I'm in the same boat. I think I'm gonna try covering the carpet with either nice carpet tiles or laminate flooring that snaps....something that can easily be removed when we move out and won't damage the carpet
I tell y’all what go to Walmart buy a nice carpet cleaners and clean your carpet good and then buy some plastic carpet cover and put it on your carpet to keep it clean it’s a bissell carpet cleaner boil some hot water and some awesome and if not that just carpet cleaner put it into the vacuum and it cleans your carpet well after you clean it put the Plastic over it and when or if you move out just pull the plastic up and you have a clean carpet.
Same as ours, a great quality Carpet Protection Film.
The old carpet protectors lasted longer but you couldn't step on them barefoot or you'd bleed

Your Landlord -who’s probably charging you exploitative rent, and living off his/her unearned wealth -should replace the carpet at regular intervals.
What about putting or applying it down on Tiles etc !!??? 😕😰🤦🏻♂️
