YES PLEASE on the Part 2. Like you said, so much great stuff and to see Steve Cropper and Matt Guitar Murphy rippin it up together with the rest of the crew is special. Speaking of special, your playing is oh so tasty and you add your own special sauce to most everything. And I love the variety of material you have been featuring on your channel. Cheers!
When I was little I used to watch the Blues Brothers endlessly on repeat. Admittedly mostly for the car chases (and crashes). But without realizing it at the time, the movie also has been a huge influence in shaping my musical tastes.
I had the privilege of knowing ‘Duck’Dunn and his wife,June, for about 10 years before he passed. I had pictures with him with some of my guitars. He was a great player and a humble person. Certainly will be missed.
yes please part 2! She Caught the Katy for that sweet Steve Cropper rhythm playing, Matt Murphy playing that opening lick in Sweet Home Chicago was one of my favorite parts in the movie too, so cool!
I normally don’t like musicals, it wasn’t until I watched it the second time that I realized that I was looking at one! It’s one of my all time favorites.
Loved this video… part 2, please! (Also, if we’re talking about musical comedies with great songs with even greater guitar parts, how about The Commitments?). 👍🏻
The best scene in the movie was John Lee Hooker in front of Nate’s Deli. Also, when Aretha referred to Jake and Elwood as “your white hoodlum friends” was hilarious.
1000% agree!!! I love the Blues Brothers. My band regularly does a cover of their version of She Caught The Katy at our shows. I have this movie to thank for introducing me to so many blues artists...especially John Lee Hooker!
Part II please 😊 You just have to write a "rising waters" blues song in Dutch with a lot of references to levees and storm surge and such. Sing it in dutch, we'll get it 😁
PART II is a must! I really enjoyed part 1. I never thought I would want to learn "Rawhide" but it was awesome and everybody knows it and likes it...Thanks GP, you're the best!
Remember hearing the Peter Gun track whilst playing Spy Hunter on the Commodore 64! I didn’t know it at the time, but that’s what turned me on to blues music and guitar in general.
Oh wow! Saw this movie when I was just a kid! The Blues Brothers had the best line up of musicians in that group. Donald duck Dunn. Lou Marini, Matt guitar Murphy just doesn't get too much better. Great story, great cast, lots of comedy and mostly just awesome music! Glad to see you back on the videos Mr. Pilgrim!
Always get a charge out of your videos. You are an ambassador for all of us who play what we love and live what we play. Joy in just playing. They saying dance like no one is watching for guitar players its play like no one is listening. Do it because we can. Always great stuff
@@Szlater Yes and Duck Dunn on bass, Al Jackson on drums, and Isaac Hayes (who co-wrote it) on piano. The major difference is that they had two of the all time greatest soul singers who ever lived singing. Belushi and Akyroyd ain't no singers! lol. Also the original was slower, had a funky beat, and was in a higher key. The BB version is too fast and has no syncopation. Kind of like a bar band version. But, I guess that's what they were going for!!??
I loved this movie when I was like 8 years old and taped the songs on my tape recorder so I could listen in my room. I had never been exposed to these styles of music: Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, Johnny Lee Hooker...wow. Thanks for this, part 2 would be awesome!
Last century our village had a music festival and Steve Cropper played. It was a cold and rainy night, there were only about 50 people in front of the stage while the hockey team's tent was full with people getting drunk. Great music. Some things are worth getting wet for.
Dude! One of my all-time favorite movies! I watched it with my son recently (he's 12) and he really enjoyed it too. Especially the car chase scenes. lol.
what a slap in your face for a 14 french guy in 1980, one year after "Hair"from Milos Forman. it was so good to be slaped at this time. Great choice, thanks
As always, such a great video of the music from a fave film... :))) Up until his death nearly 5 years ago (at an age of almost 97), my Dad and I used to watch 'The Blues Brothers' every year on his birthday. Whilst he only got into the blues 'proper' in the last 10+ years of his life (through me rejuvenating my interest in playing guitar in the mid 2000s), we had a tradition of watching this film together for maybe 25+ years.. and I continue the tradition by watching the film at LEAST every year on his birthday.... So, Fanx! a heap for showing us your approach to some of the great tunes from this film... ...and f'sure, please do another video or two covering the other tunes :)))
GP, another winner! Thanks for the video (seen Blues Brothers countless times) and the Patreon backing tracks. Breaking out the Tele for a gig at Country Bobs. Part 2 please.
Man just found your channel two days ago during a bit of a rut but your enthusiasm and energy has me back playing again. Sorry to hear you left Ireland you will be sorely missed and I look forward to binging on the rest of your lessons!! Slán go fóill !!
Excellent and interesting as always ... the Peter Gunn theme was composed by Henry Mancini, who also wrote the Pink Panther theme ... and so much more.
Great video Pilgrim, your taste in music is exceptional -a follow up video please that covers gimme some lovin’ and some of Duck Dunn’s funky base line on Shake Your Tail Feather
Duh! I have watched this movie more times then I can remember. Matt guitar Murphy. Steve the Colonel Cropper. Mr. Fabulous. Blue Lou. Everybody! Only Blues Brothers 2000 comes close.
Sweet Home Chicago, Gimmie some Lovin' and She Caught the Katy for part 2. Thank you so much for Part 1... I am practicing my ass off to get the JLH feel. Sadly, I can't sing either :) I would also like to order 4 fried Chickens and a Coke :)
Enjoy this video with Study Guide: ➤ bit.ly/3EmMktR
Come on, let me see you shake your tail feather.
One of my alltime favourite movie quotes. 😄
@@mick1967 agree
The soundtrack and movie of my university years !
I'd like ten more parts please.

This man knows how to break down songs to an interesting level, thanx Guitar Pilgrim.😃

Yeah, this movie is chock full of "best lines ever".
The Blues Brothers movie is why I started played guitar 40 years ago. It started a long love of the blues. It continues to inspire me today.
I would love a part 2! This was great.
Yes to part 2, and maybe 3!
1000% agree!!! I love the Blues Brothers. My band regularly does a cover of their version of She Caught The Katy at our shows. I have this movie to thank for introducing me to so many blues artists...especially John Lee Hooker!

My Dad's favourite film, and one of the reasons I got into blues music overall!
Theme From Peter Gunn ~ First song I learned on guitar, 1960, at thirteen. Simple, powerful, dark. Awesome!
PART II is a must! I really enjoyed part 1. I never thought I would want to learn "Rawhide" but it was awesome and everybody knows it and likes it...Thanks GP, you're the best!
Part2 part2 part2 part2!!!!!!🎸🙏
Remember hearing the Peter Gun track whilst playing Spy Hunter on the Commodore 64! I didn’t know it at the time, but that’s what turned me on to blues music and guitar in general.
My father made my watch this when I was a kid. It was instant love. The movie and music are amazing.
You have multiple requests for Part 2.....do it!!!!!! Great stuff!
Agreed! One of the greatest movies of all time! Thom, you should definitely do a Part 2! 👍👍👏👏
Excellent ! You can play ANYTHING ! Always amazed at your talent Thom 👍🎸😎

I expect the part 2. There are so many good songs into that movie
Excellent video you did again 👌
Soul man is often overlooked, but it’s early in the film and it’s great.
Nowhere near as good as the original version by Sam and Dave
@@davidpanzer1166 didn’t the original have Steve Cropper on it too though?

The Blues Brothers is maybe the sole example I could point to of a musical I love.

The sweet home chicago from the movie is so amazing. One of my favorites.
Pretty much my favourite film it absolutely ridiculously brilliant. Thanks for doing something on it.

So good. Greetings from Chicago, we need that part 2!!
Wonderful, that’s the power that kept us alive, 😀

Classic movie! All great musicians in that band too. Any band with Steve Cropper and Matt "Guitar" Murphy on guitar has GOT to be good!
Great video of my favourite music movie! Part two is a fine idea...
yes, I would love a part two and I love the blues brothers.
Great as usual. I love your passion. Sure. Looking forward part 2...

Best thing is when "Sweet Home Chicago" fades to black ... and swells back in as Jake and Elwood bust it towards Chicago! Missus Toronto?
Part deux?! Oh yes! Please!! BTW; your videos just keep getting better and better!!

PG is the best guitar player I’ve seen with a UA-cam channel
Ease up some of us watched Peter Gunn on a little back and white Astor TV in the 50's and remember it. You youngsters.. sheesh
It's true ...there so many great songs from the 'Blues Brothers." My favorite is "Wayne Cochran's " "Goin' back to Miami!"
Ain’t NOBODY can sing like JLH.
AND YES, PLEASE DO A PART TWO.
Brilliant. Please do make another one. 🥺
Loved the addition of the clips. Jake's gall tho..."Blues Brother's.... It should read Blues Brother's..."
