Tim’s face in the background is what makes the scene sublime. Obviously Matthew Holness’ acting is outstanding as the I.T. guy but watching Tim throughout the scene is wonderful
I was around in an office culture, when appraisals were just becoming a thing, so no one had a clue quite what was happening or what they were, this scene captured how clueless management were and how uninterested employees were too. Brilliant.
Appraisals have always been a total waste of time, well done big Keith for treating it with such brilliant contempt, should be used as part of any training
Keith’s appraisal was the first time I saw this series. I was channel surfing and found it mid episode. I thought it was a real life documentary and I was immediately hooked and have been ever since!
Was he in the Blockbuster episode.? If ,so, was he the "2" or "1"?

I like the UK office more than the US one purely based on the fact that the UK version stuck to the original purpose of following a boring office, whereas the US one became overdramatic after season 2. Greetings from Spain!!
Yes exactly. The UK didn't need to change anything at all. The U.S office took years to properly get viewers because of how poor the first season was. I love both though. But UK was just genius
One of the best scenes ever is when they do group office training and Brent improvises in his role declaring loudly, 'I think there has been a rape up there.'
Vicious comeback from Computer guy. Its what makes The Office great. Tim could have won with his witty comments but that retort matches them in such a cruel, cynical way.
It is easy to forget how long ago? This was, what an impact it had and how incredibly good it was. There’s some brilliant scenes in this vid and how some of the actors have gone on to do some amazing stuff in their own right
The computer guy and Gareth scene is brilliant, Tims face whilst listening to the computer guys boasts is hilarious. But the computer guy shot down Tims brilliant 'yeah if you were going to send anyone undercover to the triads you would want the worlds most famous Chinese film star' put down by casually saying 'Gone off Dawn now have you?'
Noooooo...not underrated. Keiths appraisal is not only the greatest scene of the Office, its one of the best comedy scenes of all time. The timing, the writing, the acting...the way Keith slowly chews his gum like he can hardly even be bothered to do that...genius
They were devised to weed out trouble makers and to use against you if you ever took your employer to an employment tribunal. They served no purpose what so ever other than to demoralise staff.
These scenes are not underrated. They are some of the most quoted, referenced and beloved scenes of the show. How does that equate to being underrated?
When i left school and worked in some low level, dying industry offices, this is EXACTLY the type of people that worked there. Managers who didn't know what they were doing and staff who couldn't care less.

The US version is garbage
The UK Office characters and the scenes are believable and the humor is subtle. The US office is overdramatic and not believable.
