    I think this song is about missing someone or missing family..when you are far away. Thank you for sharing your interpretation. It sounds more and more like that is the one that Aurora had in mind as well, as you're the second person to say this.
      Fully agree with you that she is lovely 💕

    Just my interpretation:
    Aurora is not really a 'religious' person and she also wasn't 'religious', when she wrote this song.
    Imagine a 11 or 12 years old child facing serious loses in it's life (which supposedly happened to Aurora around that time) and missing someone so badly, that almost everything reminds of that lost person ("I saw a face in the sand But when I picked it up Then it vanished away from my hands" and "I was painting a picture. The picture was a painting of you. And for a moment I thought you were here. But then again, it wasn't true").
    So it should not be astonishing, that 'she' felt just like a 'runaway child' at that time, but then noticed, that there is a 'soft place to fall' for her (which she several times identifies as her mother's arm) and that in her point of view 'home' was always (and would maybe always be) her parents house.

    • @AleksReacts
      @AleksReacts  2 місяці тому +5

      Oh, I am not religious either. Actually, I'm agnostic. It's just that heaven is so colloquial these days that it doesn't need to correlate with the religious sense of the word to be understood.
      Your interpretation is definitely far more beautiful than wishing one wasn't alive, so I think I will adopt that one. Thank you!

    Great reaction. Aurora started writing music and lyrics to help herself process her emotions, her lyrics are always meaningful. As she sings her songs, she usually goes right back to the emotion that the song was created from, only a few songs are what you would call personal, mostly what she creates is from observing people, like I Went to Far, that was first thought of when she witnessed someone trying to fit in and be loved and part of a group (I think it is based on school clicks, but I could be wrong), but basically it is just about not being in a relationship that is not reciporated in the amount of love that you give, where they just take. She is my favorite multi talented artist, her voice has matured very much since this performance (about the last 2 years) and her lower register now is so warm and rich and she can still hit those impressive high notes that you haven't even experienced yet. Thanks, looking forward to more Aurora on your channel, hopefully soon.

      @@AleksReacts Me neither. But if you take it as a series of images and do not expect a coherent story, than your brain has more room to connect it all together in the end. Aurora's songs usually tell a story, but some phrases might come from one character of the story, and some from another point of view. Like when you cut from one scene to another in a video, but in the lyrics you can't see the cut, obviously. But some reactors do not hesitate to go through the explanations of the songs on genius or somewhere to make sense of the song, which is totally cool with me. Some also read a few comments from under the video, which is also very nice and adds another dimension to the reaction. But anyways, this is just my random rant :) Take care.

    Don't try to be too analytical or literal with the lyrics. Aurora is deliberately ambiguous with her writing so that the listener can interpret it as they want.
    She tends to go for the emotional hit rather than the detailed story although many of her songs are triggered by a real occurrence and written as a 'therapeutic' release ...

    Very, very good reaction, Aleks. No wonder you are confused, as many of Aurora's lyrics leave a LOT of room for interpretation. Hence why her music resonates with people from widely different walks of life. Aurora WILL make you feel and reflect, the way art is supposed to do. I saw that you declared yourself as an agnostic (I am as well), but I don't know if Aurora would even call herself that. I am quite positive I have heard her say in interviews that she does not believe in God, and the way I have interpreted it from the way she says it, it feels almost as if she rejects the possibility of a God. I may very well be in deep water here, so hopefully someone will chime in and give their two cents on it. Anyway, Aurora is an extremely complex and highly intelligent human being, and there aren't many (possibly none) like her out there. At least not in her business. Keep listening and reacting to her, and you will peel more and more layers off of the Aurora onion (and just like an onion she probably WILL make you cry at some point). But unlike an onion, I don't think you'll ever reach her very core. Please prove me wrong down the line 🙂 Btw, just the fact that heavy metal is her preferred genre to listen to, speaks to my point about complexity I think 😅 Take care! Much love from Norway ♥♥♥♥♥

    • @AleksReacts
      @AleksReacts  2 місяці тому +2

      Same as Ren, she has that quality to make me think about what I'm listening to. Hence, I like her automatically. Also, like Ren, she combines her musical talent beautifully with the lyrical one, so while thinking, however heavy the song may be, you still enjoy it.
      As an agnostic, which I think is the closest definition of my relationship with deities, I don't mind either way if people are complete atheists or very religious. That is, as long as it pertains only to their own relationship with God that is unrelated to anyone else's (i.e. they don't force others to agree). I've also found that this relationship sometimes changes over time / with experience, so nothing is set in stone. Therefore, Aurora's or anyone else's belief, whatever it be, is fine with me. 😊
      Now, the fact that heavy metal is her preferred genre is something entirely different - something I understand very well and makes sense to me listening to her lyrics. I used to listen to the mainstream, popular metal in the 80's and the 90's (my teenage days), so I very much understand that it is often the type of music that prompts reflection. As a kid, I loved the lyrics in metal as much as the music - they're often far from shallow, which is probably the first thing people would think about that genre. Noise and no substance. Um, nope, not really. 😉
      We'll keep exploring Aurora together. She's not getting as many views as she should on my channel (perhaps yet), but who cares as long as the ones we share are GOOD. Love to Norway! ❤❤❤

My VERY best friend in the world, he was my best man when I got married, and I was toastmaster in HIS wedding, is a Christian, as well as his wife. He respects MY view and I respect HIS. The way it should be, really. And I also agree with you in regards to heavy rock or metal, in that the genre is NOT as shallow as many may think. In addition, that is the genre where you will find the very best instrumentalists I think. AND the most beautiful ballads 🙂
      I like the comparison to Ren, it is one that I have not drawn myself, but I see your point. He is an exceptional artist as well, and one that I have been following since he was recovering from what he described as his most difficult period ever. Soon thereafter he released HI REN, which is an absolute strike of genius in my opinion.

      It makes a lot of sense that we agree in many things. I'm pretty sure most of the people who "put up" with my reactions are pretty much both set in their ways and open-minded at the same time, which I think is the coolest. We know exactly who we are and don't have any types of identity crises that make us force our opinions on others. That's what I've gathered from most of the comments all over the channel. LOVE THAT!
      I don't mind the number of views, I started doing this for my own enjoyment first and foremost. Yes, the channel is monetized - can't hurt. On the plus side, not worrying about views allows me freedom to choose to react only to artists who are new to me, but I find out I actually like them. If the channel does grow, at least I'll be able to promote only artists I want to hear myself.
      A couple of times I started a reaction and gave it up as it just didn't do anything for me at all... The reaction would be my very still face and no words at all. 😂 Luckily, most of the suggestions turn out to be really good. Thanks for that!

    I really like watching your reactions to Aurora and Lara, so thoughtful and insightful. I discovered Aurora 4 years ago and unlike a reactor I had the opportunity to go back to the beginning and watch everything I could to catch up and watch everything since then. I see a theme to many her songs which she has not pronounced to be fact, but lyrics in her songs “Take me home”, “I don’t belong here on earth”, “If I stay here any longer I will stay here forever”, “ I long to be lifted up”, “mothership to take us home” - seems to me she is more acutely aware that we are spiritual beings placed here on earth to have a human experience and doesnt feel like she fits in and wants to go home. I am unsure if you know this about Aurora, but she wrote songs just for herself as early as age 6 like if she was writing in a journal. As a child when she wrote this song having those feelings - I can see why the emotions are all over the place trying to make sense of how she if feeling.which could explain why the song feel all over the place to you

    • @AleksReacts
      @AleksReacts  2 місяці тому

      Thank you so much Kimberly! Actually, what you just said is how I first thought of "heaven" she's mentioning in the song. Simply some other place, not here on Earth, so your take makes a lot of sense to me. The song being all over the place is also fine. To put it simply, for me it was more happy than sad - hence the title of this video.
      Both times I watched her, it is primarily her singing that is captivating, but it's just fun to pick the lyrics apart as well and try to analyze the way I perceive it. Whether it is correct or not is less important to me. To this day people are still trying to figure out some of the greatest poets and still disagree on the meaning of some poems, but it doesn't take away from the beauty of those poems. Just gives us food for thought. One of such poets is Jim Morrison. 😂 Believe it or not, she somewhat reminds me of The Doors lyrics - none of it really makes sense, but some of the it reminds you of random things/feelings/ideas/real or imaginary places.
