I think 5 is incorrect, as a manager, you should never correct in public. Bringing them to the office is the best solution.

I don't agree with you because I think it's also a way to show other employers not to make the same mistake.

@@esther00962 I see your view. Let's put into a perspective. Let's say you accidentally charged a customer too much money in a store. They come back and tells your manager. Your manager then sets up a meeting with the whole team and you to talk about your mistake.
or: your manager corrects you in private first and then tells the whole team without mentioning who it was but so it doesnt get repeated.
which situation do you preper to be put in?

@@Ewani95 it's not quite the same thing you are a manager in an organization that encourages racial respect someone in the organization said a racist joke intentionally it's perfectly normal to tell everyone not to make the same joke in the case of the shop's employer it was a mistake that should be corrected in private no need to let everyone know it's not a common mistake

There's no difference between b and c in question 4 except the action, but answer b implies the assessment will lead to an action. Not very good questions overall.

  • @anti-imperialistunionofpea9928

Hey, Dr. Catherine Ngahu, thanks for sharing that quiz. I want to give a different feedback on your quiz, because I had very different answers on the questions, but I dont think that necessarily lowers my EQ.
    1. On this one I chose C.
Although you should remain attentive in an unusual situation, it is certainly not helpful to go crazy, as the chances of an actual plane crash are rather low after all, so above all you should try to stay calm and not lose your composure. So I chose to do a bit of both, as the middle ground is certainly the most appropriate here.
2.Here it is not completely clear. Even though it is certainly logical to choose B, the other options all have their justification depending on the situation. I would perhaps add the option of comforting the child, which has not been mentioned here.
    3. This one I completely agree with A, because it is the most logical one.
    4. I am not sure about that, I would rather choose B, because one should ask oneself where the problem lies and how it could be solved. It is possible that a completely new method is needed, which should be analyzed first.
    5. I agree with C, because if you did not intervene, you would not be taken seriously as such a manager and you would also be a miscast as a human being, because you undermine the principles for which you should stand by your behavior.
    6. That is only useful for serious cases, mostly the stress of driving is frequent, you should find a healthy way to relax even in traffic and not take everything so seriously.
    7. I really cant agree with A and would rather choose C. If I learned one thing in live, than its that you cant continue in an escalating discussion, unless you have not got along again. Then, if your relation is OK again, you can continue the discussion, but the most important thing is first to apologize, if you said things you didnt mean. You have to be responsible for what you say, if you continue without noticing that, it might harm your entire relation.
    8. Here option B is useful for nagging problems at work, but maybe for the general fast solution of problems, option D would be better.
    9. I completely agree with D, because a child needs to be shown a way to overcome his fears.
    10. B seems the most logical here, because you already gave up those instrument, so you should not exaggerate when you restart, but make doable steps so that you dont lose interest again.
I hope you enjoy my feedback, it was a pleasure for me to do this quiz and btw improve my english skills.

Thank you so much for your detailed and comprehensive feedback. Many people have commented about the need to revisit some responses but none has offered a way forward like you’ve done. I really enjoyed reading your arguments and proposals and they make great sense. I will definitely consider them in the next quiz. Much appreciated 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

Also, question 6 suggests you should make up a story and lie to your friend, it's completely unnecessary in my opinion.

I'm not sure these answers are for every person. My question number 7. Take a break for 20 minutes and then continue the discussion. What if the other person doesn't want to stop? I would just stop arguing. The other person continues I can't do anything about it. You definitely cannot force someone to apologize. And sometimes it takes a whole hour to collect thoughts and go back into the discussion. What are the real reasons for these questions.

Emotional intelligence is so complex. When this happens to me I, of course, become internally worried. However, I pretend to keep reading and avoid looking because I want to appear brave, since that would make me look stronger, I guess.

After flying over a million miles on airlines, having a good knowledge of how planes are constructed plus the fact at 30,000 feet above the surface of the earth reading emergency escape procedures are useless I’ve decided to stop the test and not think like an hysterical person would.

Everything is more personal when it has to with us. It is a high form of maturity when you dissolve this lack of understanding, we have for our purpose in life. You may not be respected fully, because of always putting people first, but therein lies much emotional healing.

i picked very differently 😂 i guess it depends on how we interpret? some answers didn't even make sense to me.
    1. B) i would like to say i would remain unbothered like A or do both like C, and in a perfect world i would! but in reality i would freak out (on the inside) and be hyper aware of everything around me until it's over. anyone that says they would 'pay little attention to the extremely bad turbulence' (which just sounds like the sensation is: the plane could fall any minute) is just lying to themselves and would act differently irl.
    2. B) i would 100% comfort her and try to help her figure out a better way to play, without bothering the other kids or making them play with her.
    3. B) wouldn't sketch out a plan. i like to be a lil bit more carefree than that, and that seems way too calculated for me. but c isn't it either; the grade matters. i wouldn't do D because.... having social anxiety and all, i'd just feel like i'm being a nuisance to everyone.
    4. B) when i'm failing at something, i always try to workout what am i doing that's making me fail. i try my best to evaluate and see the bigger picture and then, afterwards, fix and try a different approach. it's just C but more thought-out i guess.
    5. D) i'm agaisn't public humiliation and in no place it said that anyone else was making racist jokes. maybe if racism was common in there i would to do it publicly to make the person an example, but otherwise call him in my office and give him a diversity training program after a reprimand, so he could LEARN and grow, not just be berated.
    6. C) in a perfect world it would be B or D, but i've been in this situation multiple times and i'm either quiet or i agree with the person (not exagerating, just agreeing). so that's what i'm answering xD but i did D a couple of times: he could be a new driver, he could be hurrying somewhere in an emergency. so yep.
    7. i've been in this, and the one i've done is D. A would be the recomended to calm down and REALLY collect ur thoughts, but in the heat of the moment i could do D xD
    8. C) in my experience, brainstorming doesn't work as well because people aren't comfortable with sharing unless asked to. in the end of brainstorming, at least when we done it, someone just says 'so what's ur ideas guys?'. not everyone will say 'mine is.....'. if i asked one by one, more than once, i could avoid that.
    9. D) as a shy and introverted person myself, that one xD exposing my kid to new and controlled experiences, but nothing too unbereable, is the best for their growth. if i saw no change, the psychiatrist it is.
    10. realistically, i would do C. this implies i want to do it for fun, so a little practice when i feel like it goes a long way. if i really want to return, 'when i'm in the mood' will be frequent, not scarce. and again, this isn't a job. so no schedule.

Thank you for your feedback. There are many who have expressed the same views especially in training. They question the likely true behavior they would adopt if faced with these exact situations. It’s all quite debatable.
