- Some offensive content on replacing a strut bearing on a 2005 9-3 Aero sedan. Turning the steering wheel while listening for popping and creaking can be a sign of a bad strut bearing.

I've got to do this very job the next weekend we have good weather, on my Aero. Great info, thanks!
great video - informative, good camera work (lighting and angles), some excellent tips, fun to watch at the same time
Entertaining - good tips with good humor
That was awesome! Fun to watch! Thanks
Instructions unclear, dic got stuck in the timing chain tensioner.
No matter the SAABs, wanna see more of that cat :)
Nice HRE wheels though :-P
Nice. Like a cute little baby boy that came out of the womb of Uncle Bumblefuck from AvE and raised by RegularCarReviews. Subscribed.
Am i the only one hearing the reverend from the Simpsons ?
Dude your videos are so funny and helpful, please continue making them!
I'm surprised you did not use the two pack mix silicone rubber to fill the void in the underside of the top mount, turning it into a semi solid mount. It works very well
The black ring bearing can be pried apart, the interior cleaned and repacked with lithium grease
Reassembled, and refitted.
How are the stagg struts holding up?
What lowering springs do you have?
I had to sub for the way you said 4
Now I need to rewatch this.
Campest how-to video ever, but very useful
Loved the vid. Thorough. I got stabilizer thingies to replace sometime soon. On a different note, I have no cruise control on my car. If i just buy the steering unit (indicator stalk) with cruise control, will the cruise wotk? TIA.
No cruise. Talking about a 2003+ 9-3 like in this video? I'd ASSUME that it's as simple as switching control stalks, then coding whatever computer to recognize that it has cruise control via add/remove on a Tech2. Something worth looking into I guess.
@@KenCarTechMeow Thank a lot for the reply man. Much appreciated.
Mine I found out i was missing the spring for the clutch pedals return so the clutch wasn’t pushing the switch above the pedal so make sure nothing is interfering or missing under the steering column
@@zesowl Good point. Those clutch return springs do love to go missing. But he's asking about ADDING cruise to a car without cruise control.
Good video, just FYI, as for good or bad struts (shock absorbers), not all rebound on their own. Koni Yellows right out of the box don't rebound. It's the resistance you want to feel for pushing them in and pulling them back out. I was under that same impressive and had to inquire to find out the answer.
Really? I actually have Koni yellows on the black Combi at the start of the video. When they arrived 3 out of the 4 rebounded. 1 didn't. Turns out that strut was dead on arrival.
@@KenCarTechMeow Yeah I thought the same them with mine but I spoke with Koni directly and they informed me how they work and I wish I could find the messages but they are long gone now. It was all about resistance and they don't necessarily rebound, which does make sense if you think about it. You want it to absorb travel in both directions, so as long as there is firm resistance, the shock is still good :)
Ustam kolay gelsin somunlari tork la hiç sıkmadın sence miliwaiki ile sıkmak yeterlimi?
Where did u get your brakes and rotors from?
Nice vid, thanks! But where did you get those HRE's?
Not my car, not real HREs. They're the stock Aero wheels. The previous owner was on something.
@@KenCarTechMeow haha ok. Thanks
I’m hearing loud squeaking in my 07 9 3 when going over bumps from the rear. Could this be a full suspension replacement or just springs possibly?
T Pendleton My guess would be the strut
Does anyone have any info on a head gasket job for a 2.0T in a 2007 9-3?
What do you want to know about it?
have similar combi ( 08 xwd aero ) , needs complete suspension . excellent instruction . thankyou....... my car is awfully low.... considering installing 93x suspension.... any opinion on that? respectfully. thankyou again
The black 08 Aero XWD 6MT combi in the background is mine. Lowered to FWD specs. 9-3x suspension might be an issue. There's a weight difference between the 2.8T in your car and the 2.0T in the 9-3x. I'd talk to Matt Nicklay at esaabparts.com.
@@KenCarTechMeow how tight is the bearing when you try and move it by hand?
@@AP-bo1if There's a joke about how tight my anus is somewhere in there. The bearing shouldn't be stiff. It's something you get a feel for.
Why holding strut when jack supporting the from underneath?
The Jack is only supporting the control arm so the axle won't be pulled out. The strut at that point was held in by 3 bolts from above. Remove the 3 bolts without holding it from below and it's going to fall.
Was your suspension making a crunching noise?
Friend's suspension. Clunking when turning.
My front drivers side shock area makes a clunking noise every time I hit a bump. I push down on the car to see if it’s bouncy but it’s not at all. A mechanic told me I need to replace my shocks $1000+ at his shop. Has anyone bought the OEM complete shocks set from eeuroparts.com? They’re $500 for the front pair. Thoughts or suggestions?
Check your sway bar end links. They can also cause a clunk. Bounce that corner of the car HARD and see if you can locate the sound. Also, I like Matt at esaabparts.com. better prices and service for Saab parts.
Another SAAB Channel thanks I’ll try and locate the exact noise. I also have a coolant leak coming from the expansion tank hose and power steering leak that I haven’t found exact leak location yet. I have a feeling it’s inside where it connects to the engine. My poor SAAB. Only has 83k miles on him. 2006. 2.0T. Corona check is going to the SAAB
Neat. But when are you going to work on an actual saab?
Likely never. Buy me one.
@@KenCarTechMeow I will do you one better. You can work on mine.
Also, nice video.

Where can I get a complete strut assembly for a 2004 Saab 9-5 arc, anybody?
h
Do you know how much it will cost to get a throttle fixed in a 2007 Saab 93? Is it ok to go to a regular automotive shop to get fixed?
2.0T? 2.8T? I forget if that part requires specialized coding when it's replaced. You'd have better luck asking on SAABs of America on Facebook.
