- Traditional Scottish hornpipe, sometimes also played as a reel. Loch Leven Castle is on a small island in the loch, and is where Mary Queen of Scots was held prisoner for a time. The tune is also known as Loch Gamhna in Ireland, and is often also played as Loch Lavan Castle. Backup played on bouzouki and homemade low whistle.
Mister Gooday as an American folk singer/performer I have served up Loch Leven Castle on guitar with my (late) brother Mike on violin (fiddle) and over the years have heard many a rendition and with the advent of You Tube even more. I am rarely known for passing out praise but in viewing your performance here must tell you, Bravo good sir. I found your work here superior.
Lovely. Also known as The Humours of Tuamgreine and Toomgraney Castle.
Just learning to play it on my fiddle 🙂
Great sound and pace on this piece!
