I brought my Ampero II stage about a month ago. Awesome gear at a great price.
Got the Ampero Mini in Vanilla. Love it. The amp and cab sims soung great to me.
Have had the OG Ampero for about 5 years now. Did and still do overseas or international gigs/tours with it and it holds up.
Necessary to couple it with a good poweramp to use it with a cab and it never let me down.
Maybe one day I will upgrade, but I’m happy with the old boy
Can you just use a traditional head as the power amp into the amp's FX return?
@@jaialaiwarrior yessir
I've had the Stage II since right when it came out and it's excellent. I have a PRS Custom Piezo and go into Both Inputs to get really creative.
Besides sounding good, I appreciate the Mic ability on the unit, the Looper AND Drum Machine. The Stage II really offers the Kitchen Sink
I wish someone would do a video for the Mic/Guitar
@@bennyhill1105 I have the stage and use it for guitar and mic. Mic sounds great
I like my ampero mini ! I sometimes use it for cleans, but I now primarily use it as a multi-effect, or as my amp when I go on vacation
I like Mine too. It's Very usefull to insert any effect at the pedalboard (guitar and also Bass).
The Ampero Stomp II has just had a firmware upgrade so the unit now offers scenes (Same as the Stage but not as many)
Hotone has also drastically altered the GUI.
I'm not sure whether that's an improvement or not as I have yet to go through the Firmware update. (They always make me nervous)
I will say that I bought and sold the full fat Helix twice before finally deciding that the Stomp II was much easier to drive at a fraction of the cost...
The stage 2 is the first multi effect unit that don’t make me think “ill just take my pedalboard because it’s easier” I love it so far
My understanding before watching the video based on my research:
Stomp mini - basically a regular Hotone Ampero in the formfactor of shrinked Ampero Stomp.
Ampero Stomp - top of the Ampero current lineup in terms of sound. Better (than regular Ampero and Stomp mini) modeling, better IR etc.
Ampero Stage - basically Ampero Stomp with extended IO, more knobs etc.
Stage has scenes, wireless capabilities, a drum machine and some added on vocal effects
@@gabrielrangel956 but no more DSP and the cab suite is not as tweakable as the line 6 stomp
@@user-se3xq6zb1u it has much more DSP than the HX Stomp tho and the cab problem can be easily fixed by using an IR. For me, the biggest advantage the HX Stomp has over the Ampero Stage/Stomp are the pitch/octave/harmony effects
Scenes and the drum machine have been added to the Ampero Stomp as of the lastest patch, which was last week
The video we have been waiting for. Thank you!
My ampero stomp 2 sounds amazing and has me playing more guitar in general.
I get by without scenes. It's the best bang for your buck full stop.
I wonder if you set the 1st preset identically in all 3 devices, THEN, what would the difference be!? Using the exact same effects, settings, and amp, etc.
got a mini from Thomann for 160 on a sale a couple of months ago. for this price it is unbeatable
Awesome presentation , entertaining , informative and amusing
HP, excellent video…as always. I enjoy the super detailed comparison. If the opportunity should ever present itself, I’d love to know your thoughts on the Valeton GP-200. I believe the software and/or sounds are licensed from Hotone.
I just got the Mini over the weekend to try out. For $170 from AliExpress, why not. Had the Mooer (hated it), Nux MG30 (too much shit to edit), Zoom G6 (too cumbersome) and G2x Four (not great and limited DSP and effects).
I'm hoping I don't continue the string of gear that I keep flipping. I am curious about the Stage version.
This was a great video ✨🙏🏼🤘🏼
Ampero Mini sounds great in a low-power, intuitive, small form-factor pedal. I use a Xsonic AirSTEP (USB MIDI host) and an expression pedal for full control.
Very tasty riffs in the outro song. Nice video. I just wished you tested more the dynamic of the volume with some crunch gain settings. How it cleans out in lower volumes. This is the thing that for me differentiate good modellers from bad ones.
for violin the ampero mini effects, octave, chorus, delay, repeat and equalizer are good?
I got the 2 stomp for over a year and i love it. I‘ve tried the hx Stomp but the ui is an absolute nightmare ✌🏼
I own the OG Ampero since a few years and Hotone did a great job (albeit a bit slow) to push updates (feature added + new amps etc). The sound quality is still really good with a good IR of your choice. The cab modeling is not as good as the Ampero Gen 2 but remains ok. Running the Ampero into a good power amp make it sound pretty close to the real deal. I did quite a bit of AB tests with Synergy (Friedman, SLO, Engl, IIcp) and other DIY tube preamps (Bogner XTC) and the Amperon sounds 99% there (albeit with slightly different EQ settings than the original amp). Biggest drawback: the presets are way to wet. My advice for this unit are 1. Load a couple of IR that you like. Adapt the Global EQ if needed. 2. Don't use the presets, start from a simple Amp + Cab/IR setup and add FX progressivelly. (This applies to most modelers by the way...)
Except for the IR stuff, this is the same advice I got for every multi fx since my zoom 3030. EVERY manufacturer go for wow tones rather than useable I guess.

Hi
Super Video🤘👍🎸
Richtig cool. 👍🤘🎸
Hi, Great video, thanks!
Thomann now sell the silver addition of the Ampero for 179 Euro. Would you say it is a good alternative to the mini, for those of us on a limited budget?
same thing as the mini, but bigger
Mini doesnt have on/off switch. For me that is a big difference :) Really.
Somewhere I read it has like 6-7ms latency and it stooped me from buying it.
@@john_enx not true. Buy the bigger one - its a bargain
Until this video I was confused why they would still sell the old one but seeing the size in this video in comparison, it makes me wonder what it's like as just an effects modeller if you don't need amp modelling? It seems like a great form factor and price for that kind of thing if the effects sound good.
The cheapo/old one comes in 70th anniversary edition for 179 WITH foot thingy.
I would've loved to buy an Ampero Mini, but at the price Thomann is offering the 70th Aniversary Ampero Silver I just had to buy two. One for gigs and one for practicing at home. Both together are still cheaper than the Zoom G9.2tt I bought 15 years ago. Too bad the Line 6 Pod is still stuck in 2007 with no update.
Different processor n stage best one if comparison with my Hotone Ampero One
I dont know with other models but I have the mini and what I don’t like about it is if you want to use it just a multi-fx and let’s say it’s bypassed or not engaged, the clean signal is kinda slightly tweaked EQ wise, going thru this unit makes the low end of your clean signal lesser. It’s not transparent when bypassed. It’s not drastic but it’s a thing to consider.
How are you bypassing? Tuner in bypass mode is a clean bypass, right?
@@joebowbeer i turn off everything, cabs, amps, fx, everything inside the ampero mini.
@@CharLessMajor7Music AFAICT, Tuner in Bypass mode is clean.
@@joebowbeer yea but in live scenario where your ampero mini is on stand by for modulation fx use, putting it on tuner mode isn’t proper for fx switching. Anyway, it’s going to be clean but there is a slight low frequency scoop that I’m hearing as soon as you plug anything to ampero mini.
26:30 We should do a blind test to clear that up.
I had the first AMpero (80?) here and found it too boxy sounding, Had the Ampero Stomp here, liked it but without external IRs i found it to brittle in many ways. The new Ampero Stage: that is a whole different thing, great sounds from the get go. And they are even getting better using External IRs (or the included Celestion ones). Not to mention the Layout and usability which is a dream. The Stage will stay with me for the next years for sure! Needed to go (back) was for example NUX MG30 + 400, NUX Trident (worst i've ever heard!), ToneX, Flamma FX200, Valeton GP200, Kemper Player, Boss GX100, Boss GT1000, Headrush Gigboard + Prime and so on and on.................................
Hello having thoughts on whether to buy the ampero mini, nux mg-30 or valeton gp-200. Which do you think is best considering that I'm going to build on it with external drives and that i only care most for the sound quality?
@@davidjeremiahb.salvacion1360 Invest in the Ampero Stage! If not take the GP200.
Kannst du sagen wie gut das stage II für Bass ist?
I assume you can ditch the amps so you can use it as a mini multi-effects unit, which is how I am thinking of using this.
That's how I use it. One Tonex into the input. A second Tonex into the F/X return. Totally independent F/X chains. Enjoy.
Well after today's major update it looks like this topic will have to be Revisited already❤😂
PLEASE BE AWARE BEFORE BUYING A HOTONE AMPERO II STAGE:
1. MIDI OUT is not working (yet). I contacted Hotone about this but they can't confirm if this 'feature' will be fixed anywhere in 2024.
2. You cannot RENAME Scenes to 'Intro', 'Chorus' etc. It will just be 'Scene 1', 'Scene 2', etc.
Just so you know.
Thanks for your videos Henning 👌🏻👌🏻
WHAT? If MIDI Out (Thru) does not work, that is a major flaw). It does work on my Ampero II Stomp.
@@markdouglas8073 Actually, MIDI Thru does work. I’m referring to sending MIDI CC to other pedals, which you can’t. So it’s Thru only (even though the MIDI port says it’s Out / Thru)
Aand, I'll stick with the Stomp as I have external pre-amp/drive pedals before it and alternative external delays in the loops and afterwards.
Pedalboard real estate is expensive.
Real question…..would you go out on stage with this unit? If you are touring would you consider this as your main unit???
Not at all.
Ive gigged with the mini and had zero issues. Sounded great stereo out to 2 amps , plenty of head room
I got my Ampero Mini from star music in France. 199 and free shipping to Germany, or maybe 5€ shipping, I'm not sure. But definitely cheaper than Thomam and all colors available.
How is the latency on these things. I have had a Headrush MX-5 once and the latency was terrible.
Oof... Really? I heard other things about them having issues.
@@joellebrodeur1015I have had more of those amp modelers. They all sound thin over studio-speakers or do have a terrible latency.
Gentlemen, I need your opinions. I have ampero one, it works well for me. But... Should I upgrade to next generation of ampero?
i would love if you do a review about the St. Rock Amperium .... please please please :)
tell them that
@@EytschPi42 i did but nothing happens 😮💨
No cab mode is not on the helix but... It had extensive outputs and you can just turn the cab off anyway :)
Nice vid. But.. It would've made more sense choosing the "same" sound for comparison between the models instead of just the first preset. Instead of showing the first sound you're presented with... unless they were the same?😮 Whatever. Great video. Thanks
5:19 I’m also externally triggered . What a wonderful world for guitarists.
The left one is the best one.
clearly!
Facts!
The ii Stage sounds better to me too
I need the Stage to replace my RP360XP. Here's my address .....
Hotone abandoned it's Stomp II customers by not providing a simple software update feature for it to do scenes. The unit is totally hardware capable of scenes which would make it so much more functional. They keep pushing minor updates of new amps etc but not the most important one ( scenes). Online groups show a lot of people unhappy about it . I personally think people should refrain from buying the stage to send a message they'll actually understand.
I don’t unterstand why people are mad about this if they Never talked about wether they will update this or not. If you‘re unhappy with a product then don’t buy it if it’s not included. I don’t buy a car and whine about my car not having a Feature another car already has…
@@allboutthemojoOR . . . buy the Stage?
@@whazpoppinentitlement culture. It’s sadly spreading like a virus
It’s true. A good number of the people who bought it have decided to bite the bullet and move on to other more mature platforms like the HX Stomp.
@@allboutthemojo 🤣🤣
Is it me or do you sound different in this video?
The best is the one from Neural-DSP 🤪😇
So?
@@user-pk4kb8bx9g So, that’s the best Ampero.
Flanger Things 😅
As I posted on the A2Stage review, Hotone has a major problem with their terrible support. They promise a lot of features on future updates. Those "future updates" were never delivered. Ampero II Stomp are waiting for scenes and gapless transitions effects for more than an year now. The terrible stomp mode switch that terrifies everybody that use the unit to play live are also a promised fix.
Both Ampero 2 units share the same DSP power but Hotone support was really bad and never delivered what is being promised.
One thing I learned in life: If the price is mentioned more than once, the gear will not be satisfying more than a few weeks.
Why no bloody VST included oh ffs!!!
No WDM Drriver????? Jesus
The foot switches are too close together !!!! Pedal builders stop doing this.
or just have smaller feet?
@@EytschPi42foot binding wrap patterns available upon request.
Shrink your feet to convenient bite sized bundles.
⚠️Ability to walk without assistance may be compromised
I feel the same way. Id like to remove 2nd and 4th button to use only 1 3 5
Wear cowboy boots...
They all have unacceptable latency so none of them.
If you use IR instead of cab sim, latency won't matter.
Wow............................. i honestly don't feel any Latency on the Ampero Stage!
Can you not stand any latency? From testing I seen on that wee Italian chap's channel, the Stage compares really well to the best out there
As there appear more and more great preamps on the market it would be cool more pure multi-effect units without amp modelling would be available....with stereo INS.And outs , stereo fx loops etc... like the Hx effects
