    You probably won't see this but my problem is the speed. I am afraid of going too fast. I don't know how to fix it. Btw I love you so much your an inspiration.

    • @barrelracingtraininghelp
      @barrelracingtraininghelp  4 роки тому +1

      Usually when there is fear in speed you just need to practice it more and know how to stay balanced:) I will link a video that I think will help. As always don't be afraid to run your horse around the arena for a couple of laps and just focus on relaxing your body. Know that it will take time but it will come!

    My daughter is 13 has been riding since 6 and rodeoing since 7 running barrels and poles and has made hundred of runs but she still gets nervous. I still stay in alleyway with her to help her relax and check her tack and tell her her run is not that big of deal. I learned early on if I told her we need a good run for a check or buckle she would mess up but when I would act like it wasn't a big deal she would do better. She doesn't like the competition but just goes in and makes her run quiet and calm.

    • @barrelracingtraininghelp

      Your exactly right! Most people don’t go in there and say I have to win this... you have to just go in there and remind your self how to ride and smooth is fast and pays off:)

    I messaged you on TikTok about this. I absolutely hate bothering my trainer. I live in North Texas. Like in the same town as that person who sells your saddle sack. You never know who’s going to be where you’re at. I’ve had been inches away from NFR qualifiers watching my futurity horse exhibition. Now I have a horse that’s broke and more my speed while the other one is doing her furturity stuff with my trainer but I want to be both of their full time jockey eventually. This is beyond nerve wrecking and it doesn’t help that by virtue of being born where I was born I live in the same area of so many great barrel racers. I’m going to try these tips this weekend when I exhibition this weekend.

    Yesterday was my first day of practicing barrels a little faster than I used to do, to get more comfortable with the speed. And it was a complete disaster ... I was so focused on speed that I completely forgot what I had to do ... I get so nervous when I'm about to run.
    And when I finish the race and especially when it wasn’t a good run, I feel more nervous than ever ...
    I loved your video and today I will try to put your advice into practice. I really think that they will help me a lot.

      beauty as you kno it~ Not all runs will be the best. I’ve learned that from experience. My horse (Buzz) hit the second barrel and spooked. But i made him re-do the run. And it was smooth sailing after that! :) Don’t get mad at your horse PLEASE!!! At my rodeos there are some kids who messed up the run and it can be there fault or it’s the horses but either way they blame the horse, that’s so not fair to the poor horse, and they will wip,kick,and yell at their horse like it was only their fault! That makes me so dam mad. So please don’t do what they do. I wish you the best of luck! After the run weather you messed up or not tell your horse they did good and tried there best. Don’t tell your horse good boy/girl if they did not listen to a single order you asked. But beside that, pat your horse tell them they did amazing! And when you walk out of that arena tell yourself you did the best you could. 😁🥳🥳❤️❤️🐴

    Side note, kind of off topic but I’d love to know how you learned to drive a horse trailer. How did you learn to back up? It makes me so nervous I make my husband do it which means I’m super limited by when he’s available.

    I’m always nervous at rodeos because my friend was killed in a freak accident at a rodeo. Her horse spooked and flipped back on top of her. I’m scared that my horse might slip or rear up and flip over. But it’s only at a rodeo. I’m ALL FOR riding a bucking horse at home and practice, and I’ll go and make a GORGEOUS run at practice. It’s just I’m scared when it’s like 10 people away. Then in the alleyway I’m also nervous. But as soon as my trainer lets me go, I’m completely fine.
