That amp sounds massive! But honestly that sweet white Dingwall distract me more LOL....
damn all the basses sounded so different.... thanks for going to the effort of showcasing so many!
I’m a fan of darkglass and this bass head will find it’s way into my amp arsenal.
This video was the main reason I decided to buy my AO900 Centurion! NOBODY else covered everything I was wanting to know about this amp! So informative! Thank you for making this man! I'm so happy I made this purchase! \m/ You're the man Patrick!
That Gibson Ripper through the Dark Glass is a BEAST Love IT
Love all the different basses in the demo and showing the amp settings together. Informative editing.
This is the best sounding Darkglass demo I have yet seen. Every single vid out there of anyone reviewing or demonstrating a Darkglass amp or pedal always have all their mids completely scooped out. Too many bassists don't comprehend that the original intended purpose of the "mid scoop" was for slapping and popping style only. Scooped mids sounds like crap when playing with a pick or fingers. This demo sounded quite a bit more juicy and had a warmer tone than all the others I've seen.
Dingwall and Darkglass: name a more iconic duo!
Great demo as always!
Alvin Maker I’m a Warwick and Darkglass guy myself, love the sound of Dingwall and Darkglass too though
Oh, nice Harley Benton Enhanced you got there! Looking forward for the review! And the amp is just amazing. Darkglass really know their craft!
So happy they made a 500 version of this
I bought one of these three months ago. I LOVE it!
So good. Would loved to have seen more of the compressor. Thinking of selling my whole board and going with one of these - aux in and headphones with cab sim is a slam dunk.
Tony Watson I’m thinking of doing the same thing bro. Sell the whole board and just get this head. Also want to get a lil lightweight cab with 2x10s and my home practice rig will be complete. I just love how small these Darkglass heads are. It makes it so ideal for a home practice rig with a smaller cab, then completely useable in the full on live show setting with my 4x10 cab.
Got one on order and pretty excited. Thanks for the video. Nice run through.
Actually, the first and sixth EQ sliders are low and high SHELF boost/cut , not low and high pass filters - Big difference 😊.
After this video, definitely interested in adding her to the collection. It'd look good with my mesas.
Awesome video! Are you going to review the M900 V2? Would love to see a comparison video! I want to see this amp paired with an Axe Fx you could probably get some crazy experimental tones
WOOOOOOOOWWWW!!!! That P Bass tone in the intro!! Top 5 best bass sounds for me! 😲
Awesome as always Patrick!!
Nice amp. I'm still a tube guy for life. Maybe if I'm still performing in my 60's I'll move to class D, or pay a young buck to move my 85# head.
I'd probably get one, despite the price and the fact that I don't use distortion a lot. However the lowest eq slider seems set at a pretty high frequency. 250 Hz is usually a low mid eq point, but I suppose that's why the hi pass filter is there.
You can play anything on any bass with any pedal... And you move your head like if you were Robert Trujillo playing with Infectious Grooves inside the Wembley Stadium.
Damn. That riff at 1:10 made me want to go and listen to some Death From Above.
Did you leave the preamp section flat on your Dingwall or no? It’s hard for me to tell if you’re already EQ’ing the bass and EQ’ing it again on the amp, as I’m trying to listen to the characteristics of the amp closely.
I have the pedal, and I constantly get compliments at shows for how nice by bass tone is. I got it for $200 new, think they go for $300 normally though.
I’d like to see a 500 watt version. I love my Microtubes 500 and want a second for bi amping
Very cool amp! Also, that blue 5 string (harley benton?) sounds so great!!
I'm using my M900 for band rehersal and silent practise at home (don't want to buy a seperate B3K again) and what bugs me the most at the moment is that I have to take my whole equipment with me every time to have the integrated B3K in my sound. That's why the Usb, AUX and Cab Sim provide no value to me. Plus you can often daisy chain your cabs, so no use for two speaker outs too. Plus no exact adjustments to the compressor. Plus a reduced EQ compared to the M900. I say it's a jack of all trades but a master of none..
Edit: If I could chose again, I would go for a seperate class D power amp and build my pedals around it, namely an dbx 131s EQ and a B7KU V2.
Was debating on a new purchase between this or the Mesa/Boogie Subway WD-800.. I haven't played in a very long time. Last amp was a Mesa mpulse.
Holy distortion Batman!
Man... this is making my G.A.S. go off the charts. LOL!
You can use guitar 6 string on this? Sorry my bad English.
Awesome amp!!! What parameters can be controlled with Midi?
Hi Patrick, hope you are well.I like the demo.I have a bit of a weird set up.I run a guitar and bass amp and an ABY pedal with electric guitar and have an octave down going to the bass amp.Do you think this would sound good through this amplifier? I'm playing heavy riffs most of the time but some clean stuff too. Thanks any feedback would be appreciated.
Can you review both the jazz and precision advanced. I wanna see both
Came across the DAO 900 and this is a great review - is the device fully controlled via midi?
That intro made me feel like the grunge/hardcore singer I wish I could be. May sound like nonsense but its true
Hi Patrick, thank you for your videos. Il love AO900 but Is it possible to make a video with a funky riff with a clear sound to realize the rendering. RHCP style. or slap. I hesitate with a Mesa Boogie WD800
heya patrick, is darkglass going to release a 500 Watt version of the Alpha·Omega 900 & Microtubes 900 v2 ???
I'm torn between getting one of these or buying a Stingray 5 Dark Ray. I feel like the head might give me the best of both worlds with either my Cutlass or a regular Stingray Special.
This or the new Microtubes 900 v2? I like the vintage microtubes sound too--do you think this can cop that as well? Thanks for all the videos!
Dumb question about the outputs: does this amp put out 900 w per output, or does it split between? And if you use both, does that cut the resistance in half? Thanks!
Hey Patrick I’m getting a set of in-ears and dark glass Wes recommended to meI’m not looking for overdrive but a clean sound. Which dark glass product would excellent for me?
Sounds like you use the neck pickup on the Dingwall a lot, but how do you like the ‘both in series’ setting that many opt for?
Hey man. Question, what cab are you playing it through?
Most likely a dg110n, it’s the 1x10 bass cab, supports up to 500 watts, though dark glass also sells a 2x12 (1000 watts), a 4x10 (1000 watts), and a 2x10 (500 watts). I can because of the carbon fibre on the top, which is immediately recognizable to me considering I own the dark glass 4x10
Amazing amp. It does everything I need. Could you cover the midi control aspects of it? Or can you us a DAW to switch Chanel's?
Thanks!
duuude, can't find anything, the IR is just through the phone out or the post DI out too?
Is this more versatile than my M900 + Super Switch and AOU?
It's basically just the AOU that has a compressor and a 900 watt power section. So no, with the M900 + AOU you've got another preamp plus two other drive tones to play with.
Never seen that 5 string B4. What's the make and model? Asking from my phone.
@@patrickhunter Didn't know you can buy them in the U.S. Did you do a review on it??
You buy em direct from Thomann's website, actually! And I haven't yet but soon!
What's the song at 1.57?
how much ?
Nice
I’m really glad he has an few and a A/O900 for the demo, but how the actually fuck did he make almost all of them sound the fucking same, especially the NG-2
My mainsound comes from my Darkglass B7K V2 pedal (with a little bit of gain) so this amp is useless to me I guess. I like a beautiful clean amp.
I use a Warwick LWA1000 wich is SUPER clean.
I wish darkglass made a nice clean amp because I'm gonna buy a Darkglass 2X12 cab
Not very clean 🤔, good dirty channel though which is what they are known for.
1thess523 I bet you could dial in a super smooth clean tone as well. Also your pick or finger attack would certainly help in getting a lighter or dirtier sound.
I am SO Jealous of that dingwall, and I I don't even play that much bass haha
want!!!
Do you ever play any clean bass?
Looks wonderfully built and feature rich, but I’m sorry it all just sounds like a Boss odb-3 to me. I don’t get the darkglass hype at all, I’ve got a feeling it’s gonna be one of those tones everyone looks back on and wonders what the hell they were thinking.
Right? Just yesterday I had the chance to play some darkglass pedals and an Amp and compare it to different ones and they all just sounded so much better, especially in combination with a Dingwall..
I do love the Darkglass tone a lot, that being said though Darkglass products are super overpriced. You can get virtually identical tone for way cheaper. The funny thing is, the Alpha Omega pedals and amps are based on Jon Stockman's tone from Karnivool, and the way he got that tone to begin with was using a boss odb-3.
Meh. I’d like to see them stick to boxes.
This is their pedal ‘box’ as you say paired with an amp. You think this is poorly executed? It does limit your possible uses and or tones. Nothing sounds like tubes either...
Second coment where is my heart, good sound.
I wish it didn't cost a million fucking dollars.
I have some seriously awesome videos in the works that I'm really excited about and I just wanna say thank y'all again for all the support!
Excited for future videos! I've had my m900 v2 preordered from day one!!! I can't freaking wait until the rest of the world gets their shipment!!!
nice bass hahah
What tuning are you using on the white Dingwall here? Thanks man. Absolutely love your videos.
How well do these clean up with your bass volume knob?
How do you get that low punch with the NG2 ? It is because of the ceramic 210 instead of neo one maybe ? Big bubbely tone
