*Sweating profusely*
LOL
I was expecting that for the Milotic, not the Garchomp.
eyeball earthquake
14 minutes of a edited video.
"You see Garchomp has a preset number of times he can use earthquake. Knowing this, I sent wave after wave of my own pokemon at him until he shut down. Calli, show them the medal I won." -Kiara Brannigan
I wasn’t expecting a Zapp Brannigan reference here! Thanks for making my day 🤣
Underrated comment.
I love this
"If we hit the bullseye, the rest of the dominoes should fall like a house of cards. Checkmate."
That exactly how I best Red in crystal, his sorlax was just testing through my team and I just tank it out until it ran out of moves and struggled to death lol.
I'm having heart attack from wheezing with that "What's Garchomp" line of Kiara lol.
I had a heart attack too! Man I was there live
I was already dying when she thought Lucario was her strongest, What's a Garchomp sent me into cardiac arrest xD
When she said that, I immediately went "oh no..."
to be fair, if youre used to playing Pokemon on german (like me for example), youre always like that hearing/reading the english names :D
Guess she won't forget garchamp now huh?
I remember loved a couple of remarks while watching this:
- I love that she's learning some basic pokemon info (like full restores not reviving) while being in the champion fight
- that this felt the closest thing to "a chat plays pokemon" with Kiara being the one choosing an option randomly
For one shining moment, we were "the voices".
Why does she know Kryppuk though?
@@Justic_ Yes but how in the world did she learn the german name? xD
TPP is a thing that exists.

I would say this reference is pure Gold , but it's actually Golder
She literally Joe Yabuki'd her way to victory. Just took punch after punch until the opponent had no arms left.
Ahh cultured are we
Yes, Lance did have a point lol
Never forget the full restore supersoaker

"It's wasn't? Garchomp? WHAT'S GARCHOMP?"
Not knowing about that beast...makes the approaching dread so much worse.
Thinking about it.. I think she only knew Garchomp as "Knackrack", the german name.
@@galactwicderinstabile Well, the thing that made me worry initially was the first statement, "LUCARIO WAS HER STRONGEST POKEMON, WASN'T IT?" So she didn't seem aware of Cynthia having a Garchomp, regardless what its species name is in other countries.
@@XellosNi Aah, yeah that makes sense
@@XellosNi when she said that i had that premonition that she would suffer as we all suffered before, but she asked for backseating because she didn't try to learn how to play nor best herself
This is about as close as TwitchPlaysPokemon we can get. Chat was literally Kiara's braincell.
Yep, and a defective one for the most part lmao
@@Rubydrag33 Yeah, you can literally get that chomp from +4 down to -2 just switching pokemon around with no one dying while depleting it EQ PP then end with our good boy Peter tanking hit nad bwaming ice. Kiara using her phoenix power to revive her pokemons it's not unfair for cynthia it's a strategy XD
Is she a phoenix or do we actually have 2 necromancers in hololive?
Even with that Cynthia it is still unfai for Kiara lol, if she played alone she wouldn't know how to face Garchomp with max EV and IV honestly the best bet right now is to use Togekiss but you will need to sacrifice Roserade which is needed to kill Gastrodon but Gastrodon will be exchaged with Togekiss so i think it is better to use Togekiss than Roserade

At least it wasn't a nuzlocke
Yeah that would’ve been yet another dead run to Cynthia the run slayer lol
She had intimidate staraptor, she coulda just swapped it around a bit till it's -6 or something lol
@@jamestdfm The Garchomp had swords dance to counter that.
@@DaAzNChen The Staraptor Pivot strategy with intimidate would have been the best choice because Kiara has alot of Pokemon (Jirachi, Rapidash, Luxray, Empoleon) weak to EQ so the best move would be send in one of the 4 Switch in Staraptor, and rinse repeat, Jirachi and Empoleon easily tank a dragon Claw and Sword Dance was mostly only used after her Atk was already lowered or after EQ ran out. The AI while having good Pokemon does make alot of predictable choices. Of course seeing Kiara struggle in her own way was the correct choice overall since we got to see great content.
Stun Spore for speed/
Be killed, call other Pokémon like rapidash, change to staraptor /intimidate inmedially after that.

Pretty sure we all fought Cynthia like that as kids. Just spamming Revives because we had no clue how to deal with her Pokemon.
And her line of "What's Garchomp?" made me realize something. Something that adds to the true *terror* of Cynthia. On a first Sinnoh Playthrough, you'll absolutely see Roserade, Gastrodon, and Lucario - they're carried by prominent Gym Leaders. In Platinum, she doesn't even have Gastrodon. The player will most likely not have gone out of their way to get a Garchomp, Togekiss, Milotic, or Spiritomb, and no AI trainer you can fight up to this point (that I know of) has one. This means that half of her team comes as a complete surprise, and, especially in the older games, it can be hard to identify their weaknesses at a glance.

I've seen a more painful fight than this, because this is exactly how my fight against Cynthia went, except my saving grace was my Bronzong.
Kiara using her phoenix powers to its full extent
i think watching this fight makes me feel similar to how chess players mustve felt about that one chess match between kiara and ame lmao watching this live made me die a little inside
cant let myself get all that worked up about it tho lol, ppl can play pokemon in whatever way works/makes it fun for them. and hey, phoenix strats did pay off in the end XD
i can confirm about the chess match
Yeah, i mean Cynthia is probably the toughest champion so i can't get too mad her team is damn good.
I may not be a great Pokemon player, but I'm pretty sure chess players felt worse. At least in the end, even if it was scuffed, this strategy worked.
In the case of chess, imagine that both Kiara and Cynthia spent ~30-120 seconds planning each move, only to (somehow) force their pokemon to hurt themselves in confusion each time, and the winner just ended up being whoever happened not to kill themselves first. And during the whole time they are saying things like, "Fire is super effective against rock-type pokemon, so I'm going to use Alakazam against Steelix. Wait what is this 'PP' thing? When did they add this to the game? I'm not used to these zoomer mechanics." That would be more similar to what the chess match is like...
Maybe that sounds a bit harsh; I think it's great that players of any level can play and enjoy chess, and the match has its own charm, but at the same time... I still feel that my analogy is quite accurate to the viewing experience.
That one guy who said "this is awful" doesn't believe in the power of friendship and spam revive.
Even though it was a chaotic fight, I loved how entertaining it was. Thanks for making this extended clip of that fight.
I kinda like how Kiara constantly revives her pokemon considering she's a phoenix

This could have been a lot smoother lol. Swapping to the flying one when about to use earthquake against one of the steel ones would have finished this earlier, in the end it is the same cheap tactic lol. That mf even has anti fairy measures and an ice damage reducing berry, truly the greatest champion.
This was a great watch live and I love that you clipped it so quick so I can relive this moment and share it with my friends. Great job as always
As someone who used this strategy for most of my playthroughs of every Pokemon game I played before gen 6, I see absolutely nothing wrong here, stalling is a pretty surefire bet if you completely blow your regular gameplay strategy
Staling is a bit more boring to watch, but I also think there is nothing wrong using it. The tools are there so it would be dumb not to use them if it is the best option.
@@IexistIguessidk oh absolutely, watching it is often suffering due to how monotonous it is, it's definitely a fall back strategy not a main one
I don't like to use stalling because i don't want my pokemon to be meat shields lol but there's nothing wrong with using it, i just get too attached to my pokemon to do it.
@Mitchy not really funny enough, or at least not in the gen 1 remakes, Daisy would always claim my bond with my pokemon was the strongest possible, for my starter at least anyway
Kiara became a champion despite her and chat's best efforts.
Also, stalling is the strategy I used to beat Cynthia... I just spawned X Items on my Empoleon until it could one-shot and face-tank everything.
I had this stream in the background until I heard pianos and screaming chickens where i turned into a soccer fan during FIFA season
based on that thumbnail alone before i watched the video, i thought “that’s not cursed, it’s relatable.”
Funfact: switching into Roserade to Dazzling Gleam the Spiritomb, then get ohko'd by Psychokinesis was actually a carbon copy of Pekora's run lol
I guess both Tenchou and Shachou were in the same wavelength.
When she asked "What's Garchomp", I knew it's not going to go well. Congrats to Kiara for not giving up halfway.
Man Cynthia's pokemon is EV trained and almost perfect IV and has the right nature truly the best champion in the pokemon series
Cynthia actually have all her mons full EV with perfect IV on all stat except their least use offensive stat. The E4 teams is 1 of from perfect IV and halfway EV trained. All of them have competitive set and held items, this remake league in the strongest of all 8 gens
@@KhoiNguyen-xv4jd They're not particularly competitive sets, and her team as a whole lacks cohesion. Watch Wolfey's video about Cynthia's team. I shudder to think what would happen to casuals like Kiara if Cynthia actually had a competitive team.
@@Telogor None of the Champions actually have a competitive team, by my understanding. It may not have synergy, but at least Cynthia had a strong, diverse team.
@@Telogor i think her platinum team is better actually, gastrodon is too redundant, but by pokemon campaign standards her team can pose a challenge to most players.
@@Telogor Her team isn’t Wolfey level of competitive. Her team lacking is speed control, like severely. Kiara's eyes are like that for almost 17 mins of the vid
lmao, back and forth with chat is a headache and a half

I have the feeling that chat was responsible for this mess o.O
truly a pheonix
You must have so must fun, watching Kiara guide her Pokemon through life and dead.
To be honest she wasn't doing that bad... Until that monster got into the battle lol
And I've never fought Cynthia myself so I didn't know strong she actually was... And man she is so f*cking scary
So... To put it into perspective, Cynthia as an NPC with her team as is would be able to hold her own in the competitive scene of Pokémon games, aka her team is minmaxed for what each Pokémon's particular niche is, with the only faults being that Cynthia herself is an NPC and that levels aren't locked to 50 or 100
Cynthia is an absolute monster. So many trainers, new and old, have been traumatized by her team.
@@Tiragron99 Multiple videos have been done showcasing that she is indeed the strongest champion, no one coming close
She's been a recurring nightmare in the pokemon series, on the gen following diamond and pearl you randomly find her on a house and she battles you with her infamous garchomp and a pretty good team of other pokemon, she also participated on the world championship and she was... Tough.
lmfao i did a facepalm when she used full restore on a healthy pokemon trying to revive the Roserade, and immediately the editor got me
The game let's you use a full restore on a fainted pokemon and it skips your turn? WTF!?
That's what bothers me the most. Even the older games don't do that!
Idiot tax
Honestly her team was a big problem in this battle. 5/6 mons that would get oneshoted by earthquake, all of them slower and Luxray with no intimidate. Her only possible strat to beat garchomp without the revive fiesta was to intimidate dance with Staraptor avoiding the earthquakes directed to her other mons untill she wasted all her PP, but she didn't realize and chat just kept telling her to sacrifice everyone. It was pretty fun watching a potential garchomp sweep tho.
Well she said it herself best, she was playing for fun before all. There's no way she would've given up her Luxray for one with Intimidate, especially without knowing about it or even what it does beforehand. She also hardly knew anything about what her team was resistant to without chat's help.
As for baiting the EQs onto her Staraptor, you're right of course, but you have to realize that she had no idea what to do and chat was zooming with all types of answers. The simplest way to make her understand mid-fight how to PP stall the EQs was to tell her to keep sending her team to the slaughterhouse. She only realized halfway through that her Staraptor was immune to them, but by then the strategy was already paying off, so there was no point in telling her how to optimize it.
Overall, I know it can be frustrating to watch (I used to play competitive myself), but I don't think it's a good mindset to expect a casual player to make min-maxed plays. In the end, it made for an intense battle that she fought her way through, thanks to a joint effort with her chat, that she will likely remember for a long time, and I think it's all that matters. That being said, you might enjoy Sana's and Calli's playthroughs more, if you haven't checked them out already.
@@BlaZay My comment wasnt a complain, what I wanted to point out is that the garchomp fight was already super hard without taking into account her skill level solely by considering the tools she had avaliable without judging anything else, and that there was only one possible strat aside entering the slaughterhouse to win, as I said, I had fun watching an almost wipe.
I watched Sana and Callie's league, they are of course more experienced but their strategy for the league was basically overleveling to oblivion which honestly was pretty boring to me, Kiara and Ina were way more enjoyable to watch because there was a potential for failing. Calli still needed some thinking, at least before Cynthia, but Sana was just a oneshot fiesta with no emotion.
8:52
She literally just said Volt Switch
ON A GARCHOMP
I'M LITERALLY DYING
Twitch plays pokemon part got me laughing so much!
She really is a phoenix because her specialty is reviving.
The perfect strategy for a Phoenix!
Stun Spore was the obvious solution to Garchomp, I dunno what chat is smoking. Paralysis cuts speed in half, then Empoleon can come in and get the easy Ice Beam kill. Just keep reviving Roserade until she successfully paralyzes. It's a much better answer than "PP Stall for 15 minutes."
Garchomp outspeed Roserade and KO in 1 hit. So it would not have been able to Paralyze.
Empoleon Ice Beam is also not sure to kill in 1 hit at that point, Garchomp has a Yache Berry which reduce from x4 effective to x2 effective for the first hit, without Crit that's ~50% of HP only.
A better use would have been to Earthquake bait with sending anyone and switching to Staraptor, that also PP Stall but saves more Revive and gets Intimidate more often, which forces it to Swords Dance and take an hit.
There's also a lot of Chat that thought her Pokemon had different Abilities, her Luxray doesn't have Intimidate, her Rapidash doesn't have Flame Body and her Roserade doesn't have Poison Point. All those would have made it easier
@@TheMyuken Roserade could have used Stun Spore when she survived on affection, something that did happen at least once in the fight anyway. Once paralysed, all of her Pokémon would outspeed Garchomp, so even if Ice Beam failed to kill, the fight would still be much easier. I’m not even saying Stun Spore would definitely work, but even if it didn’t, she’d still have been PP stalling while attempting it. She’d be doing the same thing, but with a decent chance at a quicker victory. It’s just a better option than throwing out a stray Dazzling Gleam that barely hurts it.
A second Intimidate would have been helpful, but Poison Point is pretty garbage. Flame Body would have been huge IF you could get it to activate, but that’s a big if, because Earthquake is not a contact move, so you’d have to bait it into using Dragon Claw by hard switching, and then it’s still only 30%. Poison Point is in the same difficult situation, but with even less payoff. Also, a single Swords Dance negates the attack drop from burn, so I’d still say Paralysis is the better option, since it has no way to recover the lost speed. And that’s before even considering the 25% chance it is unable to move, which is just icing in the cake.
u gotta use what u got. I would have quit and grind some, but I would not have the gotten the first try. Aced it despite the odds!
