Loved your reaction.
Aleks, knowing how much you appreciate quality a capella voices, AND, as it is the Christmas season, here is a link to Pentatonix singing "O Holy Night" as well.......recorded last year after Avi (the bass) left the group ua-cam.com/video/ReJAU2mXm8w/v-deo.html
Absolutely beautiful harmony, songs like this bring the spirit of Christmas closer to the heart. 🎄🎅🏼
Amen ! 👏
Hey Aleks, I had a long day and will get up again at 4 for another market tomorrow morning, so only quickly, I saved your reaction to watch before I go to sleep... - I'm not sure if I heard this one by Home Free, beautiful indeed! Has me think of two things: a) An really incredible musical genius by the name of Jacob Collier. As the true genius he is he does all kinds of stuff, but what came to mind here was some music he wrote for choir "World O World" and performed with one of the best choirs in the US. The chords and harmonies he's using are completely incredible, will give you goosebumps all over, it's like this one, but in the next dimension, as if each member of Home Free and Pentatonix combined had like a dozen different voices at the same time... Overwhelming 2.0., actually I'm quite sure some of your music nerds subscribers must have suggested Jacob before? And he's still so very young, I can't even imagine what he'll do in a decade. Unfortunately I won't live long enough to witness what he'd do in 50 years... b) Of course I had to think of the same song sung by RAYE which we'll hear soon... Imho she doesn't have to hide, actually as a Christmas mood song I prefer her version, but that's a matter of taste, not of the one being better than the others... Now I'm happy White Christmas isn't available anymore :) as now you will have something to relate and compare it to and a lot to talk... :D Good night, can't wait for the Polish-Serbian collab... Edit: P.S.: Couldn't resist before really going to sleep to rewatch RAYE's rendition: Yes, for me, without any doubt... She's shining like the star of Bethlehem... Pure soul!
Hello, Aleks! I took the easy way out and waited a few days to comment, as I knew my fellow Angels would come to the rescue and fill you in on some details here. And I was not wrong 🙂 I really loved what you said about the colors contrasting with the music, and most of all, with her voice. You have an amazing ability to describe what you feel. All in all, this is a very beautiful rendition of the song, performed by my favorite singer in the world 😊 Now, if I don't see you before, have an amazing Christmas season together with your loved ones ♥ Christmas hugs from The Sharkster ♥♥♥♥♥
Yo! Gigi is an absolutely amazing singer, but one that I haven't listened a whole lot to, despite our friend Kiddo's repeated attempts. I like what I hear, but I feel no REAL incentive to really deep-dive. I always appreciate your honesty, Aleks 🙂 A rare quality in this biz. Or in any biz for that matter😉 Love from Norway ♥♥♥♥♥
Jesus ! You bet you don’t know many Christmas songs ! I don’t say this because I’m French, but Holy Night is probably the most internationally famous Christmas song. Besides the inevitable No. 1 performer Mariah Carey and perhaps also Celine Dion and Kerry Roberts, the great voices to remember would include above all the most extraordinary specialist in Korean Gospel, the "Female Dimash," Sohyang, along with her friend, the beautiful Park Ki Young. Let’s not forget some Europeans like Sissel or Celtic Woman. But especially the Filipinettes Charice, Gigi, Katrina Velarde, Morissette Amon, Regine Velasquez, Moira Dela Torre… Among the kids, we must mention the very interesting 15-year-old Filipina Serena Onassis, the adorable 11-year-old Dutch singer Amira Willighagen, the Indonesian Lyodra, the TNT Boys, Angelica Hale, our friends Lucy and Martha, and so on, and so on.
Lol, you're killing her... Out of your bouquet of artists I'd go with Sohyang for this song... Mori might be interesting as well, for this song it takes some deep soul...
@@Hundhammer Dura lex, sed lex !
@@continentzero7572 Bona nox!
@@Hundhammer Right, Sohyang is also my N°1, but Sissel and Lucy aren’t without soul in this Gospel.
@@continentzero7572 ...wait until the 29th on this channell...
Hello, Aleks! Thanks for a very, very good reaction to MY favorite among the acapella groups 🙂 This song is very beutiful, regardless of religious views ofc. At least on your own time, I'd love for you to listen to a recording from the late 50s by a HUMONGOUS Swedish voice belonging to a man by the name Jussi Björling. Yes, I have to somewhat reluctantly admit that even in Sweden they have had (and still have) some really great singers😅 To find the video, just copy/paste this : Jussi Björling - O Helga Natt Take care, Aleks! Love from Norway ♥♥♥♥♥
I was introduced to Gigi a few months ago, and I think she is very talented. This isn't be best I've heard, but it's OK. I think I'm leaning more and more into the jazzy version of Christmas songs these days. But they need to be done in a chill and calm way. I guess the too happy and too cheerful, or belting becomes a little annoying to me. I think we're on the same page.
I agree, this is such a beautiful version of this song. With funny text comments along the way 🤣. Thank you, wonderful reaction again. Interesting, I'm not a religious person either, Aleks. But I've always been open to the possibility that there could be something more than what we humans understand. There are more questions than answers in this life, it feels like. Maybe Valhalla is real after all 🤣
"Something more than what we humans understand" ? Easy ! We understand nothing ! We know nothing ! Not what reality is. Not what the universe is. Not what consciousness is. Not what life (or death) is. We are completely ignorant of everything that truly matters. So, what to do ? Should we invent a concept (or worse, a character) like God, and continue sleeping peacefully under the sedative of belief ? Or should we dedicate our lives to prioritizing the effort to dispel our ignorance about all these essential things ?
@@continentzero7572 Great points and good questions. Not sure if I agree that we understand nothing, but I get your point. In many ways, humans are like toddlers, fighting each other over trivial things. If there's a creator, maybe it is some advanced alien race who is conducting experiments in a petri dish called Earth. Who knows. Until we know the answers, music helps us keep our sanity :)
@@tolun99 Once again, I’ve expressed myself poorly. Of course, we have some knowledge about how life works or what the universe is made of, but what I meant was that we have absolutely no idea what it is. Take someone five minutes before their death and five minutes after. Analyzing their chemical composition, their cells, their molecules, reveals no change. The heart has stopped beating, but that’s not definitive proof, as it can start again. Even the brain’s electromagnetic activity can resume. We know all this. But we don’t know what life is. Just as we don’t know what the universe is. Energy? Waves? Information? Something else? That’s what I meant by "we know absolutely nothing." The word "know" has many meanings. You know you exist. But you don’t know it because you read it somewhere or because someone told you. You know it because it’s a natural self-evidence. But this kind of natural self-evidence doesn’t apply to knowing what life, death, the universe, consciousness, or reality are. It’s this type of innate knowledge that we are completely ignorant of. Our only absolute, innate and real knowledge is that we exist. In terms of knowledge, that’s really the bare minimum.
@@continentzero7572 Wow great perspectives. You're the type of person I would love having a discussion with over a couple of beers (or coffee if you prefer). Are you a philosophy student by any chance? I don't know if we will ever find the answers to what life is. Not the meaning of life, either. It's different to each person, or maybe the meaning is the search itself.
@@tolun99 Is knowing that you exist an answer ? Answers teach us nothing. At 76 years old, yes, I'm still, if not a "student," at least a disciple of philosophy, but only in its etymological sense : philo = love, and sophia = wisdom. In other words, my discipline is to love wisdom... because it's better to love than to seek answers.
Greetings from Scotland! If you need a venue to sing this - this will do! 😊What a beautiful example of a capella singing at the highest level! The capabilities of combined voices in harmonies is astounding isn't it! The acoustics in this place would have been amazing too! I believe this was 10 years ago! How come I never heard this before! 😮
Yes, yes and yes! After hearing Man of Constant Sorrow, I must say this was NOT the next thing I would have expected to hear! From funny and playful to this serious and just plain beautiful performance should be a long way to go, but obviously not for these guys. I like them even more now! ❤❤❤
@@AleksReacts That's good! 😊
Left to right Rob - Tim - Adam - Austin - Chris
Thank you! ❤
The guy in the cowboy hat is Chris Rupp. Chris is the beatboxer’s older brother and the founder of Home Free. HomeFree started at the end of 2000, and in May 2016 Chris left to pursue other projects, that’s when Adam Chance joined. Adam Rupp is the only original member left. The other three joined between 2008 and 2013. Tim was the arranger of this song for them.
Thank you so much for this! I really tried to figure it out through a Google search after recording the reaction, but I still wasn't exactly sure based on photos which members took part in this performance. Some look a bit or a even a lot alike. I'll learn, one song at a time. ❤
@@AleksReacts - Rob always looks the same. - Adam Rupp, as the beatboxer is usually obvious. Though his hair is always different as he donates it for wigs to kids with cancer. - Post Lockdown Tim, the bass, has shorter, greying hair. Before mid 2016, the guy usually in the hat is Chris Rupp. After May 2016, the guy usually in the hat, and with a beard is Adam Chance. Before this summer, the thin guy is Austin. Since then, the high tenor is Adam Bastien (Bas teen). Good luck. Most of us HomeFries will be patient.
Thank you @errolowl1, @JohnBare747, @joenewman6494, and many others for suggesting the Home Free rendition of this particular song! This shows a very different side of them compared to Man of Constant Sorrow. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all! 🎄🎄🎄
Thank you so much, that was a lovely reaction to a beautiful song! This is my favorite rendition of my favorite carol and it never fails to lift me up and fill me with joy - and your description of the feeling of this song captured that perfectly! For yet another facet of Home Free, that silly song at the end 'Full of Cheer' will do it :)
Hello Aleks. I am not certain if you've seen this already, but if you haven't, I invite you give yourself a Christmas treat by looking at Angelina's performance of "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" ( ua-cam.com/video/gbkH6WLD3MI/v-deo.html ), at a Christmas Concert recorded on December 23, 2021 (shortly before she turned 16). This may sound like a bold statement, but this is irrefutably the single most beautiful, heart-melting version of this classic that I have ever heard. Her jazz roots shine brilliantly through, as do the warm richness of her tone and her perfect control of her instrument. And never before have I heard vibrato sound so utterly luxurious! The icing on the cake is that she is accompanied by some musical legends , like Jimmy Zavala on sax, Shelton Berg on the keys, Greg Fields (Fidelman) on drums, and Charles Berghofer on bass. This is not specifically a reaction request - if you have not already done so, of course we would love to see your reaction - but principally a suggestion that I think you will personally enjoy.
Wow!!!
❤

Happy Holidays, Aleks! not a "Jazz Guy", so this isn't really for me....but I do like her voice and will listen to other performances....thanks for the introduction to Gigi......
Thank you, Larry! I'm ambivalent towards jazz, some performances I love, others are not exactly to my taste. Usually the ones where the melody disappears into improv... but, like you, I think her voice is quite beautiful, so I'll explore further. People say her renditions differ greatly. Happy holidays to you and yours! 🎄❤🎄
@@AleksReacts We both rercognize improvisation can be a large part of musical inspiration, but in this case, maybe 'not so much' ? srec'ni praznici i tebi (hope that's correct!).......

Thank you so much! Tastes differ and I am glad that we can both appreciate the beauty of her voice, even though it seems this arrangement suits you better than me. Btw, people pointed me to the other version of this song, where she sings in a black shirt, and I admit - I liked it better. Just enough improv, but not too much for my taste. I'll gladly listen to more by Gigi. She has a very pleasant voice and seems to be a sweet young lady, too. I've jotted down the many suggestions including yours and will explore further. Thank you kindly for giving me a shot and for your comment! ❤❤❤

Greetings from Scotland! Hi Aleks! I just wanted to ask you to watch this video quickly - a young Indian girl who demonstrates how she can sing in 22 different languages!!! ua-cam.com/video/-G7W5FPP8_Y/v-deo.html I am blown away!!!!!!!
This little girl is absolutely remarkable. She can sing and has an incredible ear for capturing the musicality of every language she hears. So, a sharp ear and beautiful vocal cords. Of course, we’re mostly amazed by the quantity rather than the quality (in my native language, French, I couldn’t understand a single word). She seems to have an easier time reproducing phonetically the languages of her region (plus her own and English) than others. But the result is nonetheless spectacular. In her youth, the Russian Alisa Supronova also specialized in singing in the various languages of her region (her "Mama" in Chechen is sublime). In India, the young prodigy Varsha Renjith, with her incredible voice, effortlessly sang Hindu, Muslim, Christian songs, and more. These connections between nations, religions and languages are always as beautiful as they are moving.
@@continentzero7572 What I respect about her is her fearless intention to sing in all these languages, as phonetically close as she is able to get of course. But the musical result is very pleasing, and it is more about the ability to capture the feelings/emotions in the song than the accuracy of the pronunciation. Every day, I hear songs sung by English speakers, in English and I am very lucky if I actually understand 60% of the song! So, bravo young Anukriti, for trying to capture the flavour of the language, at least! 😊👏
@@peterhowells7309 Children grasp the musicality of a language and the emotion conveyed by its music better than adults do (I even wonder if this is essentially why they learn languages so quickly). The little Chinese girl Miumiu, at just 6 years old (Hotel California), sang almost perfectly in English without understanding a single word of what she was saying. Languages are music ! And music is a universal language, an antidote to Babel.
@@continentzero7572 To perhaps explain, I just posted a video on my channel. Diana Ankudinova explains how, at 15yo, she learns a foreign language film. Take a look, fascinating!
Yes, she really is remarkable! Like Mr. Zero, I agree, the Serbian was only 50% comprehensible after a couple of listens, but phonetically very similar to how the whole of it would sound (e.g. instead of "dom" she pronounces "tom", but it's not very far off from its actual sound). Also, Peter, I'm starting to fear for all languages, as like you, when I listen to modern songs in English or Serbian, they really aren't very intelligible and enunciation is almost non-existent in some cases. To me, a language is a reflection of the way a mind processes information. At the University, as part of linguists we were taught that only some Native American languages had the tense incorporated within the noun rather than the verb. To this day I find that fascinating and can't quite comprehend the reason behind that grammatical structure, but cannot but be in awe of human ingenuity when it comes to expression. Actually, if you have a theory as to why the tense would be within the noun, I'd love to hear it. In my view, it might the emphasis of importance of humans, animals, nature and objects over actions or in a way saying that actions should not negatively impact them. Just a personal theory, no proof for that whatsoever... Mr. Zero, I also agree with your view of language being music. That's why I'm fascinated by people who have an excellent ear for music, but not for languages and vice versa... It feels like they are one and the same in some respect, but obviously it is not exactly so as the phenomenon I just described would not exist.
Don’t watch if don’t like her style. Btw r u vocal couch? Ur voice is irritating. 8:24
As you so aptly put it, don’t watch if don’t like it. At least I wasn't insulting when I commented on Gigi, unlike your comment about something I can't even influence.
Same to you!
@@AleksReacts Do you better understand now what I mean by "religiosity"?
Thank you both! 🥰 Mr. Zero, oh yes!
@Jackie-w2o We're having a very Merry Little Christmas here ... pls. don't spoil it. I do hope you have a Merry *Grand* Christmas!
You will probably enjoy her other version of this song which she sings in s more classical styleil, she is wearing a black shirt in this other video.
Found it and listened. You were right, the black shirt version feels more natural to me. 😊❤
You better watch her cover of yesterday once more by Karen Capenter
Thank you! I've added it to the list. I really like her voice, though this one felt a bit odd to me, so I do want to hear other songs she performed. 😊
Yes you just described Gigi well, that’s the way she covers She does her own whatever her heart desire That’s the way Gigi is Just like one reactor commented , expect the unexpected 😊
That is a good way to put it, "expect the unexpected". 😉
Thanks for featuring Gigi Welcome to her Beautiful World ❤❤❤ New sub here love your reaction, thank you very much ❤
Thank you and welcome to the channel! Always happy to feature good voices and good or better yet, great artists! ❤❤❤
@ You would love Give love on Christmas Day , not too much unexpected here But O Holy Night will surprise you Very unexpected 😁
Both added to the list. I don't mind surprises, it's just that I do GET surprised and confused by them. 😂
Another fave Xmas song is Give love on Xmas day , different ❤
Thank you! This Christmas list is full, but there are many more to come and it's great to have a lot of choices. Still, I understand there are many non-Christmas songs by Gigi, so I'll be sure to check out some others.
My fave of all is O Holy Night from a you tube Xmas night few years ago ❤❤❤
Thank you! ❤❤❤
❤❤❤
🥰
She has a nice voice but it did not put me in the Christmas spirit. The whole purpose of a Christmas song is to put you in the holiday spirit and this did not do that for me.
Seems we agree on both counts. If you watched the entire reaction, I wonder if the reason is the same for this performance not putting either of us in the holiday spirit...
You think this is good...checkout their reimagined "Fly Me To The Moon"!
I sure will, you're not the only one to point me in that direction. 😉

Thank you so much! Unless someone provides me with an original Filipino Christmas song, this one will be a good addition to my plan for Christmas 2025 - originals from 14-15 countries. In the meantime, there seems to be quite a choice of songs by Gigi de Lana to hear and get to know her better.
@@AleksReacts I’m failing all my duties ! What a scandal ! Not a single Christmas song in Tagalog (for "Christmas," say "Pasko"), from the country most specialized in Christmas songs in the world ! Filipinos even have a TV channel exclusively dedicated to Christmas. And they’re not nostalgic people. They celebrate it joyfully. Here’s a collective video featuring the legendary jury from The Voice Kids, composed of the international superstar Lea Salonga (with the most beautiful diction in the world) and two Filipino stars, Sarah Geronimo and Bamboo, joined by some of their best child prodigies, like Vanjoss and the adorable Alexa Salcedo. It’s mostly in Tagalog, though with a few English words… which is inevitable in the Philippines : ua-cam.com/video/wKNUGzaRjow/v-deo.html It’s typically Filipino and, as I mentioned, just one song among hundreds of others dedicated to Pasko.
Great reaction Aleks and merry Christmas.
Thank you, dear Hector! Have a wonderful holiday season!❤
Ah! Ah! Ah! No problem at all with you expressing what you think and feel. On the contrary, that’s exactly why I’m here. Finally, a reactor who speaks their mind ! How refreshing ! Of course, if you approach this song as a song, considering its background and the mood its creators intended… you are absolutely right. Gigi didn’t sing it "correctly," but… let’s take a closer look at who Gigi is to understand what she’s doing. She’s a former child prodigy, a stage powerhouse since the age of 9 or 10, with a voice capable of winning any competition. Now approaching her thirties, she leads the typical life of a Filipinette singer, recording albums, performing concerts, appearing on the Wish Bus, and so on. But between her teenage years and now, she founded Gigi Vibes with the musicians you saw accompanying her. This video is a snippet of the sessions she has been doing for years at the request of her UA-cam followers. In the comments, her fans suggest songs. She makes a list, rehearses once or twice with her band (sometimes not at all), and on weekends, she performs all the songs from her list live for an hour or two straight. Most of the time, she reads the lyrics and sheet music from a stand to her left (though sometimes she knows the song by heart). Later, she selects some of her best performances, saves them, and uploads them to UA-cam. This means there’s a huge amount of improvisation involved, especially when you consider that Gigi is 80% jazz. So, if you approach what you’ve heard not as a song but as jazz (and remember, jazz has always been about twisting songs in every possible way based on the mood of the musicians and singers), then Gigi didn’t make a mistake. She sang jazz. By the way, if you ever hear Christina Aguilera’s rendition of "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas," you might suddenly think, "OMG, how sweet Gigi was !" Thank you for the reaction and the much-appreciated sincerity. Good to know : the big hits from Gigi Vibes : Through the Fire, Better Days, Unholy, Yesterday When I Was Young...
Thank you so much for not taking my real opinion against me. It seems we both have the same view of what a reaction should be - either say truthfully what you feel or don't react. I do agree it depends on the approach. As you know I try not to know too much in advance, so I literally reacted to what I saw and heard and you are right. If we think about the song only, it sounded odd, but if we consider that she's primarily a jazz singer, it makes sense. Funny, but I have never heard Christina Aguilera’s rendition of this song. Maybe because I generally do not listen much to Christmas songs or rather do not search for them. I know many, but it's because they're everywhere. I now wonder what Christina's sounded like and knowing her style, sight unseen I'm very ready not to be surprised if I was to think "OMG, how sweet Gigi was !" 🤣
Hello my fr fr, French friend or French fries, depending on context, what a beautiful comment, couldn't have said it any better, actually I said something quite similar, but not as detailed, in my comment, also mentioned Better Days and Unholy (+FMTTM) - but instead of mentioning the Xtina I went with Haley, not saying, but thinking, that if you would compare Gigi's version to Haley's, you might think "Gosh, how brutal Gigi was..." - Haley's is pure sweetness, a teeny-tiny merrylarry little Christmas... In case you haven't heard it, here's a link: ua-cam.com/video/BHLQRURRubA/v-deo.htmlsi=FlsRfBNVECPVfyQa Passez un joyeux petit Noël!
@Hundhammer Aha, now I have the link too! Love to you and BavaRAYa, dear Dominik! ❤❤❤
@@Hundhammer Oh, I love that ! Naturally ! Even more tender than the lively Ella or the plaintive Billie (Eilish), though still not as sweet as the syrupy Judy. In short, it’s just beautiful ! Regarding Gigi, I was mainly emphasizing that we should recognize what we’re listening to : an improvisation for fun, not something polished or finalized. To hear Gigi in her role as a singer (and not in her hobby mode), it’s better to listen to her on her "Sakalam" in Tagalog and on the Wish Bus, which is an absolute marvel. I’m not sure if you remember Yao Xiao Tang, whom I mentioned recently regarding her soft tone vs Wang Xin. Well, I just discovered another female singer with a similarly sweet voice, curiously named Wang Xin Yi. Here she is in the beautiful classic song "Spring Breeze Ten Miles" : ua-cam.com/video/q2zj74iK1MI/v-deo.html.
@@continentzero7572 If you loved Haley's Have Yourself I have another on for you: Haley Reinhart - Santa Baby ua-cam.com/video/W4m5tX5K7RU/v-deo.htmlsi=4MkYpUY4zTLhvMD- I saw Gigi's newest hobby is cooking, if she does that only half as well as she executes her first hobby, her cuisine will easily outshine L'Oustau de Baumaniére... Wish Bus is quite magical, they manage to bring out the best in any given artist, no matter if Gigi or Morissette or Katrina, you name them... and in the US Angelina Jordan recently with Toby Gad... I remember the vocalist you suggested, but not her name, I'm sorry, but Chinese names, even if Latinized, are not compatible with my poor brain. I'm content to remember Wang OK (but not her real name...), and the other day I was very proud of myself as I spotted a video with AiNA THE END in it, which had only Japanese characters in its title, my brain identifies that combination of signs and points... Japanese names are slightly easier for me than Chinese, I also know Fujii Kaze, and Band Maid (but they are not my style...), but the latter band name is but a play on English words anyway... I listened to your link: A very beautiful voice and a beautiful song, merci beaucoup! I'm afraid I will have forgotten Wang Xin Yi in an instant - the name, not the voice... we can call her Wang the Second, or WXY... Salut!
Good morning! (my time of course😁) First thing Aleks if nothing else, you are so open and honest in your reactions, if something doesn't strike your ear right we know it right away, love it! Now about the song, the very first words evoked a little bit of Judy Garland to my ear but as you so accurately described as being combative, it very quickly evolved into a look at all that I can do with my voice. You are correct "any other song" ...maybe but not this song. Like a lot of the great vocalists know, just because you can belt an F5 or do an amazing vibrato or vocal fry you should only use those talents when they go with the rhythm and style of the song. If that was coffee you were having then cheers, I had just sat down with mine to watch you☕
"Look at all that I can do with my voice," you say ? Oh no… go check out her other performances to see everything she can really do with her voice. Here, she didn’t do anything with her voice. She just had some fun doing a little bit of jazz.
@@continentzero7572 Not saying she hasn't a great voice or talent, just didn't go with the spirit of this Christmas song in my view, didn't mean to offend.
@@xerezjg52 OMG, absolutely no offense taken. I’m not a fan hypnotized by Gigi’s divinity. 😂 I was simply clarifying a fact about what she was doing : a kind of jazzy improvisation for fun.
@xerezjg52 Thank you so much! I am very fortunate that my truthful opinion opens up a conversation, rather than a fight over who's right. It only proves that no intelligent person wants to be pandered to. If a reaction is not real, than it's not worth doing at all, in my opinion at least. As @continentzero7572 pointed out, she seems to improvise a lot and I can understand that when you have a strong voice, like she does, you might want to play with a song. Some people will LOVE it, others might have a similar opinion to ours, and truth be told, if I was listening to this in a club, I might have loved it too. A lot to take into account. I didn't even know why her voice sounded so sweet to me at the start, but you're right, she does evoke Judy Garland a bit there. Unless I'm sick, if I'm holding a mug, it's always coffee. Glad we had one together! ☕ Also, I have to say I love reading interactions between you guys - a lot for me to learn often, or at least enjoy a healthy, respectful and intelligent discourse! Thank you both once again. ❤❤❤
@@continentzero7572 Will check out her other videos in order to experience a bit more of her!
What a nice surprise, Aleks, to see Gidget on your channel. Yes she's really, really good, actually one of my favorites for quite a few years, but I agree, she has many songs that work much better for me than this (the merry merry cutest little little Christmas ever imo was sung by Haley Reinhart, I think I mentioned her before, but for that song we got audio only... One of my favorite Christmas songs these days, I will play it right after leaving here, haven't heard it in this season. AJ also has a beautiful version, but for me with this song it's Haley without the slightest doubt... For Gigi on the other hand, some of my favorites are: Better Days, an incredibly beautiful Dianne Reeves cover and absolute masterpiece of story telling. Fly Me To The Moon - another vamped up version, but with this song the arrangement and her adlibs / scats work perfectly... and, just for contrast: Unholy, the amount of sass, grid and beastiness she lays in this cover is insane, a clear case of cover better than original... She has many more great performances (during the pandemic they were doing a weekly live stream of about two hours, each stream containing 15 - 20 songs, many of which were suggestions from the live chat, so you would often see her reading the lyrics on a phone or tablet during the recording, and she never misses a word, also her pitch and timing and phrasing are supreme. Great artist, also she's such a nice person as it seems and from all I've heard - and the GG Vibes are a great band as well! So you can guess how many cover by Gigi there are, she must have sung close to all songs available on this planet... Now, if I'm not mistaken and your plans haven't changed, tomorrow will be another Rayeday? More scatting in a Christmas classic (in case "White Christmas" wasn't blocked...? I couldn't find the original video anymore when I wanted to watch it again recently, only one reaction...), I'm curios how that one sat with you... Have a great evening and enjoy it, peace and love!
Thank you so much, Dominik! I'm sure you know that @continentzero7572 provided me with this interesting rendition. I really do want to hear more by Gigi, as her voice is really beautiful, just surprised me in this rendition. 😊 So, all the suggestions you just gave have made it onto my list. There was no change of plans, but the plan was for Sunday, December 29, 2024. Remember, I have longer for Christmas songs and the season ends on January 7th. 😉 There will be 8 more songs and one that manages to combine Polish artists and a Serbian Christmas song. However, I just checked the video link I kept for my Raye White Christmas reaction and it has been blocked. Tried to search and like you could not fine one... I guess I might have to go with Raye - O' Holy Night instead, unless they block that too. 😒 Always good to hear from you, dear friend. Greetings to Bavaria. ❤❤❤
@@AleksReacts RAYE has the audio of Oh Holy Night on her own channel, that one will not be blocked as she's independent, but also the video has been up for quite a while now and there are several unfiltered reactions out... It's a great choice as well, anything with RAYE in it is, except for one song called Tequila, but that was many years ago when she had no control about her career (I would not have found it if she hadn't mentioned it in an interview, being asked if there's a song she regrets having sung... - it's really bad, not her vocals, but the song... :) ... it's maybe even worse than Angelina Jordan's performance at the FIFA Awards... :D ...) - anyway, if you want to stick with the Christmas theme for now, Oh Holy Night is perfect, the angel of music who is RAYE will drip it on you like nectar and ambrosia even on the 29th (or whenever you're recording...) Good night piccolina!
Goodness, all I got out of this is that I want to hear what AJ and Raye both hated when they sang it. 😂 I found the audio, so if I have no other choice, I'll go with that, but I will try the version with video if it works... Good night, kiddo. 😉

Thank you José! I'm glad that this is mentioned both in the video and the comments, so everyone can find information or even stumble onto it. ❤❤❤
So obvious.
Could you please clarify? What exactly is obvious?
I would like to attempt to explain what is going on with the song. It's true that the music and lyrics don't fit well together. That's intentional. You can think of it as the music representing the exuberant life that you are no longer participating in because you are tired and sad, can't motivate yourself, and have no desire to see the same people over and over again.
Thank you! I don't know if I thought that and simply did not say it clearly during the video or someone else pointed it out before or even both. Either way, I think it was an excellent juxtaposition of melody and lyrics. It is also good that you did comment with that explanation, as the channel involves more people who might want to read the comments and learn more. Thanks again! ❤❤❤
It is said that this original title by AMK was the initial spark for their career when it was released on UA-cam. Starting as street musicians in Cologne, they now fill entire football stadiums in Germany and are equated with bands like Rammstein, Die Toten Hosen, Die Ärzte, or Herbert Grönemeyer.
From the moment I heard it until today I am still firmly in love with this song. Honestly, I wish I heard it when I was a teenager... Imagine the effect at that age, when you're hopelessly in love. 😂 Oh, it's been so long since I heard the band name Die Toten Hosen, thanks for reminding me of them. You know, I should check out more German music. I've only heard a few songs, mainly those that were internationally big. For example, of course I heard Rammstein's Du Hast, but not many more by them... I'll jot these down for further inspiration, if you don't mind.

Always great to hear your reactions of Angelina. She makes it sound so effortless. I liked the way this was jazzy while still having a Christmas vibe. I also remember lots of snow when I was a kid!
Thank you, dear Tolun! My thoughts exactly and I love that even in this style she still kept the Christmas vibe. Judging by the comments, we're all missing snow more and more. Btw, if I may ask, is Tolun your actual name or a nick? You already know, no answer required, only if you wish to tell me. ❤
@@AleksReacts It's my youtube nick, my actual name is Torgeir. It's a combination of two old Norwegian names from the Viking era (or before): Tor and Geir. My mom loves the old culture, the Norse mythology and everything about it. Come to think of it, Torgeir was also a common name at that time. Naturally I got a name like that 🤣 It is usually a difficult name to pronounce for English speakers, and when I lived in California for a few years they called me Tom. LOL
Thank you so much for telling me your name! It sounds very strong and serious, and still quite beautiful! That's almost sacrilege, calling Torgeir a Tom instead. Funny and at the same time cool that you're name is a combination Tor known for his hammer and a name derived from the Old Norse word geirr, meaning spear (yes, I googled it). ❤❤❤
@@AleksReacts Thank you Aleks, I appreciate that! ♥ Exactly, you are correct, those are the correct meanings. I've grown to appreciate the name more and more over the years as I've grown older. Last summer, we went to see two outdoor theaters (huge productions) - reenactments of old Viking battles and stories, with music and everything. It was great. 2 of the old vikings was named Torgeir :) It was actually a little hilarious the many many ways the Americans butchered my name, so when a person from Vietnam, also a foreign student, said "I'm gonna call you Tom from now on!". And it stuck, and from that day forth, I was Tom 🤣
To me, from this point on, you will always be Torgeir! If I can pronounce a name of a song close to correctly, I'm sure I can manage a name. Also, this makes it less likely that I ever again forget you're a Viking 😉
