If it wasn't for Paul and his video, I never would have known you. But man, you are a killer guitarist. Learnt a great deal just by watching you play and talk. Thank you
Chris, I'm an old fart and I've heard a lot of guitar players in my time. Your playing blows me away! Particularly, the interludes in your FF videos. Thank you! I learn how to be a better guitarist because you inspire me to be better. Sincerely... thank you.
A lot of excellent guitar players these times but Chris Buck touches my heart, it's like feeling in peace and a pleasant warmth expands through your body.
It was Paul Davids 2020 Video that first introduced me to your brilliant Guitar playing, he has a fantastic channel, and this new video was equally great (your take on the track was super too)
Good on you mate, stay blessed Chris, I'm sure by now you know that we are thanking you for what you bring to us. Thank you for allowing us the privilege to journey along with you as quiet observers, what a blessing, and yes, Paul Davis is a stellar gentlemen on all levels, he always cracks me up while at the same time delivering outstanding music.
You're an inspiration mate! The melodic phrasing & passion in your playing is second to none. UA-cam wouldn't be the same without that weekly hit of Friday Fretworks. Much love from Scotland, Gerry Son & The Smokin' Gun.
After 10 years playing guitar, watching you the last 1 year has changed a lot in my guitar playing and improvisation. THANK YOU for inspiring us almost every week. Keep doing your thing, Chris... You're highly appreciated.
t's amazing ppl get it into their head they can learn an instrument without lessons. 10 years of lessons and you'd be smoking slash now instead of funbling around for something. seriously
@@jgunther3398 And who said I learned without lesson? If you ask the greatest musicians, they will tell you that the biggest lesson you can take is listen to others playing. Thanks for kind words Chris 🙏🏻 but always my pleasure, got goosebumps writing it out and I’m always worried the tabs will never convey that special something in your playing. Maybe need to add a text box saying ‘play with added Buck factor’ 🤟🏻🎸
So good! And despite not having listened to your solo from the 2020 video for some time, I can still hum/sing almost all of it. Definitely a sign of just how great it is!
This is such a superb ballad, lyrical take on this lead! 👏👏👏 Paul's challenge was a great one and I think there are so many accomplished YT'ers that could bring a new thought to it. The thing that I grow from is that there are an infinite amount of perspectives to be explored.👏👏👏
From the get go of the majority of guitar videos I started watching on YT they all sort of evolved from their “stand alone” creation. As the years have passed on all of you guys are virtually in touch or a part of the same community! This is quite a testament to all of your talents! Why we watch? You, Paul, Eric etc. bring us all together! Thank you 👍🇦🇺
Chris, you're a true treasure, so glad I found Friday Fretworks, you've inspired me to play again, I'd pretty much given up until I started watching your channel. Thank you so much.
Chris, we are blessed to have you in our screens and sharing your music, talent and many information revolving the world of music. Thank you and keep going!
Chris, hadn't heard of you until just watching Paul's video. All the improvs were great, but yours was something else.... It was magical. Thank you so much for that masterpiece. Look forward to tuning in to Friday Fretworks from now on. Cheers mate!
You and Paul are class acts through and through! I have been a follower of both of you for quite some time know and your post always provide such a sharing of knowledge, entertainment, and inspiration! I look forward to watching as you both elevate social media to new heights! Much respect!👏👏👏
Hey Chris I always listen to your entire videos the first time I watch them but I do often go back just to hear your songs. Man you are a great guitarist!
Awesome. I thoroughly enjoyed all the other soloists but damn, yours was pretty incredible for how melodically aligned to the progression it was. A great blend of slow and fast and soft and hard playing. Beautiful. Thx for the tab too
What makes this so damn good is it carries an idea the entire way through while complimenting the song itself, which is a constant theme with all of your playing.
You phished me! 🤣 out of all people Paul David’s . Tx for catching my attention, cheers and keep sharing and inspiring all of us to keep at it. Tx. Ben NY
Yours was the best three yrs ago Chris, but this time when I watched the other solos the other day I thought they couldn’t be bettered , but guess what ? You just did it pal …. Fabulous melodic guitar playing mate !
Paul's new solo collab video was indeed great. Immediately after watching it I went back and listened to the original one with Chris' gem. Now this new unofficial solo is absolutely superb. Exactly what we have come to expect from you Chris! Keep on playing it all.
Thank you so much for posting this, Chris. I have watched Paul's vid so many times - it is such an achingly beautiful backing track - and now I've got your take on it to get my head round. Thank you again.
Hey glad you did record the video. I enjoy both your playing and the topics you address and your opinion on those topics. Keep up the great music and great video content.
OMG! There were some excellent solos on Paul’s video and your send up of this was entertaining in its own right but, and this is a big but, no other solo brought an emotional response like this on for me. I don’t know how to express the difference in words but I sure am glad you did it and I could hear it- thank you!!
Chris has amazing feel, it's what separates the very good and great - omho. Jack from peach guitars has it as well. Being able to play the notes in a way that pulls the strings of emotion. It's a great gift to have. You know it when they start to play, people stop and listen. To top it off, they make it look easy but it's anything but.
Buck, both of your solos are fantastic. Such smooth tone control, bold punch, real expression, and playful range. ... I clicked on this video thinking there was some petty tension between you and Paul Davids. I am deeply pleased to find I was wrong. Real, honest class. Thank you.
There is nothing we viewers can say bro... its all you! You inspire us to think outside the norms of "influence" and all we can do is be dazzled! Thank you Chris Buck! Keep playin' us out!! ❤❤
Chris deserves at least 5x the number of subscribers than he currently has. When you hear Chris play, you immediately know it's him even without seeing him. That's not a knock at all, he has a signature sound and no one else sounds like him.
This video showed up on my feed and I was hesitant to view it because I think Paul is awesome and I didn't want to hear any negative comments, but I somehow felt that that wouldn't happen. Glad I watched it! I'm now a fan of yours, Chris! Awesome licks!
Thanks to you Chris and Paul for the absolutely fun, creative and informative videos. It’s nice to see that there are still amazing people making amazing music.
Chris, I think this is the first time I was actually laughing at the brilliance of a "click-bait" title! Thanks for making me laugh. I loved your solo, btw. :)
Great solo! I watched that (Paul’s) video the other day. I enjoy your playing as well as your explanations. You truly have one of my favorite channels. Be well!
Chris, just found you through the PD title hook and WOW, mind blown! I immediately went looking for more and saw your other projects- also some truly great music and collaborations. But Man! My friend you owe it to the world to do a pure guitar project. You’ve got your own pure sound like Danny Gatton, or Eric Johnson, Buckethead, SRV… I hope your future gives the world more of that unique feeling in your opening jam solo there. Your band work is awesome, but your solo potential I think could become legendary. I’ll be watching and listening! Good luck!
yep Chris became one if not my fav guitarist in the world! i began to follow Chris because of Paul David video challenge. brought goose bumps. love your songs and leads too with Warm Love and Tell me how it Feels - with your band Cardinal Black - keep those beautiful guitar solos comin! Thank you Chris!
Chris, Friday Fretworks has become a ‘must have’ to kick-start the weekend. Apart from your obvious gift as a guitarist, you appear a gracious and decent bloke; fair play to you. I was at the Islington gig, and cannot wait to see CB again.
Maybe you’re a “UA-camr”, but first and foremost you’re a damned good guitarist and an inspiration. Thanks for everything you’ve contributed to the community mate!
I definitely am one who listens to your talking segment because your research of brands, specific songs parts from artists, are all interesting to me. Back in the 80s, before internet was available, I actually read magazine articles, not just looked at the pictures.
I'm honestly not too familiar with you outside of YT, Chris. However, I loved you the moment I saw your fingers hit the strings! You have such a smooth and rich style about you and quite simply, you are well blessed and truly gifted! Thanks for your insight, encouragement and demos! Cheers!
You're a nice bloke who has his own way of very talented playing. You're very original in your way of playing and it sounds great to my ears! Thanks for what you do.
Your playing continues to inspire me. I went to a guitar store today and was checking out a Strat, they took me to the amp room and plugged me in to a Fender Twin. I didn't bring a plectrum so I gave it a go just using fingers, much like you do. Certainly something I will investigate further! Thank you for opening my eyes to new techniques.
I watched the Paul Davids video in amazement. There were two artists/solos that stood out for me - really captured the moment. That was until I watched this video. Now there are three, with yours being on the top of the heap. It is not just the note selection, but the way the information is presented. No one that I am aware of has and uses the same technique for combing their left and right hand coordination and sonic presentation. Thank you having a go at it and sharing.
Just to echo others here, I was disappointed when you weren’t included on Paul David’s latest video. Love his channel, and the last time he did this was inspired. I was literally thinking you would have been perfect for that type of solo and here it is! You and Ross absolutely killed it 😊
I was thinking the same thing lol
Ross’s was superb 🥰
My actual comment on Paul Davids' video was that I really missed Chris Buck on that track!
Ross was 100% the best on that. Mateo was a bit disappointing
Ross’s solo was awesome

Me too. I've never seen anyone play with as much feel as Chris. And it really stood out in Paul's video.

Chris' & Paul's solo-ing really stood out for me.
Me four.😊

Such flavor in your playing
No wasted notes with pure intention
