parodies itself.
JakeIsFine379 haha, true
Pleaseee do
Yeah please "mean girls"!!
Cinderella was and still is a inspiration to me. She was Walt's favorite princess because he seen a lot of himself in the tale. Coming from the ashes and rising to accomplish what he always wanted.
"I know the stepmother was bad, but good luck with the father in law" 😂😂😂
1:26 "It would've been more helpful if you bibbidi-bobbidi-called child protective services like, 8 years ago." XD
I agree
bad people have green eyes. stepmother, the black cat, simbas uncle, esmeralda, me...
disgrace kelly esmeralda wasnt bad though
TDR CGM Maybe Esmeralda's eyes represent her being accused of being an evil woman performs dark magic. Based on how her and the other Gypsies are looked at by Frolo.
ur mom
NeighborhoodCatLady honestly i think they did that to make her stand out, disney does that a lot it gives either a distinctive hair or eye color to its protagonist that almost no other character in the movie has ariel if i recall well is the only redhead, rapunzel in tangled the only blonde etc plus her name is esmeralda which is spanish for emerald a green gem
Though this guy is right green eyed people are apparently evil i mean even in game of thrones the lannisters are known for being green eyed blondes 😂
mukaddes baykara
Some bad people have red eyes.
"Unrealistic expectations that girls carry into adulthood"
Cinderella is a very misunderstood character if you ask me. She's a domestic abuse survivor who despite having been traumatized and manipulated for so long manages to retain her dignity and inner beauty. Cinderella was very strong to advocate for herself and assert her right to go to the ball like everyone else.
Just do all the Disney animated movies. Its unanimous that we all want that.
“We are mice as smart as people
We could kill you in your sleep-le
Go ahead and tell somebody
No one will believe you~”

That depends, who's asking.
Thank you for Showing the Rodgers and Hammerstein Cinderella with Brandy version. I love that version. But no-one seems to know it. It is excellent with a great divers cast!
Finally, someone point out that the King was going to execute the servant if he failed to find Cindarella.
He wasn't even a servant. He was a high ranking member of the nobility. The kingdom looks like it may be headed for a civil war soon.
hardrockfreak1337 Yeah, he was a Duke!
InkHeart17, either way, the king was some obsessed with the thought of grandchildren, he threatened someone with death penalty.
Do enchanted :D.
Not ella enchanted, "Enchanted".
Comment if you agree.
Oreo Bae enchanted isn't about cinderella
amari wilson Dude..Its disney..Its the same.
amari wilson I think he/she's making a request for the next trailer.
HannaOreos ™ Enchanted is an affectionate parody of Disney princess movies, which themselves are pretty different which you'd see if you'd bother to watch them. The morals are pretty much the same though.
Kimi FW ik but its hilarious.
Just remember times were very different when this came out. I loved Cinderella as a child, but I never grew up thinking that was an accurate representation of life. I know this is just for humour, but I wish people would stop reading into everything so much and realise kids just see a fun movie.
yep, some people just have too much time.
You must be really fun at parties :/
Exactly. Kids don't read into that sort of thing it's only adults who do
Me too
YOU never grew up thinking that was an accurate representation of life.
Says "And the Story of Menstruation" in a bright, cheery voice, no exaggerations, just simply another loveable, classic Disney film!"
And now they should do "Beauty and the Beast"!
Yes please
yeah. i wonder what they will do with Gaston's song. he already is a parody of himself
That unfortunately will have to wait until March 2017 when the live-action remake is coming out.
jbvader i'm sure they were on about the Disney version!
+Rainielovealways But they COULD make an honest trailer of that one, too! We're just gonna have to wait for it...
Blunova
the issue is that people completely forget about context and judge everything by modern beliefs. honest trailers is doing that but as a joke.
Yea, as long as you're a woman with nice tits anf a smokin hot body
It was an animated kids movie, kids enjoyed it because it was a nice story with a happy ending, they didn't worry about whether it was demeaning or not
She also worked hard for it. Besides, for most of history, a single woman had an extremely difficult life.
You forgot The Slipper and the Rose from the 70s. My personal favorite adaptation because of the music, it’s more realistic, and has flavor
Now let's see "Sleeping Beauty" and "Snow White"... Anyone? Anyone?
Yes!!!
Thank you, Jenny Amponsah
yass
Actually I'm A Cat awesome
+MsGrizabella You have my support.
2:45 "We can kill you in your sleeple" Is that done on purpose or a typo?
On purpose so as to rhyme with people.

LilyTheBunny Girl Tf
please: where's the honest trailer for "FIFTY SHADES OF GREY"????? I'm waiting!!!!!!
I don't think they can do an Honest Trailer until the DVD comes out.
I KNOW RIGHT?! It's a freaking atrocity already. I wanna know what they'd say about that crappy movie.
I think it's better to just stop giving that monstrosity any more publicity.
They should do Secretary, even though it's a far better movie than fifty.
Do the fifty shades of grey honesto trailer
"Bibbidi-bobbidi called Child Protection Services." 😂
Say: "There's no easy way to say this...I'm pregnant, Trevor."
Agreed!! From the Deadpool trailer!!
Doctor Awesome Why does this comment not have more likes!? :)
Well, mice are hyper-intelligent pan-dimensional beings who are the most intelligent species on the planet Earth, after all. :P
oh really, that must be why they found the answer to the meaning of life, the universe and everything :P
True, but they also can't figure out the question for the answer 42. In other words, they'd bomb Jeopardy.
"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy "
Love2memore they already found the question and the answer so the universe became something even stranger... like a disney movie
Meo AgCat if they had worked a hyper intelligent Brockian Ultra-Cricket gag into this trailer it would have made my day
