@@chrishansen8119 He's talking about the fact that the officials actually put one second back on the clock to give Alabama a shot at a fg to win. They too didn't expect this to happen when they gave in to sabans crying. It's well known in the SEC that the officials often seem to have crimson tinted blinders on. I believe it was in one of sabans first years at Alabama that they went an entire season without an offensive holding penalty. Think about that for a second. It's often said that holding can be called on every single play on an offense if the officials really wanted to call it. Well say just for the sake of even numbers, the offense runs 40 plays a game, 40x14=560. That's 560 times the officials decided nah we aren't going to throw a flag. I don't think that has happened before ever in any level of football..... Because it's impossible.
I remember this game. I was travelling home with my dad and listening to it on the radio when we got a flat tire. We stopped into a tire store to get a new tire and watched the last 10 minutes of this game on a television in the waiting room. We could have left when our tire was fixed but my dad and I decided to watch the last few minutes... That was a moment in my story.
I remember it was right around Thanksgiving and we were staying at a hotel in ATL with family members who attended Auburn. We all watched in the hotel lobby. I will never forget that moment. Never.
I didn’t watch that much college football back then. That being said, on a lazy evening, I woke up from my nap on the floor and cut the tv on. Thankfully, CBS was on when I had turned it off. From that day on, I’ve only watched college football on Saturdays.

@@jimbo-fk4dq not much to tell. this was a hyped game so I decided to watch it and during the 2nd quarter, I heard a gun shot then someone yelling "you idiot! you shot me!" and then more screaming from the apartment complex courtyard. The paramedics and police showed up about 5 or 10 minutes later and eventually carted the guy away. It was funny watching this guy mutter obscenities while on the stretcher face down. My apartment building I was living at the time had staircases up to the front doors of 2 apartments per floor. They closed off as a crime scene the bottom of our staircases so I couldn't leave. Might as well watch this hyped up game. Turns out the neighbor was showing his friend the new gun he bought and his friend shot him while he was playing around with it. Both were not that bright. Friend should never have blindly played with a loaded gun, and the neighbor shouldn't have handed his friend a loaded gun. My complex was pretty safe so this was the first time I ever heard of anyone getting shot there, but it was one of the reasons I decided to move a few months later.

Greatest moment in college football history not only because of Bama tears but that it was Saban who costed them the game. Instead of being content and sending it to OT, he wanted the review and he was the one to send a Red Shirt Freshmen out to attempt a 57-yd field, a field goal some pros may not make, over a shot at the end zone. It’s so beautiful!
They had raved about Griffith all year and the kicks he was making in practice.. Saban wasnt crazy for bringing him in, just crazy for not having better return coverage.
Anton Films I cannot tell you how many people told me how Griffith was known for making 50+ yard field goals in college and hit a “70 yarder” (exaggeration but their quote) in the Georgia Dome during the state championship his senior year. I’m so glad it was him who missed it
Have to disagree. First play of the Miami season in 91 the kicker ran down the field and knocked out the punter. Personal favorite, this is #2 on my list however.
Great vid. Im an overseas Gridiron lurker, and have always struggled to understand why college football (indeed sport) is so massive in the US. However, this does a great job of explaining some a narrative behind a classic rivalry. Love it.
That was, by far, the best recap/analysis of what was - inarguably - one of the greatest college football games in history. So much was made out of the crazy ending that many people either didn’t hear about or have forgotten just what an unbelievablely fantastic game it was from start to finish. This recap not only shows that, it reminds people of the game’s national implications. There are crazy college football plays and endings to games virtually every weekend of every year, but the fact that this ending happened after such a tremendous game, in the biggest rivalry in college football and one of the most passionate, hate-filled and storied in all of sports, and in a game between the #1 and #4 ranked teams with such enormous national implications riding on its’ outcome, easily makes it not just one if the greatest college football games ever, but one of the greatest in all of sports history. It’s one of those rare moments in sports where a huge game not only exceeds the hype, but because it was so good, the rivalry was so historic, the implications were so high and the ending was so crazy - and it was so widely seen and has been replayed so often, that the entire thing transcended sports and became a culturally iconic moment in time. And if anything, this video shows exactly why that isn’t hyperbole.
Saw this game when i was younger but i didnt understand how insane it was until i was older actually inspired me to play football and the "Auburn's gonna win the football game" Still gives me nostalgic chills to this day
RIP Rod Bramblett, the play-by-play on the call. Iconic broadcaster, still missed. Don't drive under the influence. Seriously. People get hurt and killed.
I was at my friends' wedding reception when this happened. Went upstairs to the bar for a drink, didn't realize the game was on until I got up there. Also, kudos to the producers for using the best call of this play (aka not the CBS one.)
As an FSU fan, this was my favorite year of college football in my life. Jamies was insane and won the Heisman as a freshman, watched this game and it was insane, then got to see my first FSU natty in my lifetime. That game winning drive will always be a core memory
This game and the 2019 Iron Bowl this year are two of the craziest endings I have ever seen and I'm not even an Auburn or Alabama fan; just great football from both teams!
I was watching this at a Friday’s for a friend’s birthday party. When it happened, the whole place went crazy. This was in northern Illinois and there was probably only 1 Auburn fan in the entire restaurant.
I remember exactly where I was when this happened. Being an Auburn fan takes years off your life. This is an example of that. Sometimes I need a little boost and Rod's call always does that for me. RIP Rod and Paula Bramblett, War Damn Eagle
Just found this today. Your presentation is epic. I'm biased, but I think this game is one of the greatest ever. Not just because of the ending, but the context (2-time defending champs vs. first year coach, hated rivals, etc.) and the stakes (SEC Championship game, and a shot at the NC). So many outstanding plays from both sides, and so many crucial coaching decisions from each sideline. Each play mattered, as did every officials' call and booth review. Thank you for putting this together.
Anyone love how the commentator's voice increases with each word, as he realizes what is happening. I rewatched those 10 seconds a few times and it gets funnier each time lmao
Dye hard Auburn fans will never get tired of seeing this. My favorite play of all times and AU has given us plenty of plays to talk about. I was lucky enough to have gone to school at Auburn when Bo Jackson was playing.
I was watching this game live, and right when they announced it was going to OT I went out to help my dad bring in the groceries I came back to see the field swarmed by Auburn fans and had to wait for the replay to see what magic had just occurred
Gives me chills to this day. I saw it live and I was screaming and yelling. Not really an Auburn fan but I’ll root for them. I was just tired as most people were if Alabama always being so good.

Yeah, didnt he call a timeout to get a review and they put one second back on because of his timeout?
I'm so glad you used the Auburn radio call at the end. Still gives me chills this is the best moment in college football. Definitely watching again
Still gives me chills. One of the best sports moments I've ever witnessed.
Great vid. Im an overseas Gridiron lurker, and have always struggled to understand why college football (indeed sport) is so massive in the US. However, this does a great job of explaining some a narrative behind a classic rivalry. Love it.
Here because rod bramlett passed away today 😢 war eagle
James Weldon I’m a notre Dame fan but WAR FCKN EAGLE
Amen 🙏
I watched this play at Hooters in Knoxville, on my birthday, and it was the loudest I’ve ever heard a restaurant get.
I get chills everytime yall say *"Welcome to a moment in history"*
Best college football moment in recent memory.
If Auburn would've won the title maybe but Winston made sure that didn't happen.
I was at my friends' wedding reception when this happened. Went upstairs to the bar for a drink, didn't realize the game was on until I got up there. Also, kudos to the producers for using the best call of this play (aka not the CBS one.)
I'm honoured that you think I knew about this game, but I know nothing about American sports. Your videos are so good that I can enjoy them anyway.
Even as a LSU fan this play still gives me the goosebumps, such an unreal play.
I’ve seen a lot of variations of this moment in sports history. This video is the best in my opinion. Well done!

If you know any Bama fans with the last name Davis, call out, "There goes Davis!" whenever they walk by. They love to hear that.
War Eagle.
As an auburn fan every time I see that clip I tear up with joy
As an FSU fan, this was my favorite year of college football in my life. Jamies was insane and won the Heisman as a freshman, watched this game and it was insane, then got to see my first FSU natty in my lifetime. That game winning drive will always be a core memory
*”The Gus bus pulled back into the station”*
(Slow clapping)
watched it live, as an auburn fan it still gives me goosebumps. great video!
Roll 😭 Tears 😭 Roll!
As an Auburn fan, watching this play always brings a smile to my face. 🤣
That kick 6 was and still is legendary 👏
One of the best moments in sports history
This game and the 2019 Iron Bowl this year are two of the craziest endings I have ever seen and I'm not even an Auburn or Alabama fan; just great football from both teams!
War damn eagle! I will never get tired of seeing Chris Davis streak down the sideline and rod bramblett going nuts. RIP Rod Bramblett the 🐐
As a Mizzou fan I was excited to play against Auburn thinking that we were going to get destroyed by bama so that was exciting. Then we got beasted😭😭
I was watching this at a Friday’s for a friend’s birthday party. When it happened, the whole place went crazy. This was in northern Illinois and there was probably only 1 Auburn fan in the entire restaurant.
We were all Auburn fans that night LOL
Thank You Rod
I remember exactly where I was when this happened. Being an Auburn fan takes years off your life. This is an example of that. Sometimes I need a little boost and Rod's call always does that for me. RIP Rod and Paula Bramblett, War Damn Eagle
Ahhhh, red tears are delicious

@@Sooperhans3636 sounds pretty good
Whatever helps you sleep at night.
@Mason Murphy im just going to go ahead an put it at 18>2
War Eagle Baby 👌
Just found this today.
Your presentation is epic. I'm biased, but I think this game is one of the greatest ever. Not just because of the ending, but the context (2-time defending champs vs. first year coach, hated rivals, etc.) and the stakes (SEC Championship game, and a shot at the NC).
So many outstanding plays from both sides, and so many crucial coaching decisions from each sideline. Each play mattered, as did every officials' call and booth review.
Thank you for putting this together.
I don’t know why I torture myself watching this
I finally find a fellow Alabama fan
Boo hoo. Your team is the favorite every year. It's like watching pats fans cry about the helmet catch.
As an Alabama fan I don’t know why lol. But I feel like Auburn should’ve at least won the National Championship that year to make it a legendary year
@@lukeinvictus
The helmet catch was at least a catch.
Don’t worry you will get lots to be happy about tomorrow night after you whoop all of us at Auburn
Dang every time he says “welcome to a moment in history” I just get chills
Anyone love how the commentator's voice increases with each word, as he realizes what is happening. I rewatched those 10 seconds a few times and it gets funnier each time lmao
Dye hard Auburn fans will never get tired of seeing this. My favorite play of all times and AU has given us plenty of plays to talk about. I was lucky enough to have gone to school at Auburn when Bo Jackson was playing.
We need a rewind of the 2004 Tayshaun Prince block
I always get so emotional hearing the announcers being so invested. Sports brings me to tears like nothing else.
Please do a Rewinder of Santonio Holmes' catch @ Super Bowl 43 vs the Cardinals. This game as a whole was crazy.
Yes. I've also suggested this video on multiple comments in the past. Would love to see a reminder on that
Not a catch clearly had one foot in
Finally someone acknowledges the one foot in.
I was watching this game live, and right when they announced it was going to OT I went out to help my dad bring in the groceries
I came back to see the field swarmed by Auburn fans and had to wait for the replay to see what magic had just occurred
War eagle people forget how special auburn is
“AUBURNS GONNA WIN THE FOOTBALL GAME!!”
Gives me chills to this day. I saw it live and I was screaming and yelling. Not really an Auburn fan but I’ll root for them. I was just tired as most people were if Alabama always being so good.
Please do the 2005 Champions League final. It would make an amazing episode. Thanks!
Honestly one of the best if not the best play I have ever watched on tv. This whole game was amazing to watch and the ending was unbelievable
Please do a rewind of The Helmet Catch
They should do Plaxico Burrese's TD
no thank you
no
No god no please no
Do Miami vs Notre Dame 1988
im not even an auburn fan and it gives me chills every time. best call in sports history.
Do a rewinder on Cardale Jones run to the 2015 College Football Playoff National Championship. Dude was ballin' all 3 of those games.
membersonlydave H E L L Y E A H
Watching this still gives me chills down my spine
you should rewind the Michigan vs Michigan state "trouble with the snap"
No. No one should ever watch that ever again. Because it never happened.
@@1TotalJabroni Hmm, pretty sure that exact moment brings a smile to my face 2-3 times a week, pretty sure it was the best moment of all Michigan state fans lives, pretty sure it happened
Blue and yellow tears give me _super strength!_
@@greghmn Maize and Blue my dude.
@@ajbax96 - You know that's strange I just can't seem to recall that play. I mean I try to picture it...but all that comes to mind is a 75 yard touchdown catch by Donovan Peoples-Jones and a score...21 to 7. 😁
Hey SB Nation, I suggested this about a month ago, so thanks for delivering. This happened on my birthday and since I’m a diehard auburn fan(as you can tell by my profile picture) this was my best birthday present ever. Love the series keep it up!
I watched the game in an Applebees in suburban Minnesota and the entire place was going apeshit
Never ever ever will I forget where I was when I witnessed this. Just absolutely amazing
Looks like you’ll need another rewind after tonight 🤦🏾♂️
That field goal thoughhh
Kick Bama Kick!
thats how i got here again :D
Lol
Not only did me and my dad watch this live, but I called it happening. As an LSU fan it was incredible to see Bama lose like that.
I remember being in the student section for the GA game and I sold my iron bowl ticket for $200 to go home and see my GF who was sick....... biggest mistake of my life so far.
Damn bro....
Was at this game and seriously get chills every time I watch it.
I love these series
I remember watching that game, as an Auburn fan that game was one hell of a night and one that I will never forget. War Eagle!
My favorite times in College football:
When Ohio State wins against Michigan
When Auburn beats Alabama.
Well today is your day
Xd ty for predicting
Must suck that Alabama has the most national titles on modern football
Clayton Odom must suck you can’t beat auburn at their home field if they are ranked
@@jaketheloser6214 Ehh the constant stream of titles and national championships while auburn never even sniffs the playoffs is a good remedy :)
Lifelong FSU fan who watched this with lifelong Auburn fans. One of the best moments of my life, only eclipsed by when I watched FSU best them for the title a month later.
Look up the auburn band reaction video if you haven't seen it, it's a classic
Do a rewinder on Sebastian Abreu's penalty in Uruguay-Ghana in 2010
Been asking for this one so long
Unfortunately I don't think they're gonna do another soccer one, because SB Nation is an American sports page.
That would be a good one
More like Asamoah Gyan's miss
That one hurt
So glad yall used the Auburn radio call! "Auburn's gonna win the football game!" is probably my favorite radio call of all time
Aye who came back to this after the 6th anniversary
not me
I came from that and today's lost via doink.
It's actually incredible when you take a step back and realize just how incredible this decade was for sports
I going to miss Rod Bramblett . It sure is going to be weird not hearing him on the radio .
WDE
Announcers at the end are INSANE, that's what I call passion!
