Hi Ken. I also have an interest in international borders. You might be familiar with the various borders your own country shares. I'm in France and I quite like the tri- point near Aachen (Dreiländereck near Vaals). It's the tripoint of Belgium, Nederland and Deutschland. Also, the tri-point of Basel (CH, D, FR). And the friendship pedestrian bridge linking Strasbourg and Kehl
Too bad the JetLag Warriors not able to join in. Great reunion 😊. Enjoy your stay in Thailand. Stay Safe and Healthy everyone. # VeggiesFoodprintAbroad
Great that you all managed to get to Padang Besar, on the Thai side> Looks like someone lost their pants trying to escape either Malaysia or Thailand. Fresh pineapple is one of my favourites. Nothing like back home. Sometimes we put a little salt on, sounds strange but makes it taste sweeter. Same with starfruit. The variety of fruits and vegatables is amazing.
Danok is actually nearer to Hatyai cause it's the border town between Bukit Kayu Hitam,Kedah Malaysia and Thailand but the town it's actually quite dead now due to the pandemic.
Normally the Muslim at the border town on the Thai side can speak Malay. Before Covid, there are all sorts of food and drinks just like what you are experiencing it at Perlis border town previously. During Covid now, a lot of shops and small food stalls are closed.
I'm from Perlis, Malaysia, about 35km to Padang Besar border. I used to go there very often since it's not far away from my hometown. I love the street foods there, as we frequently visit it during Ramadan looking for foods for iftar. What i miss the most is Thai 7eleven. Many great stuff and foods are there. Almost 2 years since the last time I crossed the border. Every day, I wait for the border to reopen again. Thailand is my second country.
Day by day am getting attached to KEN ABROAD at first ken u use to only cover local food around in most of the video but now with time ur also exploring more island village unexplored places beautiful people & Culture this is what i always wished to c ❤️❤️ - May ur channel Outnumbered with success in coming Years keep VLOGGING
FYI, the Thai province of Satun is part of Kedah state once before, they are separated by British in 1909 with Bangkok Treaty 1909, and that's why they are sharing of similarity in term of culture, religion and linguistic.
Hi Ken and friends 👋 how awesome watching Malaysia behind the high fence , I’m sure the guy has been to Malaysia there must be some miscommunication...not during the pandemic I guess 😅 I’ve been to Padang Besar few times you know Malaysian women go there to buy pots and pans all kinds of local products mostly kitchenware really cheap 👍🏻 not sure if there’s a bus service , maybe you could get taxi , van taxi or grab car to go to Hatyai , stay safe Ken 😊
Last year, when Steve and you were at Malaysia border , both of you remarks that it's the time difference. Could walk over the border and celebrate New Year twice. Remember..
I think what the guy meant earlier in the video is that he can't go to Malaysia nowadays, its hard to believe he never went to Malaysia when he is living in a border town.... and also, try speaking to him in Malay... i bet he understands.
Great that you still can remember so many Malay words/ phrases. Guess the uncle who offered you pineapples couldn't understand when you asked him about the eligible age to ride a motorbike. It couldn't be 3 years old. It's illegal for that boy. We do have very young boys/ girls riding on them especially in the kampung.
During your Perlis roadtrip, you were on the other side, Padang Besar, Malaysia. Today, you are also at Padang Besar but on the Thai side. Two different countries, separated by a fence. How amazing it is.... 💪👍
It's awesome! Not many farang will come to this place. Padang Besar is my mother home town. Now it's very quiet town, but 40 years ago Padang Besar was a popular place and business center for Thai and Malaysian to trade all things.

Ken, basically both Padang Besar in Malaysia and Thailand were the same entity. The region was part of Kedah state which is now in Malaysia. After the new border, Padang Besar left in Thailand is placed under Songkhla province. Have a great adventure 👍🏻
Anglo Siam treaty of 1909 resulting in Kedah, Perlis and Kelantan ( 3 Malaysian states) losing territories. Perlis lost Pualu Brsmana, Kedah lost Setul and Kelantan lost Tabal ( now tak Bai) to Siam. But the most tragic part was Britain agreed to Siam' s annexation of Pattani.

That part where you converse with the guy at the pineapple store, is my favourite about your channel. I love your interactions with locals
Agreed!!
it is always fun to see how language barrier works out..🤩
Could you image living in a town that is separated by an international border?
Sounds interesting, right? My sister in law lives in Padang Besar, Malaysia. Her entire family can speak Thai so well.
Where most of us can only imagine...
Its cool right.. I am malaysian.. And your fans 😊
Wow the entire Malaysia MCO crew the border town seems really serene and peaceful - super surprised that the guy had never been to Malaysia!
Don't think he really understand the question, it's impossible n unbelievable he has never cross border even if he can't walk
He understood
Nono no no

It must be such a surreal feeling to stay at the border whereby the other country is just in front of your house!
Definitely yeah
But somehow good business... simply eksport & import 😅

Its in Pulau Sebatik

Good morning beautiful people, I was thinking about Greg💞Jumi yesterday, and nice to see both happy and well with Ken 👏👏👏
