  • Quick Dinner - Yellowtail Snapper Catch And Cook
    Got home after a day out on the reef with Fred and Jay. Hadn't had much to eat so was starving. It was either Burger King or a fish meal. I didn't want to wait long so just did a quick foil wrap fish and some quick and easy sides. No fuss, no mess, quick and easy. Hit the spot. Foil wrapped Yellowtail Snapper infused with butter, lemon, dill, salt and pepper. For sides it was just as easy as grilling up a bell pepper and filling it with mustard egg potato salad and some grilled bread. Happy days.

      I did my first catch and cook last year with some stockie rainbow trout. I smoked them after a 1hr brine. Best trout I've ever had. When you used that brown butter to cook that Porgie, I almost lost my mind!

    • @KeyWestKayakFishing

      Patch reefs. Just head out about three miles and find some structure. Anchor, chum bag, drift baits back. Or bounce live shrimp along the bottom as you drift.

    Great video as always Steve. Just my personal preference but I can't understand the use of butter, a byproduct of a cow to "flavor" the already natural sweetness of a freshly caught fish... I've never consumed dairy so I guess I'm missing out on something because this seems to be common practice.

    Steve i have a question... do you search for parasites when you catch fish? the other day i was filleting a fish that i caught and i found some small transparent/ wormlike parasites atached to the skin of the fish and i thought "hmmm what if they are inside too? how do i know it if im going to cook it whole?" now im worried about cooking a fish whole hahaha, there is any way to know if they are infected? or i can only know that by filleting it?

    • @KeyWestKayakFishing
      @KeyWestKayakFishing  7 років тому

      Those are sea live. Just on the outside. But there are pretty much worms in all fish. They are just common parasites. There are none that will cause harm to you. They will die if you freeze or cook them. Saltwater fish have less than fresh water. Fish like Amberjacks have a lot of big ones. Just added protein. No different than all the bugs in a chocolate bar or fruit products.
