One thing that still annoys me is the transfer market, this year is quite better than last year but still there's a lot of weird things. The first one is how the prices skyrocket after a few years to buy players, I'm playing with Bayer Leverkusen and bought Talles Magno for 6M, in about two years later he was valued 30-40M (Borussia bought him for 42M), in the same season Udinese were relegated in Série A, and Man City Bought Wirtz for 120M, so I thought "ok, I'll buy Samardzic because he plays in the same position as Wirtz and he should be quite cheap because Udinese got relegated"... They were asking 90M for him in his last year of contract, and PSG bought him for 50M a few days later. The other thing that makes me crazy is how it's almost impossible to offer a player for other player, so, on this same save with Bayer I offered Tapsoba, valued 50M for Arthur Theate from Rennes, valued 40M, Rennes (both were unhappy and wanted to leave) completely ignored my offer, asked 70M plus Tapsoba and I was like "??????" Dude, I'm offering you a better player, in the same position, my guy wants to leave, your guy wants to leave, let them freaking leave... So, yeah, I'm enjoying a lot FM24 but the transfer window it's a fucking NIGHTMARE
This sounds awesome. I skipped FM23 and haven’t played 23 in over 6 months. I loved what I heard about 24 even before this video and can’t wait to start my 1st save tomorrow
Great review of the early access game, and what an amazing experience it has been so far. The only little thing which bothers me slightly is that free kicks from dangerous positions are rarely scored whether it'd for or against. I've played 4 and a half seasons and I've only seen 2 goals from free kicks.
Dear Lord of the Loans, Saviour of the saves, Master of FM Zealand, I was hoping you could create an updated version of the player roles video you created in 2020. I'm having a hard time visualising them on the field (ie the spacethey operate in on the field on At, Su and De). I think that is something every FM player can benefit from. Really hope you could do us a favour when you have the time.
I enjoy any FM game, been playing since CM97/98 it’s finding the time to play that is the problem for me. So repetitive games don’t tend to keep me invested. The last few have felt very similar and I haven’t played much. Fm24 feels like it’s worth finding the time for. Loving it so far.
I wasn't that averse to FM 23, but I agree that after spending some time in Early Access, I don't think I'll ever look back to older FMs. And I'm glad that FM24 turns out to be great, because with Unity coming, I'm not sure if that might be the last FM I'm playing, as I can't see myself playing the game on console and don't know what my PC might have to say about FM25. This said, there's still things that drive me nuts about the engine, because as someone that used to play the game for 30 years and has been a trainer myself, there's still a lot of off the ball movements that really make me scratch my head. It's not as pronounced as it used to be and that I'm playing third league might factor into that, but there's still movements especially from the wide players that don't make any sense and would probably put those players on the bench if it happened that often in real life. It's not even that I'm experimenting with new roles or try some fancy tactics that hasn't existed for I don't know 50 years as of now, so I have not the slightest idea why the players do some of the things they do. And it certainly doesn't help that opponents have become much better at exploiting those weaknesses (even though I love to see those passes played, they look beautiful). Little rant aside, I have to admit that I'm much more focussing on those little details, because a lot of the glaring mismovements from former FMs seem to be a thing of the past. So yes, I have a lot of fun with that game, and I can easily see myself tons of hours with it (though with my team completely overperforming this season, it seems that I set myself up for a rude awakening next year ^-^).
FM 23 was shit. You couldn’t win anything on that game because a team 20th place would hammer you 3-0 if you’re top of the table and high flying, it’s fucking hot garbage: stop lying.
I've been critical of SI for certain features that have been poorly implemented so far but I do agree with every point made in this video they have done a great job on those.
Z is the reason why I got fm24. I'm having a blast playing with my hometown club. Managing the players I actually know and went to school with. I reconnected with many of them. Thx z
Wasn't going to buy the game this year because I thought it was going to be exactly like FM 23 and I am glad I bought the game during early access. First season with luton and won both cups and was thoroughly enjoying playing FM again and when I got off I wanted to play more. SI did an amazing job on this years game to make it feel fun to play again
I think Zealand hits the nail on the head when he talks about craving. Not sure what it is - probably a 'the whole is more than the sums of the part - style deal, but there's something that makes me crave playing FM24. Much more than 23 or 22. Find myself thinking about it all the time. Get angry with people as I say to myself 'why am I wasting time talking to this idiot, when I could be playing FM24. And all the little quality of life things. Chef kiss.
It's nice to know about the match engine improvements. I've been playing FM23 for the past 2 months and the amount of shots that hit the woodwork in a single match is crazy, never fails to grind my gears.
@@jd-rm4ez I also had a not so good experience. I'm certainly waiting for updates so I can play it again. And one thing that happened to me, players mutinied cause they said the squad was short. With one little detail, my team had a pregame transfer ban 🙄
It’s awesome. Continuing my Guillermo Brown save in the Argentinian second division and it is so much better. I can finally get rid of players that won’t leave and the overall improvements have just made the game time on Sundays so much better
9:15 - speaking of nerdy immersion things. For years now I've been waiting for more realistic behaviour not on the pitch but in the stands. Correct and individual spectator animations according to the match situation instead of synchronized swimming on dry land would make a monstrous difference to immersion and the match engine overall.
omg yes the final point. i used to do other things while spamming continue but on this version after 2-3 clicks its already the next game day... soo refreshing
This video might have got me back on FM. Last played pre-Covid so I have been looking at the last 2 version but found them lacking. Set pieces (with new coach for it) and JLeague might swing me. In-game play enhanced. All good stuff Then you looks fired up and I will hope weeks to come you present even more ups or downs with this version. Think it's time for me to get back but been waiting for the Right version. Next years version got so much new things with graphic that it surely will mess up and take another 2-3 years to settle. Thanks for this video and good info on FM24
@@Toniodomino95 Later date ? That's ominous. Could be anytime, even fm25 if we are unlucky. It is the hardest thing to mod when those updates in January comes out from SI, all is messed up with players moving there and from. Thanks for warning.
Everytime i played fm previously. After match - read news - praise/warn player - holiday until next game. The best thing on fm24 is I never use that holiday feature again right now. Best update is the game run very fast. Very enjoy the game this year
I play with almost every country and league in the game activated and playable, so as realistic as possible. If FM24 really is faster then I will be interested to see how it handles compared to FM23 that I am playing today
I absolutely agree with you on all points , the game processing is really fast for a fact, i play fm on my old laptop that can barely run database of 6 countries , and in fm24 the same settings but game flyes !
I can't wait to get the game this weekend! I just hope the match engine changes and the coaching changes, carry over to FM23 saves that're imported over
I played the original Championship Manager - yeahz the one eithout the licence for real players so all the player names were autogenerated at the stsrt of every game. I played every iteration of CM (including the divine CM Italia from back when foreign football was super exotic) into FM up until 2013. By then olayability had been sacrificed for detail and the graphics and speed of the game ruined it. I havent been back since other than the occasional game on FM2010, which I soon get bored of. Its great to hear that this year's game has improved in so many ways. Youre tempting me back in, which is no bad thing when both winter is about to hit and my son is now old enough to try this out.
What I like in this game is long shots, they feel maybe a bit broken but in FM23 every tactic required work ball into box to prevent anyone from trying a long shot that wasn't gonna score 90% of the time, even if they had good long shot rating, instead of passing it to your free striker.
Hmm, after FM22 and FM23 I was going to skip a year and focus on other games while awaiting the move to Unity. But you have made me reconsider. Especially because the improvements are match engine related.
This game feels so much better to watch. Like leaps and bounds in terms of quality. Also the dynamics system on Xbox seems to be more interesting than they said cause some of the choices you can make help players develop “new skills” e.g. Joao Felix developed “the Felix flick”
One thing i have noticed, is that players like Salah, Neymar, Mbappe etc etc, will actually terrorize a defence. They cut inside and curl ball into top corner. They take on players and more often than not, turn them inside out....as it should be
Honestly can't wait for SI to use Unity next year (yes I am talking about next years version without this years even being released yet), what they have achieved with this years version of FM is commendable. Once they introduce Unity, it becomes almolst limitless to what they can do with the match engine. To name a few: Matchday experience. Stadium atmospheres. Manager camera angle: This in itself can introduce to immersive experiences for the player, including bench animations yours and the oppositions. Throwing shade at the fourth official, because why not. Telling Klopp to sit still or tell Pep that without Haaland he's nothing (Haaland need nerfing just for the sake of my sanity. Although I am aware this is only a "simulation" game, I strongly believe this game can rival the FIFA's of the world or EA FC whatever its called nowadays.
@@ChaoPakKei It's exactly what happened, I was big into playing career mode on FIFA, but since picking my first FM, it completely changed my outlook on football video games.
@@mavisu0 Very good point, however I've played FIFA long enough to put up with players not looking like their real life counterpart. And when they started getting these licenses for players, I thought og it as a nice touch more than anything, but that personal preference I suppose.
I'm enjoying the libero in the middle of a back 3 much more as well. It seems to work so much better even its traditional position in addition to being able to use it in a back 4.
The fact that you emphasised the ball going a certain way and the player actually looking like they moved correctly for that to happen is crazy in 2023. Just shows how desperately behind the graphics engine is and has been and just how much we need Unity.
Can't wait for the full release and my journey with Roda JC in the dutch second division! However, don't trust your set piece coach unconditionally. I let my spc (set piece coach) do everything and assign all of the roles. This made me RB go up and take the offensive throw in on the left side. Of course he messed it up and they managed to counter on the side where he was suppose to be.. I took control and made sure he didn't take any thrown ins on the left side. And no, he is just a right back and can't play on the left which could have been an explanation.
The playing time is REALLY noticeable on bullshit loaded databases. For context, I'm continuing an "Hexagon Hard Mode" save from FM23 on FM24 (save game compatibility is the biggest feature imho) and that save has at least one active league from every country. Processing a week on those conditions was taxing for FM23 (way heavier than FM17 and 21, my previous Hexagons starting points), come FM24 and it's around 3 times faster, give or take. Easilly the most noticeable feature for me!
someone who has played fm16 on steam every year, I 100% agree with all the points Z, Will say at someone point deflections may get to a point that they will annoy us but rather this then what we had previously. If they (SI) can get on top of the player interactions (some of the bugs in the beta with promises etc) This will be the best FM ive played (till fm 25 which will be nuts).
There’s a bug with defending corners where a player with stay on edge of the area doesn’t do that and tries to man mark, happens to me a lot, quite annoying. The rest about set pieces is fantastic.
Except they completely lied about having "full J league license" and their new finance mechanics put clubs like Hertha and Schalke in administration within a week of a new save. Both clubs are very much NOT in administration IRL right now. (In no small part because they almost doubled Schalke's actual debt in these last years btw)
Hi david mate , really apreciate your uploads and cant wait untill midnight , quick queston , iif we can continue a 23 save to 24 , surely we could do 24 to 25 , everyone sais about the unity engine , but goddammit im not waiting i year , i need my fm fix
It being used to create cartoonish games doesn't mean it can be used to creat realistic games, yes the game is not going to look like fifa, but the animations and graphics are going to be waaaay better. Let's not forget that current FM looks like a 2005 game, if with Unity it ends up looking like a 2015 game that's a great leap.
I agree on every point, just the injuries are killing me. Maybe its more realistic but imho its taking a bit of the fun away never being able to play with your best 11
The goalkeeper animations leave a little to be desired at times, and the players all want new contracts constantly or complaining about something. Overall though much better than 23 Wondering how much the full release will change the ME though
I like the game but one thing that needs a major re-do is the transfer values of players, at least in the prem. It makes no sense that Bournemouth have several €70m players. And it makes even less sense that I could theoretically sell them to saudi for 100m or more. it just makes the game too easy if you are in a premier league club.
Sorry, can't talk about the early access Fm because I'm currently enrolled in Baldur's Gate 3 and I don't get much time to play, but once I grow a bit tired og BG3, I'll get this new FM
Does it actually make a difference watching the game or just having it on 2D? is it not pre-determined by all done before it and half time talks etc? Cheers, Keep up the good work.
My favorite thing so far is prolly small for others but I always play small leagues and nation build and I’ve been getting emails on wether league signs new tv deals and the money involved

I've played 4 and a half seasons and I've only seen 2 goals from free kicks.
Dear Lord of the Loans, Saviour of the saves, Master of FM Zealand,
I was hoping you could create an updated version of the player roles video you created in 2020. I'm having a hard time visualising them on the field (ie the spacethey operate in on the field on At, Su and De). I think that is something every FM player can benefit from. Really hope you could do us a favour when you have the time.
As someone still playing FM20, it seems like its a actually time for an upgrade
Yeah, I'm still playing FM20 myself. Actually, I loaded up my old FM2010 save a few weeks ago and have been having a blast with it!
That's great news as I only buy FM every second year and this year I'm buying it but first have a new laptop on the way!
Nice Geylang International Football Club jersey. Thanks for supporting Singapore football!
I'm still wondering how he got it haha 😂
I love the fact that now Keppers can get injured in the match.
They could before its not new
@@jondoe-qi3vo Not really, they were almost never injured during the match. I haven't seen it at least in the last few versions.
Having fm2015 be my first FM the game has changed so much since back then and I'm all for it
I've been critical of SI for certain features that have been poorly implemented so far but I do agree with every point made in this video they have done a great job on those.
The number of times goals would be chalked off for offside also seemed a bit excessive, certainly in my save.
It’s great that you’re wearing a Singaporean football team, Geylang International jersey. ❤👍🏻
This video might have got me back on FM. Last played pre-Covid so I have been looking at the last 2 version but found them lacking.
Set pieces (with new coach for it) and JLeague might swing me. In-game play enhanced. All good stuff
Then you looks fired up and I will hope weeks to come you present even more ups or downs with this version. Think it's time for me to get back but been waiting for the Right version. Next years version got so much new things with graphic that it surely will mess up and take another 2-3 years to settle.
Thanks for this video and good info on FM24
Welp, apparently they've bungled the JLeague stuff and aren't adding it until a later date, so just a heads up there.
@@Toniodomino95 Later date ? That's ominous. Could be anytime, even fm25 if we are unlucky. It is the hardest thing to mod when those updates in January comes out from SI, all is messed up with players moving there and from. Thanks for warning.
one of the best updates for me is players not missing an open goal anymore because they want to take the longest to shoot
Fr, they shoot at an open goal like passing a ball to a 9 year-old for me
gotta say, normally i skip most of your intro's but this one was really funny
Everytime i played fm previously. After match - read news - praise/warn player - holiday until next game.
The best thing on fm24 is I never use that holiday feature again right now. Best update is the game run very fast. Very enjoy the game this year
Ahh youre wearing the Geylang International FC jersey, a club based in the Singapore Premier League (SPL). Nice shoutout
Thank you! Was trying to pause and see it
I play with almost every country and league in the game activated and playable, so as realistic as possible.
If anything I think I have the opposite this year. I have a bunch of players with 9-12 long shots who just bang them in for fun.
Hmm, after FM22 and FM23 I was going to skip a year and focus on other games while awaiting the move to Unity. But you have made me reconsider. Especially because the improvements are match engine related.
I can’t wait to get FM 24, I feel is the most significant Fm ever made.
Aw mate, you missed a cracking opportunity at the start to say, "Here's a word from today's sponsor. Sports Interactive".
I love it. I loved FM23 too, but the match engine changes alone this year are worth the money. I’ve already started my long term save at Chester
This game feels so much better to watch. Like leaps and bounds in terms of quality. Also the dynamics system on Xbox seems to be more interesting than they said cause some of the choices you can make help players develop “new skills” e.g. Joao Felix developed “the Felix flick”
Early access has been great game fees smoother and just generally better
So excited for fm25, its gonna be crazy
i really enjoyed signing poull kallsberg from a faroese club in fm23.. excited for fm24
One thing i have noticed, is that players like Salah, Neymar, Mbappe etc etc, will actually terrorize a defence. They cut inside and curl ball into top corner. They take on players and more often than not, turn them inside out....as it should be
Big Z. You are without a doubt one of the most entertaining YT creators out there.
Honestly can't wait for SI to use Unity next year (yes I am talking about next years version without this years even being released yet), what they have achieved with this years version of FM is commendable. Once they introduce Unity, it becomes almolst limitless to what they can do with the match engine. To name a few:
Matchday experience.
The issue is with player licences - if you'd had Fifa-like graphics but no licences most of the players would have to look differently
"I'm a ball bender, wait."
I'd like some of your services, Zealand.
I'm enjoying the libero in the middle of a back 3 much more as well. It seems to work so much better even its traditional position in addition to being able to use it in a back 4.
Fm23 was my first one. Ive played it for over 2000 hours. I prepurchased fm24
Cool to see somebody rocking a Geylang kit!
Gonna be a good year zeeland
Will watch all of ur streams from portugal ❤
The playing time is REALLY noticeable on bullshit loaded databases. For context, I'm continuing an "Hexagon Hard Mode" save from FM23 on FM24 (save game compatibility is the biggest feature imho) and that save has at least one active league from every country. Processing a week on those conditions was taxing for FM23 (way heavier than FM17 and 21, my previous Hexagons starting points), come FM24 and it's around 3 times faster, give or take. Easilly the most noticeable feature for me!
I never play the beta, just watch all the videos that emerge and get excited for it and, based on what I've seen, I'm more hyped than normal
Look forward to it mate, I’m lucky enough to have it and it’s a big improvement
I got a beast of a pc but theres just something abou the 2D view that makes me use it often. My first fm was the 2004 version.
Zealand wearing Geylang International kit 🇸🇬
someone who has played fm16 on steam every year, I 100% agree with all the points Z, Will say at someone point deflections may get to a point that they will annoy us but rather this then what we had previously. If they (SI) can get on top of the player interactions (some of the bugs in the beta with promises etc) This will be the best FM ive played (till fm 25 which will be nuts).
Totally agree with Zealand. Having played FM for many, many years, '24 is a huge step forward. So much more enjoyable.
Love FM2024, having a blast so far. Huge improvement from 2023
Nishimura absolutely bagging the goals.
Will there be a zealand skin this year?
No plans at the moment
@@WelshSscouserwho asked you. Pipe down
There’s a bug with defending corners where a player with stay on edge of the area doesn’t do that and tries to man mark, happens to me a lot, quite annoying. The rest about set pieces is fantastic.
the new roles have broken my brain too, I'm on the struggle bus this game but having tons of fun.
Except they completely lied about having "full J league license" and their new finance mechanics put clubs like Hertha and Schalke in administration within a week of a new save. Both clubs are very much NOT in administration IRL right now. (In no small part because they almost doubled Schalke's actual debt in these last years btw)
It would be useful to have a video for new players showing how players with different roles move
Absolutely been full in on it, it’s hard to not want to be playing it.
frank lampard scored 192 of his 193 goals via deflections, so it’s good they’ve added this.
I had a GK injured in match for the first time ever
same here
Hi david mate , really apreciate your uploads and cant wait untill midnight , quick queston , iif we can continue a 23 save to 24 , surely we could do 24 to 25 , everyone sais about the unity engine , but goddammit im not waiting i year , i need my fm fix
Great video, I am loving fm 24 early access
I'm really hyped about going to Unity in FM25, it's going to be amazing!
12:50 gonna start calling ramen Oodles of Noodles again 🫡
I put 50 hours in the early access, really great improvements over 23
I agree on every point, just the injuries are killing me. Maybe its more realistic but imho its taking a bit of the fun away never being able to play with your best 11
I like being forced to play someone else and seeing them turn into an unexpected gem
The goalkeeper animations leave a little to be desired at times, and the players all want new contracts constantly or complaining about something. Overall though much better than 23
Wondering how much the full release will change the ME though
Funnily just had my first choice central defender beg for a new contract at 12k per week less than what he was on.
It sounds so weird how you pronounce Libero lmao. The accent is in the first syllabe. Great analysis!
Fell out of fm23 and wasn't planning to get gm24 but damn now I'm tempted. Still need to wait and see the actual reaction before buying it though
Cheers, Keep up the good work.
is it worth to buy when youre relatively short on money or should i wait for 25 and keep playing 23?
My favorite thing so far is prolly small for others but I always play small leagues and nation build and I’ve been getting emails on wether league signs new tv deals and the money involved
This is the best FM I remember playing since 2012. But it makes me think could they have done this sooner? I mean it's a nice way to end it. FM24 best ever FM on the old engine, but I feel this could have been achieved in FM21 or 22.
But rant over, I will enjoy this last version of this engine.
I know FM25 will be great, but think it will take until 27 or 28 to start getting a true reflection of the direction they want to go.
I had a Welsh youth player being called up by Nigeria U19s despite not having Nigerian Ancestry. Top notch game
Might finally do a watch all 90 mins save
