So, funny story. You don't even need the hyper beam to do this. A charged plasma beam will do the same thing. Found this out on a randomized run, and it was awesome.
There's a video called SA-X Ray... gives the SA-X the x ray visor and makes it more powerful to match it's in-game description. Check it out, it's pretty terrifying lol. Even has multiple SA-X like how the game mentioned it multiplied...
Also, the Kraid fight took more than that, as the video cut out when Kraid stood up, not when it died. If you deal enough damage to kill Kraid before it stands up, then it never stands up.
The Hyper beam is really just a charged Plasma/Wave beam. I played with both from the beginning and the number of shots it took to kill the bossses were the same for both beams.
Haha, same here... Someone just found out how to keep it without cheats though... here’s the vid: ua-cam.com/video/ianlHb4kmtc/v-deo.html Not sure this is something the child version of me could’ve pulled off, but it’s awesome nonetheless lol
Does anyone have the information on what damage level the hyper beam is at? It looks like it does somewhere around the equivalent of five super missiles per shot
+ILikeWafflz Hyper Beam deals 1000 damage per shot, whereas super missiles deal 300 (600 to certain enemies like Phantoon and Ridley). It's actually not that much more powerful than a charged Ice + Wave + Plasma beam, which deals 900 damage (1800 to certain enemies, 450 to certain others). The main advantage of Hyper Beam is that it charges instantly.
That One Ubered Soldier cam that really considered to be charged? xD i mean,yeah....it is as powerful as a charge-shot,but that doesnt mean its actually charged(note:i dont know tho if the hyper beam is programmed as charged shot inside the games data. it could be,because normally, only chargeshots can damage bosses)
There's also a way to get the super missiles before spore spawn is fought using the mockball glitch. I did that, just so I could go into the spore spawn room, and then go right out. Samus: Giant evil plant, eh? *troll face* NOPE! *super missiles door and leaves* Spore Spawn: Wait, what are you doing!? COME BACK HERE AND FEAR ME!
there are others ways as well and with cheats u can even get em before normal missiles and the morph ball at the start using power bombs (cheat),where u have to count 6 platforms then move a bit left
You get a lot of the gray things Draygon shoots on you, which slow you down to the point that you can build up a shinespark in the room. So I've heard.
@sonic4132 - Well, I use ZSNES, so when I pause the game I'm running (by hitting escape), I click on the "CHEAT" menu-button at the top of the screen and then I hit "ADD CODE". From there, you enter the code in the "ENTER CODE" box , and come up with a name to remember that code in the lower "DESCRIPTION" box. Then hit "ADD". From that same menu, you can activate/de-activate any cheat you want by double clicking on it, or hitting "TOGGLE". Hope that helps. For other emulators, read their docs.
Ridley was always much harder than MB in my opinion. I must’ve died to him 10 times before I finally killed him, and I was fully stocked. I killed MB first time around
Ninja_Baseball_Haruhara Mother Brain's fight is effectively a cutscene the devs made it so that so long as you don't just sit there and take it like a man you can't lose that fight.
Really? I thought they were as a whole hard. While they were easy to damage, they didn't have very predictable patterns that allowed you to dodge their attacks consistently. That, and the annoying weapon switching controls that were way inferior to the Zero Mission/Fusion controls. I found Super Metroid bosses to be harder than Zero Mission (that game, as fun as it was, was extremely easy) and harder than some of the easier Fusion bosses.
@jruler93 - Well, I still remember quite a bit about it. However, it's been a long time since I've been involved with it all, so it's a tad bit foreign to me. I'm sure if I spent some time looking over the more recent stuff, I'd be back up to date pretty easily.
There are some enemies that simply can not be killed by the hyper beam. It's because these enemies can not die from a charged beam shot and the hyper beam is considerd as always charged
That ridley fight though Technically he died halfway through the fight, even though hes at 0 HP he still takes some extra hits to kill, unless you let him pick you up
judging by this i'm guessing its damage output is so insanely high just because mother brain has a huge health pool to prevent the fight from being broken by killing her before the scripted scenes?
@jruler93 - I don't believe that it will kill everything with one shot. However, I believe almost all non-boss enemies are insta-killed by it. As far as bosses, I don't remember which ones can be killed in one shot, and which ones take more. That's what the video is for :) If you'd like to find out yourself, I highly recommended that you try it if you've got the time and know-how to use the cheat.
@jruler93 Hyper beam does 200 damage. To put that in perspective, a charged Ice/Wave/Plasma beam does 180 damage, and the normal creature with the most HP is Holtz with 180. Bosses: Ridley I - 400, Torizo - 160, Spore Spawn - 200, Kraid - 200, Phantoon - 300, Botwoon - 600, Draygon - 1200, Golden Torizo - 2700, Ridley II - 4800, Mother Brain - 600/3600/7200.
Interesting how Mother Brain doesn't recoil from the hyper beam until the baby metroid's sacrifice, when you're "supposed" to get the hyper beam. Also, why not attack Mother Brain in the jar with the hyper beam?
I was going to kill Draygon the regular way (just spamming missiles) when my friend (who has been playing the Metroid games for a VERY long time) told me to do that xD
If you are playing randomized items and manage to get plasma beam, you can kill it in 10 seconds charging your beam and as soon as it hits spam the fuck out the x-ray scope and see it slowly die
Oh...my....god they hyper beam is so op, it coz how long the beam is, combined with wave beam and plasma, it cuts through enemies easily and does shit tons of damage for every second it passes through
@jruler93 Botwoon is the worm you face in Maridia. Crocomire technically has infinite HP, however if you hit him with something strong enough he will back up all the way into the lava.
Crocomire: No you get away from me! *falls in pit* SHIT!!!! Mother Brain: Bitch you call that a Hyper Beam?! *blasts Samus* You gotta admire the Metroid's ability to absorb energy.
Hyper Beam always sounded to me like it was saying "get the fuck out." Using it over and over and then finally ceasing fire it was "get the fuck get the fuck get the fuck get the fuck get the fuck out!"
@jruler93 I was referring to Crocomire's scripted death in the lava, and you not dying as quickly as he does. I don't really understand why that had to be explained to me in the context of the conversation.
Sorry, I guess it didn't like my post that I wrote here a few days ago or whenever that was. The code is 62C5-14A6. Remember, you have to see your inventory (The "Samus" screen) before you can use it. Otherwise it's treated as if it's off. Now if you were to go through the whole game like I did, you'd need to turn it off now and then. (for when you have to have the Ice Beam) Do this: 1. Save somewhere 2. Disable the code 3. Reset 4. Reload, then re-activate when ready.
I honestly thought that most of the bosses wouldn't get hurt since you're not supposed to have Hyper Beam when you fight them. Turns out that I know nothing.
I use ZSNES, a SNES Emulator. I can find you a link if you want, or Google can help you find it. What you do is load the rom up, then go to Cheat, then hit "Add Code". Enter the actual code in the top box and a description in the lower box. Then hit the "Add" button and it will be added to your list of cheats. You can disable them by double clicking on the cheats in the big box on that screen. Hope that helps, let me know if it doesn't.
Tadeo Gomez Freezing the Red Circles and performing a certain jump lets you pass through the Zebetites (red pillar). If you pass it the others dont spawn plus the mother brains glass.
Actually, it's more likely that he broke the zebetites and the glass shell then went back to refill his missiles. And the glass around MB does appear even if you get the zebetite skip.
@sonic4132 - Uh, I think you have to reset the emulator after you have activated the code. Then press start to go to the Map, then hit start again. You should now have the hyper beam.
