Reminds me of those balmy summer nights in the UK, 1984, when Tim Westwood would play this on LWR and also had on Electro Street Sounds on cassette. I was 14 back then, now I'm 54 and this tune still does it for me.
Same 😊 great 1984 . WOW DISTANT FARE DISTANT MEMORYS IF YOU/WE THINKING BACK TO THEM DAY WE OLD MEN & THE WOMEN. GREAT MEMORIES THO & THE MUSIC IS STILL GREAT SPOT ON 😊 MAKES ME HAPPY TO LISTERN TO THIS! 😢😊😊😊
I used to run home from school to listen to Tim West wood drive time on LWR plus i used to go to Spats which was a hip hop club he did for under 25s I used to break also in Spats and covent garden also.wicked times
Best ever SAXOPHONE ending to ANY record, let alone a break or hip hop record , an absolutely fantastic saxophone ending, as good today as it was when I first heard it, when it came out over 30 years ago.
I was there too! I tell my kids I was into rap / electro, break dancing and graffiti art back in the day and they just laugh at me like I'm some old codger. I tell 'em there's no school like the old school LOL
This group was headed by PE Bomb Squad producer Keith Shocklee, who was then using the name "Wizard K-Jee" and made a lot of noise in the Queens and Long Island area. This was recorded just before Public Enemy took off, and. as they say, the rest is history! Production is by Charles Casseus, brother of actor Gabriel Casseus ("NJ Drive", "Get On The Bus") and writer of the movie "Takers." Roosevelt. LI proved to be full of talent, spawning PE, Dr J, Eddie Murphy, Aaron Hall and so much more!
I always wonder if it is Chuck D on the mic during the brief rap on here. they had another 12" too called Jazz UP and Hip Hop on Next Plateau Records a few months later in 84
I had this on a WBLS Marley Marl Mix...Real Talk... 1984...I was 17 makin' crazy tapes ..This was on a WBLS Super Mix.Ft. D.J. Marley Marl...Don't even respond!!!
What a trip down memory lane.....electro 4,still got it on tape..lol...timeless classic.......i so wish i could go back in time and enjoy those years once more
This has put a big smile on my boat!Has every ting sax, drum machine,D train vocals etc etc etc.Its what you tube was made for, seeking out old friends and seing...they still rock!
i was 16 too when this came out and have to agree that 84 was probably the best year for electro in my opinion....this was on streetsounds electro 4 if i remember correctly....class tune!!......would do anything to go back in time!!
@@terencebuie2158 The early 80s was so great for this music. I wish I had collected more but there was so much of it. I would just listen to WRBB & WERS (Boston college radio) and thought the good tunes would last forever!
1984 DEF the best year in my Funky opinion, it kinda peaked I think in this year. ‘86 started to go Soulless snares sounding like gunshots (maybe 1975 to 1985 the best years)?
@port2344chester I definitely remember these times. I am from NYC and these were true songs of the 80's. Breakin. Breakin 2 electric boogaloo, Wild Style, Krush Groove, and the all time favorite BEAT STREET. Yeah, I wish we had those times again. I only relive it through old cassettes and VHS movies.
A magical moment in time. 1984, not a worry in the world, loads of friends, South Peckham summer vibes & everybody bumping electro on their boomboxes. Anyone got a Time Machine? 😅
I'm fifty next year and these tunes of this era are still the fucking bomb! Electro series the first ever mixed albums in my opinion. They are so ahead of their time. Remember electro is aural sex!
My late sister Jackie had a remix of that song on her tape since1983. I can't believe that was saxophone player Najee on it before he became famous on his own
God I love this song, one of my favourites off the streetsounds electro series. I remember being given a tape by a lad at school in 1984 that just said 'electro' on it, and loved it ever since!!! Cracking upload.
I was sixteen when this came out - massive thanks to Morgan Khan and the streetsounds crew for bring this sound to the attention of us UK kids at the time who were considered freaks for breaking , graffitti and djing . Still got my technics set up and all my 3 rooms of vinyl - so much for a fad eh !! Keep it alive all you 40plus yr olds out there now - still the best music around !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wish the stations here in Miami played stuff like this. That's one thing about NYC radio: there's definitely a more sophisticated appreciation for the origins of today's music.
haven't heard or thought about this song in probably 15 years and after going through an almost forgotten section of my music collection I got reacquainted with this gem. Big ol' timeless on this one, they don't make em like this anymore
Dayum!!! I remember them playing this at the Silver Shadow in Manhattan. Everybody would lose they mind and hit the dance floor with or without a dance partner; then the DJ would keep mixin' it down on two tables for at least 30 minutes. My feet would be screamin' because of the heels, but I couldn't feel a thang on this song.

Cats across the pond threw down numerous joints that turned many heads in the states as well..its universal .. again thanks for hitting me up.. Peace & 1 Love.. YOUR TUBE FRIEND Port!
OMG! I spent many a weekend blasting this from Electro 4 back in day. This meant something, when the Space Shuttle launched I was convinced it would only be a matter of weeks before the first space-break dancers would be sent up HA!
I know what you mean, I used to regularly tune in to Mike Allen's Capital Radio show.I also used to go to London every other weekend with a mate where we would spend all our pocket money on 12 inch vinyl imports in the legendary "Groove Records".Great times!
