I really like your videos. They are a combination of modern production quality, and old-school youtube, from back when it was just someone talking to a camera and telling us what they thought. Great job.
This guy is so entertaining. Honest and concise. No bull sh*t. Straight up decent channel!
Your straight-forward, no nonsense videos are terrific. Thanks for this evaluation and cheers from Wisconsin.
I played around with sub $100 drones a few times and they were always a huge pain to fly. So I went a bit of a step up and got a DJI Mini2. Man, what a difference even that makes, it can actually hover in place and be controllable. So I'm happy with that and its about all I need to do semi-occasional flying for fun at the park or beach.
yea i allso got a dji mini 2 its good its great drone great color great camera evrythink its very well but u gotta be carefull it dosent have sensor on the sides but still i think dji mini 2 its not only for beginners u can allso make money from it due to its 4k-30fps
wich i think its very impressive for a small drone
Seems expensive when compared to the other minis but does have more packed into it. As far as comparison to larger drones it reminds me of my days with photography. Cameras which used larger format film gave much better image quality, but the size, weight, and expense of the system made them undesirable after a while.
I really like this video and now believe that my life is less fulfilled because I've never seen any of your other videos.
I very much appreciate your comments, style and delivery. I felt like 2 buddies sitting down talking about drones over a beer and some wings.
Please keep doing what you are doing!
First time viewer here, this video was so good that I subscribed to your channel half way through watching the video. You made some great points. I have both drones and it was nice to hear perspective from someone who has much more experience. Have a good day!
Good News for you Terry. You can now use the controller with the AIR2S as well. I bought my controller RC just for the AIR2S. Its working fine and much better than my smartphone, where I always had to hide in the shadow. I would love if they would also allow my Mavic2 Pro and the Mini 2 to connect to this controller....
Hey Terry, Thanks for this video. I’ve been on the fence between these 2 . I have been leaning to the M3P for its features , size etc. I like you , am not making movies , etc. so I feel better ordering the M3P . Thanks very much. I have now liked this video and subscribed :). Look forward to seeing your adventures with it. Be safe !
I upgraded from my mavic pro for an air 2s, i was between the mini 3pro and the 2s. And wind was a major factor, i use the drone mainly to heard cattle and having a drone that can handle windy days was a must. Cheers from Uruguay
Awesome. I use mine to move sheep from pasture to pasture.. and during lambing season
This is awesome, I never would’ve thought to heard animals with a drone. I am always surprised on how people find new ways to do old things!!! Cheered to you both!
Genius !
Cool!!!
I appreciate the honest evaluation of this machine I just purchased one I haven't got it yet but I have been reviewing a lot of UA-cam videos and yours is one of the best ones out there 👍
Perfectly fair comments, based on my experience so far with the mini3. Really small and easy to carry; great image quality; easy to fly; hard to wreck (thanks to collision avoidance); decent battery life; and the remote control is outstanding.
I'm getting horrible range on this drone; ~400m in the city and just over 1km in the suburbs. Sometimes less. How much range does yours get?
@@arlentan Not 100% sure what you mean by 'range'. I'm assuming you mean until you lose any signal? I haven't had any such problems but, then again, I maintain line of sight - can't imagine ever flying my drone over 1 km away.
@@chrisrobert8187 I see, I'm used to flying my Air 2 out of sight with little signal issues. On the Mini 3 it seems even with line of sight it can lose signal intermittently. Hoping one of the firmware updates fixes this
@@arlentan you have to go in settings and adjust the range and alt
@Martin Jansen 😂😂🤣
Like your video! Presented well and spoke about man pros and cons. I have the mini 2 and waiting till they fix more issues before getting
Hey Terry - nice work, love your energy and "just say it how it is" approach. I just bought my first drone, DJI Mini SE and for $300, it's a ton of fun. Great and affordable 'learner' drone for sure. I'm keen on the Mini 3 Pro - thanks for a great review and comparison!
All videos should be done this way - quick, precise, to the point and excellent quality!
that “will u shut up” alone is makin me subscribe😂 thanks for making my decision to get the 2s😂
So I'm coming from a Phantom 4 Pro, to this thing, which just showed up at my door. I'm charging batteries and doing firmware updates as we speak. Really great to be able to watch your video while I'm waiting for that to happen. Well done, thanks for the great information that was well laid out. Let's do this!
Hey Terry, that was a very fair review on the mini 3 pro, what I would say though is that although the drone moves around a fair bit in strongish winds, the picture is extremely stable that it is imperceptible when watching footage back. So even though it moves a lot, it provides better image stability than many drones double its price from what I've seen. Oh and by the way, I live in Scotland, we get a lot of wind lol.
Yeah man the gimbal on this M3P is nuts. It's like having a tripod in the sky. Almost looks fake because it's so good, LOL!
My previous experience is with the Mavic Mini, which you could sometimes see a wavy image with.
One of the best videos I’ve seen on the Mini 3 Pro and the comparison to the Air 2S! Thanks!!
Nice overview of your experiences 👍. I had the connection issues with mine, until the latest RC firmware update, which seems to have solved it for me (I use the standard RC-N1 controller). So the only issue left for mine is the overheating. When it's hot out, just has to be moving at a decent speed to avoid the issue, which sometimes means not getting the shot you want. Otherwise super impressed.
My issue is the USB-C cable connection with the phone... if you are a bit harsh with the controller, it might affect the cable connection with the phone and cause the drone to disconnect. The RC controller, without the need for a phone to function, is the biggest upgrade
Thanks for your comparison. I love my Air 2s and thanks to your review I don't regret not buying a mini 3 pro although it's a great piece of technology, no doubt about it. I had a similar problem to yours. I also own Mavic Air 2 so I was planning to sell it the moment my new Flymore combo arrives but I had second thoughts about it because of those batteries - they are interchangeable on both models so now I have much more flying time and a spare drone to use just in case. Also charging is super fast, if I need to recharge my 6 batteries, I use two chargers and I can get back into the air pretty quick. 😉
I am getting back into aerial photography (just for fun, hobby use) so this video was incredibly helpful, especially "At the end of the day . . . " which was somewhat surprising but helps me decide which way to go.
Great review - very helpful - thanks! 👍
4:34 the “would you shut up” had me dying
Great video and quick explanation of pros/cons of the M3P for basic use.
Don’t let that smoke alarm get you! Authentic and that matters. Thanks for giving me good insight into adding the mini 3 as my social media drone.
well spoken! i really like the way you touched on all the points i wanted to hear about. i also appreciate how quickly and straight to the point you are. some youtubers are long winded and i lose interest. like and subscribed!
Great video! I just tested both today out on the beach in Chicago and, although the mini 3 pro is small and light, it handled the wind like a G. We are talking about speeds up to 14kts with gusts up to 16kts. I was impressed.
Again, great video.
Chicago is probably the best place to wind test! Thanks for posting that info, I think I’m going with the mini 3 pro
Good thorough video, Terry! I started with (and still have) a Mini 2, which for the money is still a fantastic drone. It does lack some features, sure, but as a starter drone it really holds up, and of course the size/weight factors are huge. I added an Air 2S to the mix, and honestly was a bit let down. I loved the robust build, and the performance and image quality were great. But it had some things I didn't like (like the flat strip charger, hated that thing), and it wasn't nearly as inconspicuous in flight as the Mini 2. So I sold the A2S, and jumped at the Mini 3 Pro for the new stuff: new remote, better sensor, upward/vertical gimbal, obstacle avoidance, active track. Loving it so far, and no regrets. I have seen the effects of wind, and I'm hoping the heavier batteries (once I can finally get my hands on the Fly More Plus) will help that a little. Still, really enjoying the M3P so far, and looking forward to what else DJI might bring to it in future updates.
I’m trying my hardest to hold out for the Air 3 because if it hits the mark with all the things people loved about the A2s and M3P then adding new stuff plus bigger sensor and even better avoidance, plus compatibility with all of the remotes including the goggles to introduce a hybrid fpv mode would be amazing
@@Hug_life I'm sure I'll salivate over that one too, but it's the low noise of the Mini series that really sells me. I just love how once it's up to 50 or 100 feet, it basically disappears for anyone who doesn't know it's there!
@@wanderland_xyz I guess it comes down to how good your hearing is right? I put my mini 2 up 394' or 120 meters and I still hear that b, I'm looking around because I know someone could hear it not that one's doing anything wrong or illegal, just its easy to hear for myself anyway.
Just discovered your channel and love it! Thanks for respecting my time and just getting right down to it, tell us what we need know. No fluff, no schtick. New subscriber here.
Yea I forgot to mention that in my comment. He gets to the point, gets the information across, without the BS. More UA-camrs should realize that we are going from video to video and after a while the BS eats up way to much time.
Had to subscribe great content love from London 🙌🏾💜 I just got my mini 3 pro yesterday from selfridges with all the extras I can’t wait to use it abroad on Friday happy new year 🥳
Watched your video before checking out your subscriber count. The quality of the whole video made me think you're on a million subscribers.
You've got yourself a new subscriber :)
Awesome! Thanks for your opinion! I am thinking of selling my Mini2 to get the 3 but was waiting for some “30 days later” type videos. I understand it’s also improved with all the updates. I’m wondering, have they updated the firmware so that APAS 4.0 and Focus Track work with 4K-60fps &1080-120fps? Specs for the Mini 3 on DJI’s website say they don’t!?
Any update on that? Does it work now?
Thank you, Terry! You are extremely knowledgeable, and I really like your candor. I'm new to drones, and after a bit of research, about 2 months ago I purchased my 1st one which was a different brand, and a little less money than the Mini Pro 3. And, it also has very promising features. By the way, what's most important to me for the projects I'm going to be using it for, is Waypoints. Yet, for whatever reason, it seems that Waypoints is a subject that's glazed over by most drone companies, and drone reviewers (maybe I'm overlooking them). In any event, I put the original drone through its paces, and ultimately ended up returning it. Then, after more research, yesterday I ordered the Mini Pro 3 which will arrive tomorrow. Your video then popped up today. After viewing it, it helps validate for me that I think I made the right choice this time. I have a question, you mention the slower ascent and descent of the Mini Pro 3. Would the Hyperlapse feature be a way to overcome this limitation (visually)? Also, is it possible to create an entire Waypoints "mission" (I think they're called) using DJI software on a laptop, including map location (GPS), altitude, speed, camera orientation, and time, and then upload that mission to a drone to carry out? Thx!
My Mini 3 Pro should arrive tomorrow. I've spend weeks trying to figure out which one I wanted. I finally decided on the Mini 3 Pro and YOU nailed it for my decision with this video. Thank you Brother for your opinion. It is much appreciated. Calm winds and blue skies for you...Carry on.
Great review! The only thing that concerns me is the instability in wind. It tends to be windy where I am and I've noticed even with a Mavic 2 that it can have a serious effect trying to take a decent picture. Thanks!
Great video Terry. Considering the weight of the Mini 3, it’s a real beast in the wind.
I bought the Mini 3 Pro when it came out in may in my home country Ireland and don't regret a single penny😀 Yes it had teething problems, Yes it was sort of half finished but hey it was well worth the trouble. I have been flying it a good bit now and now I've relegated my heavier 470g Mavic Air 2 to a dusty corner!🙂
Would you recommend for first time flyer
@@gavindoyle1364 yes.
Terry, this is the first video I've seen of yours and it earned you a follow from me. I've been thinking about the M3P and your video was very helpful. Thanks.
Thanks Terry. Great review and you helped me make up my mind on going ahead and buying one. Happy Trails.
Fast paced and straight to the point content earned you an instant follow
You are good at this. I love your review and entertaining enough to keep me watching through. Straight up. Thank you.
Got the air2s but just ordered the mini 3 as well. I'm a causal flyer that films and flys for fun but will keep them both.
Loved your video. Liked the pros and cons. I have the mini 2 and you have definitely made a good pitch for the mini 3. The controller does look cool. Most generally I don’t subscribe after one video. I’ll definitely watch more. Thanks.
Excellent video! Thanks for taking the time to make it and share it.
so easy to bring this around, when you suddenly see something you want to take aerial shots of. video and photos are friggin mint
Excellent video and style. I like the unscripted, raw opinions and thoughts.
Best review for the mini 3 Ive watched. First time I've watched an entire review. Entertaining.
Great review, answered all my questions! Thank you!
Your review is a refreshing change from the normal! Thank you!
Love how you hit the key points. Nice job Terry!
Good point about the size of the drone and its fly capabilities in windy weather. I am thinking about buying my first drone but I want to use it in the mountains mostly where it is always windier. Now thinking of the mini I would probably go with some heavier version like 2S.
Thank you for your feedback. I just bought a DJI Mini 3 Pro as my first drone. I have not taken it out of the box yet in case I need to return it, so your insight has helped me. I also got the Fly More Pack with the extended life batteries. Can you suggest a particular 12 Volt car charger to use with the three battery charge module, if it can be used with 12 Volt systems, (such as my boat).
Just stumbled across your feed. Quite impressive! Thanks for your perspective. I don't fly mini's but have always been interested in the pocket size aspect and you covered it. As far as the controller, I'm reserved still. I like the features, but not sure I'd go for the RC over the RC Pro. Seems like DJI is strategically releasing compatibility to sell their RCs. Although less expensive than the RC Pro, it doesn't have enough advantages over the N1 to nudge me towards another RC. The Air2s was selling with the RC Pro as a package for about $300 more and almost had me, but that RC was limited in compatibility to only the Air2s. Seems like you'd still need a phone for companion apps if using the RC, as compared to the RC Pro which has the ability to load other apps. Just FYI, I fly the Mavic 3 and very happy with it. Only advantage of a Mini series would be the size. Would be great to fit in a pocket on the go off road or on vacation.
Hi Terry, Great video. I love the fact that the fly more combo is separate again. Originally, the fly more combo was separate. It annoys me personally that I couldn't buy it separately for the air 2s for example. So if you could only afford a basic kit, you would have to buy a whole new drone to get the fly more combo.
Loved the video! It really helped me out with deciding between the two.👍🏼
Great video, I'm keeping my Air 2S because I just ordered the Sphere 360 for it. I do plan on getting the Mini 3 Pro next month when it's available for the drone only package. When I do travel and want to travel light, I plan on using the Mini 3 Pro along with the Nano+.
Nice sphere 360 will be nice too...
Thanks for the no BS video, looking to get into Drones and you have given some great info to ponder over.
Great video. I’m waiting on mine. Two more days. Learning a lot from your videos. Keep up the great work
I too experienced some wind issues. Once I put it into the "sports mode", those issues went away. Just saying. Great video, appreciate it.
Great video Terry! Thank you for helping me decide.
The best dji mini video ive seen on youtube. this man know his stuff.
I really enjoyed your video and totally agree with your points on the mini. Thanks, love your style.
Great vlog, direct to the point conversation, I appreciate you views and key points helped me make my first drone purchase mini 3 pro w/ fly more
Fantastic video Terry! A great breakdown of what's great and what's missing.
The second you told Siri to shut up , I instantly liked the video. When you said that you didn't have buyers remorse, I subsribed to your channel. I'm coming from a 2017 mavic pro so it's an upgrade no matter how you look at. Thanks ........ Good talk.
Great comparison video! Just ordered a mini 3 pro for the same reasons. Pretty damn smooth for no scripting! Thanks!
I recently got mine, for a birthday. I love it. so easy to use, great quality of images. there are many great drones out there. one must start with something.. and this one has loads of features and is very small. I got the extra kit, 2 more batteries, charger, and I got a hard case. I already have a private pilot license so I'm going to get my drone license also. DJI has a great record for quality and innovation... after some time I will get into a larger drone perhaps.. I do real estate, am an agent.
Great, no nonsense assessment. Thanks Terry, spot on.
Really like your lighting it is well done. Great video!
Also, the mini 3 does not require a pilot licence or registration of the drone in many countries as long as you use the standard battery and stay under 249 gr flight weight. Big feature !
Don't you still need a pilot license when using ANY drone for commercial use, regardless of its weight? That would include any monetized video posted to UA-cam.
@@sirnh Yes, in the U.S.
It's legit 15mins to register one over 300g lol and 5 bucks
Also you all will have to register the remote id end of the year
@@sirnh correct
What up TST. That controller is dope man. I still have the first mini haven't even thought about another one till now. Nice. Video man
First time watching your videos, great stuff. Informative & honest review, also made me laugh about the memory card flying out! Keep up the good work. I subscribed, Peace from across the pond in the UK.
Thanks for the in-depth break down Terry!🤘🏻
Terrific review. You cover all the salient points that Nuff Nuff’s like me know little about but want answers too. You’ve answered my questions in simple language that I personally was wondering and needed clarity on. 👏👏👏👏👍🙏
Good stuff! If you switch screen to map view - does the new controller have details like roads, rivers and lakes, such as the controller that uses the phone?
Really useful to hear your opinion on the plus and minus on this drone coupled with your final conclusion. Thank you so much
Great video, all well explained and love your style. Now subscribed and keep them coming.
The uncut unfiltered take is what I was looking for thank you Terry.
Another reason I wanna the mini 3 pro. Great video and info. The Siri activation had me dying. Happens to me all the time at random times. 😂
Great breakdown, thanks. Merry Christmas!
I’m thinking of getting my first drone and I’m happy I came across this video. You did a good job being honest with what you liked and didn’t like. I think this drone will be my first
Great job! Thank you for making this video. Very helpful!
Thanks for the great video, packed full of info! You're a funny guy too! 🤣
Love the Mini 3 pro i just got mines but its my first drone but this review is spot on with how i feel. Thank you Brother man. Respect.
Thank you Terry for sharing bro! Now i know which drone to get! Let’s go! 🔥
Great review Brother - much appreciated. Happy Holidays
I agree. I live in Hawaii and where I live it’s very windy. I have no use for a Mini drone from any brand. The Air2S actually holds up better for me than my M2P and P4Pv2.
New here, like your video Bro. Covered a lot of valuable information in short time. Straight to the point and then, OUT OF THERE TO DOING LIFE THINGS. 😊👍
Love that you just talk
Genuine
Thank you for your point of view! I am upgrading from mini 1 to mini 3 can’t wait for it 😍😀
Good video, enjoyed your data dump! I crashed my Mini 2, so now I will upgrade. Thanks again!
That was an awesome review - glad you did it - I loved the information
Glad I found your channel, you have some great content.
Vertical mode is a nice comeback. My DJI Mavic Pro which was my first drone and I still love it has the vertical option too. My next drone comes out tomorrow on the 25th which is the new DJI Avata. Try the tripletek 8 Pro tablet to fly your drones and you will never want to use a DJI smart controller or so called Pro controller again. Tripletek is the master screen for flying.
Great videos….definitely never boring. Thanks
You made my day “Would you shut up”😂😂😂 to ur watch😂😂
Nice video man! Def hanging on to my air 2s
I have both, use them for building inspections and the like. The only drawback to mini 3 is wind stability close to objects. This is actually made worse by the gimbal. If you're watching through controller, things will look fine - but you will hear the rotors change speed, and when you look at the drone, it's struggling.
Keeping both, I keep the mini in the car all the time - bring out the air 2S when I know I'm doing a job.
Obstacle avoidance can fight you.
Doesn't the Air 2S have obstacle avoidance too?
Lots of good details in this vid bro, thanks so much. 🙏🏼
Great video, I’m still using the mavic 2 pro no complaints, but I’m thinking of getting the mini 3 pro because of size and it’s got good camera and it’s more manageable when wanting to take with you anywhere.
