This is by far the coolest slot car event in the world. And to have the Slot It CEO at the race proves it!

Thank you Johnny. My comments for improvement: 1) Improve your macro video. Most of the close-ups were blurry. 2) Use a gyro stabilizer. Your camera movements were too bumpy and blurred. If a gyro stabilizer and macro lens is not available, use a new mobile phone with excellent stabilization and macro focus, e.g., Samsung Galaxy S10. 3) At the conclusion when you show car damage, in the lower corner of the video frame, indicate the finish by class and overall. 4) When you are talking with a person on a team, indicate in the video frame corners, a Google Map screenshot of the location the person is from, their team contact information, their name, and their team function. 5) Sometimes the speech during the interview is unclear. Provide subtitles when necessary. 6) Slot-Car 24-hours of Le Mans is an awesome resource for amateurs and slot-car manufacturers to improve cars. During film production interviews of each team member, cover many topics for exclusive post-edit topics, e.g., chassis, , bodies, motors, tires, how do they drive in the dark, sleep rotation, food and water, travel to and from the event experience and tips, family relationship dynamics, digital engineering, give-and-take sacrifice engineering for speed vs cornering vs Concours d Elegance, etc. 7) Interview the track construction contractor(s); probably the best in the world. This is extremely important for professional slot-car-club constructors and home-track constructors. 8) At the conclusion, show (5 seconds for each picture collage) the team's finish by class and overall with number of laps, the car(s) before and after the race from the same angle, the team portrait and team name, a Google Map screenshot of their team/club location, their team/club contact information, each team member's name and team function. 9) Interview each Race Director about the qualification, year calendar, event schedule, rules, etc., with illustrations, drawings, pictures, diagrams, and charts. 10) Talk about, and include screenshots about, other similar events around the globe.

Fascinating… I used to slot race in the sixties (UK). A local raceway held a 24hr 'Le Mans' event in the days before LEDs and electronics. Cars (24th scale) were allowed one body shell, one chassis pan, and one motor can and magnets… anything else could be replaced if worn, blown, or damaged. Various ingenious methods were used to keep the lights on when the throttle was off, during the 'night' period of the race. Power was cut hourly, when marshals moved each car over a lane (8 lane circuit) and stuck a new coloured disc on the car's roof for its new colour coded lane. Pit stops were made for tyres, pick up braids (usually quick change slot guides ready fitted with new braids), and the occasional gear set, armature, end bell, brushes, bearings etc., as well as for taping up body shells and straightening/soldering the odd bent or broken chassis. I volunteered for a few 2 hr marshalling stints. Great fun, but it was hectic, and 2hrs at a time was plenty. An ambulance had to be called after one accident… a marshal suffered broken fingers when a car hit it as he moved it back across the track after re-slotting a crashed car, instead of lifting his hand up and keeping it clear.

WOW! Things have come a long way since 1969, when I got my first slot car raceway, which was bought at Sears, and I believe it featured the Golden Gate Bridge included in the circuit. Great video, I just happened to come across this when I was looking for Project Cars dlc. Keep up the great work! I'm surprised that I haven't seen any classic cars like the Porsche 917, which my brother had when we raced. This is a fantastic video, brings back memories. (I'm 59 years of age, but I act more like a kid now than ever, LOLOLOL.) I was ready to see Steve McQueen, lolol.

I'm with you Pops Brink in being amazed how things have changed since I had my slot car set back in 1966. I think the entire set cost under $20.00 back then. A Christmas gift purchased from a department store.

I remember my 1/32nd scale race track I got for Xmas 1966. Lot's of fun. I also remember my first 1/24th scale slot car racer back in 1967. I used to race it at CLASSIC SPEEDWAYS in Santa Monica, CA. It was on Lincoln Blvd between Michigan St and Pico Blvd. It was one block away from SAMOHI (Santa Monica High School). They had one huge track and one medium-size track to race on. You bought time to use on the track. They had weekly races for guys who hand-built their racecar.

I remember my first Scalectrix set back in the 1960s. The transformer/rectifier had a metal case with a reset button that would pop up when the unit got a bit warm. That was the signal for my parents to tell me and my brother that it was time to go outside and play for an hour! :o) The cars were F1 style that had front wheel steering activated by the pin that went into the slot (it was not a blade back then) and they cornered beautifully as the front wheels were always aligned to the direction of travel (unless you overdid it on the corner) and sat properly on the track keeping the weight of the chassis off the brushes (braids).

Very enjoyable! Thanks so much for taking the time and putting in the effort to film it. A couple thoughts: hard to hear interviewees, camera was pretty shaky and often unfocused, could’ve used an explanation of the scoring. Plus: where is it held?

Thank you for vid, its good to see this sport has evolved. It appears that a lot of the issues of the old have been worked out. Slots have always been a great Idea. But what I can remember had limitations that took away from realism. So maybe you answer a few questions. Q#1. Is there a speed limit racers must comply with for this race?
Q#2. Crashing, Is there such thing as a Fatal Crash, that would take a team or a Driver out of the race, Or a number of Crashes that would get a Team/Driver ejected? Q#3. This sort of connected with the last question, "The Recovery" (pit crew) getting the car back on the track and racing again. Is this the teams responsibility or individuals are located around the hazardous area's on the track and are there for this purpose?.
Lastly, Q#4. The "TEAM" 's How are they entered. a)Pay the entrance fee. b)Did they have to qualify, :win a previous division, be a member of an organization, or other reason. Bonus Question: What is the maxim number of contestants per race.?
    Thank you.

What a great, fun event. One thing i was wondering is with 6-8 lanes how come everyone doesn't just use the inside lane and how do you deal with lanes and so on. Does a shorter route work out at less laps?

The cars are digital, and have a digital chip in them, the hand throttle is chipped too, so it is like 'radio controlled'. Then there are lane changer pieces for overtaking. They should mention all this somewhere in the video.
