The reason the cushion and monster tires have more invincibility than their counterparts is because when you land onto the ground, the tires sometimes make you bounce which can really mess up your driving, but I don't know why the other counterparts are like that.
I once time bounced onto the offroad on dk summit, and had i not had monster tires, i wouldve fell off, but instead I bounced and landed back on the track. Not saying it's a valid reason to use them, but it's a funny thing that happened. I'd say non-rollers are better for heavier characters sometimes for traction and extra speed, or lighter characters who can sacrifice a smidge of miniturbo for speed, which they lack.

In other words, they’re practically built for 200cc or tracks where speed would otherwise be better but the turns are a bit too sharp for the slick wheels.
here's what i use for mario kart 8 deluxe [note: its probably pretty bad cause i'm a casual player] character: isabelle kart: koopa clown tires: off-road glider: cloud
Also, the traction stat is inaccurate when comparing the slims to the rollers. The rollers have higher off-road traction (4 compared to slim wheels’ 1), but their on-road traction (which I feel matters significantly more) is far outmatched. Rollers have an on-road traction of 0, while slims have an on-road traction of 4.
Based on the WR time trials, longest tracks in the game are Wii Rainbow Road - 2'31"599 Wii Maple Treeway - 2'22"604 DS Waluigi Pinball - 2'18"706 so yeah you're right, Maple Treeway is one of the longest tracks in the game.
Oh also: I couldn't find any information about why some wheels just have a higher invincibility stat outside of unsourced comments saying it's because they have a slightly larger hitbox, even though they look the same size.

According to a shortcat... well, short, I saw a while ago: cushion and monster wheels will make your vehicle do a small bounce on landings which can sometimes mess up your drift if you try to do so immediately after landing.
as a Cushion wheel user, I will admit the bounce can suck, but the bounce can also be useful at times. It's easiest to let the wheels speak for themselves as I don't know how to explain it exactly.
Monster wheels and the cushion wheel hav the same main issue of sometimes upon landing from a jump they make you bounce which can ruin mini turbos also i think slicks are ever so slightly better than metal since it has same ground speed and mini turbo but but slightly more anti grav stats compared to metal which is better than neutral in the 3 extra speeds
I disagree with the button and leaf wheels because I think those wheels are S tier as well as the roller and azure roller wheels but that is just my opinion and all the other wheels/tires I agree with the tiers you gave them
I love the Leaf Tires (Buttons have same stats but look worse). They are argueably as good as rollers, as they have the same Speed + MT total and the Acceleration + Anti-grav speed bonus. The difference is they have less miniturbo and more speed, which makes them nice for variety and a work visually better on a lot more karts. Then again, all tires have the Speed + MT total, so while some are better than others, you do have a lot of great options.
i don't think so because the mr scooty has 1 point better mini-turbo but 2 points worse ground speed & 1 point worse invincibility than the teddy buggy
My opinion on most of the differences in Mario kart is preference and experience takes all. I’ve seen people on terrible combos that are better than anyone else. It really comes to skill and experience with a combo, not the stats.

When I’m not trying to achieve something I main off-road on standered bike with gold pink peach but I actually used to use the slim wheels there upper mid but off-road are pretty good

For 150cc you trick off the ramp in the beginning section and in 200 you drift off the ramp because all the speed and momentum you can't tricking on 200 cc or just make you run into the wall
The only reason the slick wheels were bad for you was because you didn’t use their best combo. The slick wheels work their best on the Yoshi bike with Shy Guy and the cloud glider. It is about equal on the best combo, only losing a little in mini turbo in replacement of a really good invincibility stat. Instead of using 1 bike and character, change up the entire combo to see the best wheels because on the right combo, the slick wheels are the 3rd best in the game.
Fun fact: in Mario kart 8 deluxe, there are 2 types of gliders, normal gliders (like on most tracks) and cannon gliders (like on maple treeway, Wii rainbow road and Waluigi pinball). With normal gliders, it’s better to trick. But with the cannon gliders, jumping onto the ramp instead of tricking saves exactly 0.1 seconds.
Typically I switch my Wheels to make which track I think will be picked or the one I want picked. I also change Karts and characters as well but my go to Wheels are Azure Roller, Crimson Slim, and the Triforce Tires, with Blue Standard and Leaf Tires for when I want a change of scenery.
The funny thing with the balance of these vehicle parts and characters is that the lighter, slower parts get acceleration, handling, and mini-turbos, which is basically just speed as well, while the heavier parts just get speed and weight, which are pitifully weak in comparison. I think the funniest/saddest demonstration of that is when Shortcat showed the slowest combo in the game outpacing the fastest combo on a STRAIGHTAWAY by having 10 more coins. Ridiculous.
Others have mentioned the bounciness of the monster tires, and it seems like you messed up the double cut in the first lap with the monster tires because of the bounciness.

Overrated Wheels are the Cushion Wheels because they make you bounce when you land.

The sponge tires aren’t really that bad as they barely decrease your mini-turbo compared the roller tires.

I wish there was a white glow in smash brothers to show invincibility frames and also that the stats were more balanced.
