Oh my goodness I love love love your advice on not comparing yourself to other riders. It is so important because if you put yourself in a negative mindset, you ARE setting yourself up to fail. I started riding when I was 15, and at that time I was always comparing myself to other riders my age/ younger riders. This was so unfair to myself because many of those riders had been riding since they were very little! Looking back I wish I had a better mindset, and instead of comparing myself to them, I should have tried to learn from them and improve myself. Thanks for the great advice!!

So I know how to barrel race and I’ve done it before but my grandparents are the only one's who has horses and they don’t have any barrel horses but they do have a cattle horse that my grandma said I can play around with and try to do some things with it but I don’t know how it responds to body movement and how it respond to the barrels so if you have any tips on that it would really be appreciated..
i have been riding this horse that has barrel raced in the past but hasn’t in a few years. although i’m a beginner in barrel racing, i have been riding for a long time. i had to somewhat retrain her and refresh her memory ahah. hoping that we build together and learn things from each-other!
I got my horse over 4 years ago and I'm just now learning/doing barrels and teaching her in the process. Sadly I can't learn from a barrel experienced horse. However, I'm taking things slow and checking myself (with your UA-cam/tiktok channel) before teaching her.

I have been riding since birth an I use to barrel race but I took a break when I was around 14 because of family issues but I really want to get into it again but I feel like I'm too old to start up again I'm 17 now. I have my horse that I use to run with but she is now retired to I'm currently saving up to get another running buddy. Any tips on starting up again ?

Carina Palacios go back to the basics. You can ride with out stirrups and learn to ride with your hips more instead of using your legs to hold on. Let me send you a video about body positioning that might help. Let me know if you have any more questions.

Oh yes for sure you can train the horse!:) Waking close to a tire? Not sure what you mean by that? Also if he’s backing up when you get on just move him in a circle around you till he stops then get on. Yes it will take some time though. Hey! Time only are just a practice run basically. You just pay like $3 and make a run to get a time but it doesn’t count for anything. It’s basically to get young horses used to the jackpot scene:)

Tomi White so if your afraid of loping around a barrel I would say scale back a little bit. Focus on riding and having the basics down. I am not saying this is your problem but a lot of times if people are scared they aren’t confident in there riding abilities. Weather that’s your situation or not that might be something to think about. Another thing is you want to do is interrupt your thought pattern of telling your self you are afraid of something happening. Tell your self something positive instead. So instead of saying I am afraid of falling, say “ I am going to ride this horse so beautifully” the trick is what ever you focus on will happen. But like I said don’t be afraid to scale back and work more on your basics and work your way back up. Does that help?
I have a question, so I train for endurance and once in a week we do challenges and make team etc ... so in one of the challenges we had to speed and then turn around a cone and I am not sure how to do it when the horse is speeding do you have any tips on that?

Madi Keys As far as trotting goes.. It all comes down to core and leg strength. It just really takes practice to stand up and down in your stirrups. If you can’t be on a horse to practice you can sit in a saddle on a stand and practice standing up and down to get that balance. It’s all about repetition and muscle memory
If you can give me some tips about what to do about my horse could you! Every time I go to practice with him he won’t ever go into a trot he always bucks so I can’t practice for a show I feel so unprepared when it’s time for the show but at the shows he canners and acts fine I don’t know if he’s lazy or stubborn but I really need some help with getting him to even trot when I’m practicing.
@@barrelracingtraininghelp he has problems with his stifle I go to someone who treats him about every three months for that He should feel better after it and feel no pain in that area. Also I am sure that my saddle fits I tried multiple saddle fits and mine works good for the both of us. I don’t know what’s wrong and why he’s not cooperating when practicing.

Sounds like the horse is in pain somewhere. Have you checked the horse for soreness? Ulcers? Poor saddle fit?

soooo i lease a horse and he can do barrels ishhhh buttttt he's never been to a show and neither have i so 1. what should i do if he freaks out in the gate?
2. what if i completely suck i know it's only my first race but like i don't want to embarrass myself
Have you checked the horse for ulcers? Poor saddle fit? Usually if a horse has problems going in the gate something is wrong health wise

I’m kinda scared to barrel race since people I watch broke their neck, ribs, or legs while barrel racing... even tho they recovered I wanted to know if you have broken anything while barrel racing

what if you don't have a horse who knows how to run barrels, and you don't either?
Aurianna Hill the best thing you can do is find a really good barrel racing trainer and take lessons from them:) also learning online is a great option! If you aren’t subscribed to my channel it might be helpful to be, I post videos 3 times a week to help you guys learn how to run barrels and get help with training and so forth!
