Great video with some nice points! Some spells in here I'm considering higher on my list now, even if they're not my top 5.

    Itchy nuisance is indeed awesome.

The best spell is the one in the right place at the right time

Hmmm, I'm not convinced that these remains in play spells are the best as the opposing player gets a chance to dispel them at the start of his turn - they effectively get 2 dispel attempts before they have to move their units; once when it's cast and again at the start of their turn, on an easier roll.
If the number of dispel attempts were limited, then these remain in play spells would go up in value IMO.

Phantasmagoria: what happens if I'm in range of the effect but I don't move?

I believe the unit is still affected by the spell because it ends its movement within the range of effect. However, if you start your movement inside the bubble of effect and move out of it, then it is ok.

This is a hard to say rules wise. Kind of another gray area.
For my reading, if you don't move you don't finish a move so you can avoid the spell by deciding not to move. Not moving feels like sufficient opportunity cost to avoid being affected by the spell considering the game revolves around movement and positioning.
That said because the rules don't outline a "remains stationary" action, if someone were feeling particularly pedantic they could argue that all units are moved during remaining moves, and that they simply move 0" and therefore still count as "finishing a move". This falls apart pretty quickly when applied elsewhere though, for example all Missile units would always be at -1 for moving.

@@Dre0oqThe rules mention "ending your movement" in tons of situations where it's clear that you can also not move. It's just the phrase they use to mean "the location of your unit at the end of the movement phase"

@louisraphael1727 Can you provide an example? I get your meaning but it seems a strange reading to say you can end a move without having done so. Although I run into a lot of rules issues with American vs British English.

No Wind Blast and No Plague of Rust? Yeah this list sucks

Did you ever even play any of the spells he mentioned...? Yeah PoR is pretty good, but itchy nuisance and gathering darkness are both arguably better, and wind blast is not even the best magic missile in the game

Just wondering if you’ve actually played any Old world? Spell selection is very situational to both army list design and as a local meta picks. The video gives pretty good general information on HIS top five spells. For example, he explains phantasmagoria really well. Are they my top 5 spells, no, but then my list building and meta are most likely very different. It’s looking like he’s try to break or disrupt units before the combat phase, which is a viable thing in the Old World.
