this is a nice budget pre pro, sound united should skip on the internal amplifier and make a budge pre amp on this model
I'm updating an ancient 90s dolby pro logic setup.... witha 90s Bose Acoustimass 10 speaker set, and a 12 or so year old 1080p TV....
Really think the X3700 level AVR is about the perfect end game goal for my needs.... for now I think I will live with a simple, modern 5.1 AVR upgrade like a Denon AVR-S540BT or similar Yamaha, for cheap, and then work on upgrading to a 4K TV, nice 5.1 speakers, and at that point, I will be saving for something like this mid level X series AVR woth 9 ch of amplification, and some speakers to do Atmos....
Thanks for the review, this is a really nice unit for anyone who is stopping short of the ultimate theater room, but for your average living room setup, this is some seriously awesome hardware to provide for a great entertainment experience....
Any advice on which low end 5.1 unit would be a good step into modern AVR and home entertainment?

I can’t be the only person that’s devastated they dropped the front hdmi port on these new models. That was legit one of the most underrated features on an AVR.

Wow you already moved to Houston? That was fast or seemed anyway! Man, the last Denon I owned introduced me to Dolby true HD and dts master audio, first unit I owned that had hdmi. That seems like a long time ago today!
I got the 8k 4700 at my local bestbuy here in NYC and love it.i was lucky I saw it on the shelf and its not even on thier website.

I'm really exited for this one, not because of the 8k but the 11 channel pre-output.
Sad there is no front hdmi, i use it quite a lot for calibrating the subs. I guess i will put a short hdmi extender somewhere.
How do you calibrate subs using a hdmi?
@@Jaskinia31 You make your computer output a multi-in (basically a 5.1/7.1 PCM). You need rew with asio4all driver in order to select each channel in a 7.1.
Then you can send signal to each channel including the LFE. Then you need a calibrated mic and a DSP to make corrections.
My friend bought an Amazon-renewed 3600 in 2020 for $699. Why so cheap if there’s so little difference? Ida paid that np.
They always add and take things away at the same time
regarding the watt rating for all channels. It's not the manufactures fault on this one, there are many variables to consider, you will NEVER run all the channels at max wattage no matter what soundtrack. the front front Right & left use the most wattage and are the most important speakers, so is the center channel (well for tv and movies). I don't think people realize just how loud 100 watts per channel is in stereo. or 70% of that 70 watts is either. For home use, 100 watts is more then enough, unless you want to lose your hearing.

Does anyone know the max temperature that is safe for the average Denon AVR? I use an AC Infinity fan on top but don't really know the best temp to set it at.

why are they still trying to use HDMI for large data transfers such as 8k? Displayport has almost double the bandwidth of HDMI 2.1

My question is instead of buying an external amplifier to drive my Front LR speakers can I use my old Denon AVR as the external Amp? I'm still using the old AVR -3310ci and was thinking of using it as the external amp. Thanks.

SPDIF is the type of Signal transmission (in this case for both coax and optical) not the connector type itsself.

The next gen gaming consoles cannot do 8k; so its pointless to use the 8k hdmi port you suggested.
the 8k isnt the biggest factor for gaming. ALLM and VRR are imbedded into the hdmi 2.1 format. The hdmi boards also do 8k when needed.

hi, nice review, i'm shopping for this model. It's cheaper in HongKong but it's 240v 50/60H, made in Vietnam too. My question is since Denon makes for 120 and 240v market would it be cheaper for them to make the AVRs with120-240v transformer but don't label it. Your thoughts, have you ever tested the transformer Denon uses and see if it can handle 240v? txs

I am looking at the 3700H and the 4500H.
The 4500H is on ebay new for a good price but not sure it will give me what I want.
I have an LG Cx oled tv, ps4 pro and nvidia shield Pro, Nintendo switch (and ps5 coming) . If I bought the 4500H would earc be the best option.

Just picked up the 3700h. Does anyone rack mount these? I can’t find the rack ears anywhere but think it might fit the Denon RMR6545 mount kit.
The should quickly update it for at least 2 HDMI2.1 input like Yamaha does , what is an extra cost of HMI2.1 ? 5$ or 10$ ( greedy accountant )

No backlit remote? WTH? Effing cheapo Denon. My 25 yr old Lexicon has a backlit remote that still works. No analogue to HDMI conversion? WTH? Effing cheapo Denon. Why have composite and component inputs if you can't output them to HDMI? Makes no sense. Why would these cheap bastards remove the front HDMI? I'm seriously reconsidering buying from this el cheapo company. Prices all went up too.
I got the 4700 and actually found the power cord quite important. In fact it didn’t even turn on without it. ; )

The knife is too small. Maybe should’ve used a Delta 12” radial arm saw for the task... close to cutting own hand at the open. Done here.

Is the prepro all or nothing? Or can you assign what channel gets pre out. Also can you use pre out and the amp power to bi-amp my fronts?
I may be in the minority here, but Ext stereo is the way to go for me on anything not coded to atmos or dts. In that case would not all speakers be getting full beans?

Is there a way I can setup Audyssey for movies and music and have it automatically switch depending on the input I choose?

It remembers your settings per HDMI input, so you can have it off for CD and on for blu-ray player, for example

I've got Focal Aria speakers would i need an external amp with this to run them optimally? My LCR are Focal Aria 926 and CC900. I'm using the SR900's as rears. Planning on adding 4 ceiling speakers for Atmos at the same time too. Local store here seems to think this should run it all but im not sure. Or would it be best to get a higher end Denon such as the 4700/6700?
id say with anything hifi get an amp, but the denon will be fine for those

Instead of reviewers making it seem like these manufacturers have created something revolutionary, someone should call them out on their BS. This receiver is no different from a 3600h, save for that one 8K HDMI. Why would you sell a receiver with only one 8K HDMI when it’s probably going to cost very little to make all the ports 8K?
If consumers were to demand more from manufacturers, this nonsense would stop. You don’t need to release receivers every year. Release new models when there’s something major. Save your $$ and get a 3600
i dont think you are right. look up a comparison of both side by side. there are differences. just because its the same power as last year doesnt mean that everything is the same

I have questions on what I should get speaker wise as well ad what AVR I should get to make sure I am getting the most out of my setup. Are the ultras worth the price separation from the primes? So if i want only 11 channels should i buy 6700 because is has 11 native channels or i can get this one with 9 native channels plus i can add two more to get 11 channels. But does it mean that those extra 2 channels ( processed not native) will sound worse than native on 6700 ? Or if i want only 11 channels there is no point buying 6700 spending extra money ? Still do not understand the difference between native and processed ? Does it sounds the same in terms of quality ?

Marantz has soured me on their products. The hdmi handshake, I always have to turn off my marantz to get the audio to come back. They also offered no help when I contacted them. Big reason I am looking at the anthem 60 pre/pro.

5.2.4 no external amp / 7.2.4 yes (X3700H has 9 internal amps, so you need to select what 2 speakers are run by the external) I jus bought mine and I am just here looking for any tips, that is as much as I know
I bought the new 2700h, it overheated within an hour of playing music. I bought another one, and it also overheated. Not happy.
I have the x4500h & the x3700h the both are in tv cabinets with good space & no doors closed & with ac fans 2 fans each I've played both the avrs for hours at a time at fairly high volume & have never had a problem & they both was not hot to the touch just little warm no different than any other receivers I've experienced exept a onkyo tr805 that my cousin has it runs much much hotter than my denons but he has had no issues & he's had it since it launched seems like awhile ago but it's a damn nice kit for sure....and I've been very happy with my receivers they sound amazing with everything I throw at em

Question: Could I achieve 7.2.4 and bi-amp L/R by using the height 1 & 2 preamp outputs with my old receiver (using zone 1&2 to power the heights) while using the 7.2 + Bi-amp mode assignment (found in the manual)? Or another way to ask the question, are the preamp outputs always hot, always sent their channels? Thanks!

Do you use this Denon ? Do you have any problem with surround amp like when u switch off the receiver you hear a light click from the speakers like the power cut out suddenly from them?
