    I've watched pretty much nothing but UA-cam for years. I watch anything from music videos to fishing videos. Out of the 100's of channels I watch 2vintage is the one that excites me the most when there is a new video. I learn tons and straight up enjoy all of your videos. Thanks and keep it up!!! #2vintage

      Hi Joe, I use mag wheel cleaner in a pressure pack can to clean a lot of things, itis very effective. It will dissolve light rust and corrosion as well as clean very well.

      Yeah he started a old KX80 on fire in his garage, the ironic part of it there were fire engine sirens going off close to his House as soon as his started on fire. I believe they were responding to a call at one of his Neighbors. There's no way Possible they were there that quick for Joe's fire!

      Hi, I like how you did step by step trouble shooting. I had a 1980 Yamaha XS 11 Special that had straight 4 cylinders and carburators like on your kawasaki. I remember back in a days I had vacuum measuring device to hook up on each carburator to set it up. I bought it on Ebay, if you intrrested to reaserch and want to have it in your shop, ill ship it to you free of charge. I have a picture and will send it to you. That may help you setting those old carburators.

    Myself and a buddy built one like this 20 years ago. Had a 450 yamaha on a 230 Suzuki quadsport chassis. It would go every bit of 120 at top end. Made me relive some old childhood memories seeing this thing.

    The silencers on the exhaust are for 2 stroke dirt bikes and are probably a restriction for that large of an engine.

    • @alangross2667
      @alangross2667 Місяць тому +1

      They look like F1 slipons that were popular in the late 80's for street bikes.

    • @Stuckin330
      @Stuckin330 Місяць тому

      Even if they were the only restrictions are the size of the pipe that goes into the mufflers and the pipe inside the mufflers . Other than that you can run em on 4 strokes if wanted but only on like 50cc to like 100ccs depending on what the 2 stroke muffler was made for . They look like old school exhaust and the inlet pipe going into the muffler looks like it slides onto the header pipe

    • @Stuckin330
      @Stuckin330 Місяць тому

      Ya then exhaust are deff for 4 strokes you can tell by how bike the inlet pipes are coming from the header pipe into the mufflers . 2 strokes have a smaller size diameter pipe coming off the expansion chamber pipe going into the muffler depends on wats size 2 strokes

    • @ar2043
      @ar2043 2 місяці тому +1

      I agree @mickeyhicks but like Derek at vice grip, when he gets these things running after sitting around for a long time, he needs to let them sit and run and get up to temperature so all the gaskets and seals can "cook in" and "come back around"...... followed by an "Italian tuneup" with some Berrymans B-12 for the first few tankfuls of fuel. Usually Joe will get them running after sitting for months, if not years, and then just "death-rev" them right to the moon. Jesus Joe… Slow down buddy… 🤣🤣🤣 You need to let everything cook in and come back around, especially gaskets.

    • @RGD-Games
      @RGD-Games 7 днів тому

      the KZ750 was 52bhp? with a recorded tops peed of 103mph...
      Another popular bike from that era, was the CB750... which was 65bhp stock.... with a recorded top speed of 124mph....
      So in the grand scheme of things... During that time period.. the KZ750 was actually a slouch....
      One of the slowest 750cc motorcycles during that time period, in fact...

    I can really relate to this level of "rolling carcass" ... I once bought a 2-seat railroad track inspection car. A literal rolling table (4 wheels + chassis) with a pile of "these are all the rest of the parts" stacked on top.
    Pieced the whole thing back together over several months and got its Onan CCKB up and running. It's rolled several thousand miles on the rail now.
    One thing I can suggest with that rat's nest of wires : vibrations + crimped connections = broken wires at some point. You really want solder + heat shrink. Learned that fixing pinball machines (which are nothing BUT vibrations trying to destroy things).
    As for will thing thing go 120mph? On paper, yeah I bet. In practice, assuming it even held together, you'd have to be at least 10 cents left of completely nuts to even think of attempting it.

    Biggest problem is no airbox...... you,d get away with that exhaust. Bike engines are highly tuned , dont like filter resistance dissapearing. Its also to do with the volume of the airbox. Bikes you see running on open carbs are either tuned by pro,s or ridden by people who cant tell the difference

      Yep, spent many late nights on a winter project 1980 Kawa Z650 getting carbs dialed in with pod filters
