I was under the impression that the reason everyone thought the Rider couldn’t be killed was because if they did, the Star would just send another clone to continue the where the previous one left off, so they all assumed it was the same guy coming back over and over. There’s one line by the Burst that convinced me of this: “All the ones who came before you, they thought they could win, too. That's an interesting possibility however I believe the Burst meant other invaders like the Strap. He speaked the truth, i was alone, all the others where trying to stop me, but he seemed a little glory dependant. In the fight, he became more and more unskilled, using everything, desperation in his voice. It wasn't until the last phase i began to suspect to true plot of the game. He used everything, like a suicidal charge in order to try to stop me. To the fact, that after he ended with nothing, he was defenseless, a prey to the alpha hunter. I was concerned, but the game never ever, until the beat, showed me another hint. In the last phase too, because her was almost crying since she knew it was the end, hoping her voice would stop us. Then i opened the cage, seeing the truth about everything. Is very well made, the hand, is a game changer, how the architect is trying so hard for you, not Rider, the player, to hate the enemy, giving you a lot of reasons to do that. And the fact stills, Rider, as an mute main trope, is only guided by our moral, that's was what the architect tries to approach, and what the game, too. my biggest regret was not being able to hold the beats hand when she died. from the moment I saw what that first step did to the world around me.; I made my choice to save the world because I searched as hard as I could for the story not to end as a monster. if it meant saving everyone else from what I as the rider was, maybe it was worth it. its strange and amazing. if you pay attention, this story/game changes you from the ground up through your intentions. at first when i picked it up i wanted nothing more than to do the impossible and complete the mission. beat the jailer in all their phases and make it to he surface, i didn't even really know why. maybe for vengeance maybe more to prove myself through my achievements. but each jailer seemed to chip away at my reasons. i had my vengeance on the first who caused me the most pain. he actually helped to cement my goal in a way. but then came the strap. someone alot like me who had lost all sense from imprisonment. i felt pity for them when we met. but in killing her i didn't feel much as the voice says "you put her out of her misery". sometimes i wonder if she was here to find and stop me. but we'll never know. the line made me literally stop and think about what i was doing. both metaphorically and during the fight. the scale was when i first thought to myself "i deserve this, but i still need to push through." the hand forced me to think about consequence. how getting what i wanted, whatever that was in the end, was killing people. quite literally. the song offered me a very simple choice that would set a new precedent. while the burst and edge would push my skills to their very limit using most of everything i had learned. a pure bareknuckle fight to the end of the road. theres alot i could say about the beat. more subjective than not. i felt compassion and overwhelming pity for them. every swing i laid into them i hesitated, like it was heavy. there was a moment when i just stood there not attacking because i knew it was the last moment. and it hurt to win.
This game's story, especially with the way it is told, is my favorite thing (that twist where you are the bad guy is very well done). The gameplay is cool as well, but the next best thing is the OST, which is also my favorite thing. Great video!
Oh! and the best quote for me is one that only makes sense when you are free from he prision, and comes from The Arquitect: "there is a fine line between love and madness"
Yeah, I kind of fell into it because Big Budget/AAA games have never performed well on my channel; look at the videos I've done on The Last of Us, Bioshock, or Destiny for instance - there's quite a difference in engagement. Lol. I'm happy it worked out this way though because as I've gone older, I've found that I enjoy indie games like this more than AAA ones anyways! And of course, I've been fortunate enough that people enjoy listening to me talk about games. Wouldn't be doing this without people like you, so seriously: thank you so much for watching. I really really appreciate it! :)
I'm in love with this game, and eventually i saw a new video telling the lore and the story of that game. In this particular one, i'm only want to add that the interactions, the scenes, the designs and top of that, the OST that makes this game a total masterpiece (for me, of course). Everything works in harmony, and it's beautiful. 10/10 video btw, you caught the essence and what makes this game so unique. Thanks man!
Hey, you're my very first Super Thanks! I've got such a big smile on my face now! Thanks so much for your generosity! And thanks for the continued support, man! It may not seem like it, but I promise I'm working on the Darkest Dungeon story video. I originally was going to make multiple videos on the game, one for the story in the base game, one for the Crimson Court DLC, and maybe one more the Color of Madness, but recently decided to just do all of it at once in one big video, so the project has ballooned quite a bit. Lol. Unfortunately, I don't see it coming out until sometime next month at least, but I promise I'm working on it! Thanks again for the support and your generosity, man. I really really appreciate it! :)
@@SquatchGamingChannel dude don’t worry about how long it’s gonna take to make, cuz I know when it does it’s going to be a banger of a video like always.
The only part you missed was the DLC fight against The Flame who was waiting for The Rider inside the tower, preventing him from accessing his exo-suit and returning to the Mothership. Yeah it's not in the main game, but the way it's setup it's supposed to be. The Flame like The Scale and The Chain fights the Rider, motivated by hate/revenge for him. But after you see the destruction your presence alone causes, it makes sense why he's trying so hard to stop you. He was also preparing for the Rider's arrival, suggesting he knew the prison couldn't hold him forever.
One thing: it’s implied that the prison is also in a time limbo all in of itself. The Line wants his clocks to tick again - literally, because the Stranger caused time itself to stop: the Jailers had had to trap themselves in with the Stranger in a time loop as to so totally remove The Stranger from normal space+time. We know time control is possible from The Line, and intro to The Edge’s stage implies that the dude has been training for an eternity. This is why the implied loops and cycles make sense. Why the Architect is driven to such desperation as to work to free the Stranger - and why the Architect’s daughter is still at such a young age in spite of all of the escape attempts the Stranger had attempted, apparently. Or how long the Edge had been training. The Strap is also relevant, because her story: the Architect says that the prison containing her was a mistake - instead of placating and containing the threat, it only drove her completely insane - making the potential catastrophe of an breakout even destructive. The Line called it a warning, and so The Song realized that simple containment wasn’t enough. That was why the Architect and The Scale were on board - The Scale was corrupted, and the goal was to figure out how to undo this corruption that the Stranger caused. They were not just trying to lock up the Stranger for all time, just to delay until they were able to reverse engineer a cure. But that failed. That’s why the Architect hates The Song and talks as though she’s trying to cover up her mistake - because her plan failed, and it got the Architect stuck in the prison against his will, desperately trying to “fix” the Scale, to no success. In desperation, with no way to solve the Stranger’s poison or condition, the Architect chose the only last ace-in-the-hole: that this journey of escape would give a moral conscious to the Stranger.
Absolutely spectacular, the effort and dedication put into this and all your videos are clearly evident. the only problem I see is that not enough people watch and appreciate your amazing content.
The game immediately drew me in with what I always deemed to be its immediate inspirations on all fronts, from its Hotline Miami inspired music, to its Afro Samurai story and presentation, to its No More Heroes esc. gameplay structure. It was like a perfect blend of things I absolutely love, into a very satisfying gameplay experience. I'm often surprised how little people talk about how Furi really does carry its inspirations very close to its heart, because to me? It only enhances the experience further!
I really appreciate this video. Stories like this one I really benefit from post experience analysis to have all it's elements reach full impact. When you're experiencing it for the first time you're being fed small pieces of vague and incomplete information. In the scenario of playing Furi - I'm pouring energy into the focus of overcoming the challenge of each Jailer. I'm not exactly in the mindset to immerse back into the story. I'm riding that buzz of accomplishment (and a little bit of spiteful vengeance of having to hear them preach or goad over and over 😅). I'm grateful you were able to help me appreciate this game I love even more! Cheers!
Having watched this before beating the Star, I feel like I'm more motivated to try and defeat her now. Also, thank you for this video. Even if I saw the cutscene of the Architect with his daughter (I went straight to the tower), I bet I wouldn't have figured out that he was... well, the Architect.
I was hoping you'd cover this sometime! man sticking around was worth it, ever since that very first hotline miami one. Really good summary of the story here, you got some tid bits that i didn't get from the game at all AND I"VE PLAYED IT 6 TIMES ALREADY so yeah, great video as always Squatch!
Sorry about the wait! Was working on a RoR2 video and it just wasn't working out. Decided to shelve that and make this! Hope you enjoyed! Thanks for watching!
I ABSOLUTLY Love the way you tell the storys in this chanel, whith so much passion and hearth, while at the same time sounding realy calm, it is very unique. Thanks from Mexico. Just one question, I think I saw something related to a dlc boss calles "the flame", is that guy not canon or?
Thank you very much! I put a lot of work into these, so it means a lot to me to hear people like you enjoy them as much as you do! :) Yep! The Flame is a DLC boss that appears just before the Stranger claims his exosuit on the Planet. I considered talking about him, but decided against it because he doesn’t really add too much more to the story. While it’s clear that he faced the Stranger before the Hand captured him, it’s not stated why The Flame was stationed on the Planet. He could have been assigned as the “Eleventh Guardian” by the people of the Planet in the event that the Stranger escaped, or he could have taken it upon himself to be that “Eleventh Guardian,” being an unofficial Guardian of sorts. That’s the best I’ve got! Thanks again for the kind words! And thanks for watching!

Just discovered your channel. Instant subscribe. Speaking of I just have one question. How dafuk don't you have more subscriber ? Awesome job I already know I'm going to love your other videos.
Awesome to hear, man! Thanks so much for the support! It’s most likely due to two things: 1. I’m not consistent enough. There’s typically a month or more between uploads because of how much work goes into these. 2. I cover indie games which naturally have a smaller audience, meaning I have a smaller audience. I’m so thankful for the audience I do have though. It’s awesome that so many people like to watch this. It’s really humbling. Thanks again for watching, man! Hope you enjoy anything else you watch!

Stories in games like Furi, the Lisa series and Hotline Miami can all be appreciated more thanks to your superb videos! Please never stop telling the stories of these great games! :))

I’m glad you talk about indie games lore some are better than the big budget lore great video keep it up man
Yeah, I kind of fell into it because Big Budget/AAA games have never performed well on my channel; look at the videos I've done on The Last of Us, Bioshock, or Destiny for instance - there's quite a difference in engagement.
Thanks man!
Thanks! I always go back and rewatch your old videos, thanks for making such amazing videos.
Played this Recently, and man I loved it, you read my mind though cuz I was totally thinking it'd be Squatch Video Worthy!
What a funny coincidence! Lol. Hope you enjoyed, man! Thanks for watching!
It sucks that on pc hes just an optional fight in the menu. Probably why hes not here.
It's baffling how people still don't get what the whole concept Furi was presenting. "Show, tell few, focus on action"
You did a really good job encompassing the story lore in your video, I enjoyed it very much, thank you!
Thank you for watching! :)
Absolutely spectacular, the effort and dedication put into this and all your videos are clearly evident. the only problem I see is that not enough people watch and appreciate your amazing content.
this was such a great video. you're such a great storyteller !
I did not realize the voice was the boss we skipped! Wow!!
this game has no right to have a soundtrack that slaps this fucking hard
This is a genre of games that needs to be looked at nore. One of the best games ive ever played.
This was such a cool game, especially the soundtrack. Still one of my favorites
Just got the platinum for the game. Absolute masterpiece. Can't believe its not held in the same regard as Hades.
I’ve heard of this game a long time ago from a friend. I’ve been looking for this, and I have been interested in this game ever since.
Damn, I didn't know about that extra cutscene with the Voice at the beach
Honestly, I felt hesitant to play again, as I knew moving foreward would mean to doom of innocents.
pitter patter, pitter patter indeed rabbit dude
Woo! I've been waiting for this one, good job man
Sorry about the wait! Hope you enjoyed! Thanks for watching! :)
The only question that remains is why the Voice/Architect had to become a guardian and do so without his daughter.
Probably the Song being a dickhead
Holy shit man, amazing video. I'm not that good at understanding stories in games and most stuff just flies over my head. This is just what i needed 🥰
Need this channel to be successful, it’s super enjoyable
I’d say it’s successful! Lol. Thanks for the kind words! Really appreciate them and happy to hear you enjoyed watching! :)
This dude sounds like the announcer for the Nintendo directs
I wish. Probably pays more than I get from these videos.
Thanks for watching!
The star is the only boss I couldn't beat and caused me to drop it bc its just insanely difficult. Pure bs imo I hate that fight.
Finally a new lore video
Sorry about the wait! Was working on a RoR2 video and it just wasn't working out. Decided to shelve that and make this! Hope you enjoyed! Thanks for watching!
1:02 Perfect song to talk about time.
Yep!
Amazing summary! You have a great voice for narration, and i very much enjoyed this video.
I really enjoyed this video right here Squatch Gaming. I've been subbed to your channel for awhile now and everything you put out is always getting me interested into it one way or the other. Speaking of that I think there might be a game that you may be interested in covering called re:kinder. It's an old rpg maker game that I think you may probably really like.
They made Haven as well? Alright, now I know what game I'm playing next.
You guys should do lakeview valley and lakeview cabin series ! The story is really good and would be very interesting!
That would be amazing
This game is a masterpiece! Still one of my favs..
Just discovered your channel. Instant subscribe. Speaking of I just have one question. How dafuk don't you have more subscriber ? Awesome job I already know I'm going to love your other videos.
Awesome to hear, man! Thanks so much for the support!
It’s most likely due to two things:
So the stranger kills thousands of people with no remorse then he learns empathy after killing several other people most of them fighting because the stranger is just a bad guy then has just a good guy no this man is horrendous
Now this i have anticipated for a long time.
Sorry about the wait, my dude, but hope you enjoyed! Thanks so much for watching! :)
Love the video, I just checked out your entire channel, amazing content, you have so many videos about games that I love, and more about games I undoubtedly will play 💚
Damn dude your storytelling skills are so good my guy. Hoped you would go into more detail on each boss but I get that there’s not really much to go with.
Thanks, man! I've had a lot of practice, so I guess it shows. Lol.
Yeah, I would have loved to go more in depth with the bosses, but like you said, there's not a whole lot there. Was plenty of stuff about the Stranger and the Architect though, so I'm happy with the way their stories turned out. :)
Thanks for watching, man!
@@SquatchGamingChannel it really made me appreciate the story more, I would’ve never worked out the architect was the bunny head guy and the gamble he made with rider great stuff my guy, really looking forward to your new videos!!
Awesome to hear, man! :)
It'll probably be a while before the next one is made. It's going to be a story video on The Darkest Dungeon (the first one), and I think that's a pretty long game which means it'll take a while to get everything I need for the video and whatnot. If I had to guess, probably July, but rest assured, I'm working on something! :)
@@SquatchGamingChannel hell YEAH!!!
This was a hellish game to play with a mouse and keyboard, but I managed to finish it.
Got the platinum for Furi, loved it
Bro, I can't even imagine. Wouldn't have the patience. I was stuck on the Edge for like 2 days on Furi difficulty. Can't even imagine what it was like on Furier. Lol. Kudos!
Thanks for watching!
@@SquatchGamingChannel Thanks man, it definitely tested my skills, took me some practice to get S rank in Furier story mode, but in the end it felt so satisfying
These two gives me the vibes of afro samurai, like a LOT
I’ll be honest, the beat is pretty much the easiest boss right? Like she can’t really fight that well, and all she has are the security weapons. I’m pretty sure the architect can slip past all the guards, steal her hockey stick, and escape
I liked this VERY much. Good video. Good job.
This deserves more attention
Your videos are some of the best on youtube
Rickard, flattery will get you nowhere. Lol. But seriously, man, I appreciate the kind words, and the continued support! :)
And, of course, thanks for watching!
Didn't cover the side ending that you can remain with the Song for an alt ending where you don't escape. Could've just slid it in I think
That's what the whole "The Stranger could almost see what it would be like to live here with the Song" section was supposed to be. Maybe it wasn't clear enough. My bad!
Thanks for watching!
This guy reminds me of basically a space marine
A weird theory I thought of that is the trap could be something like an anti virus that sent to stop the raider but she was too early and they couldn’t make sense of her and locked her
I recently found your channel and Its awesome :D Good job
Thanks a lot, man! Happy you stopped by and that you’ve enjoyed what you’ve watched so far! Appreciate you spending the time! :)
Loved your hotline Miami videos and this is just as good
Why wasn't there anyone that wanted to study the stranger and find more about him and his kind? Did they simply not care?
I never played this game, but my brother loved it.
Also I love your voice lol
Nice! Hope I did it justice! Also, side note: your username kind of fits the setting of the game!
Thank you very much! Compliments like that always funny to me because when I started, people would complain about my voice. Lol. Guess I've grown! :)
Thanks so much for watching too! I really appreciate it!
A other good vidoe dude keep it up you rock
Thanks so much for watching, man! Happy to hear you enjoyed! :)
New video! Hell yeah!
Sorry about the wait! Hope you enjoyed! Thanks for watching! :)
Your videos are so amazing! The effort you put into piecing together the stories for these games is incredible and criminally unappreciated. Stories in games like Furi, the Lisa series and Hotline Miami can all be appreciated more thanks to your superb videos! Please never stop telling the stories of these great games! :))
It would be funny is the stranger immediately killed the architect's daugther lmfao
"The Prisoner is the key, if I use him - I will be free" - thought the Architect. So, he is the main character of this story, not the Prisoner, ain't that right?
Very good video, Thanks my dood.
Thanks for watching! Happy to hear you enjoyed! :)
Absolutely love your videos! Can you look into the Skullgirls lore?
Thank you so much! Happy to hear you've enjoyed! :)
I have my schedule filled up for the rest of the year, but maybe when I get those games done, I can take a look at Skullgirls. Thanks for the request! And thanks for watching!
Damn dude, by any chance do you know about hyper light drifter? It’s a cool game and it’d be awesome if you made a video about it
Hyper Light Drifter is on the list of games to do this year! I'm going to be doing The Darkest Dungeon (the first one) next, and then it's either Hyper Light Drifter or Little Nightmares (and maybe a Risk of Rain one dotted in there - depends on if I want to do it, when the new DLC comes out for consoles, and what I have on my plate at the time)!
Haven't decided which one will be getting one first, and can't say exactly *when* it'll happen, but rest assured there will be one eventually! Thanks for the request! And thanks for watching! :)
@@SquatchGamingChannel that’s great to hear! I’m really looking forward to your content in the future, hope the best happens to you my man so keep it up!
Great video earned a sub
Could you make a video about darkwood?
It's funny you ask that: I just came across Darkwood on my own recently. Read through the synopsis and thought it might be worth a video! If I make something on it, it'll be a while. I've got a list I'm working through now, but when that's done, maybe I'll do Darkwood!
Thanks for the request! And thanks for watching! :)
best soundtrack ever
my Favourite indie game.
You'd be hard press to find many indi games with as gripping of a story as this. Shame it's a one off. I'd love to see the world expanded on and the stranger given more depth.
That's all very well and good, but why does the Architect wear that really creepy rabbit helmet?
nice vid and reminded me of a game i loved playing
It was a very good video, too bad it doesn't take into account the dlc talking about the flame that comes to take revenge in the tower
Furi aka afro samurai boss rush synthwave edition.
you should absolutely play rainworld, its a fantastic game :> id love to see you make a video about it.
I missed some of the story because I was focused on the music
Ironically, saving the planet is worse.
Imagine killing all humans and all other life on earth into total absolute extinction just so you can save some space germs on mars.
Do you know something about the “last battle”
It’s a extra boss
He should do a video on backbone
There is another part of the story. That of the Flame
Thank you. We can. And by we i mean only me. Because to change you need the power he has. But most likely i tend to destroy prove me wrong why i should not extinct existence or raising hell but bringing paradise for all if i cannot have what i want.
Can you do evolve next
I don't think you got the story quiet right. The architect's plan was a lot deeper than you know.
Oh, really? What was missed? I’m be happy to hear!
Thanks for watching!
Hey I was strolling around the games I have an stumbled upon the final station and the story on it has always confused me and was wondering if you can do a video on it but I understand if you can't but I was just saying as a recommendation
It’s been requested/recommended a few times! I’ve got a full schedule right now, but maybe in a few months (or maybe next year), I’ll finally tackle the game!
Thanks for the request, man. And thanks for watching! :)
Let's be serious. We should've got a secret ending with the Beat. The Song was too manipulative.
