100% agree with your link to walkability score - we absolutely bought as far away from a LRT station, mall and even considered annual destination events that draw large crowd that park everywhere and leave trash.... Evanston we ❤️ love you!
Agree. We are living on Royal Oak, its far away from almost everything and very safe. But we got used to more urban living (more walking, closer distances for amenities) in Ukraine, so most likely will be moving to some of the inner city communities.
@@yukon666 yes that’s the trade off for being in further suburbs Va inner city. Less walkable amenities. Best part is there are some amazing inner city areas you could consider in the future that are safe too!
I love it down here in Oakridge SW across the street from South Glenmore Reservoir. Quiet area, everything is within walking distance. Lived here for 17 years
I am from Toronto, I will take a walkable place over a dead neighbourhood. I have been living in Calgary for 11 months now and live in Eau Claire. The most annoying thing about living here are the scooters that actually should be up there for being "dangerous" and the amount homeless people doing copious amount of drugs along the riverfront by East Village.
go back to Toronto, y’all ruined the housing market by leaving in masses during Covid.. hell I had to leave Sudbury because yall moved there and now we can’t buy homes.. -from a young Canadian
I honestly love sunalta, I feel like the stats are skewed with the number of homeless at the train station, and most crimes don’t stray far from there… surprised beltline didn’t fare worse
Wow its crazy how much the difference is between the good and the bad! I was living in the downtown core and I am glad I was not apart or a victim of the crime lol. Great video for people trying to buy property/live in Calgary!!!
It’s true. Calgary really is a safe place generally, but a great way to take a look at the data. Thanks for the comment and watching. Love your videos too! You’re moving back to Calgary?
Are these crimes mainly Auto theft? Break and Enter? Robbery or other violent crime? Neighbourhoods without enclosed parking likely drives up the number or auto theft or theft from vehicles. Would you be able to show which neighbourhoods has worst home invasion/break and enter vs the Best and Safest neighbourhoods. Thanks! This is a great video! Calgary and Edmonton used to be on par with housing prices. Now that Calgary housing prices have appreciated so much, Edmonton's housing prices are quite low and affordable. Why aren't people flocking there?

It’s true. Honestly Calgary is a safe city but it’s an interesting way to look at the communities as we get asked all the time from buyers about crime rates in specific areas.
Thanks for watching and commenting. It all depends more on the community and price point vs broad quadrants. We can talk specifics and help sort out the right areas for you too www.chamberlaingroup.ca/contact/
Crime stats are wildly misleading and don’t differentiate for factors like over-policed communities. I also find it hard to believe one community has 3 crimes per person?
I am of the mind the over policed areas have potentially lower crime rates. Not exactly a real estate consideration though it could be more politically motivated by the cost of homes and amount of taxes per home.
@@ChamberlainGroup ah I stand corrected. Just saw the video again - says Downtown Calgary in massive fonts and I somehow managed to miss that. Calgary and Edmonton used to be on par with housing prices.

They are fundamentally different cities with different feels. Edmonton could see more growth in the future, but hard to say what will happen.
How about wolf willow what is the crime rate and walkable score ?? Is it a safe and up and coming neighborhood?

Just out of interest what type of crimes are committed in these high crime areas?
It’s everything listed on the calgary crime map through the city of Calgary and Calgary police. So petty thefts, break and enter, car break ins etc.

51 crimes per 100 (thousand people) maybe? 51 crimes per 100 people is intense lollll
51 crimes between 2017 and 2023 for 100 people 😉

This shd be crimes per 100k people
