    Thank you @FretsOnFire for introducing Pelageya to me! You said any song, but since I had already searched Alfonsina y el mar by both Mercedes Sosa and Lara Fabian, this one was near the top of my search. Luckily, I might add. She really has an excellent voice.

      Hi Aleks! I had not heard this song before, so of course I haven't heard Lara or Mercedes' versions - I'll have to check them out now! Lara's one of my absolute favorite singers!! Beautiful song, and I liked Pelageya's version. I'm glad you liked her! I haven't seen anything about Maria, I'm sure you haven't gotten to her yet, it sounds like you have quite a backlog of requests! Very nice reaction to this song.😊

      Thank you so much, Joe! Hearing Pelageya sing this one was great - I am so glad you introduced me to her. I managed to find Mercedes on my own, thanks to suggestions for this song, but she has enchanted me. Lara I already know and as before, she didn't disappoint. With all the interactions in comments this is more and more fun.
      As for Maria, no, not yet. The backlog is huge and balancing it all is not an easy task. Then again, I don't plan to stop reacting. I really enjoy it, so there's plenty of time to discover more. ❤

      I really enjoyed the one I recently reacted to in Russian. It seems like her voice is made for songs such as Horse. Right now, my plan is to keep exploring her channel for songs in Russian and then move onto some others. 😊

    Many thanks for your lovely reaction!
    There's the fourth version of Alfonsina y el nar worth of your reaction. That's the rendition by Fabia Ribordao from Portugal.
    Now back to Pelageya. She's one of the best Russian female voices, extremely talented and impeccable. Since her early childhood she was marked by the God.
    If you pay some of your time to her I'm sure you will never regret.

      Thank so much! Seems there are 3 more I haven't covered yet (Dulce Pontes, Tosca and now Fabia Ribordao), and I have already recorded the 4th by Natalia Lafourcade from Mexico, but it is currently blocked. I guess we'll have to wait a while for that one and hope the block is taken off or find a different medium to publish it. However, I will do another series reactions to Alfonsina y el mar, but after a longer pause. I believe 7 in a row might be a bit too many.
      As for Pelageya, I really enjoyed her voice, it's both very pleasant and clearly honed. Therefore, you might be glad to hear that someone already suggested the song Horse and if all goes well I will relatively soon record a reaction to Pelageya & Lyube - Horse. Seems like it's a traditional Russian song and I have been told that she's the best at those. Thank you again! ❤❤❤

      I think a big part of the fun for me are the comments, so I try to reply to all. I do hope we'll both enjoy Pelgeya again pretty soon. I've also corrected the entry with Fabia's full name. If I haven't said it before, welcome to the channel (I believe you're relatively new to it). ❤

    Lara's musical performance IMO is the best. While it is Mercedes Sosa's song, a Lara cover (always) adds a difference and something more to the original.Eexamples, the clarity of her tone, her pitch perfection and her hand expressions while sitting. It also joins her wide repertoire on women's stories. I appreciate your analysis of how they interpret the poetry although I don't get the nuances. Please bring on the other you have in mind!

    • @AleksReacts
      @AleksReacts  Місяць тому +1

      I cannot decide. I think I'd probably say Mercedes Sosa's is the best for me, while Lara and Pelageya share the 2nd place in my book. But the distinction between the quality of these 3 versions is so miniscule, while the performances are all very different. Honestly, I'm simply counting myself lucky to have heard them all, considering this song allows for such a range of emotional interpretations that I wasn't even aware of until I heard all 3.
      As for the poetic interpretations of mine, it mainly relies on what I felt in the way each one of them sang specific verses - Mercedes more compassionate and mournful from a third person perspective, Lara more passionate and turbulent as if she was singing of her own life and the desire to change the outcome, Pelageya more sorrowful, also mostly in first person, but with a feeling of acceptance. Perhaps it's just me, but that is how I felt when listening....

    Hello again, Aleks. I have been listening to Pelageya quite a few times before, but I had never heard this one. But I have to say that I REALLY liked this version. I have heard her sing in different languages, and I know that both you and I can appreciate that a lot. Pelageya has a very beautiful and versatile voice, but I have mostly heard her do ballads and kinda traditional folk songs. Somehow I just KNOW that she probably could sing whatever she wanted to, she has that kind of voice IMO. I'm curious to see what you think of Natalia Lafourcade's version now.
    Much love from Norway ♥♥♥♥♥

      I liked this version as well. So far, all 3 have really been great. Natalia's the only one left that I will react to.
      Also, I agree with you that Pelageya has a very pleasant and beautiful voice and yes, an ear for languages as well as for music combination kind of is something I love to hear.
      So, as for Pelageya, I'm sure I want to hear her sing in Russian i.e. her mother tongue. Don't know how popular she is, but I'll do another one anyway.
      About a week or so until Natalia btw. Love to Norway ❤️❤️❤️

      @@AleksReacts Pelageya probably isn't all that well known outside of Russian speaking countries, but it seems like almost everyone who hears her ends up loving her music. If you want to hear her singing in Russian, try her interpretation of "Kalinushka", it's a traditional folk song which she updates a bit in her style.

      @@AleksReacts It`s Slavic, the same as Serbian :) But from the eastern-Slavic subgroup, and Serbian is in the southern Slavic one. Morу or less, the difference should be like between Serbian and Polish.
      That is ok for me to write in English. Moreover, I do not use it much lately, no job contacts, do not travel abroad, so take my chance to practice. Besides, you have audience from other countries, so they don`t need a translation.
      Though Google is good in both Russian and English now, you are right.

    dear Aleks, I think this is also a great intepretation of Alfonsina y el mar. But I have to say that I'm a little distracted by her pronounciation. Therefore I don't feel the pain of the song as much as with Mercedes and Lara's version.
    This is not by any means a disregarding of her talent and style, but it didn't reach into my soul. For me it felt a little disconnected, and that was just the strongest quality of the version of Mercedes and Lara, each in their own way. And the lower register gives their version for me a feeling of drama and it makes it more heartfelt and even gut wrenching. But that's my opinion.
    I love the way you react, so open and honest, without hard judgement. That's something I must learn to do more. Must be my Dutch 'tell it like it is' mentality.
    So great reaction, and I liked the fact that you let me hear another version to compare with the ones of Merdedes and Lara. Sorry for my reaction.
    In all honesty, I really like the version of Dulce Pontes , song like a Fado, much beter then this one from Pelageya. BTW I love the folksongs in Russian by Pelageya.

    • @AleksReacts
      @AleksReacts  Місяць тому +2

      Dear Gerda, I only felt the "Ds" to be a bit weirdly pronounced, but again, I don't speak Spanish. If I felt/heard more, I'd be distracted too (like I was with Diana in one of her songs). As for the register, I agree with you that the lower register enhances the drama. Still, maybe because I've been reacting to the same song multiple times, I really enjoyed the change of register here. On the other hand, I did not expect to like all 3, so it's very understandable that not everyone will. I thought at least one would disappoint me - so far, nope. 😊
      Btw, the Serbian mentality is also very direct and personally, I embody it rather well. Not diplomatic enough by far compared to some other cultures. I value honesty and think it more important than, well, almost anything. Therefore, I'm very glad you said it like it is. Thank you for that! ❤
      Finally, after a long break, I plan to do Dulce Pontes and Tosca too, as recommended by an Italian viewer. We all know they know what they're talking about when it comes to music - they sing when talking. 😂

    You are at the third interpretation, you are missing Pontes and Lafourcade, but I found you another one sung by Tosca (a very famous Italian singer) who sings it a cappella and with a fast tempo. It is very different from the others but it is worth listening to other versions too. 😉 ua-cam.com/video/4ulcw7do3JQ/v-deo.html

      Lafourcae will happen for sure. Now, I do want to take a break, but I will go back to it and add both Pontes and Tosca. It's just rude to keep an acapella Italian version out. Also, since you mentioned Pontes twice now, something tells me I should hear it. No promises on the timing, though. Thank you for adding Tosca - the description sounds enticing. @AleksReacts  Місяць тому +2

      Thank you for the comment. Personally, I liked the change. Also, I have to say I think not any singer could do this specifically. There's much more here than just a higher register in my opinion. The changes in her voice, the control and her lower tones, the vibratos, etc. that are rather hard to do based on my limited experience. Then again, it would also be boring if we all liked the same songs/singers, so I respect this isn't to your taste.

      Sorry, but it makes no sense to characterize someone as "stupid" for not liking a song/singer. It is a matter of taste.
      I am going to assume that it was a language barrier that stopped you from expressing yourself politely in this case. Anyway, I do plan to react to another Pelageya song and maybe her Russian songs will affect Allegra differently. Or it's just that Pelageya is not to her taste, which is fair. We can't all like the same things.

  • @frankbirch3877
    @frankbirch3877 Місяць тому +1

    Don't like this version. She has a "soupy" delivery, sliding about ( on some occasions avoiding correct pitch) in an attempt, I guess to make it more emotional. Very muddy. Very messy. Maybe the Russian aesthetic? Also probably too slow.

    • @AleksReacts
      @AleksReacts  Місяць тому +1

      I would agree that in some instances it was too slow for me as well, but I liked the breaks in pitch that I think were intentional. In my mind, it felt like her heart breaking, so it fit. However, I didn't feel the messiness - to me it felt very much planned exactly how it was performed. Still, each song/singer affects different people differently. That's why I thought it would be interesting to hear 3 very different singers in the first place. I think all of them felt it differently as well - like we do. 😊
