I'm a Registered Nurse in Chicago I make 6 figures and I play this exact guitar in church. No need to get anything else and I can afford it . I love my SE Standard. Awesome video you are very talented brother!
I heard the healthcare in the US is keraazzy expensive, now I know why, nurses paid 6 figures, they deserve to be rewarded when they do a great job with a very nice guitar.
This has to be one of the best guitars I have ever owned. It plays amazingly, it sounds great, it feels good, it’s comfortable…it’s just perfect. Never thought I’d find a guitar that would beat my Peavey HP Signature EXP but this one does it. I am a die hard Strat guy and I find myself playing this more than my Strats these days. It was very well setup and intonated straight out of the box too. Didn’t have to do anything but plug it in and have fun. And I absolutely love the coil taps on it also.
PRS guitars look amazing, their electrics and acoustics play perfectly, and they’re set up just right brand new out of the box! Love the attention to detail with even their lower end stuff.
For sure, the difference between this 600€ guitar and their 2000-4000€ guitars are not night and day difference. In blind tests people have failed to pick out this SE line as being the cheapest one amongst other PRS guitars which starts at 1800€ and then go up. So this guitar is very impressive for the price. They recently released the new generation of the SE line and the prices have gone up a bit though. They now start at 800€ with this standard model. Still like you mentioned, It is great to see them put a lot of effort into these "cheaper entry level" guitars.
Thanks for posting this video. I was in the market for an affordable guitar that wasn’t junk. This video made me take a look at the SE Standard. I went to a couple of local shops and played MANY guitars. I had always overlooked the SE Standards. After playing one, I chose the Standard over all the other SE’s and many other makes and models. Your video helped me see how versatile the Standard is. It’s a nice guitar for the money. Great playing by the way, you have a new subscriber. Thanks.
Amazing value. If you want PRS 24 with better tuners, you must buy the S2 24 for $1650. If you want PRS 24 with better pickups, you must buy the CE 24 for $2000. If you want PRS 24 with better bridge, you must buy the Core CU 24 for $3700. That is astonishing. I wish more guitar brands had such quality components in their cheapest guitar.
Nah, if you want better tuners you just go and spend under 100usd on the locking tuners from PRS. Anything under the core and above the SE you're paying for aesthetics because you can upgrade anything on the SE for WAY cheaper, pickups and/or tuners.
The SE Standard has the same pickups as most of their lineup. The 85/15. Those same pickups can be found in some Custom guitars and even some of their premium US made guitars. The only real difference is the build quality, the finishes and the SE Standard having a cheap nut. Other than that they are basically all the same. You could drop $1500 on a good quality PRS and it might have the same pickups as their $649 SE.
I bought this exact model in the blue color about 6 months ago. Immediately got it to tech to install a bone nut. Otherwise I would not change anything. It sounds great, plays great, frets are level and well rounded, stays in tune better than some of my higher end fixed bridge guitars (since the nut upgrade). Pickups are fine and those can be swapped anytime anyway... I has rounder fretboard radius but that is also about personal preference.
The whammy staying in tune after that abuse was impressive! The bridge pickup sounded fine both splitted and as a humbucker. The neck pickup was a bit too muddy. That guitar with three single coils and another layout of the electronics would be a strat killer. And I always enjoy the playing.
I bought a PRS SE out of interest a year ago & was amazed at the quality, its got binding like yours but its a different shade of blue , Its such a dark blue it looks almost black every little thing was addressed on this guitar & I got it brand new for $400 USD. the pickups where okay, I put locking tuners & a new nut I also put in PRS Metal pickups ( they cost nearly as much as the guitar ) very high output, Im not used to high output pickups. Its now one of my guitars for session work, the pickups are very versatile & clean. Im used to hs3 hs4 yjm furys in my Strats so this was very different. It has to be the best cheaply priced quality guitar out there, & there is the perfect guitar Elmo its called the Fender Stratocaster In Yngwies words" Strats are the pinnacle of guitar making & look how sexy they are " ha He's funny .
That Standard of yours the stock 85/15"S" pups sound really good with the Plexi, not even necessary to swap them. Sounds good! PRS SE guitars are great and they stay in tune when set up properly, which is very important. I’m not crazy about the “wide-thin” neck shape, I just can’t get used to it. The neck pickups are muddy with gain too. If you like the neck then there’s no reason why you shouldn’t have one of these because everyone knows how good they are
I have PRS SE Custom 22 or 24 as my dream guitar. Nice to see even the standard range is really really good. 24-08 has TCI"S" pick ups. They are supposed to be better for splitting. I might go for that. Paul's guitar also has the pick ups from SE range.
The custom 24 se has been my main guitar for the past 5 or 6 years. Recently discovered the bernie marsden se which is just as good. Brilliant guitars 🙂👍🎸

I've played both the SE standard and SE custom, there was no difference in playability or tone, which is great. That means you can buy the standard over the custom and save some cash. But if you're willing to spend a little more, the S2 line is head and shoulders above the SE line. They play better, sound better, feel better, and sustain better. But either way, what a great time to be alive! ***Edit*** Oh my, forget what I said about sustain. That thing sustains for eons!
@@KeepChessSimple If there is a difference I could not hear it. The sound we're hearing is the result of metal strings vibrating above a magnet wrapped in a coil of copper, thus producing a tiny electrical charge. My ears are unable to detect any tonal variance based on the piece of wood the coil is sitting on. In my experience the quality of the build, pickups, pickup height, string type, pick material/shape/thickness, and angle of attack affect tone, whereas wood species does not. Two guitars made of the same material are just as likely to sound different as two guitars made of different wood. Others will vehemently disagree, and that is fine, this is just my experience over thirty years of playing. TL;DR No, there was no perceptible difference in tone :)
I tried the S2 line when I was out looking for a PRS SE and did not find it "head and shoulders" better. It was a nicer instrument but no way near 3 times the price which is not "a little more" 😅😂
@@mathias6423 Yes, I agree 100% nowadays. It was three and a half years ago when I compared SEs to S2s, the prices on the S2s were much better then. To be quite honest I don't really understand the purpose of the S2 line any more, at least not after all the price hikes.

I'm not saying that you did it but I am interested in the authenticity of this test I hope you answer))) I've been looking at your reviews for a long time, they are perfect)))
I'm holding your excellent demonstration of this PRS SE 24 responsible... You've made me reconsider purchasing a PRS SE Custom 24. I hope you are happy... 🤪🤣😂
I picked up the mark tremonti prs se ,looks beautiful plays great till you stand up,,whoosh ,neck drops ,,,I cant believe a guitar of this quality is not even balanced!!
I own a 2018 Korean PRS SE custom 24 with the spalted maple veneer which sounds exactly like this (no wonder since besides the maple top they are pretty identical guitars). Imho it's the ultimate "back up" guitar 🎸 or the ultimate guitar you can take at a gig without worrying scratching or at a gig where you need a versatile guitar like a wedding or a hotel gig etc. The one thing i don't like about mine is the back, where you can see the pieces of wood. It's not the number of pieces that bugs me, but the fact that they look so widely different kinds of mahogany 🤣
First day I got it. Its pretty decent but the volume and tone pot was pretty crap. Mine came in badly set up tho, was pretty bummed. I would upgrade the bridge pickup tho, idk it dosen’t have the fat sound I was looking for and was too much on the treble side.
It seems to me after watching a lot of videos on this channel that your favorites/best guy guitars around that 500-600€ mark is this PRS SE Standard and the Ibanez JEMJR. Any other guitars I missed ?
@@MrPolevaulter I bought this guitar some months ago, what exactly did you do to it to keep it in such great tuning after abusing it with the whammy bar like you did in the end of this video ? Thank you for keeping on bringing us great videos Elmo!
I ended up buying a PRS SE Standard. I have some really great axes from the 60's, 70's, 80's, and 90's (Fender, Gibson, Gretch, etc). I am thoroughly impressed with this guitar. Thanks for the review Elmo! Already recording with it and liking it! My Strats and Paul's have their place too like any good woman. They bring the best out in you. If things go bad, they'll leave you playing the blues. ; )
Man I played a PRS once, loved it except for one detail, the pickup selector really didn't feel natural to me. It had oen of those 5 way rotary things where you knew you were on the bridge at one end, and that's it. Really couldn't get friendly with that system 😂 Neck and sounds are amazing.

Two guitars made of the same material are just as likely to sound different as two guitars made of different wood. Others will vehemently disagree, and that is fine, this is just my experience over thirty years of playing.
TL;DR No, there was no perceptible difference in tone :)
@@sublyme2157 Wood 100% effects tone.
Mine arrived last week in a tobacco sunburst colour. What a guitar!
I have one; LOVE it! Just found out there was an allen wrench nut to brace the trem arm. I am now complete. LOL Great vid as always mate. Thanks! I want that TShirt dude!!! HAHAHAHA!! OMG!!! Cheers!
Thanks!
I am buying this as my second Guitar on my birthday this year.
I love your reviews man. Homestead reviews. Love it and you have high standards for the gear which is very nice.
Great review. Was thinking about ordering one in that colour and just have as a result of your review. So thank you.
When Elmo noodles on the guitar nice relaxing phrases 🔥
been wanting one of these Prs models currently jamming my Michael Kelly blue burl ultra S style guitar
These have appealed to me. I hope to try one soon as I am able. Great review as always man.
Cheers!
The only thing I don’t care for on this guitar is the pickup rings. They look good on gibson lps but not on a prs for some reason. Great video !
They look fine to me
Staying in tune after all that is a thumbs up & sounds great for that price!
Yep :)
That is my next choice after owning a Pacifica killer Guitar. Love PRS quality guitar.
Nice guitar Elmo. I just bought a PRS SE FLOYD, grey black. I will install the PRS METAL BUCKER PICK UPS \m/.
THANK YOU! Unboxings are boring suckfests. I appreciate you sparing us from that. Great playing and demo. Keep it up!
They are indeed.
Must make an unboxing video to reveal the shredders air guitar inside😂 for all the sad ********
hey man, you really rockin in this video! I watched the whole video only cause of you playing that great.... anyway interested in buying this guitar :D
Thanks!
Nice. The best review for PRS SE
Cheers!
Great vids, as usual ! Love these SE. I was about to purchase one but I'm gonna wait a bit and purchase the new Green SE Custom 24/08.
Thanks!
Did you get the green one ,? That would be the one I would get !
@@AuntAlnico4 Hi!
Unfortunaly, no. Because... I'm about to purchase the SE Silver Sky. 😂
Can’t wait to get mine
a short side by side with the HB CST24 would have been a nice add to the video
Coming next week I think.
I second this, suggest it might be coming given he reviewed them 4 days apart (release of the vids anyway)
I like the sound you play pretty good
I love that indigo finish!
STOP.. YOU'RE KILLING IT!!.. lol.. Sounds amazing thou. I really dig PRS. They do make really good guitars
I have the same model in the same color. Great guitar!
8:26 I have waited so long for you to play some Santana, my wish is granted
PS : i would be glad if you decided to do a lesson on this master of the guitar
A lesson on Santana? I'm no expert on his style.
Came for the guitar, stayed for the laughs. GREAT VIDEO. I'm thinking my next guitar should be a blue PRS, this one is a serious contender.
Thanks!
Nice one with Stayin' Alive around 6:30.
14:43-14:46 You cut out something after the tremolo test (wammi bar), can you please tell me what it was, it just seems to me that behind the scenes you tuned the guitar ... I'm not saying that you did it but I am interested in the authenticity of this test I hope you answer))) I've been looking at your reviews for a long time, they are perfect)))
Just me messing up in what I was saying. Didn't tune up 😊
I'm holding your excellent demonstration of this PRS SE 24 responsible... You've made me reconsider purchasing a PRS SE Custom 24. I hope you are happy... 🤪🤣😂
I picked up the mark tremonti prs se ,looks beautiful plays great till you stand up,,whoosh ,neck drops ,,,I cant believe a guitar of this quality is not even balanced!!
love that cheeky Gary moore in there
PRS guitars are beutiful. I have owned an American made once in the collor obsidian. Now i got a custom, thats ok to
Sounds amazing, sounds like Gary Moore's Gibson, great guitar playing Elmo, I give a huge like!
You know Gary used a PRS on over the hills and far away.
But what didnt he use lol

Bro..your Indian accent was spot on..I'm a fender guy..I've just ordered a se standard to see what's out there.. hope it makes me play more..
Cheers!
Is that okay that put stabilizer on the floating bridge?.
Sorry? Not sure I understand. Stabilizer?
@@MrPolevaulter instead of spring...U replace it by stabilizer
I own that guitar. Same specs and finish. I❤ it.
Dude people love this custom 24 to
I own a 2018 Korean PRS SE custom 24 with the spalted maple veneer which sounds exactly like this (no wonder since besides the maple top they are pretty identical guitars).
Placed my order after watching tjis. Thank you!
Hope you enjoy it!
Love the shirt. Tx for review.
Cheers!
I agree. Unboxing videos are boring as hell. Finally someone that shares my view haha
THat's an amazing guitar ... wow ... Also, you are an amazing guitarist and marvelous personnality ... 2 thumbs up my friend !!!!
Thank you :)
To be fair I haven't tried too many in that price bracket.
@@MrPolevaulter So then I did not miss much! It is the bracket I often buy guitars in. Looking forward to more, great channel and great playing!
@@MrPolevaulter I bought this guitar some months ago, what exactly did you do to it to keep it in such great tuning after abusing it with the whammy bar like you did in the end of this video ? Do you have a video on how you set it up with the nut-lube ? If not could do a video where you show that procedure/how you apply it/go about it and what nut-lube you use ?
Thank you for keeping on bringing us great videos Elmo!
@@mathias6423 Thanks! Here are things I normally do: ua-cam.com/video/bWJF4qYvgdc/v-deo.htmlsi=GoSjcOwC79jJC4tn
Hmm, guitar review or ego runaway? Definately the latter. In any event, good workout on the whammy proving the SE stays very much in tune. Thx.
