Just the other day I had to sell my most beloved guitar - a 2009 Fender Road Worn 60s Stratocaster - which I bought in 2014 (almost had it for 10 years) to put food on the table. Literally had teary eyes when I handed it to its new owner, as it was the one that was with me all the way from being an amateur to now a part-time session guitarist for a local production house. Currently had to settle with a tele, and I have plans for which guitar I want/need to acquire next. Was never thinking of getting another strat since it has its own shortcomings. But I still think that that out-of-phase tones from the strat is not replicatable elsewhere. Always admired PRS when it comes to quality control and their line of products, even their base entry models are great and being used on stage by artists far and wide. Now that I find it possible to get that out-of-phase on this 24-08, I might as well get this rather than another strat instead.
I bought my first PRS guitar yesterday and it happened to be this one. I love it. It plays so easy and the sound it top notch. I was worried it would be heavy like a Les Paul, but I was surprised by how light they are. I am super happy with mine and will definitely be buying another in the future.
You can tell that Jon really enjoyed playing this guitar: he literally flew across the fretboard incorporating difficult techniques to a degree beyond what even he usually does. His playing was inspired, in part, I believe, because this guitar inspired him! 🙂 Jon, you literally killed it and definitely put this SE Standard 24-08 on my radar!

I have an older made in Korea, i believe custom 24 se. i love it. Completely different sounding pickups, and the fret wear, i bend a lot, are the only things i have had to tend to. But for the price that is a beauty… I can tell when you’re enjoying playing on a specific guitar and the neck, you just float effortlessly, plus I love the tappin’. Thank you again. I’m heading back to work soon thank God so I’ll be able to take care of a cup of coffee!

Imown kne of these kn blue since a few weeks and it’s amazing. Love to combine the bridge PU in SC mode together with the neck HB, sounds great for clean tones!
Absolutely beautiful playing. Wish I could play like that (still working on it). Just bought this guitar (part exed for my Telecaster) - and it's a MUCH easier instrument to play - I love the wide thin neck and fretboard.
Excellent demo and review! You really showcased the guitar's versatility. I love that you stepped through the clean sounds. I recently got a PRS SE Mira. I also was considering this one, but the Mira's double cut body shape really tugged at me. The versatility of this guitar is beypnd compare with the great sounding coil splits. The Mira also can split the coils for a pretty accurate Fenderish tone, but the 24-08 has more tonal options. And the tremolo! I think I will sell my Epi Les Paul and get one of these - the blue one.

The single coil settings on this were very sweet Jon. PRS seem to be quite good at a great range of tones from their pickups. This one especially. Really interesting review Jon thanks 🙏 😃👍
....another one of these players that can make a toilet plunger sound good. Outstanding! These PRS SE's seem to have the best rep for guitars in their price range. Never heard a bad thing about them.
I'm beginning to believe that this Jonathan Koh guitarist, can take a 30" wood board strung with a big red rubber band, and make it sound like a $5000 guitar. Every guitar he plays, which are mostly low end guitars, sounds like a high guitar. Disclaimer: I'm not saying PRS is a low end guitar, but the SE model is on the low end of PRS's line of guitar. The SE is comparable to similar priced guitars like the Sire brand.
I bought a used 2018 SE Custom 24 because it was a good price. I didn't like the pickups (85-15S) especially in coil split modes, I didn't like the thin neck, the nut wasn't cut very well and needed work so the action could be lowered, the stock tuners were not great, the pickup selector switch felt cheap and the pots were not great. Yes I did sell it on. I have a PRS SE Santana Singlcut which has the TCI pickups but without the coil split function and they're still far from the best humbuckers ever, but have a nicer tone than the 85/15S set IMHO. I don't think the SE 24 is a bad guitar, far from it, but I believe there are better quality guitars in this price range like the Yamaha Revstar series. Just my 2 cents worth. Jonathan made it sound good but he could make fence wire strung over a plank of driftwood sound good!
Typically great playing. Love the clean tones. I played a couple of bound wide thin necks on current model PRS SEs & they felt a little bigger/fuller i.e. not as thin as an unbound wide thin neck carve. Very curious indeed.

But Do you think a fuller sounding tone is possible on the neck with a bit more gain than you have used here? For example, kind of a Dave Murray tone on his solos.

Disappointing to see an off-center join in a PRS Guitar: The company could have spent a little more time choosing the right color woods, or even better, a join that is in the center of the guitar.
