Nice video. It was probably done in such a way to give the viewers a basic understanding of how carpet is installed. I’m sure that many installers have several different variations incorporating their own techniques. Like anything else, if you want to become good at it, practice is a great approach. I’m a bit puzzled however, by a lot of the comments from people who seem to have some experience installing carpet. If they know a better way of how the process works or what tools they should be using, what the heck are they doing viewing and heckling a “how to” video about something they have supposedly mastered?
Hahahahah, I always wonder about such comments too! My thought is always, if you know how to do something better, why don't you upload your own video and show how it should be rightly done? I on the other hand am always greatly for people giving their time, energy and money to teach others like myself, about anything.
Great video! Everything I need to know to lay my own carpet without excessive discussion. Small rooms with low traffic so no seaming and no power stretcher needed.
Never lesson to these people who know how nothing but criticing everything they saw. You did an amazing work and for sure I'm going to do it.
Wow! Short and brief video. Thank you
Great video. 5 minutes and one has a great idea of how the pros do it!
this was a great video
Don't think you're going to watch this and install your own carpet lol.
I totally agree. They left out the most important tool, the power stretcher.
@@cfmcarpetcleaning568 I don’t need one I just stretch it myself with a kicker
The person talking:"the materials you will need is your carpet"
Me:like duh
Thanks for sharing good tips man
This is an AWESOME video! Simple but informative. Thanks!!
Wow
what a video!
No mention of a "power stretcher"???
Good job brother...
i think im just going to hire someone
Good job bro
Great!! Ready to install my carpet now. What could go wrong :D
Good on him for trying.
Nice!👍🏻
Very nice video.
Great job! Ty🙂
Lol the goggles for putting gripper down
How do you keep it clean? And what when it gets dirty? Can you wash it and reinstall it? How often do you wash it and what is its lifespan??
The proper way to clean carpet is to clean it with a carpet cleaning machine preferably a mobile carpet cleaning service. Make sure a prespray cleaner is applied 1st generally to just the problem soiled areas and then rinsed by extracted with total clean water from the the mobile unit. If soapy water is only used from the machine and not rinsed with clean water it will leave a soap residue which can gum up your carpet.
Buen trabajo las uniones de alfombras se ejecutan con cuchillas milimetrcas como cortaste corta el pelo de la alfombra y se notaría
wait what.... Stanley fat max 10m tape, coooooool I'm a builder in NZ I haven't seen one before
Great tutorial!!..Great job!
Is it available on amazon...please drop the link.
Never use a carpet knife to trim carpet along the wall because you are not only cutting the carpet but you are gouging the wall trim... that’s why they have a wall trimmer tool
Rookies scratch the walls pros angle the blade right into corner baddabing baddaboom
Awesome video! But, How to get rid of those pins on the edges? When I step on edges I could feel them. Some are a bit sharp.
Generally the lower the pile of your carpet the more the tack strip pins can poke your feet. General practice says to not take a hammer to bend the tack strip pins down but using your fingers to gently find the pins should solve your problem.
I need to do this asap! My carpet smells like straight feet
Nice 👍🙏
Nice
Rough fitter, you'd brake your ankle falling down the gap in that join your certainly need your hiking boots
There's hammer that's looks more like a hatchet it comes in very handy when installing the tack strip.
That hawk had down right thanks too ogrogant
Que bonito lo hacen ver muy facil 😍
OK, I watched this video. Anyone hiring?
1:50 The baseboard should have a 3/8" gap between the floor and bottom of the baseboard.
Would you please give the website to buy these carpets...
Does carpet lay towards you or away from you?
kje si kupil?
may i know what brand of carpet is this
What was the colour of this carpet
4:33 - 4:35 look at the carpet buckling up because it wasn't stretched with a POWER STRETCHER 🤦♂️
When you look in the mirror one day you'll start calling them wrinkles. 😁
I noticed how they didn’t use a power stretcher unlike in other tutorials, is this fine?
Power stretchers are really only need for larger rooms, in a typical bedroom or living room a knee kicker is all you need if you do it right. Make sure one section behind the wall your stretching is attached properly to the tack strip or you’ll just pull the carpet off of it
I don't even know where to start about all the things wrong here...
This is an Australian based outfit and hopefully this guy stays there. Problem solved. Oh yeah a good place to start is the guy failed at higher math hence the 10ft tape measure 😄
I need a carpet, my brother is giving me his room and the floor has footprints from him painting his room and it looks really ugly
Buy some more paint and a cheap pair of shoes. Make sure you buy your paint at your local crafts or art supply house. 😁
He’s just cut of the pile cutting joint😆always cut from the back
This carpet per meter how much money
Woooow
I promise, let the pros handle the installation, I've been installing for 2 years now and I still don't have mastered
Thats a good attitude, keep at it man. I've been at it 20 years and I see too many "know it alls" go down in flames.
I just saw this video and opened my own carpet installation company. 😎
There's an old saying by the time you learn how to install carpet your to old to do it. 😁
👍👍👍
Awful installation ! Underlay bigger then the gripper height & cutting the carpet to joint from the top when it should be done from the back !! The seam will show for sure.
You're right about cutting a plush from the topside, which cuts the yarns. As for the comment about the pad (underlay) being higher than the tack strip (grippah), tack strip is only 1/4" thick, so unless you install 1/4" pad, it will always be taller/higher than the strip. This is not an issue. Also, there was never any weight put on the seam after being put together, the weight holds the carpet in the seam-tape glue until it sets and also draws heat out of the seam. The seam also needs to be pulled off the pad before stretching, as sometimes it will stick to the pad.
Banzan Buddhist, pointing out things that are incorrect, does not a "troll" make.
If someone is trying to show others how to do something, like installing carpet, then it should be done CORRECTLY.
Green color available ..
And this price
tell me the price please
a stair tuk tool for a wall trimmer whaatt plush top cut carpet what omg
..Damn , I forgot the carpet..!
Where do you get the rug gripper
'khwab
At 5:15 you can see the carpet isn't hooked taut onto the gripper when he rubs his bolster along.
Capet griper lol its called tack strip.
And where are you from? Many tools and supplies in many industries have different names in different locations and sometimes even multiple 'common' names in the same location. Not really relevant what it's called, it's how it's used that is important. ;-)
You better start saving up for air fair to Australia. Don't want to be left behind doing it all wrong. Maybe we can get a discount air fair together cuz I've always called it carpet pad. 😁
I always heat SEAM carpets with no tension in them. Oh, no, wait...
This is promo video. Don't ever install carpet like this video shows. Holy cow
yeah very bad switch to making tires
عايزه موكيت مسروقه
Hack! If you don't use a stretcher on carpet your not an installer. Knee kickers do not stretch carpet.
Still

your new carpet
Yeah that was a what not to do video. Hey does the 10ft tape measure mean you can only do 10x10 rooms and smaller? 😁
i hate my colored carpet :/
Can I use bonding glue or double-sided tape underneath the padding against the wood we're just Staples
He did everything completely wrong.Wow
Matt Robertson yes you right. I do carpet since 2002 and all what I saw in this video is not right.
اخدم نفسي من نفسي
That was a very bad install that guy did not know what he was doing
carrfloorz he clearly installed his carpet his method. How you were taught is your method so shut the fuck up.
What the hell

I hate when people comment on a video on UA-cam about how wrong a perfectly fine installation was.
I've been a professional installer for 32 years, I have certifications in every type of rug. This is a horrible video! It will show wrinkles in months and the seam will be seen across the room.
lorne neilson post a video on how it is supposed to be done then
Waiting...
Sure I do high end jobs and just bought a hero sessions. Then you post a video about how your carpet is wrinkling and you have cuts all over your baseboard, because you have no clue!
C W ua-cam.com/video/Ua80rOTcthk/v-deo.html Here you go this is how it should be done
FFFFFFFFF cut it too short! ARRRGGGG
الكفار شغلهم مرتب😂
I have installed carpet for only 25 years with other flooring. This is a joke. If you don’t have a power stretcher with tubes you void carpet warranty. Knee kicker is unexplainable means of installing carpet. They are used to start a first corner of a room and stairs or to adjust the carpet. If a “pro” comes in with a knee kicker on anything larger than a 8’x8’ room you’re being taken. The money you’re paying might as well be burnt. They will tell you it’s how all do it with the kicker but it’s not. Stretching a room is an art form also to not put bubbles in. If you’re carpet is lose it will wear faster.
Waite on that grand piano, 12ft multi tv/stero/computer wall unit and 5 piece bolt together leather corner sectional with matching glass coffee tables till your carpet is restricted with a power stretcher. 😁
yes do it yourself, then when you fuck it up I'll charge double what it would off originally cost to lay it!!!
Can we get American pros? Millimeter?Come on!
Just a thought... maybe you 'mericans should catch up to the rest of the world and use the internationally recognized system of measurement. :-P
@@lakeman2604 maybe you should catch up with the recognized system of installing carpet the right way in america

My carpet smells like feet!!
Total cowboy, I've been a floor layer for nearly 35 yrs and have never fitted a carpet as badly as that, gives a false impression of easyness too !
Kicking 6" behind the strip lol then cutting down right on the baseboard. Time to throw out my wall trimmer if this Is the standard for cutting in. Whole video is a joke
@@raystone3172 what's getting me is using shoes on the clients new carpet lol
@@sn0m0ns funny watching the guy pulling the wall trimmer towards him instead of pushing it forwards right down the baseboard without stopping. 😁
@@raystone3172 wood tack strip only takes 1 swing of the hammer not 5 times like an old lady. 😁
Also top cutting the join 😲
