@@jimkaldem5972 wait a minute though...Tom Scholz (played every instrument on this song except drum and obviously vocals) learned to play guitar in 1971. This album was recorded in 1976. He had only 5 years experience on the guitar and did THAT.
I always thought that too when this album came out in 1976 then what sold me on it was the song piece of mind when he sung “ So you’re climbing to the top of the company latter, hope it doesn’t take too long. Can’t you see they’ll come a day where it won’t matter, come a day when you’ll be gone “. It gave me the impression of him thinking, why bother trying so hard at something for so long in life just to die before you get there or soon after once you get it. Like he was already defeated in life and didn’t care either way, if that makes sense.
The guitar solo in Boston's Hitch a Ride has got to be one of the most impressive outro solos I had ever heard when first listening to them in the 70's and even today, so emotionally expressive it fits in perfectly with the lyrics. It's no wonder Boston is still just as relevant now as they were in the 70's.
For me, most Boston songs now come across as a cry for help from Brad Delp. He let us know the best he knew how, and nobody did anything for him. RIP Brad, you had the greatest voice in rock, and you’re missed to this day.
Boston is a great American rock band who had their biggest success in the 70's-80's. They had a lot of great songs such as "Foreplay/Long Time", "Rock & Roll Band", "Don't Look Back", "A Man I'll Never Be", "Feelin' Satisfied", Smokin'", "We're Ready", "Amanda", "Hollyann", "Cool The Engines" etc.
This was the backdrop to my teen years and to this day, remains the only album on which I totally love every single song. Thanks for taking me down memory lane!
Hey Saeed, today the journey beside you is like a giant wheel 😂☺️, now we're going back to my youth. Boston, what memories, their huge hit "More Than a Feeling" is one of my favorite songs of all time. Let's go on...☺️👏
Lets take a stroll down memory lane together. 😃 "More Than A Feeling" was actually my first reaction to Boston. And i also checked out Peace of Mind. Looking forward to more.
Brad Delp, Boston's lead singer did commit suicide in 2007. So sad...He was arguably one of the best rock vocalists of all time. RIP He didn't write this song, however. His bandmate Tom Scholz did. Great song and maybe the greatest debut album of all time. Thank you, Saeed for another insightful reaction 👍
This was great. Your appreciation for Boston was incredible to watch. Fr. They're one of the few bands I love just as much as I ever have. They hit me exactly the same after all these years. ❤ (Kansas as well)
🧊🧊🧊🎇 .... this entire album is mystifying Saeed. I was a kid of the 70s .. and we would listen to this album at many friend's houses... this song especially has such a nagical sound .. I love the screaming guitars , and of course the vocals are excellent. This really made my night to hear this again. I am beyond happy that your smitten with Boston. Looking forward to hearing more on your channel. ..🎇🧊🧊🧊
The amazing thing about this album is that it was recorded in Brad Delp’s (the singer)basement came out in 78 and they were so far ahead of their time imo.. there is not a bad song on this album and it might be the best debut album ever or at least in the top five
This is such a great song. Definitely one of my favorites on the record. It was the best guitar solo. My other favorite is Piece Of Mind, which you already reacted to. Profoundingly, Brad Delp, the lead singer, committed suicide many years later. RIP 😢
Of course you gotta give Brad his props....but Tom Scholz doesn't get enough credit. Forget about his talent and ability to play almost all of the instruments and produce the whole thing in his basement for a sec. The lyrics this man came up with are astonishing. When you pair Tom's genius with Brads angelic tone, you get a gem that happens only once in a lifetime
Verses: Not bad but not their best. For me: B- Choruses: A little better than the verses: B Guitar Solo: Mindbogglingly awesome. Easily A+ (This solo goes to 11)
One of the best classic rock outros ever. Those last 90 secs are pure gold.
When you think that this song and Foreplay/Longtime are BOTH on this album...truly remarkable!

This song could've been a cry for help prior to his suicide. Anyhow, one of the best guitar solos iMHO.
SAD IF TRUE... LEFT US GIFT AND MAY HE REST IN PEACE ✨️✨️✨️

These notes wrap me up like blanket.
That song wrapped like a baby in .
In a blanket. 😊
Best guitar solo ever
I especially love the fat Gibson guitar tone he's getting---they're both getting! Best tone ever!
One of my favorites too man...the emotion...the 1st guitar solo that made me get a bit emotional other than comfortably numb perhaps....amazing stuff
greatest rock debut in history! NEVER get tired of listening to it. I bought in 1976 played in my car oon an 8track player

This is what rock a roll was meant be.
The whole album should be listened to start to finish.
that may be the greatest song ever written....listen to it 5 more times...it only gets better and better and better.

Thats heartbreaking 😞
Great song and amazing band. Looking forward to continue this journey.
Thanks so much for watching.
This song will be played at my funeral.
Thats beautiful! Hope its not anytime soon!
You just gave me a good idea for mine! I was going to choose Guess Who's "Share the Land"
That or dust in the wind maybe both for me because I want half of me buried and the other half cremated but, I want it done before I die 😂

When Brad stops singing, Tom's guitar takes over the singing...

Enjoyed the songs i have checked out so far. Definitely exploring more and Kansas is on my list as well. Thanks so much for watching.
I spent so much time i listening to this album on my walkman while walking along the train tracks on my way to school .
What memories, I also remember myself with my walkman on the bus or walking from home to school or vice versa ☺️. Greetings 👋
Boston.. ❤

The spaceships are Upside-down guitars cool eh !!!! The whole album is just the best!!!!
EAR CANDY ❤
Delp’s vocals were top-tier. I’d put him up there with the likes of Freddie Mercury. The whole album is worth the listen. Cheers!

Sadly, the fellow who sang these melancholy lyrics committed suicide in 2007

What your hearing is a Hammond organ
Thanks for letting me know about that!
