Usually if you notice the symptoms of baldness, it means you already have less than 30% of your hair left. So a preventive visit to a trichologist never hurt. Maybe you're already going bald, it'll just be a couple more years before it's noticeable to the naked eye.

As an older guy - 57, who is fortunate enough to have a Keanu Reeves like head of hair - I've watched friends and coworkers hair change over decades.
Some did indeed go right to bald.
Many others, lost a small amount - maybe got some recession, but still have kept their hair for decades.

Think about it, long hairs are several inches longer than short ones.

My family has a history of balding with my dad and both grandparents having more of the balding hair, not complete baldness. My whole life I was told I would have baldness plus glasses at the minimum of 30 years old. Genetics does not always dictate these things as of 38 years of age I still have a strong hairline and good eye sight and hearing even though I stared at headlights as a child and still listen to very loud music. I shower less sure but every complements my hair like I clean it daily. I just bought shampoo without any of that sulfate stuff in it. I am only getting older from here. I love youtube videos for speaking out whether people are right or not.

In your 30s 20s you are in your prime even 40s depending on your lifestyle and if you took care of yourself I am a woman. I went to see a endocrinologist, took blood tests for hormones. All normal. She asked about my parents. Both do not suffer from hair loss. I have long thick hair. Since I changed my floors and hair brush to the color white : my hair shows more when it sheds and falls which freaked me out. It sheds everyday here and there. My doctor said that 50 to 200 hairs a day is normal. I was really freaking out but blood test says it all. Everyones hair fall is different. The greasier the more you lose. I even showed her a photo she said it's not a lot. I became obsessive. I wash my hair every 3-4 days. The longer I wait the more hair in the shower appears. We all have less hair on the sides of our heads. When I did hair oiling and massaged lots of hair fell out. Which I was told is normal.

edit: 2 years later im coming back to this video after forgetting i left a comment here. but theres nothing to worry about.
if your hairs thinning in any way mine did, its because you're being too rough with it. ive decided to cut it and go with a shorter look because the long hair just didn't suit me. but after cutting it it grew right back. dont dye it, dont bleach it, dont comb through it like you're starting a lawn mower on top of your head.
also dont believe any of that bs about how showering less often will cause your scalp to produce less oil. for about a year i only showered every 5 days. i stunk, and most of all, my hair was just as greasy as ever. i could have rung my hair out into a diesel lawn mower and have it mow a football field.

When I was around 15 years old I got into the Heavy Metal scene and started to grow my hair out.
Only two years later I noticed a bald spot on the back of my head (tonsure).
It took only a few years and I got a massive receding hairline and the tonsure got bigger.
I used so many different medications, shampoos and lotions. Nothing helped, it got worse every year. It was super hard for me to feel comfortable with that. I started to wear hats day and night. I lived up with that crap until 2019, when I was 24 years old.
I had enough. I lost so much hair that I finally wanted to do something against it. So I flew to turkey last year and got a hair transplant, and this year I got the second one, just about an month ago. It was one of the best decisions I have ever made.

I'm pretty sure the reason for that is that when growing your hair, each hair strand is much longer than what it used to be before growing - therefore just a few hairs on a comb suddenly seem like a lot of hair.
Also most men who kept buzzing their sides and backs and then decided to grow their hair just did not know how much they were actually shedding. Those areas are usually denser in hair follicles, so when they shed (and they shed more than the top area), it is completely unnoticeable.

My hair isn't falling out, it just stopped growing, far as I can tell. I've never seen so much of my scalp before. I get fits of rage because It was so unexpected, and feels incredibly unfair. There's no bald spot on the vertex yet, but under the right light, my scalp is visible. It's thinning drastically in the front and the vertex. just 6 months ago I had my hair long and brushed back, real italian/greaser look lol. like Johnny boy from the outsiders.
If baldness comes from the paternal side of the family, it shouldn't be happening to me. If it's on the mom's side...well, there's thinning, but no one in my family has gone bald, on either side. I also went through some heavy detox/withdrawal from methadone&benzo's right after I had COVID in February 2021...so I was holding out hope for the type of hair loss that's temporary.
I'm 33 years old, and I'd rather have fucking CANCER than lose my hair. I've had thoughts of running away from my family because of the shame of it, taking my show on the ROAD. It's a full-blown identity crisis, and I'm not coping well at all with the news. That's how I feel. I'm grieving the loss of my hair.
It's one thing if, you know, my head was perfectly ROUND, or If I had a mortgage, a wife, kids, stuff in general, accomplishments.. But I just got clean, I threw away my best years to opiate addiction. And it feels like my reward for getting clean is: losing my last good feature, my hair! And I curse the world for it. A dermatologist early in October said it looks like genetic hair loss. Another dermatologist says it could be stress related, but to me it looks genetic. This news cut me so, so deep. My humor isn't even intact anymore. I glare at people with good hair on the subways lmao, when just 6 months to a year ago, I had no noticeable hair thinning/loss. But thank you for the informative video..I'm still holding out hope for some kind of miracle.
