It's a very compelling product. From what I've watched and listened to, it's really close in overall capture to the original. In a mix, the vast majority of use wouldn't be able to blind AB test this with any consistancy. And the general audience certainly wouldn't be able to tell. Its clear competition is the Headrush Flex Prime which is similar in size and general overall functionality including the profiling.

Hey Leo I'm so thankful for your channel..... It's helped me a lot. Btw I have questions Which one is better ampero 2 stage or ampero 2 ? I'm a singer and bass player and sometimes I play solo gig acoustic guitar and sing (I used looper too)
Thank you so much for such amazing compliant that makes me happy! I would prefer the Stage as it has more foot switches and in the case of need, I can add an external expression pedal. Thanks!
Pretty impressive feature set and Profiling is a powerful one. Regarding the design, I wish the Volume/Control Pedal was detachable so it could be on the floor while the part with all the knobs and buttons could sit on a desk. I saw some interesting news regarding "NearLink" technology and latency. "Huawei's short-range wireless technology has a latency that's 1/30th of traditional wireless technologies, including Bluetooth. It also offers a data transmission speed that's six times faster than traditional wireless technologies." Maybe that tech will make its way to Modelers some day.
Thank you Leo; it was a great review. I have two questions about vocal part: - can I add vocal harmony? - can vocal harmony be controlled with guitar as it is in TCHelicon Harmony Singer or other vocal harmony processors. Thank you, Greetings from LA😊
That thing just sounds great! I honestly think Ampero have done a very good job with this generation of devices. I wonder if they would consider unifying all those units in one piece of software with all the features, taking the Stomp II, Stage and Ampero II with just one software. Have you ever asked them this Leo? Thanks for the video as always!
I have not done that exact question...but with another question they told me that maybe there are gonna be software procedure for profiling...maybe....
@LeoGibsonGtr yes I don't need a computer! I'm a touring musician and for me is important less as possible equipment on the fly. I'm happy that there is a tool I can use without a computer.
If it has the same beta software that's on the ampero 2 stage, you should be able to change the names of the scenes. You just need to go into the section where you save the patch. There you'll have the patch name, but you can switch to your scene names and edit the name and press save
If you want, here you have more info: Ampero Profiling Q&A: What unit can create profile? What unit can load profile? When? ua-cam.com/video/rHmHGsIeM8I/v-deo.html
@@LeoGibsonGtr I also think a good pitsh shifter with low latency is worth gold. It's the only pedal I need separately with my Ampero 1 because the one in there is basically useless. If you have the time and could compare it to the one from the BOSS GX 10 or GX 100 I would be really interested!
Hello! Is it possible to switch off the IRs just on jack output and be on the XLRs? So one signal can go to the amp (jack Out) and the XLRs with IRs to the FOH, for example. If so, that would be a game changer, to me at least. Great reviews!
Sir leo, as always you have been doing the best reviews of pedals and hope you will continue doing so for a long time. I'm interested in hotone ampero 2 but as it i not available here in India and im in need for a pedal ASAP so my choice are mooer ge300 lite and hotone ampero 2 stomp can you give me some advice which one should i go for Thank you for your hard work ❤❤
Great review as always, Leo. But I believe that there was a little mistake about the dimensions. If those numbers are in millimeters, They're probably height and width, not depth and width as displayed. 6cm deep seems too few, IDK. 🤷🏽♂️ I'm looking forward for the latency numbers with catches I suppose that that general latency will be similar to the Stage, but I'd suppose that the catch will be a bit more, like happened with Headrush. If not, the Ampero will hit the market as an earthquake.
Thank you so much, I'm really happy that you appreciate the vides!!! I have to check out the dimension... Yes, I'm also curious about latency...but I would wait the final firmware... Thanks!
@@LeoGibsonGtrAwesome videos and playing. In regards to the latency, I’m always very curious about how the gap between preset to preset changing is without having to worry about setting up scenes or snapshots, because I’m a player who loves to play with a lot of preset switching rather than being stuck with simply turning off and on individual fx pedals. I’m curious if the Ampero units preset switching latency is anywhere close to the preset switching gap of the Headrush units. If it is similar in switching time then I can probably use the unit the way I would like to in a live performance setting.
what is the main difference to the ampero 2 stage? the pedal, a few switches and bluetooth? but in terms of modelling and profiling, and also in terms of signal chain and effects it's the same, isn't it? because i have just ordered the ampero 2 stage to see if it can replace my kemper player.. Especially the usability without needing a phone or a pc is nice.
The Moon Tone Capture with the GE lab app works only on the mobile devices, and therefore you need to use a specific audio interface....that's why I cannot compare. Thanks!
In short: Stage have 7 switches and bluetooth connection, and A2 have 4 switches and exp pedal. Soundwise and the rest of the things, they are the same.
Thank you! Yes, I would also like to create some profiles for this platform. In terms of effects, it is very hard to provide "black" or "white" opinion, as it is very personal. I typically get used to what I have....instinctively (nothing scientific) I slightly prefer Fractal, BOSS and Kemper effects...but as I said, take it with a grain of salt. Thank you!
Thank you, Leo, excellent interpretation and comments as always. I just have one question: could you clarify the price of the HOTONE AMPERO 2? Thanks a lot!
It really needs to be compared with the HeadRush Core they are very similar and just about the same price which one is better? Great review as always Leo thanks.
Thank you, I'm happy that you appreciate the video! Unfortunately I don't have the core....and I honestly don't plan to get one (for instance the cab sim is pretty poor, it misses a computer app, ...)....therefore unless Headrush sends me a unit...I'm not sure if I will be able to make such a comparison. Thank you!
@@LeoGibsonGtr I had the valeton gp200 for many months and I enjoyed it at its price point but I sold it and I got the HeadRush core for the extra added features I'm very happy with it however I would consider getting this Amparo 2 I highly value your opinions and thoughts on all the pedals you review.
Thanks for review, Leo! Is it me, or did ampero 2 sounded slightly wobbly on longer, sustained chords? Also how does it perform on lower tunings, heard some comments that the modeling quality decreased on lower or dropped tunings? Thanks.
You are welcome! I didn't experienced problems with a dropped D....but I don't use super distorted sounds....so, I'm not sure if I'm the right person for that kind of tests. Thanks!
Hi Leo. I just received my new Ampero II and the Tone Catch feature is missing completely. Any idea what's happening? Did yours have it from factory? Do I need to update anything? There is no new firmware update for it on the website. The Beta feature that works on the Stage isn't compatible with this, so I am unable to use that. Not sure what to do.
Leo is there any gap or slight delay when you turn on and off effects with the footswitch?I have the Ampero Mini and i have a slight gap when switching effects on and off!Maybe Hotone can fix this in a firmware update?
It will be possible with the new computer app...as the capture procedure is still in beta, I guess that also the computer app is gonna be updated. Thanks
Hi, really hard to tell...I should do a direct comparison to answer...but if you profile an amp and you use the same setting of the real amp...it's hard for a pure modeller to compete...in my opinion. Thanks
Does the gapless switching work with different amps? Let's say i wanted to play a song with a clean part, rythm part and lead part, would i be able to create scenes with three different amps or is the gapless switching limited to effects and amp settings?
Hi, I should make a direct comparison to answer properly. Of course, if you want a super faithful recreation of the real amp...profiling is hard to beat. Thank you!
You mean in terms of sounds? they are the same. You can choose one or the other just according to physical characteristics of the 2 units...for instance number of foot switches, expression pedal...etc. Thanks
@@LeoGibsonGtr yeah thats what i mean, basically they are the same unit but the stage got more options. im looking for a modeler that can capture my amp/drive sounds, with a few footswitches, good routing options and enough DSP, i think im gone go for the stage
as for Dynamic Range, i reckon this is one of the most Important aspects. With Amplitube i feel i lose a lot of sensitivity, specially when trying to use the Volume pot on the guitar to control Gain, between clean , edge of breakUp, and crunch. Plus i feel i lose the high freqs , despite the treble bleed circuit on my guitar. How do you feel on this matter, with Hotone ? thanks again
It is just stage and stomp in other hardware enclosure. Tone catch fw will arrive to stage and stomp a bit later Except number of fs and exp pedal and several in / outs units are exactly the same.
The computer app is not yet updated, and I'm not able to download my profiles....I'm thinking about a package of amps and pedals profiles to sell (with a fair price...don't worry). Thank you!
Looking to me like the Ampero Stage II plus an expression pedal is a stronger alternative to this unit. This is a very nice unit however. Your thoughts?
I would agree with you. But of course it all depends from the form factor you need...I mean 4 foot sw + exp pedal --> Ampero 2 (saving some money). More foot sw, without exp pedal --> Stage.
Should I be getting this unit or the Stage version? As a hobbyist who only plays in bedroom, I do not have any quality amp I would like to profile. I just want to download/purchase amp profiles from others. Now I'm split among the Hotone Ampero 2, 2 Stage, ToneX, or even the Boss GX10. They are all in similar price range in my country, with the exception of Ampero 2 Stage is a lot more $.
The Ampero 2 and the Stage are equal in terms of tone, they differ in terms of "physical" aspect. Therefore just take into consideration your budget and if you need the more fnotswitcehs of the stage.....at least in my opinion Thanks!
Grazie
I'd like to see a comparison with the modeling pedals from UAFX (Deluxe Reverb, AC30, etc.) I'd like to compare the two to see/hear which modeling algorithm is closer to the real thing
@LeoGibsonGtr thank you! I've been looking for a modeler that can do two amps at the same time. I always like to blend the sound of a Fender amp with a VOX and I've been searching for an affordable solution (and less messy since I've also tried the UAFX pedals together) and perhaps the Ampero II can do this? What do you think? I'd imagine the DSP will run out of space in no time, haha. The HX Stomp for sure did when I tried it.
3 questions: 1) how it compares to the ampero 2 stage... i like more the switching a more options. 2) Midi over usb? 3) Seamless patch change or scenes?
This ampero seems to be the what I've been looking for. Patiently waiting how the beta version improves and what the latency will be with this unit. Leo question, it seems that the capture fuction on the ampero corresponds the same the way the kemper is caturing? I hear about the Kemper that they sometimes have a margin of error in accurate amp capturing. and that the process sometimes has to be repeated to achieve a good result. I have also read some reviews were some people talk about the ampero units generate a high pitch noise. Have you also experienced this?
Hi, yes, the Ampero profiling procedure is very similar to the Kemper one (there is a video in my channel that you can check out). And yes, in both processes you have to play some chords to refine the capture, and this is where the inconsistency comes from...because the same capture with two different refining procedures sound different. That's why I prefer the ToneX, NAM or Cortex profiling procedure...as the chords are predefined and played by the profiler itself. Nonetheless, the profiles coming out from the Ampero are still nice....as the ones coming out from the Kemper. Thanks!
@@iacopomosca5282 hard one to be honest, if you don’t need the effects and the I/O go for the cortex, it’s cheaper, smaller and the sounds are great and you don’t have to mess with dsp overload
The Stage has three more switches. So you have 5 scenes instead of 4 plus you have the two switches to switch patches and other functions. The Ampero two you loose those switches plus a 100 bucks for the Exp pedal. Me Im getting the Stage I have an expression pedal already I just add. Id rather have that extra functionality.
it doesnt appear to be any less than the Stage, the only thing i see is one more 1/4 input on back and its $100 less than the stage, do you know the differences?
I mean the digitech or pitch shift of ampero ii Coz the original ampero has really obvious latency , just wondering for ampero 2. Just ordered one hopefully it will come soon 😊 thank you
This device has a problem - competition. The device went on sale this week, in the same time with Boss Gx-10 ( with price 400 EUR), and Mooer GE 200 Pro (360 EUR). We could take in acount also Mooer Ge1000 (price 470 EUR), what is few months older. So the Hotone Ampero 2 with 600 EURO price tag is overpriced. It costs even more than Line 6 POD Go and Boss Ge-100..... And 600 Euro is just 100EUR less then Ampero STAGE (what has more finctionality for live gigs). Even if the devices are a bit different, there are not so much things that coud cost + 30-40% price for Ampero. The Mooer Ge200pro does not have touchscreen. However GE1000 has a lot of more features than Ampero (and costs signivfcantly less). The Boss does not have drum machine, there is one knob less, and no XLR and MIDI ports, but I doubt that few ports and drum option costs +200 Euros. So Ampero 2 is overpriced (and Boss is underpriced here).
Hi, I don't have the Core, therefore I can't judge from direct experience...even if I can say that I'm not a fan of Headrush units.... for instance the missing computer app and the poor cabinet simulation are kind of deal breaker for me.... Thanks

Pretty interesting info...thank you so much for sharing!!!
Amazing tone Leo! Are the Suhrs your favourite?
Thank you so much!!!
Yes, they are!
Loved the demo song, catchy!
Thank you so much....when you like my music...I'm super happy!!!
Hey Leo, great video as always.. i heard Ampero II stomp can do the tone catch after an update.. can you do a video on that as well?
Thank you so much!!!
I have asked Hotone, and here you have the answers: ua-cam.com/video/rHmHGsIeM8I/v-deo.html
Thank you Leo; it was a great review.
I have two questions about vocal part:
- can I add vocal harmony?
- can vocal harmony be controlled with guitar as it is in TCHelicon Harmony Singer or other vocal harmony processors.
Thank you,
Greetings from LA😊
That thing just sounds great! I honestly think Ampero have done a very good job with this generation of devices. I wonder if they would consider unifying all those units in one piece of software with all the features, taking the Stomp II, Stage and Ampero II with just one software. Have you ever asked them this Leo? Thanks for the video as always!
I have not done that exact question...but with another question they told me that maybe there are gonna be software procedure for profiling...maybe....
Sounds good, and it's an amazing tool! But there is no feature which the headrush core didn't have, and I'm very happy with the headrush!
Thank you for sharing....well...for instance the computer app is missing in the core....but maybe you don't need it.
Thank you for sharing, I have to check it out one more.
How about capturing that beautiful Mesa Boogie Mark V, just to hear some new sounds :) Very nice review though, I've been looking forward to it!
Yes....that would be cool.... :).... I'm happy that you appreciate the video!
I hope they add the feature to load captures into the ampero stomp
If you want, here you have more info: Ampero Profiling Q&A: What unit can create profile? What unit can load profile? When?

Hello from Germany, can you explain the main differences between the Ampero Stage and the new Ampero 2?
Best regards Manfred
Hi, maybe I will do a video in the coming days...
Thank you for your question and your suggestion.
Great review, Leo 💛💙
Does it has Pitch shifter in the beginning of the signal chain?
I want Drop D tube on my standard tuned guitar. Is it possible?
Thank you so much!
There are pitch shift effects....even if I didn't test them...meyabe I will do a dedicated video...
@@LeoGibsonGtr thank you very much, Leo! Kemper has great pitch shifter. Interesting to compare it with Cortex and Ampero 2.
Let's hear what the Master takes the sound of anything!!!
😀 Thank you!
Hello! Is it possible to switch off the IRs just on jack output and be on the XLRs? So one signal can go to the amp (jack Out) and the XLRs with IRs to the FOH, for example. If so, that would be a game changer, to me at least. Great reviews!
Thanks Leo!
You are welcome!
Sir leo, as always you have been doing the best reviews of pedals and hope you will continue doing so for a long time. I'm interested in hotone ampero 2 but as it i not available here in India and im in need for a pedal ASAP so my choice are mooer ge300 lite and hotone ampero 2 stomp can you give me some advice which one should i go for
Thank you for your hard work ❤❤
Great review as always, Leo. But I believe that there was a little mistake about the dimensions. If those numbers are in millimeters, They're probably height and width, not depth and width as displayed. 6cm deep seems too few, IDK. 🤷🏽♂️
I'm looking forward for the latency numbers with catches I suppose that that general latency will be similar to the Stage, but I'd suppose that the catch will be a bit more, like happened with Headrush.
In terms of modeling, profiling signal chain and effects...they are the same.
Nice review!!! Do you think the ampero tone catch is better than Mooer tone capture?
It would be nice to compare to ge300
The Moon Tone Capture with the GE lab app works only on the mobile devices, and therefore you need to use a specific audio interface....that's why I cannot compare.
Thanks!
Leo, please, make a short comparison between this and the Stage 🙏🙏
Thank you for your suggestion!
In short: Stage have 7 switches and bluetooth connection, and A2 have 4 switches and exp pedal.
Soundwise and the rest of the things, they are the same.
@@M4theusIcaro thanks a lot !!
nice explantion....ciao from Jakarta Indoensia
Thank you sooo much!!!
Very Nice, Leo. Now, we need a huge profiles databank like Kemper/Tonex. Do you think that the effects are on par with Kemper?
You are welcome and I'm happy that you appreciate the videos!!!
I mentioned the price at the end of the description section of the video: 599.
THanks!
Hi, I have used a beta firmware. The firmware with the profiles should be released within November.
THanks
Leo is there any gap or slight delay when you turn on and off effects with the footswitch?I have the Ampero Mini and i have a slight gap when switching effects on and off!Maybe Hotone can fix this in a firmware update?
Hi, I have to check it out.... I didn't notice it...but maybe I didn't pay to much attention...
Love your vídeos | viva a Europa
Thank you so much, I'm really happy that you appreciate the video!!!
Finally !!!!!
Thank you for your patience!
Is it possible to share tone catches with other users ?
It will be possible with the new computer app...as the capture procedure is still in beta, I guess that also the computer app is gonna be updated.
Thanks
Hi Leo. Would you say that ampero is more dynamic than the hx stomp in terms of feel?
Hi, really hard to tell...I should do a direct comparison to answer...but if you profile an amp and you use the same setting of the real amp...it's hard for a pure modeller to compete...in my opinion.
Thanks
Does the gapless switching work with different amps? Let's say i wanted to play a song with a clean part, rythm part and lead part, would i be able to create scenes with three different amps or is the gapless switching limited to effects and amp settings?
Hi, interesting question...Actually, I don't know...I have to check it out....
Hey, what do you think compared with the BOSS GX100 in sound quality?
Hi, I should make a direct comparison to answer properly. Of course, if you want a super faithful recreation of the real amp...profiling is hard to beat.
Thank you!
nice! but i don't really see how is this better than the stage if the tone catch thing will be implemented on it too....
Thank you for sharing your final choice!
as for Dynamic Range, i reckon this is one of the most Important aspects.
Hi, yes, it is a very important aspect.
With the profile of the soprano I think it's hard to recognise differences with the real deal...
Thanks!
It is just stage and stomp in other hardware enclosure. Tone catch fw will arrive to stage and stomp a bit later
Except number of fs and exp pedal and several in / outs units are exactly the same.
Yes. By the way, the beta fw for the stage is already available.
Thanks
Btw, Leo, when i can find your profiles of the pedal?
The computer app is not yet updated, and I'm not able to download my profiles....I'm thinking about a package of amps and pedals profiles to sell (with a fair price...don't worry).
Thank you!
Looking to me like the Ampero Stage II plus an expression pedal is a stronger alternative to this unit.
This is a very nice unit however.
Your thoughts?
I would agree with you. But of course it all depends from the form factor you need...I mean 4 foot sw + exp pedal --> Ampero 2 (saving some money). More foot sw, without exp pedal --> Stage.
Man. Working really hard on these videos. AI and everything! 🫡
Thank you, I'm happy that you recognise the time spent on these videos...!!!
@@LeoGibsonGtrI agree, awesome videos Leo!
Therefore just take into consideration your budget and if you need the more fnotswitcehs of the stage.....at least in my opinion
Thanks!
@@LeoGibsonGtr I'm just a bedroom hobbyist. I guess I will just get whichever is cheaper.
Thank you for taking your time to reply my question. 🙂
You are welcome!!!
I thought this product already existed 😅 A little bit confusing with so many amperos.
We have the Ampero 2 Stomp, the Ampero 2 Stage, and now the Ampero 2
Grazie
I'd like to see a comparison with the modeling pedals from UAFX (Deluxe Reverb, AC30, etc.) I'd like to compare the two to see/hear which modeling algorithm is closer to the real thing
Thank you for your suggestion!
Actually, profiling the amp, I would be pretty sure that the Ampero can get closer...
Hi, you can do it...and yes, you are gonna use a lot of DSP.
3 questions: 1) how it compares to the ampero 2 stage... i like more the switching a more options. 2) Midi over usb? 3) Seamless patch change or scenes?
Playing on stage with sockets haha ! Perfect !
Absolutely 😊
We trust İn Leo
thank you so much!!!
Please review the new boss gx10 multi effects
Hi, actually I'm working on something even better than a review of the GX 10...stay tuned... :)
Thanks!
Does the capture also have the same parameters as the real amps or just basic EQs,Master and Gain
Hi, it has basic parameters.
Thanks!
Thanks!
@@LeoGibsonGtr If Hotone is looking they could learn a lot from all insights you're giving.
Thank you!
My decision is Nano cortex or Ampero 2.... Help me please... No live ....only Home studio...but i want great sound and good profiles....

@@MrCcfly too much complicated to profile .. It Needs a super PC like Nasa PC.... And software Is too much confused....
you want to profile amps you own?
@@1Guug yes...simple as Nano Cortex or Ampero 2
@@iacopomosca5282 hard one to be honest, if you don’t need the effects and the I/O go for the cortex, it’s cheaper, smaller and the sounds are great and you don’t have to mess with dsp overload
192khz? Hmmm. But what's the internal ADDA resample rate? 44.1 or 48k?
It's for recording purposes....
Did this just come out?
When was it released?
It was release few weeks ago.
Thanks!
what is the difference between the Ampero 2 and 2 stage?
The Stage has three more switches. So you have 5 scenes instead of 4 plus you have the two switches to switch patches and other functions. The Ampero two you loose those switches plus a 100 bucks for the Exp pedal. Me Im getting the Stage I have an expression pedal already I just add. Id rather have that extra functionality.
As Thrive-Off-Grid said, basically there are just "physical" differences, in terms of dimensions foot switehces, etc...
@@bluematrix5001 ampero 2 stage also has blue tooth connectivity while ampero 2 does not if I'm not mistaken
Thank you guys!
Also I think the stage has the phone app ability whereas this model does not
This unit must wake up many other developers to drop price's😊. Hey nano.... Wake up!
Thank you for sharing!
it doesnt appear to be any less than the Stage, the only thing i see is one more 1/4 input on back and its $100 less than the stage, do you know the differences?
Of course number of foot switches, the exp pedal, the number of scenes (4 vs 5), weight and dimension. That as you said they are very similar
Thanks!
Are the presets themselves gapless, or is that just the scenes within a preset?
I guess only the scenes....but I have not done dedicated tests
Can you do latency check for the digitech whammy or pitch shift?
Hi, I'm sorry, but I don't have those pedals....maybe in the future if I'm able to get one
I mean the digitech or pitch shift of ampero ii
Coz the original ampero has really obvious latency , just wondering for ampero 2. Just ordered one hopefully it will come soon 😊 thank you
Can the Ampero 2 transpose in real-time?
Acoustic guitar profile capture please...🙏🙏🙏
Hi, I don't think it is possible to create a profile for acoustic guitar....maybe an IR is feasible....
Thanks!
i hear the bass less warm and "toy sound" in ampero. But honestly is real close to soldano
Thank you for sharing your findings! Yes, they are close...
Leo please vs the sonicake matri box 2 pro
Thank you for your suggestion!
So Ampero 2 is overpriced (and Boss is underpriced here).
what is better Ampero or Headrush Core ?
Hi, I don't have the Core, therefore I can't judge from direct experience...even if I can say that I'm not a fan of Headrush units.... for instance the missing computer app and the poor cabinet simulation are kind of deal breaker for me....
Thanks
@@LeoGibsonGtr thank you for your answer, all the best in the development of your super channel
How many catch can it load simultaneously?
I would say two, if you want to have also effects, but I would wait the final firmware to check out the signal chain.
