- Опубліковано 5 чер 2024
- Improve your lead guitar playing today with this lesson. We will learn how to play lead guitar with a 4 note box that will help you connect the pentatonic positions up and down the fretboard and also help in learning the notes on the fretboard. This is an intermediate lead guitar lesson but a beginner will gain knowledge from the lesson. Using the structure of the B minor pentatonic scale for these examples. Also this 4 note box shape will help in moving from position to position of the pentatonic scale, and help in memorizing the guitar fretboard. Let me know if this lesson was helpful. Here is a link for the backing track are used in the intro. • Tasty Slow Blues in B ... . Also, here is a link for the B minor pentatonic positions. images.app.goo.gl/ex1gbDJHe9w.... This is the most fun I’ve had making a video lesson in a long time! I’m excited to teach this four note concept to you! Happy jamming, everyone👍
Thanks Rusty for all your work. This makes an old man very happy. I love your style !
@@jamespatton2975 Thanks James! I really do appreciate all your support man👍
Thanks Rusty got me started on leaning the notes. Great lesson.
That’s exciting to hear Felix👌
I subscribed to your channel. I'm an older guy too! I played lead guitar in bands when I was younger, and about 6 yrs ago, I sold all my equipment... a stupid move I know. I recently got back into playing. Bought a *new guitar: Ibanez Standard RG421PB - Caribbean Shoreline Flat with a fixed bridge. I'll re-learning music theory and I'm playing again. You're a good teacher with good skills, thanks for the content!
Sir, as a 64 year old new guitar learner ( been building guitars for years), I have viewed literally hundreds , if not a thousand, online lessons trying to figure out where to start...and I think I have finally found out where...your channel...THANK YOU! It' s finally making sense to me now and I am not so overwhelmed anymore...keep up the great lessons brother.
That’s exciting to hear! You will start having fun. Glad you found the channel. Thanks and let’s talk soon buddy 👍
I'm 62. Been playing guitar since 1968. I'm not very good at soloing but I love picking guitar. This is a really good video to watch or listen to also.
Thank you for your service 1SG
I couldn’t agree more. I’ve been all over UA-cam but always get lost. Just found this channel tonight and I’m super excited that he breaks its down for the beginner like me!🤙
TOTALLY AGREE, also 64!!
Finally someone who can teach !Thankyou Lord
I’m glad to hear that. Thanks.👍
I'm 71 and it's nice to learn something new from a guy like me .Time for me to pick up my Strat and start practicing .Thanks Rusty .
Always exciting to learn something new! Happy jamming Stephen! Thank you for the comment 👍
A huge thank you. I am 70 years old and have been playing the guitar for two years. This lesson of yours is the greatest gift to my understanding of how to play a good blues solo.I like and subscribe, I will devote myself to your gameplay. Once again, maximum thanks. George. 👍👍👍
Thanks so much for subscribing to my channel George! I really appreciate that and we will talk soon👍
I have no background in music except for the cowboy chords I played as a teen. Music language is so difficult to grasp but now having a note chart for the fretboard, you've taught me that "box" and even understood the blue note. Rusty....You helped me get it. Now I need to learn the order of string picking/plucking and I'll be on my way to understanding fretboard navigation. Rusty, you not only teach patiently but you approach with different angles and examples to make sure we understand. Thank you!! I have watched this 3 times already.
I also still get excited when I make connections on the fretboard! Once you have that confidence, it’s easy to play from the heart. Glad you got something from the lesson Dolores. I thank you for your support! Enjoy your week ahead 👍
Rusty, I gotta tell ya man, you're a God send. Every time I jump into one of your lessons a light bulb goes off. Its truly like I've been waiting on this moment for all of this stuff to click and more specifically through the way you present it to me. I can't thank you enough for being the vessel my friend ... you'll be seeing me around. 😎
It’s exciting when things start to click!!! I’m glad that the lesson’s are helpful. Thanks my brother! Talk to you soon 👍
When I started playing the guitar, a friend showed me that exact pattern, and he told me, "that's all I needed to know to play Rock/Blue". That was six years ago, and he was right! That pattern along with studying the five Pentatonic scales, I can now play any key up and down the fretboard. This is a very good lesson for any beginner even though you marked it intermediate players!
Thanks Michael. Yes I was shown this pattern early on myself! A great way to move around the fretboard. I appreciate the comment and checking out the video. Later buddy.✌️
Thank you for Sharing this. 🦦
Rock On ! 🦊
If I would have had just one of these lessons, like this one, when I was 17 years old in 1977, I would be light years ahead in my life long learning process! I really had no idea how it was all connected and had nothing to go on. Oh if we could only go back with such newly acquired knowledge. Anyway, thanks Rusty, So glad I discovered your videos, totally therapeutic!
We all definitely needed videos like this early on Robert! I’m glad you discovered my channel also! Have a happy Sunday🙏
Man I sure feel this comment. I’m with you. Life long searching. And here it is. 👊❤️
We are same age.... 🌹🌷🌹😍😍😍😍
There are a lot of good guitar teachers on UA-cam but you are quickly becoming my favorite. All the talk about scales and modes the others present are just too overwhelming. Your lessons are very straight forward and put some great sounding music in reach of us mere mortals.
Your comment means a lot to me William! Thank you for the support! Most of us just want to have more fun playing the guitar 🎸 That’s what my channel is all about. Keep rockin buddy 👍
Oh man - after 50 years I only now discover this! Maaaaany thanks
Thanks Doug! Glad you found the channel. Talk to you soon buddy.👍
Man, am I glad I found you. I'll be 69 tomorrow, have been running scales and bored to death, wishing I could play the blues. You've given me hope and a roadmap. Thanks. Joe.

A new subscriber! I absolutely love your approach to lessons. I’m 75 and have been playing off and on for about 60 years. I played in a lot of bands in the 60s through 80s, but I was always the front man and/or rhythm guitarist. Several years ago I decided to learn how to actually play my guitars, and my journey has lead me to here! Thanks for what you do. I’ll be around for a while! Cheers, Rick
So glad you found my channel! Sounds like you’re ready to start rockin Rick!!! Thanks for checking out the video and let’s talk soon.✌️

Oh my god! I was watching you explain the three positions of the four note box, and then as soon as you played that fifth note I realized that I'd already learned this as a scale, I just hadn't made the connection like this in my head! This is awesome!
Glad the lesson was helpful Erik! Exciting when we make connections on the fretboard! This will open up the fretboard for sure. Let me know if you have any questions bud. Enjoy your day 👍
Ya musta read my mind LOL.....your last vid had your sign behind you and obscured. I was gonna suggest a new angle ha........looks good and the vid quality is great.

Great videos rusty.,👍 and greatly appreciated.,
Good to hear from you WJ! Hope you take away some ideas from this lesson buddy! Have a great week👍
There used to be an ad in Rolling Stone magazine classifieds every month for years late 70s to early 80s. "Learn to play guitar like Clapton with my secret method." Cost 10 bucks (a lot back then, especially for a teenager.) I bought it. It was 4 Xeroxed pages describing what you teach here for free. Boxes man, Boxes. Thanks!
That’s a great story Michael! A lot of players use this method for structure. I appreciate the comment. Later bro 😎
Unbelievably simple and straight forward! Thanx Mr.Rusty for the beautiful mind share! Peace!

I am not even a guitar player but I love it. What a sound ? Wow,
Much appreciated mate 👍
I've been playing for along time now and it's awesome to see you playing the box notes because it's my goto way of playing. We can get alot of great sounds from this style! Great show great video!
Playing with box shapes sounds different than playing up and down the first position. The same notes but a different vibe. Thanks a lot Ron! Enjoy your Sunday 🙏
Rusty, thank you so much for this. It is very helpful and I will incorporate it into my practice routine. As others have commented, it helps me put together things that I already knew but never connected. Thanks again and keep up the good work.

@@mikereynolds3294 👍
What a great lesson, especially regarding helping learning the notes on the whole fretboard which we are all guilty of not doing.
Yes. Simple but effective way to learn the fretboard. The better you know the fretboard the better guitar player you will be. Glad you got something in the lesson. Thanks bro.😎
I didn't quite get that very last thing, about sliding into the C# note, but that's my problem. I'll just practice with the backing track until it makes more sense.
This was another great lesson!
Hey Crash 💥 the odd chord in that progression is the last chord F#7. The C-sharp note is one of the notes in that chord, so when you slide up to it, it sounds great. But the B minor pentatonic scale sounds great over that entire chord. Progression for sure. But adding the C-sharp note at the end, spices it up. Thanks for taking the time to watch the video. Happy jamming buddy.👍
Thanks Rusty. I didn't know where to start. You're an inspiration.
You’re welcome! I’m so glad you got some thing from the video! Thanks a lot for watching👍
............."WHOA!!!!!!!!!!!"......THIS IS TOTALLY, MIND-BLOWINGLY, AMAZING, AND SIMPLIFIED!!!!! WTF??!!!... SOMEBODY SHOULD'VE PRESENTED THIS EXPLANATION, LONG AGO! THANK YOU, SO VERY MUCH, RUSTY!!!!!!!!!!!! I AM ETERNALLY GRATEFUL!!!!!!!!!
Glad you liked the lesson bro 😎 Have a great Sunday 🙏
