    So I know how to barrel race and I’ve done it before but my grandparents are the only one's who has horses and they don’t have any barrel horses but they do have a cattle horse that my grandma said I can play around with and try to do some things with it but I don’t know how it responds to body movement and how it respond to the barrels so if you have any tips on that it would really be appreciated..

    Oh my goodness I love love love your advice on not comparing yourself to other riders. It is so important because if you put yourself in a negative mindset, you ARE setting yourself up to fail.
    I started riding when I was 15, and at that time I was always comparing myself to other riders my age/ younger riders. This was so unfair to myself because many of those riders had been riding since they were very little! Looking back I wish I had a better mindset, and instead of comparing myself to them, I should have tried to learn from them and improve myself.
    Thanks for the great advice!!

      Madi Keys hello! You can drop your stirrups to Gain more balance to let go of that saddle horn.

    • @barrelracingtraininghelp
      @barrelracingtraininghelp  4 роки тому

      Madi Keys As far as trotting goes.. It all comes down to core and leg strength. It just really takes practice to stand up and down in your stirrups. If you can’t be on a horse to practice you can sit in a saddle on a stand and practice standing up and down to get that balance. It’s all about repetition and muscle memory

    And he's afraid of walking close to a tire or anything on the group how do I change that?

      Makalyn Patrick nope if you can find a barn to ride there sometimes the trainers will let you borrow there horses for a price but you just have to get creative with a way to do it:)

    I love your videos thank you! I used to do some barrel racing when I was real young but it’s been so long. I’m thankful I have great balance when turning but I’m still going to use your tips and tricks to help refresh me when I get back under the saddle again soon. Would love to chat with you personally sometime about barrel racing, it’s been a passion that I want to make a career one day. I don’t know very many people with horses where I live but I would love to be trained under a pro!

    • @barrelracingtraininghelp
      @barrelracingtraininghelp  3 роки тому +1

      Hey! Time only are just a practice run basically. You just pay like $3 and make a run to get a time but it doesn’t count for anything. It’s basically to get young horses used to the jackpot scene:)

    Hi can I ask a question how do you loop around a barrel without being scared?

    • @barrelracingtraininghelp
      @barrelracingtraininghelp  4 роки тому

      Tomi White first it is important to pinpoint what you are scared of exactly?

    • @tomiwhite8939
      @tomiwhite8939 4 роки тому

      @@barrelracingtraininghelp yeah and that's looping around a barrel when ever I do it I feel like hes gonna slip and we will fall and I'll end up with a bad broken leg even though he is my sister horse and she used him specifically for barrel and would place in every rodeo she went to I've also just have had a lot of bad things happen to me on a horse like them just take off on me and run as fast as they can and I'm scared that he will do that.

    • @barrelracingtraininghelp
      @barrelracingtraininghelp  4 роки тому +1

      Tomi White so if your afraid of loping around a barrel I would say scale back a little bit. Focus on riding and having the basics down. I am not saying this is your problem but a lot of times if people are scared they aren’t confident in there riding abilities. Weather that’s your situation or not that might be something to think about. Another thing is you want to do is interrupt your thought pattern of telling your self you are afraid of something happening. Tell your self something positive instead. So instead of saying I am afraid of falling, say “ I am going to ride this horse so beautifully” the trick is what ever you focus on will happen. But like I said don’t be afraid to scale back and work more on your basics and work your way back up. Does that help?
