Want more superheros? I buttoned bashed through Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 not too long ago! ➤ ua-cam.com/video/Fg8NgyBKbIs/v-deo.html
Deadpool 3 will be having wolverine in the classic outfit.
Will be cool to see him in it with Deadpool.
This is the game that got my kid self thinking, "maybe just because a game has your favorite characters in it doesn't automatically mean it's good."
exactly this
I guess you were a smarter kid than I, I liked this game.
That's exactly how I feel about nearly every anime game I've ever played lol
That is soo sad to me, but I understand
Now you just need X2: Wolverine’s Revenge… Wolverine voiced by Mark Hamill and a weird history of kind of being connected to the movie but also not. Hugh Jackman is on the Cover and the X2 costume is in the game, also movie tickets for X2: X-Men United were inside with every purchase. Really weird but I loved that game as a kid.
Wolverine's Revenge was awesome! It held the high mark for me until X-men Origins Wolverine Uncaged Edition came out.
also sabertooth had great one liners in it
Isn't that the game where Spider-Man actually cameos in?
@@federalexpressman9762 Yes but I think it's a deleted scene you unlock in the extras menu.
X2 is such a strange game. they wanted you to think it was a movie tie-in since it had hugh jackman on the cover and the costume as an unlockable. But it's a completely unrelated story based on the comics. it's not even close to the movie canon. I think it's better for it but I can't think of any other game that is just pretending to be a movie tie-in.
As a kid I had the demo disk for this game and I used to just replay the first Nightcrawler level over and over again. Mashing the teleport button as fast as you can to zip between the platforms was super fun. This really should have just been a Nightcrawler game.
I did the same. That shit was fun lol
Lmao as a kid my cousin had the game upstairs but I never remember getting past like the first few levels but I definitely remember playing the first level over and over
The fact the story for this game was written to explain why Nightcrawler wasn’t in the last stand, when in fact the real reason was just because they finished the script and realized they forgot the character completely and didn’t have a role for him.
I mean...since Wolverine's skeleton is also plated in adamantium, couldn’t a headbutt from him literally kill?
yes
I wonder if he headbutted someone hard enough, would his head vibrate like a tuning fork?
@@gabrielboorom2683 Pretty sure that actually happened in the comics with Juggernaut
The Sentinel Ace of Spaces clip is one of my favourites. He just leans down super close and says it so inquisitively before he explodes. It''s beautiful.
Ah yes, the era where they wanted to make superhero movies but not let them look like superheroes.
I'd love an episode of X-Men Origins: Wolverine. One of the rare cases where the game was way better than the movie.
That's because it wasn't based on the movie when being created. They added the movie references late in the game creation once they knew of the movie release. So it's not actually a movie based game.
Really? I played on the ps2 back in the day and couldn't stand it
@@pablokpsctr pc version is completely different
@@simon7312 Ooh I see
PS2 version was a solid game still imo
Loved the Nightcrawler missions in this game.
I remember buying this just for Nightcrawler as he is one of my favorite X-men. His sections were always quite fun. I recall enjoying the game overall. I also remember getting stuck a number of times in Wolverine levels. I want to say there are alternative costumes, don't quote me on that though. I remember Nightcrawler in his comic suit. For me, the most forgettable X-Men game is X-Men Destiny. That game came out and I never heard of it again. I only remembered it because of this video.
yeah i remember the wolverine water thing. the idea being his adamantine skeleton is so heavy he can't swim and would be stuck in a cycle of drowning to death, his healing factor repairing him and then drowning to death again.
I had this on the PS2 back in the day, I remember the Nightcrawler levels being pretty fun, teleporting all over the place was cool.
Holy shit, that theme from X2 on the mission select screen, though! Ahhh the serotonin...
So... This thrown together peice of crap was so weird... Like this and X2 game had the likeness rights, but this one had some of the movie stuff in it, but in slideshow comic format... Funny story, me and a friend at the time in 2006 were gonna get a Marvel game, it was either this, or Ultimate Alliance... So we picked the right choice lol
Sabertooth in the Ultimate universe had four adamantium claws in his hand. He doesn't really get much stuff.
Patrick Stewart was like in 4 different X-Men games, the good X-Men Legends games, X2, and this.
Nightcrawler can't heal that fast, neither can Iceman, buy at least his ice form works as armor.
Oh yeah, Storm is voiced by Debra Wilson, it was random then, jumping to now, she's in every big game lol
I remember loving this game as a kid. Along with the Fantastic 4 movie game.
you unlocked a few memories for me
I thought the game everyone forgot was X-Men: Destiny.
I really enjoyed that...
But we all REMEMBER forgetting it, ysee
Remember the lawsuit filed because the developer didn't have permission to use the Unreal engine I believe and unsold copies had to be destroyed.
That games too terrible to remember....and too de-listed to find o.o
Forward roll and slash are a Wolverines bread and butter in this game
Y'know what though, this game at least had a fun solution for Wolverine's healing factor. Usually games either ignore it or make it so slow that it doesn't matter, but I think the 3-tier system they had (passive regen, active boost, and as an additional effect for the fury mode) actually strikes a nice balance. Shame about the, uh... everything else though
this game lowkey looks sick though!
its super not, sadly! Now X-Men Origins Wolverine (the really violent character action game) is indeed, HIGHKEY sick!
@@MattMcMuscles it really isnt xD
But I do remember a big draw to this in some extra media was we would get a proper sendoff to Nightcrawler cus it had been pretty clear he was not in any of 3s trailers and I think publicly it was known he wasnt reprising the role. Now if that sendoff is any good, I do not remember whatsoever...
despite the hate i still find it enjoyable if you loved the movies as a kid, but yes origins is no doubt the best. can’t wait for insomniac’s wolverine adaptation
I remember liking this game, but only in the second half where the sentinels get the best representation they've had in games so far.
That and the Multiple Man Nightcrawler mission on the bridge.
Cartoon reference is X-Men animated series. Episode was The Final Decision for reference.
I am reasonably sure at one point Sabertooth also got an adamantium skeleton. I also think he has it, but he's had it, then didn't a few times so I'm honestly not sure. He's also had strength enhancements.
to answer the question about Sabretooth, he's bigger, stronger, and faster, but Wolverine has the better healing factor (Which is why he could actually survive the adamantium bonding process). like Logan is around 5'4, and Victor is what was it, like 7 feet tall? its why Logan was always the underdog in their fights.
Sabretooth also was given an adamantium skeleton, together with a general atributes boost, by the revamped Weapon X Project back in early 2000's.
Please play
X2: Wolverine's Revenge. I remember loving it as a kid but something tells me it doesn't hold up.
It's still good, but it's hard asf.
I remember playing this, removing it from my Xbox, driving to the nearest Hollywood Video, returning it, and getting another copy of Marvel Ultimate Alliance for the twenty time.
Why didn't you buy it instead of renting all the time?
The best type of movie-game tie-in is a 1.5 sequel/prequel side story or just an original story within the movie universe while decently aping gameplay from actual successful games.
Like that Ghost Rider one which is just a DMC/GOW clone.
Edit: also iirc, this game explains why Nightcrawler wasn't in Last Stand.
So they aren't bringing back Ronin Warriors, but there is a new blueray boxset out this year!
I remember in the ultimate X-Men comics that Sabretooth got Claws like Wolverine but he had 4 in each hand.
Sabertooth did get his own clone via Mr. Sinister.
This game was apart of my childhood so I remember it quite vividly. I played it on the original xbox.
Ngl the only thing I remember from this game was that Silver Samurai battle lol
For me it’s the nightcrawler missions with the dead girl
More people need to talk about raven software’s game I love hearing you mention it, been running the pc version at 4k and it’s still great despite clearly needing more time in the oven. Hopefully insomniac’s new game is as violent as origins at the very least.
In the comics Sabertooth actually gets adamantium bonded to his skeleton...and then it gets removed, but that's never stopped him from being Wolverine's toughest opponent.
Sabertooth had his own mini series back in the day. Cool fold out cover and even fought Deadpool
I thought my dream X-Men movie game would have been styled after Legends albeit a bit scaled down, but this... just playing three characters and not together just felt like a weak use of the license.
That's the one thing that upset me about the X-Men movie franchise is that Logan never got to wear his yellow and blue/brown costume. Even the other X-Men didn't wear their costumes from the comics.
The movies were based off Ultimate marvel universe. A lot of characters had more "modern" costumes. That's why all of them wear the same black leather suit, Logan with the bomber jacket, etc.
@@NSFSponsor I’m not sure the X-Men movie was based on the Ultimate comics. The Ultimate comics and X-Men came out the same year, if I’m not mistaken? The movie might have even come out before the Ultimate X-Men comics
@@smoothbrainjones Honestly I think the costume decision was more based on The Matrix
@@smoothbrainjones You're right in that the first X-men movie was already out before ultimate X-men became a thing. In fact the ultimate X-men outfits were inspired by the movies since at the time that was the only exposure the artist at the time had to the X-men. Ironic b/c I think the ultimate outfits would have made for better movie costumes.
@MattMcMuscles Yes Sabretooth has adamantium skeleton and claws he actuals has had the process done twice, once by Apocalypse which he then lost, then by a resurrected weapon X program.
Nightcrawler does not have a healing factor but they made him immortal and cannot die by normal means, and because of his angel blood he can heal others but if hurts him instead....yeah a lot of weird changes to him.
Funny how just yesterday i suddenly thought of this game that i used to play way back in childhood
The uneventful x-Matt
Omg i remember playing the demo of this for the 360 and what makes me truly remember this game is the awesome healing detail
man i really wish Marvel Nemesis had more love. one of my favorite games.
Nightcrawler is my favorite character ever, so I most certainly have not forgotten the game where you predominantly play as him and get to see where he was between X2 and 3.
It probably hasn't aged well, but I seem to remember the Sentinel fight in Wolverine Origins looking really cool.
*sees Matt upload an X-Men video* "Ohh, I hope he references 'This one's for you, Morph!'" *Less than a minute later* "Yaaaaaay!"
So glad I found this channel Matt’s the best. The editing the games the fun the knowledge the Mattisms if that is a word 😂 it is now. Good work legend love flop house plays and whaaaaaaa happun too and the detective files too brilliant channel.
Jim Hackerman as the Wolverine looks great
This game's script was written by Chris Claremont, who was X-Men writer for most of the 80's and early 90's and who created characters like Storm, Nightcrawler and Colossus.
Thanks for this video Matt! I would love to see some other X-Men games like X-Men Legends 2, or Origins Wolverine or even a What Happened on any of the movies.
12:36 and you call them steamed mutants despite the fact they are *obviously* grilled
The sabortooth new look that took over for wolverine while he was gone is dope
GBA version was made by WayForward
I remember getting this game for my birthday back in second grade and loving it
This looks like a reskin of Ninja Gaiden 2...especially when he's fighting near the Statue of Liberty...
I remember this game! It was pretty fun back in the day! I remember them using that badass theme from the 2nd movie.
Sabertooth is almost tall as Rosalina, which, coincidentally measures about 3 Jackmans
I did NOT forget, thank you very much
This is the Superman 64 of X-Men games
?
I remember playing the demo of this at blockbusters and seeing a show where all the audience members recieved this game. I always did want to check out this no real reason besides I love Xmen.
A Wha Happun on X3: The Last Stand? A throwaway joke? No says I, genius idea!!
Massive kudos for the Ex-Men clip. Those and Street Fighter Red Tape are absolute comic gems.
I remember playing through this for an easy gamerscore completion back in the day. It was tedious and iirc there were some frustrating collectibles.
This is the game nobody played, but where they put the "in-universe" reason why Nightcrawler wasn't in X3
I NEED a StarWars and a Wolverine game built on the engine from MetalGear Revengance!
Picture the “Blade mode” with a lightsaber, hacking a StormTrooper into hundreds of pieces.
Your cackle is hilarious. Also, I think you'd love Sega Genesis X-Men. The first game. That's my favorite X-Men game lol
Video game Wolverine: "I'm the best there is at flailing around!"
Logan may have been the first character that his face become synonymus with the character so whether in costume ir not same badassness. His rdventures in japan with kitty pryde are awesome
"It appears to be the ace of spades"
I got that reference - Captain America voice 😉
This game gave me the hardest time as a kid. Them damn iceman missions yo
I love how the mission complete text is off center
“That’s why Nightcrawler leg-kicked your leg out of your leg!”
I played this game a lot when it first came out and I had fun playing it. I liked playing as Wolverine and Nightcrawler. Iceman I was pretty disappointed however with his gameplay. Wasn’t a fan of him just sliding around, thought we could play him in the air and ground. Oddly enough, this was the game that encouraged me to play more games on harder difficulties since all mutations you earned by playing hard.
not gonna lie i like how they use storm's claustrophobia as a part of the boss fight.
I think Sabretooth gets an adamantium skeleton in comics at one point too.
Weapon X gave Sabertooth 4 claws I'm both hands in the Ultimate comics. Wolverine calls him a knock off🤣🤣
I will never forget this game, my first super hero gaming experience.
Really love all ya vids i just subscribe to you ....its the humor that you nail lol
For a while Sabertooth did have adamantium. Then it was taken out and given to Logan to turn him into the Horseman of Death.
I remember this game! I rented it once and played mostly nightcrawler stuff from memory. I don't even remember this wolverine level.
I actually hav a lot of nostalgia for this game when it was out on the ps2
I didn't understand the yellow spandex joke as a kid, my answer to cyclops was "duh"
Sabertooth had an adamantium skeleton at one point, it's where Wolverine got his replacement adamantium from Apocalypse after it was ripped off him by Magneto. When he became to Horseman of Death, Apoc transferred it from Sabertooth to Wolverine.
Matt's campaign against Cyclops continues!
Nightcrawler does have a healing thing but to my knowledge its because he's technically a demon
You earn costumes with those items, but you need to collect all of them in every single level to unlock them
I didn't forget I beat this game back in the day
I don’t know if you’ve ever covered it Matt but there was these games on ps2 called Obscure. They definitely lived up to the name but i think they would make for a good mini series
Seeing this reminded me of X-Men Legends on PS2. That game was kinda hard lol
I have fond memories of "X-2 wolverines revenge" i wonder if its anygood if i go back to it now.
That Ronin Warriors reference... Niiiice.
I remember playing this game quite a bit as a kid...
I definitely own this and for sure got stuck on a level and thought "this isn't worth my time" haha
Tenuous link, Viper from ‘The Wolverine’ movie was a HYDRA agent in the comics, oddly her background in the movie wasn’t properly explained.
Jack Quantum. 10/10
I remember beating this game. Some weird fight with multiple man and night crawler. Kid me would play anything, god.
We got a Morph reference and a "Wolverine catches a fainting Storm" so it's X-Men cartoon compliant.
Classic Wolverine and Nightcrawler costumes are in this game. Never unlocked Ice Man stuff.
I can't believe that Ronin Warriors got referenced in 2022.
"It appears to be the ace of spades."
Classic Go-Bots reference! 😉
in the main 616 universe and ultimate universe, sabretooth eventually gets an adamantium skeleton. not sure if that's been taken away (he's been killed and brought back at least twice since then)
"Steamed mutants" had me 😂😂😂
